"Why are you so caring, anyway?"
You squealed internally because of him starting a conversation. Sakusa Kiyoomi does not usually do that. He ends them. So why is he doing that now?
You can't help but feel giddy, and it almost made you want to not answer just to see what he'll do. But he might not do this again if you do that.
"I have two younger brothers, 13 and 10," you started, "my dad and my mom separated when my youngest brother was just 3 years old. And I needed to step up."
You don't say this stuff just casually, but you wanted Sakusa to know you. And of course, you wanted to know him too.
"Fortunately, my parents didn't end in bad terms. My father supported us in any way he can, but he doesn't live with us anymore and has another family. My mom works as a manager at a restaurant and leaves quite early and gets home late. And so Iโ"
Realizing you don't want to talk his ear off, you blushed, embarrassed. "I'm sorry! I'm going to stop talking now!"
Unbeknownst to you, he wants to know you, hear the stories you tell no matter what they are about.
"It's alright, Minami-san. I prefer talking to you than some of my friends."
"The volleyball club?" You asked, also wanting to know him more.
"Them and also players from other schools. One of them is so chaotic that I get exhausted even if we only talk to each other online."
"Is that so?" you chuckled at his honest description of his interactions. "Are they famous? I heard a lot of volleyball players are famous beyond their school."
Both of you did not want to end the conversation which would have been so sweet if you two knew about it. But you two don't, so it can get confusing for those who have an idea or actually knew, like Komori.
"I thought you don't watch volleyball matches that much, how would you know them?"
"Oh," you said and pulled out your phone, "Yuna told me about the fact that volleyball players can be so famous among high school students in different schools and she also told me that I could just search them anytime."
"Yuna is your loud friend, isn't it?"
You chuckled again at his description, "Yes, that one. She's just energetic though."
Talking to you about other boys who a lot of students consider attractive is the lesser of two evils. The other option would be not talking to you at all, and he doesn't want your conversation to just end yet.
"I can search them for you."
You smiled and went to your social media app. You gave it to him. You realized that he might not be okay touching other people's belongings but remembered that he's the one who offered.
"I trust that you keep your things clean, Minami-san. After all, moms like cleaning, don't they?" He said the last sentence rather playfully.
You grinned and decided to tease him, "yeah, but I can never beat you at cleaning, would I ever, oh, great cleaning master?"
You saw him smirk.
He smirked.
That one little movement sent you blushing, face so red that it put Erza Scarlet's hair to shame.
"Nobody beats me at that, okaasan."
He proceeded to search his friend from other school and did not notice how you blushed.
Well, you blushed hard.
"Here," he said and gestured you beside him.
You walked to his side and crouched down a bit, a reasonable distance between his face and yours separated you two. He is still holding your phone as you looked at it.
"Miya Atsumu," you read on the search bar, "oh, he looks playful."
"He's a chaotic germ I can't brush off."
You giggled, you felt that despite the harsh words, he sees him as a friend. And that's just sweet.
"Wow, the captions of posts of him is so creative."
"It's exaggerated," he stated, "it is absolutely not necessary to add that much heart emoji."
"But they seemed to like him a lot though, there are a lot of accounts with a variation of his name as account name."
"I honestly don't know why."
You faced him and laughed a bit. "You say that but despite it, you care for him because he's your friend, hmm?"
He turned away to not face your teasing.
You grinned because you knew you were right. You looked back at your phone and realized you don't know which school he's from.
"Which school does he go to?"
"Inarizaki." He replied and began scrolling again. You nodded in acknowledgement.
"Oh!" You shouted which caused him to stop scrolling, "He has a twin?"
"Yeah," he typed another name which was 'Miya Osamu.'
"Woah, identical twins is fascinating. Is their hair dyed?"
"Atsumu's hair looks like piss."
"Aw, I think it's cute though. It gives him a boyish type of look."
"Don't defend his life choices."
You laughed at that and as he scrolls down more, you came across their volleyball club photo.
"Woah, their captain looks cool."
And that is what triggered him to exit the app.
You didn't think too much about it, you figured that he was just bored.
Then, you remembered your wallpaper.
It was embarrassing because it was you wearing bunny themed onesie with matching headband. Your hands formed a fist just below your face and you stood awkwardly in front of the camera.
It was a dare from Yuna. She made you wear that and made it your wallpaper. She said that it should be your wallpaper for a month.
You shrieked and took your phone from him. "I-it was a dare!"
You were blushing so hard again. You were so embarrassed that he had to see that. Not only is he your classmate but also your freaking crush.
He started laughing.
You were torn between being embarrassed or appreciating his laugh. And so, you ended up just standing there, not doing anything.
"Your expression was..." he continued laughing again. His laugh wasn't loud, it's even quite elegant.
How can this guy be so classy? you thought.
"Sorry, sorry," he repeated as he tried to regain his composure. "The picture itself isn't laughable but your expression was," he finally said. He had already stopped laughing and was looking at you intently.
If you were to be melted to a puddle at that moment, you would have thanked God.
You felt so exposed. You nervously laughed and looked away. "It's unfortunate that you have to see that," you scratched the back of your head.
"Why, though?"
You snapped your head to face him. He is leaning on his hand that is placed on his table. He was facing you and he was smiling.
He looked handsome and may I add, looking ethereal. But you can't tell if he was teasing or he was just genuinely smiling.
And because you cannot be more embarrassed about this situation, you asked just that.
He replied, "Why not both?"
You were embarrassed before, but that tripled and flustered was added to the equation. Somehow, him teasing you and being all playful and smiley and talkative was so overwhelming in a good way.
"I didn't know you could tease someone, Sakusa-kun," you tried to diffuse the situation by attempting conversation.
"Well, I normally don't, but you were just begging to be teased, Sakura."
"Sakura?" You yelled, "not that you can't call me that," you whispered the last part but he still hears it because you two were the only ones in the room.
He didn't know why he felt bold today. People who wants to be friends with him and know him always makes the first move. But the difference between them and you is the fact he likes you.
He doesn't want to be just friends. He wants to be more. But he doesn't want to rush.
However, taking it slow does not mean that he can't try to make you like him. That's exactly what he is doing. He is showing you that he is more than a germaphobe who hates human interactions. He's showing you sides that no one really have seen before. He wants you to know him more than everyone else, he wants you to see him as someone special and unique, he wants to be likable and etc.
Because he wants you to like him, he wants your attention, he wants to hear your laughs and giggles, he even wants to see you mad just because he liked all of your expressions.
Bottom line,
he wants you.
