We left the room quickly and quietly, unknowing of what we would find next.

~~~ 6 ~~~
As soon as we left the room, we knew what happened.
Every single zombie in sight had been shot with an arrow, effectively killing them all. We couldn't see the bodies from the window thanks to all of the stuff blocking it.
"It was the archers!" I turned to Gwi-nam with a little hope in my voice and my expression.
"Yeah. No shit," he responded.
"No, what I meant was that they must've come back from their competition today. And they've gotta be safe!"
"Mm. Why's that such a good thing?"
I wasn't too sure why I was happy. I couldn't think of anything, so I said, "I guess I'm just happy there's more survivors. Let's go."
With that, I ran off. Gwi-nam reluctantly followed me. I had an idea of where the archers were headed. I don't know why they were on the third floor, but it didn't change the fact that sooner or later, they would probably be in the gym.
All of the arrows were there. I should know, I did archery in my freshman year.
(A/n - Y/n is a 17/18 year old senior, depending on your birthday.)
I obviously didn't like it, and eventually quit. Everyone was way better than me, and I felt out of it. Plus, I didn't know anyone.
I stopped right before getting to the next hallway. "Be careful. They're close."
"Got any idea where they went?"
"Either an empty classroom for safety, or the gym to restock. I think they were looking for something. Must have ran out of arrows by now." Thankfully, the archers had cleared a pathway for us to follow. "Stay alert."
Gwi-nam nodded.
Before I could say or do anything else, he placed his hand on my right shoulder to stop me. "Are you sure you want to do this? The gym is on the first floor. We'd have to go through the cafeteria to get there."
I locked eyes with his. "Yes, I do." I looked away and paused. "Also, theres another way.. The ladder outside."
"Now you want to go outside?? Are you crazy?"
"A little. Now, are you in or are you out?" I asked.
He removed his hand from my shoulder while trying to hide a smile. He replied with, "Woah there." I wanted to throw myself off of a bridge.
I lightly punched Gwi-nam. "That's not what I meant, asshole."
"Alright, alright. I'm in, I'm in."
"It'll be quicker to go through a window."
"Are you requesting suicide? Hell no, I'm not jumping."
"Rope."
"Just go down the stairs. It'll be faster than trying to find rope in this god damn mess," he said.
"Fine," I replied. He did have a point.
We sneaked down the stairs. We were met with quite a few zombies, but as long as we worked as a team, we could avoid getting bitten.
My leg was not helping.
Everything hurts.
Ugh.
I continued to ignore the excruciating pain in my left half. Like I had a choice, right?
We made our way to the second floor.
Then to the first floor.
Gwi-nam and I hid behind the wall in the cleared hallway, out of sight from the zombies. The cafeteria had so many of them in it.
"Fuck! We're fucked, we're fucked, we're fucked!!" I whisper-yelled.
"Shh! Shut up," I heard Gwi-nam whisper back as he hit my arm.
"Sorry. How the hell do you want us to clear that?"
"We can't. Let's try your idea. See any windows?"
"Yeah. Right behind this wall." I pointed behind me to the wall.
"Can we make a run for it?"
"We got no choice. Go!" I yelled. This unintentionally drew in the attention of the zombies.
I ran first, opening the window. I kicked a zombie away from the window and reached for my knife to stab any more. I turned towards the cafeteria and motioned for Gwi-nam to go through the window first. He shot me a disapproving look, but went anyways, knowing we had little time.
As soon as he landed outside, he reached his hand back into the building. I grabbed his hand and he pulled me out through the window.
We were met with a little resistance as a zombie had grabbed my leg. "Shit!" I exclaimed. "Get the fuck off of me!" I yelled.
I kept kicking, but to no avail. I was simply prolonging my own death. "Knife! Use your knife! Kill it, y/n!" I could hear Gwi-nam trying to help me.
I was too busy pushing away zombies with my free hand with the knife in it to be able to stab the one at my foot.
Gwi-nam let go of my hand and jumped into the window, balancing on the windowsill. He pushed the zombie I was fighting with my hand down, which gave me the opening to stab the zombie at my foot. Had he waited a second more, I would've been bitten.
Gwi-nam pushed me out of the window and then jumped out right beside of me. He quickly closed the window after pushing a couple more off of the edge.
It seemed like the commotion and Gwi-nam's yelling had attracted some zombies from the outside. We could kill them since there weren't as many outside.
It was dark outside, however, the windows from the school and the outdoor lights made it easy to see everything around us.
Gwi-nam grabbed my hand firmly and we just stared running. The backdoor to the gym was just around the corner, and we were being tailed by more than enough zombies.
Gwi-nam dragged me up to the back gym doors. He tried to open it, but it was locked. "Shit!" he exclaimed loudly. This angered the zombies.
He pulled me down to the side of the elevated platform we were standing on, and we circled around the building. I was trying to keep up with his pace, but he was so fast. Fortunately, he never let go of my hand, and he kept pulling me with him.
We got to the front door, which was unlocked. He pushed the door open and threw himself and me inside before quickly latching the door and covering it with curtains. He squeezed my hand right before letting go.
Gwi-nam was acting strange, but not in the normal way. He wouldn't make eye contact with me.
He finally spoke up, "Sorry."
"For what? You saved my life."
"I shouldn't have just... grabbed your hand. Sorry." He still would not make eye contact with me, but instead made eye contact with the floor.
"What? No, it's okay. If you hadn't, I would have fallen behind. If anything, I should be thanking you."
He looked up at me for a second, and then looked away. He must've been embarrassed, so he stayed silent.
I walked through the gym. For once, Gwi-nam hadn't followed me. He stayed at the door, which was rattling from the snarling zombies crashing into it. He sat next to the door against the wall and fidgeted with his knife.
I looked around the room. It was untouched. "Hey. Gwi-nam. We need to unlock the door so that the archers can get in," I yelled from halfway across the gym.
"Tch. If they're smart, they won't go for the front door. It's overrun."
I glared at him, but eventually gave in. I walked towards the back door and unlocked it. I also walked around the room and checked all windows to make sure they were all latched but unlocked.
I walked around and inspected everything. I found nothing and decided I'd had enough of a long day. I already had a little bit of sleep, but Gwi-nam hadn't had any.
I walked up to him and confronted him about it, "Hey. You need sleep. Come on, it's safe." I was keeping my voice low so that the zombies near the door wouldn't come back.
"Someone needs to watch for zombies. I can do it."
"No, we're safe here. Just help me close all of the curtains." I scanned the room for a light switch. Well, there wasn't one that I could see from where I was standing. "And help me find a light switch. Then, we can barricade ourselves in the weight room."
Gwi-nam thought for a moment, and against his will, left the door to help me close curtains and find the light switches.
There wasn't a light switch, but there WAS a breaker box in the gym. I flickered the circuit breakers until I found the one for the gym. I got a cool idea, though.
What if I just flickered all of the lights on and off? Most people knew that the breaker box was in the gym, so maybe someone would come thinking there were surviving people here!
I switch them all off, then back on a few times.
Shit, it'd be great if I still remembered morse code.
Gwi-nam walked over to me. "Hurry. Let's barricade the weight room and get some sleep."
I nodded and followed him in. He closed the door and latched it. I don't know why, but the door to the weight room was super heavy-duty. Still, we piled some random heavy equipment around the door to barricade. It was sturdy and safe. It would also make a whole bunch of noise if someone were to try to break in.
I shoved two benches together against a wall to make a comfy place to sleep. Gwi-nam did the same on the other side of the room.
It was so much more comfortable than the floor.
So.
Much.
More.
And now we wait. Sleep is nice...
