VIOLET LEDGER sat in the backseat of her family van, picking at the polish on her nails while Mr. and Mrs. Ledger argued in the two front seats.

Ever since the incident in New Jersey, the Ledgers had been meaning to get on the move, and they finally did it today. Where they were going, Violet couldn't tell you, all she knew was she never wanted to see another car again after this trip.

"Are we there yet?" Violet's brother, Dash, groaned from his seat.

"Does it look like we're there yet?" Violet mocked, staring mindlessly at the desert outside the car window. She lost track of how many times he had asked that question, she stopped counting after 28.

Dash glared at her, ready to retort back, when Mrs. Ledger interrupted.

"Enough, you two," Helen Ledger warned from the front seat. "And to answer your question, no, we're not there yet. We still have 36 more hours to go."

"36 MORE HOURS?!" The two exclaimed loudly, forgetting about their quarrel temporarily. Dash leaned forward excitedly, "Are we going to Hawaii?!"

"California," Helen corrected. "And don't think you're getting a vacation now. Dash, you start school on the 22nd, Violet, you're on the 23rd-" Dash interrupted with a whine and Helen shot him a glare from the mirror. "I don't wanna hear it, young man. I better not get any calls from your teacher. You're getting a fresh start at this school, I don't want you ruining it."

Violet held back a laugh as Dash agreed, promising to do what their mother says. She knew he didn't mean it. Dash had picked back up pranking recently and had been called to the principal's office on more than a few occasions. They still had yet to prove he was guilty of the pranks, but technology is getting more advanced these days, and using his skills at school was still risky.

"And Violet, please socialize more. You were going so well, and I don't know what happened between you and that Rydinger boy but-"

"-Nothing happened between me and Tony, mom," Violet cut her off with a flushed face. "We broke up, it happens. He didn't do anything wrong."

She heard her dad scoff from the front seat but chose to ignore him, choosing to look out the window instead.

"Night, mom."

Violet smiled at her mother and closed the door behind her gently. She made her way over to the bed sitting in the corner of the room and flopped down onto the mattress, letting out an anxious sigh she had been holding in since she found out they were moving.

The past few days had been a lot for the girl, and to make matters worse, she had school in the morning.

It wasn't like she hated school, or that she was afraid of being the new girl. With her family's job, she was forced to move around and switch schools a lot, meaning she had already been the new girl too many times to count. She'd done it a thousand times before, she could do it again.

But she just didn't want to. Not this time, at least, things were different this time.

Before they moved, Violet had everything going for her. She was open with more people, she went out of her comfort zone constantly, and she stopped acting nervous around everyone. She even managed to confess to her crush, Tony, who eventually became her (now ex)boyfriend. Everything was perfect leading up to the move.

When she found out they were going away, she was crushed. She knew she shouldn't have been surprised, but the idea of having to move again had completely slipped her mind. And just like that idea, her confidence slipped too. Much to her parent's disappointment, the dark clothes made a return and Violet was back to hiding behind her hair.

Violet made herself comfy on her new bed as she reflected on the past month. Opening up was a mistake, she should have never done it in the first place. All this stress could have been avoided if she just didn't talk to anyone.

She wouldn't make this mistake twice. At this new school, she would go back to being wallflower Violet, even though deep down she knew that wasn't what she wanted.

The girl looked at her hand and smiled as it slowly disappeared. It was still there, she could still feel it, it was just unable to be seen.

Invisible. That's what she'd be.

A/N: Again, welcome to my new fanfiction!

Like I said before, this Ledger family is basically the Incredibles family, except in modern times and I've changed things up a little. They have to be a little different lol

And I don't have a face claim for the rest of the family because I can't seem to find anyone who fits. So picture them as you please, just keep in mind that their looks are based on the movie and will be written as so :)

Anyways, don't forget to comment, vote and/or share! Feedback is always appreciated :)
