"Kiyoomi, seriously, why are we here?"
Komori was flabbergasted when his cousin said he'd treat him to lunch. Kiyoomi never did that. It was unnerving, to say the least. It's dramatic but it is comparable to when people treat someone they're about to give bad news to something as sweet as this.
"Nothing."
His reply was suspicious. They were sitting inside a restaurant that the lighter haired man knew they have never been in and his cousin wasn't the type to just try a restaurant out of the blue.
Restaurants needs to be a lot of things related to clean for Sakusa Kiyoomi to eat in.
"Just order, Komori."
"This looks great, really. But why, Kiyoomi, are we here?"
"I know the manager," was all his reply.
"That's it? You know the manager?"
He stared at him but Kiyoomi wouldn't even look at him. He just continued to stare at the menu. After some more time, they decided on what to order then Komori called the waiter. They told the waitress their orders but Kiyoomi added something more.
"Can I talk to your manager?"
"Uh, yeah, sure," the waiter walked away.
"Manager? Have you been here before?" Komori asked as he looked around. The place is like every other restaurant so why did he really bring him here?
"I know their manager."
That's it?
"Really, who?"
His cousin didn't reply but looked sideways and Komori followed his line of vision. And that was when he saw you.
"You know their manager, huh?" he asked teasingly.
You walked towards them with a confused face but still smiling.
"Kiyoomi, Komori!" you cheered, "What a surprise!"
"Sakura!"
Komori stood up and spread his arms, urging you to hug him. You happily did so. He smelled so good too, if you were to describe it poetically, he smelled like spring.
"You smell good, Komori."
"Really?"
Someone cleared his throat. It made the two hugging people look at him. Komori laughed as he let go of you.
Man, Kiyoomi is still as petty.
"As you can see, Kiyoomi hasn't changed," he commented and sat down.
You smiled, "So it seems." you replied and glanced at Kiyoomi, "But welcome! You've placed orders already, right?"
"Yeah."
"Great! It'll be ready in about 10 minutes and if there's any concerns, please call for me. Okay, bye."
It was awkward.
For you.
The two men weren't bothered with everybody's stare but you were. You like being holed up in your office as you manage the restaurant, only occasionally going out. It was uncomfortable.
Kiyoomi didn't miss how you were rushing to go. And so he looked around and noticed it.
So he really didn't say anything when you walked away quickly. Komori wanted to talk more though. He haven't seen you for years and you two grew closer when you were together with Kiyoomi.
"Let her be, Komori."
He squinted his eyes in suspicion.
"Let her be? What is this, dude? You suddenly brought me here and I find out she's here? You never give me details."
Even before, Komori gets all the tea from you.
"Shh, you're being noisy."
Komori somehow felt violated. So he pouted.
After eating, the pair paid for their own meal. Yes, Kiyoomi didn't treat Komori.
But they both didn't go out of the building together. Kiyoomi stayed back and kept ordering drinks and deserts.
You didn't know because you were busy. The staff wanted to let you know but you were too immersed with your work that they didn't want to bother you.
8pm came. Your restaurant closes around 12am but someone takes over for you, Mina. The owner knows that she's struggling and offered her to work for just a couple of hours. It clashed with her classes and other job but she decided to take up the 8pm-12am shift.
"Okay, why is a hottie athlete out there looking all hot?"
Mina entered the manager's office and spoke with a rattling voice. You jumped slightly at that.
"Hello, Mina, how was school?"
She was studying to be a doctor so she really takes up jobs just to help with the expenses. But the lack of sleep and stress doesn't even dampen her mood one bit.
"Felt like using my pen to gouge my eyes out, nothing new. So what's the tea with the hottie?"
As you gathered your stuff, you shook your head, "I don't have tea for you."
You still didn't know Kiyoomi was still there. Since him and Komori were there earlier, you weren't really surprised to hear another athlete is here.
"You're the manager, you should have tea, senpai."
You smiled apologetically and walked out. She followed you and asked about some work stuff. But you didn't reply to her last question because you saw Kiyoomi finally.
He didn't look up at you and stared at his phone. Glasses of juice and leftover snack were on his table.
"He's a hottie, isn't he?"
Mina noticed how you were staring.
"Yeah."
"Can't take your eyes off him, are ya?"
"Yeah."
You were shocked to see hin there. And yes, he looked very attractive sitting there. People that likes guys would probably think if that's how it'd look if he was their date.
The ambience of the restaurant paired with the situation looking like he's waiting for someone would make anyone think he's on a date.
Finally, he turned his gaze away from his phone and saw you. He stood up for some reason. He waved his hands signaling you to come to him. For some reason too, you walked towards him. Very submissive, aren't ya?
Mina was confused.
"You're still here?"
"You were rushing to go earlier so I just waited."
The restaurant were starting to empty but soon enough, customers will start to come in again.
"Why?"
"Let's eat out."
Panickedt.
"Huh!?"
"With Komori."
You punched him in the chest. You were annoyed at him for leaving that out for enough of a moment for you to panic. It was clearly intentional.
He smirked at you and held your hand that was still punching him.
"So we're going?"
"Sure."
You turned back to Mina who now have her eyes and mouth open.
"Mina?"
"WHAT!?"
"Why are we surrounded by loud people," Kiyoomi grumbled.
"Calm down, Mina."
After a very loud conversation with Mina, you two finally got out and headed to the sushi restaurant.
"So, how was your day?" you asked as you settled inside his very very noticeably clean car.
"Good. Had training with idiots but good."
"That's harsh for someone who is very proud of his team."
He mentioned that last time when you had a meal together in your apartment and you won't let it go. It was a soft fact and that does not come everyday.
"Shut up. How was yours?"
"Surprising. You should've given me a warning when you come "
Well, he wanted to. But he doesn't have your number.
And he wants to have it. But he didn't have the guts.
"Who was that loudmouth?"
"Mina, the other manager. She's enthusiastic. Why'd you ask?"
"She reminds me of your friend that is also very loud. They could be sisters."
In your years without him, you've dreamed of having a conversation like this with him. Not specifically this topic but a conversation where it was like you never left.
He was your comfort and you were his. You let him be the clean freak he is and he lets you be (insert character trait - like bossy - that applies to you). You had 1 big fight and small others. But he always comes back in your arms.
You smiled.
"Is there something amusing?"
He asked and glanced at you. The car stopped for traffic and you placed your hands at the top of his soft hair.
"You're amusing."
- Yes, I'm alive. Barely but alive. School should be on the list of possible causes of death.
