Moving down into the basement, the group of students eagerly awaited the results that Jungwon was searching for, perhaps this would finally give them an inclination as to who the Mafia were. They watched the girl scroll through the computer, the only sound in the room being the clicking of her mouse.

However, all their hopes were crushed when they discovered that the files on the computer had been deleted. That made the students turn their annoyance onto Yoonseo, blaming the girl for tricking them, claiming that she was a Mafia. As an argument broke out about her innocence, Jiwoo yawned and rest her head on her palm.

A siren sounded over the speakers as Kyungjun turned to leave, purposefully bumping into Jiwoo as he walked out of the basement. Turning around, he flashed a smile to the girl over his shoulder as she rolled her eyes.

"Ko Kyungjun voted for Lee Yoonseo. Kim Jinha, Shin Seungbin voted for Lee Yoonseo. Cha Yujun voted for Lee Yoonseo."

Jiwoo gaped as the people who had voted left, not even allowing the girl a moment to defend herself. When two other students attempted to leave, Yoonseo begged them to wait a moment as she promised that she would prove her innocence if she was given time. Jungwon added to this, confirming that she would restore the files.

With that in mind, the others left and Jiwoo sighed, leaning back in her chair as she watched Yoonseo put her head in her hands. While Junhee attempted to comfort the distressed girl, Jiwoo questioned Jungwon on how long it would take. Upon learning that she would be done by eleven, the girl decided she was useless sitting around.

Mumbling to her brother to wake her up later, she closed her eyes and attempted to sleep away the day, take away the burden that rest on her shoulders.

Once her eyes shut, she was asleep, although her dreams were anything but restless, burdened by the constant reminders of the past.

At eleven, as promised, Junhee woke the girl up and she forced her body to adapt to being awake once again. She yawned and pulled herself to her feet, knowing if she sat down she would probably drift off to sleep again. By the time she had fully woken up, the other students were gathered in the basement, waiting around for Jungwon to show them the footage that they were counting on to prove Yoonseo's innocence.

Typing followed before they saw the screen change, showcasing a visual of a hallway on the second floor. This peaked their interests and they watched closely as Jungwon explained that she had managed to restore the footage from yesterday.

Before anyone could get their hopes up, the footage begun to glitch and they glanced at it confusedly. A sudden flicker directed their attention to the floor where they saw a flicker of a flame creeping towards them. Acting quickly, Junhee grasped the fire extinguisher and dispersed the flames, attempting to salvage the recordings.

Once the fire was out, Kyungjun managed to start another argument, accusing Yoonseo of attempting to burn them all to death. However, just as the bickering was set to continue, a student directed their attentionn to a small screen where a glitch was seen. It evened out and showed the pool, a girl suddenly appearing out of nowhere.

Jiwoo jumped back slightly, feeling the person at her side press their hands against her shoulders to balance her so she would not fall. Turning around, her eyes met Kyungjun's and she immediately directed her attention back to the screen.

Yoonseo held out a photograph and attempted to explain that this 'ghost' they were seeing was in this photograph that she had found.

Grasping the photograph, Kyungjun scoffed. "Stop with your nonsense. It's a fake video you guys made."

"You idiot, look at the timecode." Jungwon snapped, motioning to the screen to show that the timecode showed that this was present time, it was happening as they spoke.

With that, Yoonseo continued her explanation as she shared how they should be attempting to figure out who made them play this game of Mafia. Their eyes moved back to the screen, the girl staring right back at them.

So, with not many other options, the group of students made their way to the pool, searching for any clues as to who this 'ghost' was. Jiwoo stared at the pool, frowning as she recalled their first night here, how Yoonseo had been pushed into that very pool.

Her eyes raked over the students, landing on where Kyungjun was leaning against the wall. As she walked over to him, she paused and caught his attention.

"Are you just not going to help?" Jiwoo questioned, motioning to how he was just sat around and doing nothing.

Rolling his eyes, Kyungjun glanced at the girl. "What, search for a ghost? No, we are not five, ghosts don't exist."

"Don't be a smartass, I meant looking for evidence about who has us here, clearly the girl has something to do with them." Jiwoo corrected him, using a dramatic gesture to get her point across.

For a second, she almost believed that he was actually going to listen and help the search but he merely shrugged. "You guys got it covered, I'm sure you can manage." He told her with an upturn of his lips.

