Chapter Twenty-Six
BUT I LOVE YOU

"He's my grandfather?" Mara looked confused. Why hadn't he told her? Did he even know? Ryan looked at her confused too.

A knock came at the door and Mara looked to see Johnny standing behind the doctor. "Hey, short-stack. How are you feeling?"

"Did you know?" Johnny looked confused.

"Did I know what?"

"That Kreese was my grandfather. Did you know?"

Johnny sighed and looked down. "Yes."

     "Did anyone else know?"

     "Miguel. But I told him not to tell you, Mara. He's not a good person. I couldn't let him around my students and that included you."

"He's my family! I had a right to know!"

"Kid I-"

"Does he know who I am? That Ryan and I are his grandchildren?"

Johnny nodded. "I told him not to tell you."

Mara turned and looked down at her bed. "Get out."

"Mara pl-"

Mara snapped her head over to him. "Get out!"

Johnny backed up slowly before leaving the room. The doctor looked uncomfortable. "I'll leave you two alone to process this...new information. I'm going to try and find a way to contact Mr. Kreese."

Ryan held Mara's hand. "Maybe he just wanted what was best for you Mara."

"I don't give a shit. Don't you understand Ryan? Kreese did more for me than Dad ever did. He treated me like a daughter more than my own father. And it turns out we're actually family and instead of telling me Johnny sent him away. He didn't even let me say goodbye first. Can I just be alone for a minute?" Her brother nodded and stood up and Mara laid down in her bed and closed her eyes.

     Mara woke up later and opened her eyes to see Moon sitting beside her bed. She smiled at her girlfriend and sat up. "Hey, I was wondering when you would come."

     "Yeah, sorry I took so long. How are you feeling?"

     "Physically? Just a minor concussion. Emotionally? I'm not sure yet."

     Moon nodded and moved a strand of hair out of the girl's face. "You scared me, Mars."

     Mara placed a kiss on the inside of Moon's hand. "I'm sorry. I'm glad you're here though."

     Moon nodded slowly and pulled her hand away from Mara's. "I love you, Mara."

     Mara smiled. "I love you too."

     Moon shook her head and looked down at her lap before looking back up at the girl. "Mara, I've seen it and I'm pretty sure everyone else has seen it too, but you don't love me."

"I just told you I did."

"You may love me, but you're not in love with me. At least not as much as you're in love with Hawk. I've seen the way you look at each other and it's not the same way you look at me."

     "But I love you I do."

     Moon held her cheek and Mara held Moon's arm to keep her hand there. "I just want you to be happy Mara and he makes you happy."

     "You make me happy too." Tears were flowing down Mara's cheeks now. She thought she was done crying today.

     "Trust me this is hard for me too. You're still my best friend Mara and I'll still be there for you, but we can't be together anymore."

Mara shook her head and more tears fell down her face. She watched Moon stand up and she tried to reach out for the girl's hand. "Please don't go. Don't leave me too."

Moon gently took her hand out of Mara's. "I'm not leaving you, Mars. I'll always be there, but just as a friend."

Mara watched her leave and she called out to her. "Please! I'm sorry. Don't leave me too." Moon didn't come back and Mara let the tears flow uncontrollably. She didn't understand. She loved her. Wasn't that enough?

She heard footsteps come down the hall and she thought it was Moon but was surprised to see Kreese come in the doorway. He took one look at her teary face and his gaze softened. Coming over to her he pulled her into a hug and let her sob. "Let it out. Let it all out. I'm here now."

     Mara was discharged a day later and she came home to an empty house. Ryan was still at the hospital. He had been spending all of his time there due to both Mara and Miguel being admitted. Now that she was let out he spent his time waiting for any news on Miguel. It was clear he still loved the boy even after what he did.

     Mara set her keys down and walked over to her fridge. She wasn't sad anymore. She was just angry. Angry at Johnny for lying to her and if Miguel was ok she would be angry at him too. Right now she was only worried about the Hispanic boy. She wasn't even thinking about Moon anymore. She had put so much energy into their relationship just for Moon to dump her and she was over it. The girl had hurt her time and time again and she wasn't going to let her do it again.

     Mara opened her fridge to get a bottle of water and when she saw the bottle of Vodka at the bottom of the fridge door she pulled it out and opened it.

     Walking over to the sink she dumped all of it out. She didn't care about wasting it her dad could buy a new bottle. He had money. They were still technically on the richer side.

