ʙʀʏɴɴᴇ [Κ™-Κ€-Ιͺʜ-Ι΄] / ʀʏɴ [α΄˜Κ€α΄Ι΄α΄α΄œΙ΄α΄„α΄‡α΄…: Κ€-Ιͺʜ-Ι΄ ᴏʀ ʀᴇΙͺΙ’Ι΄]

An emergency council meeting was declared allowing the three faction leaders first gathered in Magnus' apartment. The sun was glowing through the window of Magnus' apartment Brynne had made her way while into the meeting and was focused on making herself her third drink in the hour and making the three leaders a drink

"After the night is through, you're gonna wish you had these," Brynne tells the werewolf and vampire while handing them a simple cold drink which once she turns her back to pick up her own drink they set them down on the coffee table

"Look, just because you're not willing to face Alec sober, doesn't mean the rest of us shouldn't walk into this emergency council meeting levelheaded," Luke states not having experienced a drunk or buzzed Brynne since for the time he knew her she was supposed to be acting like a teen

Brynne narrows her eyes at the man and points a finger at him, "Don't be a fucken prick you bitch"

"No need to be hurtful," Magnus stands between the two making Brynne raise her middle finger not willing to take her words back

Luke on the other hand did take his words back, "You're right. I'm sorry. It was a long night with the cubs."

"Where's Meliorn?" Raphael asks as they were missing a faction leader

Magnus holds up his hand for a second making Brynne roll her eyes. Magnus breaks the news that only the two warlocks knew, "The Queen will be attending this very special meeting in his place."

"And exactly how do you know that?" Luke asks already not liking the answer

"She told me," Magnus shares which was already getting a negative reaction "And I'd suggest you both cozy up to her, sooner rather than later."

"She's a fanatic," Luke argues putting the Queen's obsessive behavior mildly

"Aren't they all," Brynne whispers in-between sips

"Valentine is a fanatic." Magnus defends the women he knew would double-cross them the chance an opportunity popped up "The Clave is filled to the gills with fanatics. The Queen is simply a woman with a strong point of view."

"Does that strong point of view differ from breaking the Accords?" Luke asks as that's the only outcome he can envision "Because last time I checked, war with the Clave is the order of the day."

"Unless Valentine succeeds in raising Raziel. Kills everyone with demon blood first," Raphael counters

"Dark even for you," Brynne comments with wide eyes used to the vampire's dark demeanor but a reminder of reality wasn't what she wanted

Magnus ignores Brynne's comments as he was allowing her to listen in as a way to keep an eye on her, "In which case, she'd like to offer the entire Downworld protection in the Seelie Realm. She insists the Court has been beyond the reach of the Angels and their power for quite some time."

At the news, Brynne scoffs in her drink while Luke turns away from the man burdened with sharing the news, "So we live in safety as, what, her subjects?"

"Loyal guests is how she worded it when I brought up the same concern," Magnus clarifies making Luke sarcastically hum

Raphael on the other hand scoffs, "And you believed her?"

"I believe that Seelies cannot lie." Magnus answers not being able to meet anyone's stare as they all knew that was a terrible answer "Look... No pressure, but I have already accepted her offer on behalf of the warlock community in Brooklyn."

Luke and Raphael look at each other then back at Magnus with a tense stance, "What's the catch?"

"You're gonna want that drink now," Magnus ominously answers Luke's question

Brynne knowing what her role had been assigned raises her cup, "Cheers"

The Seelie Queen wanted Brynne at the Institute for the Downworlder emergency meeting – and by want meant she demanded it. So in doing her best to look and act sober Brynne wore a simple black plunge neck long sleeve crop top with gold floral black wide leg pants that covered some tan block platform boots.

The Queen of course took the head of the round table with Raphael and Brynne sitting on both her sides while Magnus and Luke stood behind her. Izzy, Jace, Clary, and Alec enter the room not fazed by the Seelie soldiers lining the walkway with spears in hand.

"Where, oh, where is Simon?" The twelve-year-old looking Queen asks with her head held high

"Your Highness, what an unpleasant surprise," Clary greets her with disgust making it hard for Brynne to keep a straight face as she just wanted to something as simple a smile nod or smile but knew the Queen would somehow know

"Well, I'm sure she didn't mean to–" Alec tries to meditate but gets cut off by Jace but that didn't stop Brynne's attention to be directed away from Alec

"No offense, Alec, but I agree with Clary." Jace defends the redheads words with his own coldness "Your Majesty, is this another one of your little games?"

"The Institute called an emergency meeting of the Downworld Council. I speak on behalf of the Downworld," The Queen breaks the news making

"Brynne, is this true?" Alec asks and the girl being so used to answering opens her mouth only to close it and look away

"Henceforth, when you need anything from the Downworld, you shall address me, Mr. Lightwood. Such is the nature of our new agreement," the queen says with poise

Alec being the head of the Institute adapts quickly, "Your Highness, Valentine believes that the Institute has the Mortal Mirror and he's not going to leave the city without it. I would like the Downworld's help in locating him."