Unamused, she scoffed and moved away from him, muttering "asshole" under her breath as she moved to stand by Nahee. Tapping her finger against her thigh, she noticed that Junhee, Jungwon and Yoonseo were approaching them, their expressions dejected.

Kyungjun noted how they were returning and had not found any evidence to back up their claim about the ghost. "Hey, it's almost midnight, will you not vote?" He asked them, referencing that they had no evidence for any Mafias.

"How about we vote in a different way?" Junhee began and Jiwoo grimaced, not liking the sound of his plan.

From where she stood by the wall, Somi rolled her eyes and pushed herself off, walking to stand near the group. "Junhee, we don't have time right now. How can we do it differently?" She asked, crossing her arms over her chest.

Kyungjun nodded in agreement at this. "You almost killed us all. What nonsense are you saying now?"

"Almost killed is a bit extreme, it was a tiny fire that was immediately extinguished, grow up, would you." Jiwoo snarked, her eyes narrowing as they landed on the boy's.

Jungwon stepped towards them, moving her hair out of her eyes. "We can listen to him first before we decide." She commented, snapping the attention onto the trio stood opposite the remaining students.

Turning their gaze onto Junhee, the boy swallowed harshly. "Out of fourteen votes, Yoonseo received four. You die when majority votes for you, otherwise, you won't die. We can divide the remaining votes so that she isn't voted by the majority." He explained to the group, who stared blankly at him.

"So you want to make another person receive four votes like Yoonseo to make it a tie." Jungwon summarised his explanation and he nodded.

"That way, all of us will vote without abstaining." Junhee finished, awaiting the responses of his classmates who took a moment to process what he was saying with them.

It was Somi who spoke first, furrowing her brows as she comprehended what he was telling them. "But who will become the one to receive the same number of votes?" She asked and at her question, the students begun to look at one another.

Nausea pooled in the pit of Jiwoo's stomach and she kept repeating in her head, no, but she knew what he was going to do. It was stupid to try and talk him out of it, once he made his mind up on something there was no changing his mind. It did not mean she had to like it.

After a second, her worries were confirmed as he spoke up, "vote for me." He told the group, wincing as Jiwoo squinted at him.

"Jin Dabum voted for Kim Junhee. Kim Jiwoo voted for Kim Jiwoo."

The other announcements went out of her mind as she looked over at her brother, catching his eye as she frowned. There was no chance she was voting for her brother, even if he was Mafia, she would rather he kill her than vote for him. This plan was idiotic, anyone could see that and she could not believe he was offering himself up to be voted.

Words spilled to the tip of her tongue but she could not open her mouth to voice them. So, all she could do was shake her head at her brother, hoping this was just a torturous nightmare, she would wake up and they would not be at this Youth Centre anymore.

They would all be fine.

Once everyone finished voting, they waited anxiously for the next announcements to come, anxious that they had wrongfully sentenced another classmate to their death.

Voting is over.

"It worked," a student cried out in disbelief, glancing down at their phone, "it worked, it actually worked."

Jiwoo knew better than to be relieved, nothing was ever that easy and they should have known this from the very start.

"As Lee Yoonseo and Kim Junhee received the same number of votes, hold the second round of voting for the two for five minutes. Only those who didn't vote for either of them in the first round will vote again. If they're tied again, everyone will be executed."

Freezing, Jiwoo thought was going to faint, gripping onto her phone tighter. It was the obvious choice who she was going to vote for but she glanced between her close friend and her brother, hating that she was forced to make this choice.

As her lip trembled, she frowned and looked towards Yoonseo, the tearful girl unable to move as she processed their situation. "Yoonseo, I really am sorry." Jiwoo apologised as she pressed accept on her phone, that familiar siren following shortly.

"Kim Jiwoo voted for Lee Yoonseo."

Just at the girl voted, the lights shut out and the room was filled with a blue tint, that haunting siren sounding to increase the anxiety among the students. As the remaining students panicked over who to vote, they were abruptly cut off by the annoucement.

"Kim Somi voted for Lee Yoonseo."

Walking towards the girl, Somi grasped the photograph from her hands and begun to rip it up in front of her. "It was strange when she talked about the ghost and dragged us into this. We were going to vote for Yoonseo, hurry up!"

Jiwoo glanced at the girl with a guilty expression, she did not want either of them to die, but she could not stand by and watch her brother die.

