IT HAD BEEN a couple of months since my kidnapping. And my wedding was approaching fast...I was a little nervous, but I was ready to marry Alec. He's the only person I can see myself with. Why? Because frankly no one else makes sense.

"So, have you looked at dresses yet?" Izzy asks me.

"No..Iβ€”I've been meaning too...just haven't had the chance."

"Chris, your weddings in like 4 weeks..are you sure that's all it is?"

"Yea..what.. you think I don't wanna marry Alec? " I question with hesitation. "No not at all...I just know it's been a hard year with Valentine and everything, there's nothing wrong with putting it on hold....that's all." Izzy reasons. "It has.. been hard but I love Alec and our family makes me happy I jusβ€”"

"I know we can go looking for dresses tomorrow...I'll take care of everything Chrissy." She cuts off and assures.

"Hey, you okay?" Alec questions, walking into their room closing the door behind him. "Hey...I'm great I just put Iris down." Christina replies from the bed, closing a magazine. "Dress shopping?"

"Yea, we're going tomorrowβ€”"say yes to the dress"

"I'm sure you'll look beautiful in any dress ." He states leaning down kissing her forehead, heading towards the bathroom.

✾

Izzy and Christina walked into a dress shop on the upper east side. "You must be the blushing bride Christina." A blonde covered in runes figures. "I'm Jen, your shadowhunter wedding planner."

"Wow..a shadowhunter wedding planner..yes I'm Christina."

"Great, let's get started."

Jen led the duo to the fitting station. "I guess I should go and try them on.."

"Wait, we have people coming." Izzy reassured.

"Who?"

"Surprise!!" Exclaimed Roslyn, Diana, Clary and Maryse.

"You didn't really think we'd miss this." Roslyn states with a bright smile. I guess not. Chris stated hugging the women.

What felt like a dozen dresses Later, Chris was having trouble finding the dress. She wanted a dress that spoke to her growing relationship with Alec.

At last she found this floral cream white dress. For some odd reason she felt that it was the one as clichΓ© as that me sound. She tried it on and walked out of the fitting room to show it off.

"This one." Was all she said.

"You look stunning, Christina." Her mother voiced.

"That's the one.." Izzy agreed.

"Absolutely."

The dress was perfect. Everything was..that's what scares her. She felt something..just something was going to happen. If not right at this moment then soon. One of the worst thingsβ€”knowing something was going to happen, but you can't stop it , can't prepare, waiting for the inevitable to happen. Waiting in agony.

The women made their way back to the New York institute. Spotting Alec waiting for their arrival."So..how was it?"

"It was...magical." Chris replies with a light chuckle. "Where's Iris?"

"Just put her down..she was pretty tired after 2 bottles."

"Sounds like her."

"I was thinking we could have dinner tonight." Alec suggests grabbing hold of the raven's hands.

"I love that idea.."

"8pm sharp." Alec states giving his fiancΓ©e a quick peck on the lips, walking away.

"You got it boss."

"Oooo, Alec and Chris sitting in a tree K. I. S. S
S. I. N. G. " Izzy starts, earning an eye roll from Chris.

"It's not childish..it's love."

Christina smiles to herself a bit. Love was something she had with Alec. She didn't plan it...and yet she was in love with him.

***

"This is beautiful. " I stated as, Alec led me to the roof of the New York institute where lights sparkled and glistened around us. It was a beautiful set up 2 chairs across from each other with Iris petals almost covering the floor.

He led me to my seat then walked over to his own and sat. "How..did youβ€”"

"Magnus..helped a bit."

"We haven't had dinner like this in a while huh?" Alec acknowledges. "Yea.. it's been a long time." I sigh with a smile.

Alec reaches for my hand cupping it into his without hesitation.

"Can you believe you're going to be Mrs. Alec Lightwood in less than 4 weeks?" Alec asks with a faint smile appearing on his face.

"I honestly can't...we went from acquaintances to parents to a soon to be married couple. It feels like just yesterday I was walking into the institute for the first time."

"Yea..we were so young. Kids, 18 and 21." Alec states.

"When I first saw you shoot that bow I was instantly impressed, smitten even."

"As I was you, you remind me of my dad. So warm, and caring. Something I missed most at the time, and everyday you make it last." I revealed.

"It feels like we're saying our vows..." he voiced.

I chuckled. "Yeah it kinda does doesn't it."

It was moments like these where I can just block out everything and just be happy. It was never hard for my dad to balance loving his family and being a head shadowhunter, a leader. Love was all we had in this dark world filled with demons and these moments with the people we love make up for all of that.

nos Γ’mes devraient ressentir l'amour. - Our souls should feel love.

The couple headed back to their room, stopping by the nursery to see their little girl sleep. The Lightwood family, would be the most powerful family in the shadowhunter world. A family who showed mercy, but wasn't weak, loving and loved. Father, Alec Gideon Lightwood, Mother, Christian Veronica Blackthorn, and daughter, Iris Christopher Blackthorn.

Thats how people would read their names.

The union of  a Lightwood and a Blackthorn, two high ranking shadowhunter families becoming one was a big deal  their world. It meant that shadowhunters were stronger than their enemies. And trust shadowhunters had lots of demons who wanted them not as much as Valentine..good thing he's gone...

"Right?"
