❞You dumb hunk of handsome alien genetics.❞

✯✯✯

THE GALA WAS STILL going on when she arrived, the rest of the team was socializing, the way they had been when she'd left. She was a little tired and a little roughed up, but she'd made sure to clean her face and hide any bruises forming under her clothes and makeup.

Connor was the one she first met, "Is AC/DC a good band, or not?"

She looked up at him, confused and surprised, "What?"

"West and Grayson were having an argument about whether or not AC/DC is a good band after watching your fight," Connor responded, looking at her without any change in his expression, "So... I was wondering if it was..."

She blinked, Connor Kent was an innocent little butterfly with the potential of great violence when pissed off. Right now, in Alex's eyes, he was an adorable little child who knew nothing of rock bands, "Well... how about I introduce the band to you, and then... then you decide yourself?"

Connor took a moment, considering her words, then nodded, "Alright, thank you, Alex."

She grinned, despite her jaw paining from a hidden bruise. Connor's adorableness warranted it, "Anytime, Kal."

Connor glanced at her once again due to the use of his Kryptonian name but said nothing, he didn't need to because Alex caught the ends of his lips flicking up, just a little. He stayed by her side, asking her about the mini-mission she'd been on, saying that he'd arrived late to the viewing of her mission and had left early, on request of M'gann who'd wanted to dance with him.

She saw a glimpse of familiar red hair, Wally West, twirling on the floor with someone. She couldn't see who, a rather tall woman was blocking her view, "Hey, Kal, can you see who Wally's dancing with?"

Connor glanced at her, and then toward where she was pointing. He narrowed his eyes at the view and then turned back to her, "I don't know who it is, all I know is that the person is female and has many broken and healed bones."

"I forgot you have X-ray vision," She face-palmed, shaking her head, "We'll just have to wait for the person to show themsel β€” oh my fucking god."

Connor raised his eyebrows at the woman Wally was dancing with while Alex couldn't keep her mouth shut. He pushed her mouth closed, "I've been told that doing this in public places is unhygienic."

She slapped his arm, "Dude! Wally West is fucking dancing with Artemis Crock! They're always at each other's throats! And now they're dancing together?"

Connor frowned, "I've danced with Wally and Artemis many times, on separate occasions."

"No β€” no, sweet sweet Connor, dancing is not β€” this is fucking romantic!" She stammered, her hands shaking with excitement, she herself was buzzing, "Like... like how you and M'gann go on dates, you know? That's romantic, and dancing the β€” the way that Wally and Artemis are is romantic!"

Connor frowned deeper, "But they do not like each other."

She slapped his arm again, "Exactly, you dumb hunk of handsome alien genetics!"

Connor and Alex looked back at Wally and Artemis dancing again, Connor narrowed his eyes, "Wally's heart rate is spiking, Artemis' as well."

She squealed, slapping Connor's arm repeatedly, "They're in love! They're in love."

"But don't they hate each other?"

She looked up at Connor, "Dude, it's enemies to lovers, slow burn, mutual pining, 300K!"

Connor blinked, "I understand less than what I did before."

After spreading knowledge of Wally and Artemis dancing together to the rest of the team and commenting on Connor's lack of knowledge about a few Twitter memes, she ended up with Dick. Dancing.

Now, a few things to note; One, Dick Grayson was pretty to look at, like more than the average pretty guy. Two, the guy is a peacock at dancing, elegant, graceful, just a little funny and perfect. Three, he's nice to talk to, with just the perfect level of flirting and friendly talk.

And now, we come to the fourth thing, the one that ruined all the three things we've already mentioned. FOUR, he's the adopted brother of the guy Alex was now pining over.

"How much do you want to bet that Wally and Artemis confess to each other and start dating?"

She looked up at Dick, his blue eyes shining back at her, "How much is the entrance for the pool?"

"30 dollars."

She raised an eyebrow, "How many are in on the pool?"

"Most of the League, give or take a few," Dick shrugged, "What can I say, the feed of Wally and Artemis dancing together swayed everyone into buying in."

"Who the hell filmed them?"

Dick grinned, "I did."

"Alright, I'll buy in, remind me to give you β€”"

"No worries, Alex," Dick said, still grinning at her, "I wired the money from your account to mine."

Her eyes widened, and she pinched his arm, "Richard Grayson, how do you know my account pin and you have an account?"

Dick smiled, "I don't need to know your account pin when I'm the best hacker on the team, and yes, of course, I have my own account. I'm not entrusting my part of the inheritance to Bruce... he's going to burn through the money."

"You realize," She started, "Your inheritance comes from Bruce, his money is your inheritance."

Dick shrugged, "Alright, then not my inheritance, my pocket money..."

"Don't you use Bruce's card even when you keep your pocket money in your sock drawer?"

"How do you know that?" Dick narrowed his eyes at her, "And it's just more fun to bring out a black card to pay for things, I mean, I'm supposed to be Bruce Wayne's son."

She laughed, and he grinned.

"Hey, you wanna bet on something else?"

She raised an eyebrow, tilting her neck to look up at him again, "On what?"

"On how long it takes to for you to gather up the courage to confess to my little brother." He answered, "The pool's entrance money is 50, the entire league's in on it."

She sputtered, trying to take in the information, "What?"

Dick chuckled, grinning, "Just kidding, the pool's entrance money is 60."

"What?!"

"Hey, mind if I cut in?"

Dick and she looked over at the new person standing in front of them, Jason Todd stood with his signature smirk on his face. Dick smiled, "Why yes, little brother!"

He spun Alex, leaving her fingers at the end of the spin. She ended up falling into Jason's arms as Dick grinned, "Have fun~ toodles~"

Jason's hand took hers, and the other one took her waist. They watched Dick sashay off and Jason laughed, "Did he seriously say toodles?"

She looked up at him, feeling her heart rate start to speed, "You tell the criminals you beat up that they've just been bamboozled, the question that should be asked here is who influenced who into being a dork."

Jason pouted at her, "I thought you liked me saying that."

"I mean it's funny," She said, "But it really takes the coolness factor of being a hero."

Jason narrowed his eyes at her, "You crime-fight with the most classic superhero, Robin, it's cool."

"Well, yeah sure, let's say that," She nodded, smiling at Jason's glare, "I'm just happy that I crime-fight alongside a version of you without the skimpy little panties as a part of your costume."

"I told you!" Jason was redfaced, "Dick had that uniform for some time as well, I thought it was cool."

"Ergo, what you think is cool isn't really," She snickered, "Ergo, I'm right and you're wrong."

Jason looked at her, If you'll laugh like this every time I'm wrong then I have no problem being wrong all the time.

Jason didn't say anything now, and neither did Alex. And they continued to dance, Alex couldn't keep her eyes off Jason, and the same went for the dark-haired boy made for trouble. They danced, not noticing Dick standing on the sidelines holding up his phone.
