FIVE AND I SPENT THE next three and a half weeks working on finding a way back to our timeline. Seeing as last time, Five didn't have an exact destination on when he wanted to travel to, we also have to be very exact.
We know that we want to go back to before 2019 but not at the exact time we left cause well, imagine how our 13-year-old siblings would react to seeing Five and I as 21-year-olds.
Although, I would love to see the look on their faces if we did.
I would be lying if I said that the work we are doing to get back made me unhopeful. Little by little, Five and I have made progress. We've been so engrossed in the thought of time-traveling back that we haven't fought, joked, or talked to Delores much.
The only time we do talk away from the chalkboard is when we are just falling asleep. Normally when we talk at night, we look up at the stars, seeing that the moon has lost its round shape for some unknown reason.
It was now a deformed rock-like shape. When we first got here we thought that the sun was just hitting the moon at a weird angle but not long after we noticed that we were very wrong.
Of course, we don't have all the answers or any for that matter, but we've made peace with that. For now.
After the small correction I made to Five's problem we quickly ran out of space on the board and ended up getting another one... and another one. Okay, so we may have started writing on what's left of the walls, but to be fair we don't exactly have a lot to work with so it'll have to do.

I stand in what's left of the destroyed academy, looking for any signs of life. I look down at my dirty uniform, wiping my sweaty palms on the front of my blazer as I try to stay calm. But I can't help but let out a whimper in panic.
I'm completely alone. No Ben. No Klaus. No Five.
"Hello?!" I yell, my voice horse from crying.
"Zero." I hear someone choke out from behind my line of sight. I turn to the voice only to find Five bleeding out onto the ground from his stomach.
I run to him, quickly lifting him and placing pressure on his wound. "No, no. This- this can't be happening. Not again. Not you too. Please. Five, hey! Stay with me!" I yell as his eyes start to droop closed.
"You have to keep going. You have to..." Suddenly he stops. His eyes stare off into nothing as they start to gloss over. His heart beat comes to a stop as the last breath leaves his lungs.
"No, no, no! Five! Wake up! Wake up!" I sob, shaking his shoulders in panic. "You- I can't-" I stutter not able to form coherent sentences.
"Zero... Zero... Zero!" I hear someone call.
My eyes open wide with a gasp. I look over to see Five sat up on my right, looking at me with concern. I take deep breaths as my mind leaves its nightmare state. It was just a dream. Thank goodness it was just a dream.
"Zero, are you okay?! You were whimpering in your sleep." Five asks worriedly. He examines my terrified expression in the moonlight before saying. "You're crying."
I reach my hand to my damp cheek, noticing that he's right. "I-I'm fine, Five. Just go back to sleep," I reply shakily as I try to convince him. I turn my head away to wipe my face with my sleeve.
"No, hey. What were you dreaming about that got you that terrified? Talk to me." He pushed, placing his hand under my chin and turning it to look at me.
"I..." I try to find the words. My lip quivers and I shake my head as another tear falls. He pulls me into a hug which I quickly reciprocate.
I wrap my arms around him as he holds me close, running his hand through my hair. "You're okay. Whatever you saw, didn't happen. You're here with me, alright? Shh. Just breath." He assures gently.
I take his advice and take a few deep breaths, still holding him tightly. Even once I'm done crying I say in this position, not wanting to let him go. Ever.

The past few days Five has surprisingly been warier around me after my midnight breakdown. I'm just trying to forget the incident had happened at all by drowning myself in finding a way home. I haven't gotten far but I'm not giving up quite yet.
"So if we time travel back to April 2010 we would probably have more than enough time to stop the apocalypse and we would be the same age as our siblings. The real question is how we would stop the apocalypse. We might not even be able to time travel yet. We might need more time. Yes, I know. Ironic." I ramble to Five and Delores who is listening to my every word.
"I can do it. We will need time to figure things out but we've made a lot of progress. It won't be long until we can leave this place and get back to our family. Back to normal. Y'know, without all this," Five says.
Ouch. Okay...
"Our family? Normal?" I raise an eyebrow, pushing away my negative thoughts. "What will you do when we get back to 'normal'?" I ask, changing the topic.
"Well I'll- I... I don't know. I guess I never thought about it." Five furrows his brows as he leans back on his seat. "Get a job? A life? I don't know."
"Neither do I," I say in thought. I know that I don't want things to go completely back to how they were before. Five and I have a much stronger relationship than we did back then. If we went back would we even talk or will it be like how when we were kids and act like the past few years never even happened?
Okay, I'm getting ahead of myself. Of course, we would still talk... right?

