A few hours had passed since Y/n had guided Rintarล on how to start on his poem. As hard as he tried, boredom still got the better of him. He blew air out of his mouth, making the strands of hair that were covering his eyes fly up.

"You bored?" Y/n hummed, making Rintarล glance in her direction.

After she had instructed him to do his work, she herself had started studying and taking personal notes, presumably for her debate tournament. Rin wanted to ask her, just to be sure, but she seemed really focused.

"I guess a little..." Rintarล sighed, turning his head to take a better look at Y/n.

He watched her as she leaned her head in the palm of one of her hands that rested on the salon table, while her other hand was busy writing away in her notebook. Her brows were slightly furrowed, deep in concentration. Her messy hair, which looked even messier than before, being tied back in a loose ponytail.

A small smile emerged on Rin's lips when he saw a ray of sunlight shining perfectly onto Y/n's angelic face. A warm, gloomy feeling rushed through his body, giving him a pleasant feeling.

Without looking up from her notebook, she softly chuckled at the guy sitting next to her, unconsciously erupting butterflies in his stomach.

"Why don't you take a break?" Rintarล asked, his voice being raspy due to not speaking up for a while.

Y/n chuckled again, before answering. "Yea I will, in a second..." She trailed off, writing down her last few words before closing her notebook.

Rin leaned down, resting his head in the palm of his hand while smirking at the girl next to him.

"What? Something's wrong?~" She asked coyly, dragging out her words.

"Why does something need to be wrong?" Rin asked a little confused, his brows furrowing.

"I don't know." She shrugged. "Maybe cause you're looking at me like that." She murmured, taking a strand of her and curling it around her finger.

"Oh, so I can't look at you?" He asked teasingly, getting very amused when Y/n got a little flustered and turned her head to the other side.

Rintarล couldn't help but chuckle at her as she had gotten a little shy from his question.

"So you're a Kuroko no basket fan?" Rin asked to switch the topic and start a conversation, referring to the big basketball poster that was plastered on the wall above her bed.

Y/n giggled deeply before turning to face Rin again, laying her head on her arms which were folded.

"Are you?!" She asked enthusiastically, her eyebrows unconsciously raising as the smile on her face grew.

Rintarล could feel his heart fluttering at the way she looked and smiled at him. Whenever they interacted at school, he'd feel shy, anxious even. But now that he was in her personal space, very close to her, talking about non-school related stuff, he felt...safe?

"Nah...My sister is though." He chuckled, slightly leaning back, resting his head on Y/n's bed.

"Well, you should tell your sister that she has great taste." She smiled at him, nodding her head as if she were proud of his sister.

A big, genuine smile appeared on Rin's face, which was weird, cause he rarely smiled genuinely.

"Is it your favorite anime?" Rin asked, seeming pretty intrigued. Rin was always the quiet one among his friends, as he only spoke up to comment on something, or answer a question when asked, but now he found himself actually wanting to talk to Y/n, wishing there wouldn't come an end to it.

Rin watched as Y/n readjusted on her cushion, sitting up straight.

"No, let's just say it... inspired me." Y/n said with squinted eyes as she stroked her chin, probably in an attempt to seem like she was deep in thought.

cute...

"Inspired how?" Rintarล grinned, tilting his head to the side, waiting for her to elaborate.

"I actually wanted to sign up for the basketball team."

"To pl-"

"The boy's team."

Rintaro's brows furrowed in confusion as he sat up straight.

"Why?" He asked, eager to know the answer.

"So I could become their coach- well, more like their manager, since they already have a coach..." Y/n rambled, Rintarล just admiring her features.

He wasn't really listening to anything she was saying, till a certain something made him wake up from his daydreaming.

"Wait- What do you mean you wanna make the basketballers take off their shirts?!" Rin exclaimed, making Y/n grin at him in response.

"I'm just playing with you~" She laughed, her hand playfully squeezing Rintarล's bicep.

Rin took a quick glance at Y/n's hand on his arm, his heart starting to pick up a faster pace again.

"You could become our manager-" Rintarล blurred out, his cheeks starting to heat up as a light blush crept on his face.

"What, so I could tell you all to take off your shirts?" Y/n asked in a flirtatious tone, leaning closer to Rintarล a little.

"I wouldn't mind..." He trailed off, making eye-contact with her.

Right now, Rin didn't feel anxious at all, but on the contrary, confident and... tended.

Yea, Y/n taught him that word...

She blinked at him before tilting her head to the side. Her lips parted as she was about to say something when there was a sudden knock on the door.

The two teenagers almost jumped out of their skin, immediately pretending to do something else, as if they were doing something suspicious.

"Come in!"

Y/n's mom opened the door, leaning into the doorway as she examined the salon table.

