Our team lost the game. Although, I did score 18 goals, so it wasn't half as bad. The final score was 280:260 for our favor until Malfoy caught the snitch which got them 30 points. He really was a better seeker compared to our team's. Enough about Malfoy, I think I deserve the spot on the team no matter what. I did catch more than half of the points we scored, didn't I? My friends were cheering on me, which was amazing. I also noticed Harry and Hermione cheering for me too, which I appreciated a lot.
After the game, however, Malfoy came up to me, congratulated me on "not looking like a clown on the field", which I suppose was a compliment, and asked me to meet him in the common room at 1 like always. I shrugged it off because I didn't know what to reply with and left without saying a word. Later that day, though, I found out I got the spot on the team which was an occasion worth celebrating that weekend in Hogsmeade with Luna and Leila. Blaise wouldn't be able to come, as he had to meet up with his friends to study for an upcoming test for Charms.
Dinner rolled around, so I enjoyed my meal with Leila. We laughed about certain things that happened during our match, like how Goyle almost fell off the broom when I flew by him or when Malfoy hit his head against the stadium wall trying to catch the snitch. Then we discussed the homework we were assigned by Snape and complained a bit about how much it was.
After dinner, when all students were sent off to beds by Filch, I started to think about whether to show up to the common room to Malfoy or stay low. I couldn't discuss this with Leila or any of my friends, because I feared I would face internal bullying and mocking. Besides, I didn't feel like sharing what I had with Malfoy with anyone else, and I don't know why. Even if it seems like we are on bad terms all the time, I feel this special relationship we have together. Being able to talk about random things, play stupid board games, or even eat in silence had something comforting about it which helped me get my mind off my worries. So, I decided to go meet up with him at 1 and hear out what he had to say.
I layed in my bed for what seemed like hours, but when I looked at the clock it was already 15 minutes past 1. So, I put my robe on and went downstairs to the common room. Careful not to wake anyone I carefully opened and closed the door of the girl's dorm. When I looked down, I saw Malfoy sitting there looking at the green flames thinking about something. Seemed like whatever was bothering him wouldn't let his mind rest. He didn't even notice me when I started walking downstairs, his attention diverted from the fire to me as soon as I coughed to get his attention.
"I didn't see you there, Y/N," Malfoy said surprised then stood up and came closer to me.
I went up to him.
"It's L/N for you, Malfoy. Why did you call me here? I thought this 'helping you sleep' thing ended." I said crossing my arms in front of my chest.
Malfoy looked down on the floor and started playing with the ring on his index finger.
"It wasn't right to lash out at you for something you never did. Besides, it was also wrong to make fun of you constantly during the day, like the time I turned you into an elf in Potions." Malfoy said chuckling under his breath, " I believe I messed with your academic achievements, and that wasn't cool." Malfoy said half-whispering still looking at the floor.
"Okay? Get to the point." I said tapping my foot against the floor.
"I just want to apologize for what I did and said to you, that's it." Malfoy answered looking back from the floor at me, "I would like to keep talking to you at night, it's kind of interesting to me, and I am sure you too, feel the same way."
Did this twat just apologize?
"The Draco Malfoy, the unapologetic, disrespectful and annoying guy just apologized?" I said quietly laughing "Well? How does it feel having human decency?"
That was so unexpected.
"Shut your trap before I take all of that back, L/N," Malfoy said sarcastically rolling his eyes.
What if I gave a go for this friendship?
"Well, since you apologized, it's Y/N for you Malfoy," I said smiling at him.
"And it's Draco for you, Y/N," Draco said slightly smiling back at me.

"...Well, you really did knock Goyle off the broom, so I was impressed." Malfoy laughed.
Since Draco apologized to me, we have been talking and laughing for an hour already. It felt good having someone to talk to through the night, without arguing or making fun of each other. It was the first time I saw Draco putting in effort into our conversation and i respected that. Sure, he was not the best choice of a friend out there, but I felt calm and comfortable talking to him and discussing different things.
"You weren't bad yourself too, I shall say. I didn't know you played this well." I complimented Draco, which was a big mistake. Boosting an ego of an arrogant man is a death wish, he didn't shut up about it for hours.
We then thought of drawing caricatures and rating them. While drawing, the comfortable silence that we had shared a few times before was back. Draco was concentrated on what he was drawing, and I was examining him from time to time. He had his way of being gentle; he was careful about what he was drawing and paying attention to every detail. I must have been staring too much because he noticed and pointed it out to me.
"I see you are looking Y/N." Draco said with a cocky smile plastered on his face "What got you so intrigued?"
His remark got me back to drawing again. I continued working on my own caricature, trying not to look back because I felt the redness rush to my cheeks.
"Nothing really, just wondering how a guy like you could be gentle with a caricature," I replied casually, not looking at him, afraid he would notice my red face.
"Now, now, don't think of me as someone so cruel," Draco replied then continued working on his caricature.
After we were done with our masterpieces, we showed them to each other and had a good laugh about them. Draco did say a few not-so-nice things about mine, and I did have a few opinions about his. In the end, though, we agreed on a solid 6/10 for our drawings.
For a while, we stayed like that; sitting on the couch next to each other looking at the flames in the common room of Slytherin. I felt safe with him, and he felt calm with me.
"Say, Y/N, thank you for helping me sleep," Draco whispered, then looked at me seeing that I had fallen into a deep slumber already.
"I suppose, sweet dreams then..."
