The days passed in a blur, with every class, every meeting, and every assignment consuming your focus.

But despite your best efforts, you couldn't shake the image of Rin from your mind.

He was there in every room you entered, in every passing thought, his presence lingering like a shadow you couldn't outrun.

And every time you saw him, that ache in your chest grew just a little more unbearable.

It was late afternoon when you finally couldn't take it anymore. The building was mostly empty by the time the bell rang for the last class of the day.

You stood by the door, watching students trickle out, your thoughts racing.

You tried to force them into some semblance of order, but all that kept surfacing were the words you had tried so hard to ignore.

It wasn't fair to Rinโ€”he deserved to be free, to follow his dreams without worrying about someone like you.

But the selfish part of you, the part you tried to bury deep down, couldn't help but hope.

You couldn't stop wishing for something that could never be.

And today, something inside you cracked.

You found him by the lockers, leaning against the metal surface, his usual nonchalant posture hiding the weight in his eyes.

As soon as your eyes locked, you could feel the pull between you like gravity. You took a step forward, heart pounding in your chest, every instinct telling you to turn back.

But you couldn't.

"Rin," you called softly, your voice almost lost in the empty hall.

He turned toward you, his expression unreadable.

There was a brief moment of silence before you spoke again, the words coming out faster than you could think.

"Please don't be in love with someone else, please... wait for me, 'kay?"

Your voice cracked on the last words, and you quickly looked down, trying to fight back the sudden rush of emotions that threatened to overtake you.

Rin was silent for a moment, his eyes studying you with an intensity that felt like it was unraveling everything you'd spent so long hiding.

The weight of the room shifted, and for the first time in ages, you saw something more in his gazeโ€”a flicker of something vulnerable, something raw.

He stepped closer, and your breath caught in your throat.

The distance between you seemed impossibly small now, and yet you felt more exposed than ever.

"Y/n..." he whispered your name like it was a question, as if he were trying to understand what you were really asking.

You bit your lip, trying to keep your composure, but it was impossible.

"I just... I can't stand the thought of you with someone else. It feels like... like I'm invisible."

The words spilled out before you could stop them, and once they were out, they hung in the air like fragile glass.

Rin's expression softened, and for a split second, you thought he might say something that would make everything feel okay again.

But he didn't speak.

Instead, he closed the distance between you, his hand coming up to gently tilt your chin so you were forced to look up at him.

"Y/n," he said again, his voice barely audible, as though he was speaking more to himself than to you.

"You're not invisible. Not to me. You never will be."

The words hit you like a wave, crashing over the dam you'd built up around yourself.

You could feel the tears welling up in your eyes, the rush of emotions overwhelming you all at once.

You wanted to say something, anything, to make sense of what was happening, but your throat was tight, and no words seemed to fit.

Rin's thumb brushed lightly against your cheek, wiping away a tear before it could fall.

"I don't... I don't want to hurt you, Y/n. You deserve more than me."

The confession caught you off guard.

You blinked rapidly, trying to steady your breath.

"Rin, Iโ€”" You wanted to argue, to tell him that you didn't care about anything except being close to him.

But your voice faltered.

"You don't deserve someone who's too afraid to admit he's terrified of losing you," Rin continued, his words slow but steady.

His eyes held a weight, a raw honesty that made your chest tighten.

"I'm not perfect, and I can't promise everything will be easy... but I don't want to let you go either. Not without trying."

You stood frozen, not sure whether to pull away or close the distance even further.

The space between you felt like a chasm, one you weren't sure you were strong enough to cross.

But Rin's hand on your faceโ€”gentle, warmโ€”was grounding you in a way you never expected.

And then, as if he could sense your hesitation, Rin leaned forward, pressing his forehead gently against yours, his breath soft against your skin.

"Please don't walk away from me now."

Your heart skipped a beat at the sincerity in his voice, and for the first time in what felt like forever, the overwhelming weight in your chest began to lift, just a little.

"Rin," you whispered, a breathless admission more than a plea.

"I don't want to walk away. I never did."

He pulled back slightly, just enough to look you in the eyes, his own searching yours for any trace of doubt. There was none.

Not anymore.

"Then... stay." he said, his voice steady, his hand still resting gently on your cheek.

And in that moment, everything else faded.

The pain, the fear, the confusionโ€”everything seemed to blur as you finally, finally allowed yourself to believe in the possibility of something real. Together.
