The moment we walked into my apartment, Madelyn sighed dramatically, kicking off her heels with a thud. She flopped onto the couch, stretching her legs out and groaning softly.

"I swear, those shoes were invented to torture women," she muttered, leaning back and closing her eyes.

I smirked, setting my keys down and grabbing her a glass of water. "You looked incredible, though. Totally worth the pain."

She cracked one eye open, shooting me a playful glare. "Says the woman in sneakers all night."

I chuckled, handing her the glass as I knelt in front of her. "Fair point. But I still had the best-looking date in the room."

Her cheeks flushed slightly as she took a sip. "Flattery won't get you out of rubbing my feet."

"I wasn't trying to," I replied, gently grabbing her ankle and lifting her foot onto my thigh.

She gasped softly, laughing. "Oh, I didn't think you'd actually do it."

I grinned, my thumbs pressing into the arch of her foot. "You had a long night. Let me take care of you."

Madelyn melted instantly, her head dropping back against the couch. "Oh my god," she sighed, her voice breathy. "You're dangerous, Evans."

I laughed softly, working my fingers along the ball of her foot, then up to her toes. "You deserve to be pampered, Maddie. Tonight was all about you."

Her eyes fluttered open, a small smile tugging at her lips. "It really was perfect. You made me feel so loved."

"That's the goal," I said simply, switching to her other foot. "Anything to see you smile like this."

She studied me quietly for a moment, her expression softening. "You're really something else, you know that?"

I looked up, catching the faint shimmer in her eyes. "I try."

Her smile faltered slightly as she sat up, resting her hand on my shoulder. "About earlier... I know you said there's nothing to worry about, but I just need to hear it again."

I placed her foot gently back on the couch and moved closer, taking her hands in mine. "Maddie, nothing happened. Scarlett and I... it's over. There's nothing between us. You're the only one I want."

She nodded slowly, but I could see the flicker of uncertainty in her eyes. "It's not that I don't believe you. It's justโ€”she's Scarlett Johansson. She has this... presence, and history with you."

I cupped her face gently, brushing my thumb along her cheek. "You have my heart, Madz. I promise, you'll never have to question that."

Her lips curved into a faint smile, and she leaned into my touch. "I trust you. I just... I guess I need to work on not letting things get to me."

"You're allowed to feel however you feel," I said softly. "But just know, I'll always be honest with you. You're my person, Madz."

Her smile grew, and she tilted her head, her gaze locking with mine. "You're pretty good at this whole reassurance thing."

"Only because I mean every word," I replied, leaning in to press a kiss to her forehead.

The tension melted away, and she laughed lightly, her fingers curling around mine. "Okay, now let's talk about how you completely embarrassed me in front of my parents."

I grinned sheepishly. "It wasn't that bad."

Her jaw dropped, and she smacked my arm. "Y/n! You said we were going to be busy when we got home. My dad nearly choked on his drink!"

I burst out laughing, pulling her into my lap as she glared at me. "Hey, I was just being honest!"

"Yeah whatever" she muttered, but her laughter betrayed her annoyance.

"And you love it," I teased, kissing the tip of her nose.

She shook her head, still smiling. "Barely."

. . .

Later, as we got ready for bed, I stood behind Madelyn in the bathroom, slowly unzipping her dress. My hands lingered on her bare shoulders, and I couldn't resist brushing my lips against her neck.

"You're so beautiful," I murmured, my voice dropping as my fingers lightly traced her skin. "It's unfair."

She shivered under my touch, turning to face me with a small, knowing smile. "You're really laying it on thick tonight."

I grinned, stepping closer. "What can I say? I've been holding back all night."

Her cheeks flushed, and she tilted her head, her eyes sparkling. "Holding back, huh?"

I nodded, leaning down until our noses brushed. "I didn't get to finish what I started earlier. Before the party."

Her lips parted, her breath catching slightly. "So, what are you waiting for?"

That was all the permission I needed. My lips crashed into hers, and she melted against me instantly, her arms wrapping around my neck.

The kiss deepened quickly, our movements growing more urgent as I guided her back toward the counter. My hands roamed her body, sliding down her back and over her hips, pulling her closer.