"You ate all of them?!" Y/n's mother exclaimed as she stepped foot into the room, picking up the now empty tray which was filled with snacks just hours ago.

"Not ALL of them, I left a few..." Y/n defended, mumbling the last part, making a small smile appear on Rintarล's face as he shook his head.

Y/n's mom picked up on that, a small grin appearing on her face as well now.

"So, how's the studying going?" She asked, looking at her daughter.

"Perfectly fine." Y/n answered, lazily slouching down afterwards.

"Good to hear." Her mother smiled, turning around to leave the room again as she had taken away the tray.

"Oh- before I forget." She stopped in her tracks, turning around to look at the boy sitting beside her daughter.

"Rintarล baby, would you like to stay for dinner?"

Rin's eyes widened before he quickly turned his head to Y/n, who kindly smiled at him as she nodded her head, as if she was saying that she'd be okay with him staying for dinner.

"Uh- yea, sure..." He shyly answered, rubbing the back of his neck.

"Great! I'll call you guys down when dinner's ready then." Y/n's mom smiled before exiting the room, closing the door behind her.

Yea, great...

Rintarล walked behind Y/n, watching her skip down the steps of the stairs. He chuckled to himself at the sight, holding tight to the banister to make sure he didn't slip. He really didn't want to embarrass himself in front of her.

Rin watched Y/n walk up to her mother in the kitchen, helping her set up the table, the smell of delicious food reaching his nostrils.

He awkwardly stood near the dinner table, watching Y/n walk back and forth from the kitchen to the dining area, each time with different items.

She glared at him as she put down glasses for each assigned seat.

"Y/n, should I help you? Ahw Rin, how nice of you!" Y/n mocked Rintarล's voice, then pretending to answer her own question seriously.

"Y/n, should I help you?" Rintarล asked, awkwardly rubbing the back of his neck.

"No Rin. There's no need for help, since I've already set the table myself. Sit." She smiled sarcastically before rolling her eyes and instructing him to sit down on the opposite side of where she took a seat.

"Yes ma'am." He answered, doing as she told him immediately without thinking.

Y/n glanced in his direction, playfully scoffing when he smiled at her.

"Y/n, do you want a small or big portion?" Y/n's mom yelled from the kitchen, behind the stove.

"Big!" Y/n yelled back, hearing her mom hum in response.

"I'm surprised you're still hungry, after finishing all those snacks..." Rintarล teased, brushing his feet against Y/n's to get her attention.

Y/n reverted her eyes from her mom who set down her plate in front of her to Rintarล, who was 'innocently' smiling at him. She clicked her tongue before picking up her utensils.

"And what about you Rin? Would you like a small or big portion?" Y/n's mom asked, already walking back to the kitchen.

"You can give him a big portion as well, he needs it to gain muscle, so he can block better." Y/n smirked at him before softly kicking Rin's leg, finding his reaction quite amusing.

"Excuse you?!" He exclaimed, making Y/n choke on her food.

"My blocks are perfectly fine?" Rin asked rhetorically, his brows furrowed in confusion as head tilted to the side.

"Are they though?..." Y/n trailed off, slowly bringing her glass up to her mouth to take a sip.

Rin was about to speak up when Y/n's mom placed his dinner plate in front of him on the table. "There you go baby, hope you enjoy it!" She said softly before walking back to the kitchen, making sure that the stove was really off.

"Thank you Mrs. Ojiro." Rintarล thanked Y/n's mom before taking a bite, immediately blowing hot air out of his mouth afterwards as he didn't blow on his food before taking a bite and it was hot.

"And? Do you like it?" Y/n asked, genuinely curious, her feet swinging back and forth from under the table, occasionally hitting Rin's legs, which unlike hers, did reach the ground.

"Yea, It's really good." He answered, watching Y/n's face light up.

"Partially because I helped-"

"I KNOW YOU DID NOT JUST SAY THAT!?" Y/n exclaimed, her jaw wide open.

Rintarล couldn't help but chuckle at her reaction, he thought his joke was genius.

"You can taste that your mom and I cooked this dish with love-"

"Shut your mouth before I shut it for you-"

"Excuse you-"

The two teenager bickered back and forth, pointing fingers at each other as they joked.

"I'M HOME!"

Both Y/n and Rintarล looked up at the familiar voice yelling from the front door.

Some rustling sounds came from the hallway before a well-known someone appeared in the doorway.

"HMP!" Y/n exclaimed, quickly chewing the food that was still in her mouth.

"Ahw~ You set the table for me." Aran coed, walking behind his sister's dining chair, placing a hand on her shoulder as he passed.

"Rintarล my BOY! What's up?" Aran yelled from the kitchen as he was washing his hands by the sink.

