"she's a little runaway."

★・・・・・・★

It's been only two months since Amber moved with Eleven and the Byers. She's missed the party completely. Especially Max. But they all missed everyone.

Amber called Max every day and whenever she could. But what Max didn't know, is that something is wrong.

Normally, Max would get up, get ready for the day, skate a little, then call Amber or wait for her to call. But today, the call didn't show up. Max tried calling, but no one answered. It scared her. So she tried calling again. Someone answered, but it wasn't who she was expecting.

"Hello?" Mrs. Byers voice said through the line.

"Oh, hey, Mrs. Byers," she said as she released a breath she didn't know she was holding. "I was wondering why someone wasn't answering."

"Oh, sweetie, it's not really a good time..." she trailed off.

"What do you mean? Is Amber okay? Did something happen?"

"Oh, no! Nothing like that happened."

"You're not telling me something..." she figured out. "What is it?"

"Sweetie... Amber... she's missing."

And Max's heart shattered.

But what Max didn't know is that something happened to Amber. And it happened just when they thought they were okay.

See, what happened was something they thought was over. But apparently, it wasn't.

~

"Hey, Mrs. Byers?" Amber asked.

"Yeah, sweetie?" she replied.

"Can I go to the store? It'll only take five minutes, tops."

"Yeah, but hurry, please."

So, after hearing Joyce's response, she went to the store. She got on her bike and started leaving. She had many thoughts while biking. Most of them were about Max. She thought about Max every second of every day.

She didn't stop thinking about Max, like normal, and she started losing control of the handles.

She knew she was losing balance, so she turned off the road and went into the grass. That's when she saw something. A man. And he didn't look good.

He looked like a person from the lab. Like El described three years ago when they first met. She wanted to run, but she knew something bad would happen to her. So she stood there.🧍🏼‍♀️

The guy started approaching her as if he knew her. If he did, he would need to re-introduce himself to Amber. She didn't know who the hell he was. Amber started slowly backing up. She stopped when she felt a tall, lanky man above her. She slowly turned around and saw someone who seemed like he was with the lab too.

She tried to run, but the man behind her grabbed her by her arm and pulled her back. The man that was in front of her came closer and had a needle, injecting it into Amber's neck.

"Help! No!" Amber screamed.

"Max, sweetie, we tried looking for her, she just never came home from the store. And El, she doesn't have her powers so it makes it harder to find her," Joyce said through the phone.

Max was hurt. She didn't know what to do. The girl she loved was missing. If she couldn't find her, she would lose, yet, another person she loved.

"Max?" Joyce said.

"Yeah, sorry, I'm still here," Max responded to Joyce. "When did this happen?"

"Just yesterday," she sighed. "Will and El said not to call you because you'd try and come here."

"Yeah, I mean, I would, but I won't."

Max and Joyce finished their conversation, and Max hung the phone back up. She quietly walked to her bed and cuddled with the little gray stuffed elephant Amber mailed her a month ago. She thought of all memories she has with Amber. From her trying to help her skateboard, to just doing little things with her, like just cuddling together.

She couldn't help but think of her chocolate brown eyes and her light brown wavy hair. The way she chuckled and her smile always reaching to her eyes. Her rosy pink lips and her freckles that barely anybody could see.

The way she was helplessly in love with her.

She hadn't seen her in a few months and now she can't even hear her voice. She couldn't help but cry.

Amber could be in danger after all.
