"the feeling that i'm losing her forever."

Amber rolled over onto her walkie before groaning in pain. She grabbed the speaker and dropped it on the floor before realizing that she was up.

She groaned once more as the rushing feeling of a hangover came to her. She kicked the blankets off of her body and forced herself up.

She walked down the stairs and was met with Kristen near the phone that she just hung up. She was smiling contently, not noticing her little sister come down the stairs.

"Morning," Amber slurred, making Kristen jump.

"Don't scare me like that! I've told you not to do that," Kristen scolded.

"Sorry," Amber sarcastically slurred as she rolled her eyes. "Where's Callie?"

"The store... Are you drunk?" she questioned.

"No," she denied. "Hungover."

"Amber," she sighed, walking into the kitchen with Amber following. "I told you to stop."

"You also told me to stop smoking but yet here we are," she spoke.

Kristen turned around and glared at her. "Getting drunk won't make Max wake up. You're in high school."

"So are you," she scoffed.

"I graduated," she corrected.

"No, you were in Russia," Amber said, making Kristen flinch.

"Fuck you," she said, facing her sister. "I'm not taking you to the hospital."

"No," she whined. "I'm sorry. Please take me. I didn't mean to say that."

"First of all, stop whining. You're not five anymore. Second of all, get over your hangover and I'll think about it."

Amber was going to say something else but Kristen's look on her face was one of a warning, her not even wanting to risk it. She shut her mouth and went upstairs to get ready.

She showered and took some Tylenol before getting dressed and grabbing her backpack. In her backpack was a book she was reading to Max, Max's favorite stuffed animal, and tissues just in case being in the room was too much for her.

Amber grabbed her walkman for the car ride. She went downstairs and saw Kristen in the car. She got in the passenger's seat and put her headphones on and turned on the loop of Running Up That Hill.

Amber opened her eyes and was met with the huge hospital, bad memories instantly flooding her mind.

"Ma'am, you need to tell us what happened," an ETM spoke to Amber.

"I don't... I can't... I don't..."

Max Mayfield, the fearless member of the Hawkins gang, found herself in a dire situation when she was attacked by the powerful sorcerer Vecna. The attack left her severely injured, and she had to be rushed to the hospital. Her girlfriend, Amber Wilson, was by her side throughout the ordeal, along with Lucas and Erica Sinclair. The group rode in the ambulance together, with Max lying unconscious on the stretcher.

As they sped towards the hospital, Amber couldn't control her emotions and began to sob uncontrollably. She was terrified that Max might not make it, and the thought of losing her forever was too much to bear. Lucas tried to comfort her, holding her tightly in his arms as they rode in the back of the ambulance. Erica sat quietly, deep in thought, hoping and praying that Max would pull through.

When they arrived at the hospital, Max was immediately taken to the emergency room. Doctors and nurses swarmed around her, trying to stabilize her condition. Amber and the others were forced to wait outside, feeling helpless as they waited for news about Max's condition.

As they waited, Amber continued to cry, fearing the worst. Lucas and Erica tried to stay strong for her, offering words of comfort and support as Lucas held her hand tightly. They knew that Max was a fighter, but they also knew that her injuries were severe, and her chances of survival were uncertain.

In the end, Max did pull through, but it was a close call. Her friends and loved ones were relieved and grateful, but the experience left them shaken. They realized that life was fragile and that they needed to cherish every moment they had together. Max's brush with death was a wake-up call, reminding them of the importance of love, friendship, and the bonds that held them all together.

"Amber," Kristen snapped her sister out of her thoughts. "You okay?"

"Yeah," she replied. "Yeah. See you later."

She got out of the car and waved to her older sister as she drove away. She looked up at the building, took a deep breath, and walked inside.

"Hey, Amber," Debbie, a receptionist at the hospital, greeted Amber.

"Hey, Debbie," Amber smiled. "Um, I had a question."

"Yes?" she nodded her head.

"Is there any news? About when Max could potentially wake up?"

"No," Debbie shook her head while frowning. "I'm sorry, Amber. If there ever is, you'll be the first person to know. You've visited her every day. You're a really great friend and Maxine is lucky to have you."

"Thank you, Debbie," Amber smiled as she went towards the elevator.

Amber hated being in the hospital, not just because of her own medical issues, but mostly because of how her girlfriend was in such a fragile condition. The sight of Max hooked up to machines and lying in a sterile hospital bed made Amber's heartache. She couldn't stand seeing the person she loved in such a vulnerable state. Every time she visited Max, she could feel the weight of the hospital's oppressive atmosphere bearing down on her.

As Amber walked through the hospital corridors to get to Max's room, she was struck by how depressing the entire environment was. The walls were painted a sickly shade of green, the floors were cold and hard, and the lighting was dim and gloomy. It felt like the whole place was designed to sap people's energy and hope. Every time Amber visited, she couldn't help but think back to her own traumatic experiences in hospitals, and it made her feel even more powerless and depressed.

Despite her overwhelming emotions, Amber managed to use her supernatural ability to walk through the halls to get to Max's room. She was determined to be there for her girlfriend, even if it meant enduring the hospital's oppressive atmosphere. But the experience left a deep impression on her, and she couldn't help but feel resentful of the hospital and everything it represented. She knew that it was necessary for people to receive medical care, but she wished there was a way to make it less soul-crushing for everyone involved.

She opened the door to Max's room and instantly felt a wave of sadness wash over her. She looked over at the wall and saw the drawing of them still on the wall, making her lightly smile at it. Amber sat by Max's bedside in the hospital, holding her unconscious girlfriend's hand. The room was silent except for the beeping of the machines monitoring Max's vital signs. Amber sighed deeply before beginning to speak.

"Hey Max, it's me, Amber. I hope you can hear me. I just wanted to update you on everything that's been happening while you've been asleep. I've been keeping up with our TV shows, but I haven't been able to watch them without you. I even tried to watch our favorite movie, but I had to stop because it just wasn't the same without you."

Amber's voice wavered as tears welled up in her eyes. "But I miss you so much. I can't wait for you to wake up and see that we won. We saved the world, Max. And we did it together."

Amber took a deep breath and wiped away her tears. "I know you're going to be okay. You're a fighter, Max. You've fought your way through so much already. You can fight your way through this too."

As Amber spoke, Max's hand twitched slightly, and Amber's heart leaped with hope. "Max? Can you hear me? If you can, please squeeze my hand. Let me know you're there."

There was no response, and Amber's hope faded. She leaned over and rested her head on Max's hand, tears streaming down her face. "Please wake up, Max. I need you. We need you. You're my world, Max. Please come back to me."

Amber stayed by Max's side for hours, talking to her unconscious girlfriend and telling her how much she loved her. As she spoke, she felt a sense of peace wash over her. She knew that Max was strong and resilient and that she would fight her way back to Amber. And until that day, Amber would be there for her, holding her hand and loving her with all her heart.

She just hoped and prayed that day would hurry.
