As soon as we heard the rumbling under our feet, we decided to split in order to take care of any intrusion into the third floor. Leila called dibs on having the first kill so I didn't argue. I was waiting patiently at the top of the stairs holding my wand out breathing heavily awaiting any expected guests. Not like they were guests of any sort, more like intruders.

A few minutes have passed since then and the yelling, rumbling, and sounds of explosions didn't stop. I was stuck all alone on one floor to protect myself and didn't know what to do or feel. In one moment, it felt as if I was on top of the world ready to take any Death Eater as an equal with my stupendous knowledge of spells and charms, but in another moment, I felt overpowered and inferior to anyone who I might be facing. Everything in the hallway was spinning around, my head was aching because of the uncanny voice that had spoken not too long ago.

I heard a few steps running up the stairs which got my heart humping against my chest harder than ever before. This was it. It was time to decide which spell to use against them. Maybe blow the ground under their feet up or throw them back into a wall. I could even turn them into hysterical dancing dolls for pure entertainment. I didn't have much time to decide, so I settled on the most basic solution to the situation of all: Expelliarmus.

I saw a messy bunch of hair pop out behind the stairs to which I reacted with a shout, "Stop right there!"

There was a minute of silence between me and the enemy. It felt like they were trying to figure out if they wanted to spare me or kill me without showing any mercy, which got me more nervous than before. But then again, it could have been a subordinate.

"Y/N?" I heard an oddly familiar voice say and step out, "Thank Merlin, I thought you were Bellatrix."

I took a good look at the masculine figure that appeared in front of me and was taken aback by the surprise of seeing none there than Harry Potter standing right in front of me in all his glory.

"Potter," I sighed in relief lowering my wand and clenching my heart, "Try not to give a heart attack to me next time, will you?"

"Actually," Harry disregarded my remark, "Now that you are here, please do me a favor, it's really important."

"And that is?" I asked crossing my arms.

"Keep anyone out of the Room of Requirements," Harry replied taking each breath with difficulty, "If there are too many to handle, rush to us and we'll take them out together."

"Not a problem," I said putting my hand on my heart as if promising to do what I was told.

And so, with that, he entered the Room of Requirements yet again leaving me alone with my own thoughts again. However, this wasn't for too long either. Not even two minutes passed, and I heard a few more steps approaching the floor I was on. These definitely didn't belong to one person only. Three people.

I could take them out by myself, couldn't I? Why not give Potter the pleasure of not doing anything unnecessary and concentrate on his own job? I was finally thrilled to do something that would shock the whole school. This was the moment when my ego wouldn't let go of me. I stood there with my wand confidently put out and ready to blow some heads up. I smirked to myself just thinking about all the glory that would follow up my victorious moment. However, my dream ended and all of that changed rather immediately after I saw a face. The one face that I never wanted to see during this battle. The face I wanted to both punch and shower with kisses all over. The one face that belonged to my beloved.

It was Draco Malfoy's.

My stomach got filled with butterflies again.

His face was just as shocked as mine was. He looked at me both in fear and regret. He wanted to burst out saying hundred times over and kick my shins at the same time.

"Y/N?" I heard him say with the faintest voice dropping his wand to his side, "What in the love of Merlin are you doing here? Do you have any idea how terrified I was? Where did you go? Are you bloody crazy? You'll die first thing here!"

"Now, hold your horses," I responded suddenly amazed at how many questions a person could say in less than ten seconds, and put my wand out in front of me.

Draco started moving quickly toward me trying to grab me by my waist but I back up putting my cold wand against his pale neck. I didn't want to do any of it, but something in me simply clicked. I did not wish to forgive and forget Draco simply for calling me a coward and a weakling. My ego, much like his, could never allow another to hurt it.

"Listen, Y/N," Draco started to explain raising his hands up, "You need to let me go through the Room of Requirements after Potter. He has my wand and I want it back. Nothing more or less."

"As if I'd let you have your way," I replied dryly, "I suppose waiting a few moments wouldn't hurt, so sit your scrawny self down for this one."

"You can tell that to your two pawns too," I finished my saying and turned around to face the other way of the three. I walked slowly toward the other end of the corridor closer to the room where Harry was with his friends. I definitely couldn't take on three, moreover when one of them is I-suppose-my-boyfriend.

I heard the atmosphere of the room change drastically. Suddenly the elephant in the room was much bigger and heavier than before. I felt Draco raging from the inside. Ignoring his request most certainly would annoy him.