We have now been working on getting back home for the past 4 months, and over that time I feel like I've grown even closer to Five. When we work together I feel this chemistry between us and I hope I'm not the only one feeling it.
"So, seeing as we haven't gone on this week's food run I think we should leave in a few minutes or so. What do you think?" Five asks as lean leans against an equation-covered wall.
"Yeah, maybe we could find one of those old shelters and see if there are any cans," I reply, standing and walking to our wagon. I notice Delores sitting peacefully next to a few cans before leaning down and brushing a bit of dust off her face.
"And I also had this other idea I wanted to run by you," Five adds, pushing himself off the wall as he makes his way over to me.
"What's up?" I ask, standing up straight.
"Well, I've noticed that we've only been using our powers for food scavenging and I was thinking that we could start training again. Not like dad would train us of course but, you know... We could do a bit of sparing. See who would win." He suggests with a nonchalant shrug.
"Sure. Just know I won't be going easy on you. This was your idea after all," I reply with a teasing smirk which he quickly returns.
"I wouldn't dream of it."

As soon as we got back from can hunting, which I might add was a total score, we were ready to spare. Delores had decided to stay back since she was getting cold. The harsh wind had me putting my hair back in a bun as Five and I stood feet away from each other.
We had found a clearing not far from where we were staying and decided that this would be a good place.
"Alright. Ground rules." Five says slyly. I can tell he's been looking forward to this all day because I have too. " If either of us says 'stop', we stop. No weapons or extra objects. We use what we remember from our old training and our powers. Sound good?"
"Sounds good... So what? Are we gonna get started or-" I stop mid-sentence as Five charges toward me.
I hold out my hands as he blinks away, out of my sight. Suddenly I feel a kick on the back of my calf, making me fall forward on my palms creating small scrapes in them. "What were you saying about not going to take it easy on me?" He taunts as he circles around me.
I look up with a mischievous grin. His eyes widen slightly as I stand and raise my arm in a swift motion, making him fall backward. He chuckles as I hold him down with my telekinesis and circle him. "And I wasn't lying."
He blinks away again but this time I'm ready. I see a bright blue glow from behind me and turn as I raise my hand to catch his wrist from hitting my shoulder. He lowers his other hand to jab me in the stomach only for me to block it with my other forearm.
We grin at each other once more, adrenaline pumping through our veins. He takes advantage of my tight grip on his wrist to flip it around so that he has my hand pinned down to my lower back.
I then move my leg so that it's in between his and loop it around his foot before tripping him. I take a deep breath as I feel around my now free wrist. Five smiles as I feel a hand grip my ankle, making my eyes widen slightly.
Suddenly I'm pulled to the floor as well as Five rolls over so that he's straddling me, leaving me nowhere to go. "I win," He gins down at me with a handsome smile.
"I let you," I roll my eyes, unable to hide my smirk.
"Uh-huh. Sure," He smirks but soon stops taunting as he looks down at the position we're in before looking back at my face. "Well aren't we cozy?" he raises an eyebrow, his smirk not faltering.
I gulp before replying. "Seems we are," I gaze up into his green eyes as I inhale deeply. I can feel his eyes flicking from my eyes to my lips. His jaw clenches together as he prepares himself to get up.
I stop him by raising my hand to his cheek. He looks down at me, confused. I look down at his lips and he does the same to mine, building the tension between us. He leans down so our noses are centimeters apart as if silently asking to go lower to connect our lips as I notice his eyes darken.
I lean forward on my elbow, closing the gap between us as I feel his right hand rest on my hip. Neither of us has ever felt like this before.
Any feeling of coldness fades away as our bodies press against each other, creating body heat. I can feel his breath against my face as our faces got closer and closer.
I pushed on his chest and rolled him onto his back, straddling him and holding his wrist above his head as he looks up at me in shock. "I win," I smirk.
"You play dirty," He mutters darkly.
"That's all the fun," I reply with a sly grin.
He tugs on one of my hands, silently asking for me to let go of his wrists. I do so, making his hand raises to the nape of my neck.
I can hear my breath start to shake and in a moment of panic, I back away and stand up. "Uh, we should go," I tell him as he stands as well.
"Yeah, you're right. Delores must be wondering what's taking us so long," Five sighs.
There was a moment between us and we both know it. Walking back to the abandoned library, we both stayed silent.
What am I supposed to say? 'Hey, I know you're kinda like my brother and all, but I really like you.'? No. That would just be weird.
Y'know what? It's fine! I'll just do my best to get over him. I will get over him.
I'll just have to focus on stopping the apocalypse.