"In order to capture him, so that he might escape once again?" The queen questions making Brynne's eyes widen knowing that was a good question but also a great comeback that the queen delivered with zero emotion

"In order to execute him, so this threat may finally end," Alec quickly answers

The queen closes her gold painted eyelids and with a shake of her head asks, "Why should we believe you?"

"I understand why you might doubt my intentions after what happened with the Soul-Sword. And for that," Alec glances over at Brynne the sincerity in his voice being directed towards her and not the queen "I am sorry. But I founded this council to make things more transparent between the Downworld and the Clave."

"And how has that been going?" The queen asks which was something she already knew the answer to

"It's been a bit of a work in progress," Alec admits

The Seelie Queen rises with a quick eyeroll having already made her decision, "For far too long, the Downworld has depended on the Clave and your Institute to protect us from men like Valentine. It's time we learned our lesson and started fighting for ourselves."

"We can't do this alone. Valentine is a threat to all of us," Alec tries one more time but his seriousness was no match for the queens

"The answer, Shadowhunters, is no" The queen eyes Alec who had been trying to get an emotion out of any of the other leaders. The queen then moves out of her seat and to the Downworlders says, "Come along."

Magnus and Brynne were the only ones to follow after the Seelie Queen and to have her guards walk behind them as everyone around the table stood watching them walk away.

◇─◇──◇─────◇──◇─◇

The Seelie Queen was exhausting, but just seeing Alec standing before her and not be able to even look at him with love was even more exhausting. So while Brynne wanted to just get home and change into some sweat pants and lay on the couch while drinking wine through a swirly straw she followed Magnus to his apartment because there was work to be done.

The high warlock's apartment wasn't empty like most days, rather familiar warlocks were there. One tiny warlock in specific made Brynne's mind go clear and with a smile on her face shouted, "Jagiya!"

"Brynne!" Madzie excitedly runs over to Brynne who once in the living room kneels allowing Madzie to run into her arms

Brynne pulls the young girl into a hug while carefully standing up and dramatically kisses the girl's head. Once Madzie was able to see the girl's face she says staggered, "So many warlocks all in one place"

"So amazing right?" Brynne smiles happily knowing while she didn't know the extent of their meeting her excitement was a silver lining. Brynne places Madzie down on the ground while saying, "Don't forget to say hi to Magnus"

Madzie walks away to do just as Brynne had said making Brynne walk over to greet the next closest warlock.

"Cat," Brynne shortly greets the warlock relaxing on the couch holding a beer in her blue nurse scrubs

"You look like you need this," Catarina raises a new cold beer bottle from the cooler she had next to the couch

Brynne takes the bottle and opens it just as Madzie skips off to the balcony from Magnus' side making Catarina pessimistically say, "Don't get comfortable, kiddo"

"My dearest Catarina," Magnus greets the woman with a sigh walking over to sit behind her and leaning in to feel her shoulders, "Hmm. Why so tense?"

"I just pulled a double in the ER. Mundanes... Can't seem to get out of their own way, can they?" Catarina rhetorically asks making Brynne lean down to clink her drink with the woman's before settling down on the closest chair

"Hmm. You would know more than most," Magnus jokes making Caterina scoff "Thank you so much for coming, by the way"

"Hmm. Our kind only rallies for birthdays and funerals." Catarina points out making Brynne widen her eyes glad she wasn't supposed to answer, "You're not in a suit and there's nary a cake in sight, so... what's the special occasion?"

"Remember when we bottled Malta during that god-awful demon attack?" Magnus answers making the woman smile in reminiscing before slightly turning to face the man behind her
"What are you trying to keep out of New York?"

"You're asking the wrong question," Brynne states knowing the language was off if she wanted a clear answer

"It's not "out", it's "in". It's not "what", but "who"." Magnus clears up walking over to sit on the coffee table so he can be facing the nurse "Two very bad Shadowhunters who cannot leave"

"Did the Clave okay this?" Catarina questions looking at the two warlocks before her with hesitation

"Suffice to say..." Magnus trails off wanting to choose his words wisely as to vaguely say the truth "the common ground between the Downworld and Alicante is... shifting"

"Then it's a good thing I wear comfortable shoes," Catarina smiled up for anything Magnus had in mind

The warlocks once rallied accomplished what they set out to do and that was creating portal wards around the city making it so no other warlock could bring it down. The ward was rare as it's wired to keep Nephilim blood from passing through meaning if a Shadowhunter passes through the threshold they get vaporized

a/n: short chapter but still a lot and next chapter will pick up right away

in part 3 Brynne may be controlled by being the Harbinger and her dad may not be an ass