"Draco, she's trying to get away," I heard Goyle say from the other end of the room, "AFTER HER!"

I panicked looking back to see the larger figure which belonged to Goyle run up to me followed by Draco and who seemed like Blaise. I immediately started thinking of needing help from the Room of Requirements as it was the only way of getting in. The shaking of my hands and weakness in my knees didn't do any justice to my wishes, however. The larger figure was almost here to drop me dead but luckily, the doors appeared and I rushed into the room.

The door closed behind me with a loud thud coming from the outside. I was one lucky dead man walking. Realizing that harry needed to be informed about the unexpected guests who would kick the door open any second now, I rushed further into the pile of junk the room has been collecting within its walls over the years.

"POTTER!" I yelled at the top of my lungs trying to reach out for any of the three, "WE HAVE VISITORS AND I'M AFRAID THEY AREN'T VERY FRIENDLY!"

An echo followed my shout. They definitely too far away, so there's no way they'd hear Draco come in. I had to act quickly and find the three friends before Draco could get to them.

I started walking fast through the many and many piles of things lying on each other like forming mountains of lost-and-found property. I accidentally stumbled across a small doll lying on the ground. I picked it up gently and placed it on a nearby pile of useless things, even though I wanted to keep the doll to myself. I felt like a child playing hide and seek. This room never fails to make me feel comfortable to a point where I can feel and act like a child. In these times. You are expected to act so grown up that at times you even forget about small things you used to enjoy back in your childhood days.

Lost in thought, I didn't notice a dead end so I bumped my head into it. I looked at the wall cursing under my breath and started to back away back from where I came from. However, I wasn't alone. Instead of going smoothly through the air, I hit something. Not something, more like living.

"Tag, you are it, love," I heard an all too familiar voice say behind me.

I aggressively turned around to face Draco, "Listen, Draco, can we talk about all of this later? It's really not the time."

"As if I'd let you leave me one more time," Draco said sternly pulling his wand out, "Why talk about it later when we can always talk at the given moment?"

"Well, if you can't tell, I'm in a kind of a tight situation here," I replied back with a bark, "Besides, I didn't leave of my free will, you simply told me to go. Plus, you told me that I was too weak to defend myself and called me a coward who is scared to face anyone. Oh, and just so you know, my memory never fails me, so this must have happened."

There was a minute of silence. Draco knew I was right and he was wrong in the whole fight that we had not too long ago. He must have realized it right after I left, if not, even before, but his ego wouldn't allow him to admit it. I knew this face all too well: his eyebrows furrowed and his eyes cold concentrated on the target in front of him. He knew he was wrong and he had to apologize. But would he ever? No.

"You could at least say sorry," I sighed my voice sad. I really had hoped he'd shop up and say sorry for what he said before.

"I don't like saying sorry, Y/N, and you know that-"Draco tried to defend himself but got cut off.

"So, you choose to haunt your girlfriend down, make her hand over to you the one guy Voldemort wants to kill after tormenting her with hurtful comments like 'you are weak' or 'you are a coward'?" I asked sarcastically pulling my own wand out and pointing it at him.

"Look, I didn't mean to say any of that to you. The last thing I want is you leaving me," Draco said approaching me and lowering his wand, "All I want is to take my wand back from Potter, take you and run away from all of this as far away as possible."

"I love you to a point that I'm ready to sacrifice everything around me and what I have in order for you to stay in one piece," Draco continued slowly putting his arms around my neck, "I don't want you to get hurt. I just want both of us to run away just like we always dreamt of. Far away from this bloody castle and the Dark Lord. Far away from all responsibilities and fights over who was the chosen one."

I looked into Draco's eyes seeing the same sorrow I have seen multiple times before. It wasn't shown to me out of love, sadness, or anger. Simply just honesty. But how could I ever agree to that? How could I ever leave people behind to die so easily? If I were to run away with him right now, they'd be a person short. Hogwarts needed all the help it could get, so that's why...

"I love you so much, you dimwitted ferret," I sighed trying to recollect all my thoughts over the course of the past ten seconds, "I really do. But I'd never allow myself to step out of a game I'm already playing."

"So," Draco's facial expression softened, his eyes threatening to drop tears, "You're saying you won't?"

"No," I replied trying to touch his cheek but then the unexpected happen.

"Who said I gave you a choice," Draco shouted half-crying, "I'll see you in a bit."

"Bombarda!" Draco yelled his wand pointing next to the pile I was standing next to. I looked up in panic seeing all of it falling down on me.

A few seconds later, everything went black.