Her soft moan sent a shiver down my spine as I trailed kisses along her jaw and down to her collarbone. "You have no idea how hard it was to keep my hands off you tonight," I murmured against her skin.

Her fingers tangled in my hair, tugging lightly. "Then don't hold back now," she whispered, her voice trembling with anticipation.

I lifted her onto the counter, my hands slipping under the fabric of her dress as her legs wrapped around my waist. She gasped softly when my fingers brushed against her thigh, her head tilting back to give me better access to her neck.

I carried her into the bedroom, gently laying her down on the bed as our kisses grew deeper, more passionate. Her hands explored my body, tugging at the buttons of my shirt while I trailed kisses down her neck and along her shoulder.

"Y/n," she breathed, her voice soft but urgent.

"Hmm?" I murmured, pausing just long enough to meet her gaze.

"You're driving me crazy," she whispered, her lips curling into a smile.

"Good," I replied, leaning down to kiss her again.

Her laughter mixed with soft gasps as our movements became more deliberate, more connected.

Every touch, every kiss, every whispered word was electric, and as the night stretched on, all I could think was how lucky I was to call her mine.

Madelyn and I wasted no time getting our freak on. I don't know if it's just because it's her birthday but, she was showing me a different side of her, a rougher side and I was here for it.

Part of me thought that it was partially because of the Scarlett thing and well, if it is, I might want that to happen again.

Madz got on top of me riding me, her hips moving ferociously edging me closer and closer. She grabbed my hand, putting it around her neck as she smirked, somehow turning me on even more.

The apartment was quiet except for the soft hum of the ceiling fan and the occasional muffled sound of traffic from the street below.

I was curled up on the couch, one of Y/n's hoodies swallowing me whole. The sleeves were too long, but I liked it that wayโ€”it smelled like her, warm and familiar.

Y/n had left a little while ago to run some errands, promising she wouldn't be gone long. I'd been scrolling through my phone absentmindedly when her phone, left on the coffee table, began to buzz.

At first, I ignored it, figuring it was just a notification. But then it buzzed again, and this time, I glanced at the screen. Christopher โ™ก flashed across the display.

I hesitated for a second before picking it up. Answering a call from her brother wasn't exactly crossing a boundary, right?

"Hello?" I said, tucking the phone between my ear and shoulder.

"Hey, Y/n," Chris's familiar voice greeted, but there was a pause. "Wait, this isn't Y/n."

"No, it's Madelyn," I replied with a small laugh. "She left her phone while running errands. Do you want me to tell her you called?"

"Oh, no, that's fine. Just checking in. Let her know I said hi."

"Will do," I said warmly.

We exchanged a bit of small talk before hanging up, and as I went to set the phone back on the table, it buzzed again. My brows furrowed as I noticed a string of messages on the lock screen. The name that appeared made my stomach drop.

Scarlett Johansson ๐Ÿ˜ตโ€๐Ÿ’ซ

My pulse quickened as I stared at the screen, my curiosity warring with the nagging voice in my head telling me to leave it alone. But the messages kept buzzing in my mind, and before I knew it, I swiped to unlock the phone.

What I saw made my heart sink.

Scarlett Johansson ๐Ÿ˜ตโ€๐Ÿ’ซ:
I just wanted to say I'm sorry for everything.

Scarlett Johansson ๐Ÿ˜ตโ€๐Ÿ’ซ:
Do you ever think about what we had?

Scarlett Johansson ๐Ÿ˜ตโ€๐Ÿ’ซ:
I know I shouldn't be texting you, but I can't stop thinking about you...

My grip tightened on the phone as I read the messages again, my chest tightening with every word. She hadn't repliedโ€”every text was marked unreadโ€”but it didn't make the words sting any less.

Why hadn't Y/n told me Scarlett was texting her?

The door opened, and Y/n's voice broke the tense silence. "I'm back! Did you miss me?"

I turned slowly, still holding her phone. "We need to talk."

Her cheerful expression faltered when she saw my face. "What's wrong?"

I held up the phone, my voice sharp. "Care to explain why Scarlett is sending you messages like these?"

Her face fell, and she let out a quiet sigh, setting the bag of groceries on the counter. "Madz, I can explainโ€”"

"Then explain," I said, standing up from the couch. "Why didn't you tell me she was texting you? Were you just going to pretend this wasn't happening?"