"This is not right!" Jungwon yelled back, stepping towards Somi as Jiwoo took a step towards her brother, as if attempting to seek comfort from being around him. "Don't vote for her, seriously."

Once again another argument was summoned as they panicked about the new conditions, the siren not doing much to help with the tension.

Grasping his sister's hand, he intertwined their fingers and she turned to look at him with furrowed brows. Immediately, she mumbled no as she got a bad feeling, knowing he was going to do something stupid. As she shook her head, feeling unwanted tears prick at her eyes, she felt him squeeze her hand.

Dropping her hand, he took a step forward. "It's me," Junhee announced to the students, "I'm Mafia. So vote for me."

"Junhee, stop it," Jiwoo warned, shaking her head as she attempted to grab his hand again, but the boy only pushed her away, "you're not Mafia, I know, I can..." Before her sentence could be finished, he looked at her and shook his head, a silent warning for her to stop before she said too much.

When he turned back to the group, Junhee saw Yoonseo also shaking her head. "Hey, why are you saying that?"

"Are you crazy?" Somi muttered, stepping towards the boy with an irritated expression, unable to believe the idiocy.

Swallowing harshly, Junhee continued, attempting to ensure all votes were cast to him rather than Yoonseo. "I told you to hand in your phones so that you can't vote." He explained, keeping his eyes directed to the floor because he knew if he looked in his sister's direction he would not be able to continue. "I was the one who deleted the security camera footage. I'm sorry, I did it because I wanted to survive."

Jiwoo shook her head, wanting to force herself to voice her protests, even use her ability and out herself as Police just to ensure he survived. Instead, he continued and looked up from the pool side floor. "But killing people, I can't do it anymore."

That part, Jiwoo did not think he was lying about. He held too much burden, believing it was his responsibility to keep everyone safe and well, even though he could not stop what had happened. Junhee believed he was responsible for the deaths of his classmates, this was his way of punishing himself.

A tear rolled down her cheek and she did not even bother to remove it. "I knew it when he was running around with an axe." Kyungjun called out unhelpfully and Jiwoo clenched her jaw, restraining the urge to push the boy into the pool. "Just vote for that jerk and end this!"

While Yoonseo tried to reassure the others that it was not him, he was not Mafia, Jiwoo looked down at the floor, the bad feeling increasing the more the time passed.

"Choi Mina voted for Kim Junhee."

Jiwoo saw her brother finally look at her and through teary eyes he smiled and she felt her world crumble beneath her. She could faintly recall Kyungjun discreetly attempt to force her to follow him, prepare to hide before they were all forced to sleep. She pushed him off, shaking her head as she kept her eye on her brother, refusing to accept that this was the end.

"Im Eunchan voted for Kim Junhee."

Kyungjun let the girl go and with one last cautious glance in her direction, he was out of the door, locating a place to hide for the night.

"Nam Yeonwoo voted for Kim Junhee."

Jiwoo remained where she was as she watched the others attempt to pull Somi away as she pleaded for them not to vote for the boy. All she could do was stare at her brother, her best friend, as he accepted his death. Jungwon approached the girl and attempted to prompt her into moving away but she just remained where she was.

Dropping against the wall, she closed her eyes and felt the tears flow as she awaited the final announcement.

"Kim Junhee got the most votes and he will be executed."

Jiwoo heard Yoonseo pleading for the boy as she was dragged away but all the girl could do was stare at her brother.

"You're a fucking idiot, you know that, right." Jiwoo yelled at him, but he smiled in response and it took everything in her not to scream.

Junhee bent down next to his sister and pulled her to her feet. "I don't want you to watch," he told her and lightly pushed her towards the door, hesitantly, she walked towards the door, knowing that she was turning her back on her best friend, "Jiwoo," the girl spun around, "don't blame yourself."

The girl nodded and choked by another sob as she turned around, shutting her eyes as she quickened her pace to a jog. She hated it, hated how she had just turned her back on the one person she loved more than anything, the one person who had stuck by her no matter the horrendous choice she made.

His screams haunted her as she left, wanting desperately to turn back and just be with him, support him the way he had supported her all those times before.

Jiwoo knew that as much as she wanted to, she could not do that, she would not betray his final wish.

Jiwoo eventually made it to a small room and shut the door behind her, pressing her hand to her mouth as she dropped to the floor. Choked sobs left her lips as she realised that he was gone, she would never see him again.

Kim Jiwoo was alone.