"Hmm-" Rin hummed, swallowing his food before answering his friend. "The sun- AGH."

Y/n and Aran locked eyes as she had kicked Rintarล from under the table, both siblings completely done with his answer.

"That hurt~" Rintarล whined, retreating his legs from where Y/n could reach.

"Good." She smiled at him, bringing her spoon to her mouth.

Aran put the lid back on the pan after he made himself a plate and made his way to the dinner table, setting his plate down next to his friend.

He sighed and said grace before diving into his food, Y/n and Rintarล locking eyes and chuckling in response.

"So..." Rin started, waiting for Aran to look at him, signaling that he had his full attention.

"How was the practice match today?" Rintarล said, a little disappointed that he had to miss out.

"We won, but it sure was intense. We took the first set but they were quick to take the second. We missed your blocking skills..."

Rintarล glanced at Y/n, making sure that she had heard what her brother just said. Y/n ran her tongue over her teeth as she broke eye-contact with Rin, clearly not wanting to admit that he was good at what he did.

After Aran was done with talking about the practice match, Rin asked him what he thought of the food.

"It's good, I love it!" Aran admitted, nodding his head in approval.

Rintarล slowly turned his head, a smirk appearing on his lips as she smirked at Y/n, who spoke up.

"Rin cut the onions." She shrugged.

Aran made a sour face and immediately started coughing, grabbing his glass to drink a little.

"Nah cause I had a feeling something was different, I was just trying not to be mean-"

"Oh please~" Rintarล scoffed, dragging out his words as he rolled his eyes.

"Nah, I'm serious!" Aran coughed, Y/n bursting out into laughter as well.

"You two are pathetic, seriously..." Rintarล said in disbelief, pointing at both siblings who were dying of laughter.

"Thank you for helping me today, I really appreciate it..." Rin softly spoke, a small smile on his lips as he stood outside on Y/n's porch, looking down at her standing in the doorframe, rubbing her hands over her arms as the cold evening air had caused goosebumps to appear on her skin.

"Yeah of course!" She chuckled airily.

After dinner, Rintarล, Aran and Y/n had cleared the table and washed the dishes together. After Aran tried to convince him to sleep over at their place, Rin having to kindly turn down his offer as he didn't want to invade their space any longer than he already had.

"It's so late already." Y/n mumbled. "You know you could just stay over, right?" She continued.

"Yea, but it's fine. I will next time." He grinned coyly, Y/n tiredly rolling her eyes.

"Oh- before I forget." Rin reached into his pocket and pulled out a small envelope, handing it to Y/n, who cautiously took it from him, her brows furrowing in confusion.

"That's part of the deal..." He said as Y/n's eyes widened, almost popping out of her skull.

"W-what? Rintarล I can't take this?" Y/n's lip quivered in disbelief as she looked at the amount of money in the envelope. She quickly closed it again before handing it back to Rin.

"Yes you can." He chuckled, pushing the envelope back into her arms.

"B-but this is more than- This is like, three-no, four-double the amount you were supposed to give." She stuttered, having a hard time coming out of her words.

"Rin please-"

Rintarล interrupted her.

"Y/n...Take it." He said in a stern, yet gente voice.

He could tell that she was contemplating on whether she'd say something again but chuckled when he saw that she swallowed her pride, sighing deeply as she looked up into her eyes.

Rin's eyes flickered from her eyes to her lips and back.

Man, he really wanted to kiss her right now...

He was about to speak up when someone yelled from inside. "Don't stay up too late Y/n. You have to wake up early in the morning!"

"I know!" Y/n yelled back, awkwardly rubbing the back of her neck in embarrassment.

"Right-" Rin started. "Win that debate tournament tomorrow." he finished.

"Don't tell me what to do~" She playfully rolled her eyes, making Rin chuckle in response.

For a moment, it was silent between the two as they were laughing and staring at each other. Rin looked down to Y/n's hands who were still rubbing her cold arms.

"Well, I can tell you're cold. I wouldn't dare tell you to go inside right now." He sarcastically rolled his eyes, his heart fluttering as he heard Y/n's laugh.

"But I will win tomorrow, you'll see." She smiled at Rin.

"I know..."

...

"GO TO BED Y/N!!!" Y/n's mother yelled from inside the house.

"OKAY OKAY!" Y/n exclaimed irritatedly.

Rin chuckled a little as he shook his head.

"I won't hold you up any longer... Goodnight Y/n, see ya at school." Rintarล waved goodbye as he walked down the porch.

"Goodnight Rintarล~ Be safe." She yelled at him, watching him put up his thumb as he disappeared into the distance before closing the door.

A warm, gloomy feeling rushed through Y/n's body as she only had one thought in mind.

I really like Suna Rintarล...