She ran a hand through her hair, walking toward me cautiously. "No, I wasn't pretending. I saw the messages, but I didn't reply because they don't matter. Scarlett doesn't matter."

"Then why not tell me?" I asked, my voice trembling slightly. "It feels like you're hiding something."

"I wasn't hiding anything," she said firmly, her tone calm but resolute. "I didn't tell you because I didn't want to upset you over nothing. Look at the messages, babyโ€”they're all unread. I didn't even open them."

Her words made sense, but the knot in my chest didn't ease. "It's not just the messages, Y/n. It's the fact that she thinks she can still text you like this. Like she has some claim on you."

She stepped closer, her voice softening. "She doesn't, Madz. She doesn't have any part of meโ€”none. You do. I told her that last night when she tried to talk to me."

I blinked, the weight of her words sinking in. "What do you mean? What did she say?"

"She wanted to apologize," Y/n said carefully. "She started bringing up the past, but I shut it down. I told her I'm with you now, and that's all that matters."

I studied her face, searching for any sign of hesitation or doubt, but all I saw was sincerity. "Why was she even there last night?"

Y/n sighed, rubbing the back of her neck. "Flo brought her as a plus one. Honestly, I thought she was going to bring the guy she's been talking to. I didn't know Scarlett was coming until she walked in."

I folded my arms, my jaw tightening. "You should've told me as soon as you saw her."

"I know," she admitted, her shoulders sagging slightly. "I messed up there, and I'm sorry. But I didn't want to ruin your birthday. I figured she'd say hi, hang out with Flo, and leave."

I exhaled slowly, the anger simmering down but not completely gone. "Okay. But it can't happen again, Y/n. If she texts you, if she shows up, if anything happens, I need to know."

"You will," she promised, stepping closer and taking my hands in hers. "Madelyn, I love you. Scarlett is in the past. You're my present and my future. Please don't let her ruin what we have."

Her words broke through the lingering doubt, and I let out a shaky breath, leaning into her embrace. "I hate that she makes me feel like this."

"She doesn't have any power here," Y/n murmured, pressing a kiss to my temple. "You do. You're my everything."

I looked up at her, my lips curving into a small smile. She grinned, brushing her thumb along my cheek.

A laugh bubbled up despite myself, and I wrapped my arms around her neck.

I sighed, resting my forehead against hers. "Okay. But if she so much as looks at you funny, I'm throwing hands."

Y/n laughed, her arms tightening around me. "Deal. But for now, how about we forget all this and spend the day together? Just you and meโ€”no phones, no Scarlett, no drama."

My smile grew, the tension finally easing. "What did you have in mind?"

"Horseback riding," she said, grinning. "Then a picnic on the beach. Just us."

My heart swelled at her thoughtfulness, and I kissed her softly. "You're really the best, you know that?"

"Don't you forget it," she replied, her tone light and teasing.

. . .

The day unfolded perfectly. Y/n and I spent the morning horseback riding along a quiet trail, the warm breeze and golden sunlight making it feel like something out of a dream.

She was charmingly bad at controlling her horse, which resulted in a lot of laughter, and more than once, I had to guide her back on track.

"Who knew you'd be the horse whisperer?" she teased as I effortlessly led my horse forward.

"Maybe you're just not as good at everything as you think," I shot back with a playful grin, earning a mock gasp from her.

Afterward, we headed to the beach for a picnic Y/n had packed herself. She spread out a soft blanket, pulling out a basket filled with sandwiches, fruit, and more.

We sat close, the sound of waves crashing providing a soothing backdrop as we talked about everything and nothing.

By the time the sun began to set, painting the sky in hues of pink and orange, she surprised me with one last treat: ice cream from my favorite beachside stand. I couldn't stop smiling as we sat on the sand, sharing bites and watching the waves.

"This has been the perfect way to wrap up my birthday weekend," I said, leaning my head on her shoulder.

She kissed the top of my head, her voice soft. "You deserve perfect, Maddie. Always."

Later that evening, after we returned to her apartment, I scrolled through the photos we'd taken throughout the weekend