     Throwing the bottle away Mara grabbed her water and took a sip of it. She walked over to the couch and sat down on it. She didn't feel like watching tv so she just sat there. A knock came at her door and she groaned and got up.

     Opening the front door she was met by Hawk on the other side. His hair wasn't in his Mohawk which meant he probably hadn't left his house all day."Hey, I saw you come home. I was going to go to the hospital today, but I guess you're already out."

     Mara nodded. "Yeah, just a minor concussion. Nothing too serious."

     Hawk nodded. "I'm glad. I was really worried when you didn't wake up." He pulled her into a hug and she didn't hesitate to hug him back. "You know I'm pretty sure we got suspended."

     Mara laughed. "I think I've figured that out already."

     She looked up at him and saw the way his eyes flickered down to her lips and back to her eyes. "You know, Moon and I broke up."

     "What? Why?"

     "She told me that I didn't love her like I thought I did. And if I'm being honest the more I thought about it, the more I realized she was right. No matter how much I said I loved her I would never be in love with her. And I realize that now, because I was in love with someone else."

She could see Hawk trying not to smile as he looked down at her. "And who is this lucky person?"

     "You might know him. He's funny and he's really smart even though he doesn't like to admit that anymore. He's also terrible at telling people how he feels and just seizing the moment." She looked up at him and held his cheek in her hand. She watched as he leaned into her touch and she couldn't help but smiled. "But I love him. I've always loved him and I don't think I'll ever stop."

     He looked down at her adoringly and brought his face down connecting their lips in a slow kiss. Mara smiled against his lips and she could feel him do the same. He pulled away and they both giggled as he pushed a strand of hair behind her ear and held her cheek like she did to him. "I love you too."

Mara's smile got wider. Before he could speak again she crashed her lips back onto his. The kiss was more aggressive this time and Mara felt herself being turned around, her back colliding with the wall behind her. She didn't care though. Her mind was focused on Hawk's hand around her waist holding her flush against him.

Her hands were tangled in his messy hair and she tugged on the strands causing him to groan into her mouth. She smirked and disconnecting their lips, moving hers to his neck.

Hawk, wanting to be the one in control, grabbed her head and brought her lips back to his. His hands wrapped around her thighs and he whispered "jump" to which she obeyed immediately. He had her pinned to the wall and he slipping his tongue into her mouth kissing her roughly.

Her legs wrapped tightly around his waist and he found himself backing up towards her bedroom door. Not breaking the kiss he opened her door with one hand and the two slipped in before he slammed it closed again.

     He laid her on the bed and pulled off his shirt climbing on top of her. He connected their lips again and placed both his hands on either side of her head to hold himself up.

     She sat up and pulled her shirt off and Hawk made sure to not let his eyes move from hers. "Are you sure?"

     She smiled at him and nodded. "I've never been more sure of anything in my life."

The warm sun came through the window.
Mara's eyes slowly fluttered open at the warm sensation on her face. She felt someone place a kiss on her bare shoulder and pull her closer to them by her waist. She turned around to see a fluffy mop of red hair and she smiled remembering the events of the previous night.

"Morning," Hawk said, his morning voice still present.

     He pulled her closer and she smiled at him and moved his hair away from his eyes. He leaned in to kiss her but she placed her hand over his mouth. "Morning breath." He rolled his eyes at her and she got out of bed and pulled her clothes on.

     "Are we going to Cobra Kai today?" She looked back at Hawk who sat up in bed and rubbed the sleep out of his eyes.

     "Yeah, Sensei Kreese owns the dojo now."

     "That's good. Oh, apparently he's my grandfather. Crazy."

     "That is crazy."

     "He told me my middle name was the name of grandmother. I never knew that."

     "You're grandmother's name was Betsy?"

     "Yeah, I always thought it was a really random middle name, but now I know the meaning behind it. Anyway, get up and get ready."

They both got dressed, Hawk had to run back to his house to get changed, and then they got in Mara's car to drive to the dojo. When they got there the dojo was already packed and Sensei Kreese was standing in the front of the class.

"Welcome back. Your spots are waiting for you."

Mara and Hawk both walked to their spots in the front of the room. Mara didn't see Tory and she wondered where the girl was. She made a mental reminder to text her later but for now, she put her hands behind her back and faced her new Sensei. She was right where she belonged. She wouldn't let anyone cross her again and she would never show them mercy.

She was Cobra Kai for life.

Spice! Bad b Mara! and a whole lot of drama!

Season 3 is going to be a rollercoaster and none of you are ready for it.
