chapter four:
"footage on the fly"

I stirred awake to the nurse lightly shaking me,"ashley!"

"what? sorry." i mumbled, rubbing the sleep out of my eyes

"that's the eighth mini attack this month! and you even passed out. ashley you haven't passed out like this since the fourth grade!" she scolds

I just sigh, leaning my head back onto the pillow, making a sound from the paper wrapped on top of it. she stares for a moment and sighs back

she kneels,"look ashley, I know you're going through a hard time right now and athletics is your only way of channeling it, but you need to find a different way to let that out, okay?"

i nod at her concern,"okay." I say. then flashed a smile to let her know i was fine

me and the nurse have made a close bond over the year with my frequent mini attacks

"okay the pe period just ended, go change back to your regular clothes."

"thanks nurse jackie!" I call out

I go into the locker rooms and change back, then I walk back over to the lunch area and look for the guys. I finally see them at a random table goofing around in front of tuck's camera

I walk over there and I hear,
"so, why would you be organizing your ketchups?" alex asked as I sat down with my apple

"because, so I can get to them easier and so that it's more organized"

"but who does that?" alex asks

"obviously him alex, get with the program here." I joke, snapping my fingers

he gives me a playful glare then mouthed 'are you okay?', once the boys returned to their food

I nod my head while mouthing
'just peachy', she smiles and doesn't hesitate to take my chocolate muffin and take a bite

"hey! that's my muffin!" i exclaimed, he just smirked

"guys, guys, its time to practice the big lie." tuck tells us as he turns the camera towards his face

"hey mom, I'm spending the night at alex's house so we can play a neat, brand-new video game." he points it to me

"hey mom! I'm going to emma's house to do what us girls do and have fun!" i lied, throwing a sarcastic thumbs up at the end.

then he pointed it at munch
oh lord, here we go.

"and I'm sleeping over at tucks house, so we can play a new video game." he says rushed.

then it was time for alex

"and I'm sleeping in your moms bed- not playing a video game" he jokes

as tuck complains, I let out my laughter,
alex looks at me and winks, where did that come from?

"alright, stop talking about my mother!" tuck scolds, throwing a fry at his head

"all right, the cameras are gonna be on twenty four hours a day, nonstop. - dude can you stop touching, please" he was clearly annoyed by alexs antics

"it attaches to my bike, and it's also a pretty good way to get footage on the fly."

"the fly?" I ask, jokingly

"yes the fly ashley, spy glasses I love these; I love them. and last, but definitely not least, what up, camcorder? keepin it tight, looking pretty good these days."

"tuck! these are the ugliest things I've ever seen." alex says with the glasses on

"dude, what? what are you, what are you talking about? those are, they're sweet. the cameras undetectable, and the ladies love them" he exclaimed, I scoff

"prove it" alex says

"prove it? this guy alright? give me my glasses, man. those are stealth." he says getting up from his seat to prove them wrong

he walks over to emma's table, and since i've known emma from kinder, i knew she would never give her number to a guy she doesn't know

"oh, my gosh, he's going over there." munch says amazed.

I scoff  "whatever"

we watch as emma hands him a piece of paper and he starts to walkback over, there was no way he actually got it

I make eye contact with emma and raise my eyebrow at her, which she shook her head no in response. confirming he didn't get the number

munch and alex were mumbling things, probably about him being so brave

he walks back over and I gave him the 'I know what you did look' and he instantly got what I was saying

"totally got her number right there" holding up the a blank piece of paper to them

but they didn't know that

"you doubted me, and my spy glasses worked!"

"okay two things, one you could've just asked me if they attracted woman considering I am one, and second whats the big deal about emma anyways? you guys know she's my best friend" I say getting up and walking over to her table sitting next to emma, instantly joining in on the convo.

after school

"I'll leave my house at 6:00. 15 minutes later, I pick up alex. then the twins, we'll get you at 6:30." tuck explains

"got it" I confirm

"okay? tonight-" he didn't get to finish his sentence when spencer, one of the most popular kids in the school came and ran into him

"I didn't see you, man!" he laughed, then caught sight of me. "hey ashley lookin' good!!" spencer said checking me out

my cheeks instantly heated, "thanks I guess?" I mumbled out, confused on the random compliment

In the corner of my eye I saw alex bunch up his fist. what's gotten into him lately?

"I can't believe you hang out with those guys sometimes" munch mumbles as we begin walking again

"I don't, but emma does so they kinda just know me" i say, making sure they knew I felt awkward

alex noticed and put a protective arm around my waist, guiding me through the halls

but this time it was different from all the times he's hugged or touched me. I had a felt flutters in my stomach
