It was all so sudden.
The battlefield was stained with the stench of pure blood and ash. (Y/N) swore to herself that she had grown accustomed to the smell and the violent raging atmosphere, but everytime that thought crossed her mind, she soon realised she was far from correct.
But, that didn't stop her in her pursuit.
It was only a moment ago that Iguro's bandages fell from his mouth, revealing his deep scarred cheeks, revealing the inside of his mouth. It would be wrong for her to admit that she blinked in surprise despite the dire stakes at hand at the time, but that was far from what he expected to see under his bandages. Although she had a hunch it was some sort of scar, she didn't think it'd be like...that. She'd be lying if she said it did not interest her- the way he got his scars- but her thoughts were quickly interrupted when something gripped her wrist, pulling her back.
Her eyes widened. She raised her fist, ready to strike the reason behind this disturbance. However, just as she was tugged back, from the corner of her eye, she saw a piece of flesh slice just where she had been moments ago. The only damage it managed to cause was a small scar on her cheek from the rubble.
Whoever this was...they saved her..
She had lost focus. She was getting tired, and because of that, she was zoning out. She couldn't do that here. Not even for a moment. What just happened was a great demonstration of what would happen if she were to zone out again, but no one would save her next time.
She gritted her teeth, shaking her head and her scrape healing over in due time. No, she couldn't think like that. She was zoning out again.
Quickly, she turned to her hero, their hand still around her wrist, and when she did, she couldn't help but let her eyes widen in surprise.
She had an experience similar to this once before. An old demon slayer she once interacted with had used talismans in his whole technique. Ofcourse, she couldn't see a thing of what he did, but his presence was almost like a ghost...this was the only explination
This was similar.
"Talismans!?"
Just as she spoke those words, the person let go of her wrist. However, she couldnt hear his muffled cries as she watched the silhouette dash around her and race towards Muzan.
"I'll be damned.." She scoffed out, rolling her shoulder back with a small smirk on her features.
They all dashed at Muzan, and he was still completely unable to see them.
"AAAAAAGHHH I HATE THISSSS!!" Zenitsu cried out
Muzan suddenly snapped his eyes to the girl of the group- Kanao- as if he was able to see her. Though, what likely happened was he smelled her blood. He was always good at that.
Kanao scoffed. "Damn- I didnt think he'd notice so fast-"
Gyomei let his eyes widen in shock, blood pouring from every wound of his face. He was panting now, his chained weapon flashing its glint as it swung around him. "You guys are still alive?!"
Inosuke huffed through his mask. He waved his swords around in annoyance, a small grunt leaving his lips of clear annoyance. "LIKE HELL I'D DIE, DUMBASS!" The boy scoffed before suddenly pulling out multiple talismans from his pocket and throwing them all across the battlefield, letting the wind carry them all across the battlefield- wherever they needed to be. "And I've got a bunch of these paper thingy's, too!"
"WHO THE HELL ARE YOU TALKING TO?!" Sanemi huffed out to Gyomei as jumped over an attack and sliced down on it as he landed.
Muzan was just about to take another swing of his arms towards the hashira and the scents of each child, however, just as he did, he paused.
With one of his arms suddenly flying off his body, torn from the limb, he felt his eyes widen in shock, lips parting to reveal his fangs.
Iguro let out a small grunt as he flipped around the strikes, and finally managed to land a proper hit on the demon. His brows were scrunched in determination, eyes clouded by what could only be described as rage. Pure, unfulfilled, pained rage.
However, it wasn't his attack that made Sanemi grin, but the red tint of his blade. He couldn't help but let his eyes scan the effects of what the blade did to the demon. He chuckled. "Slow!! So when his body gets cut by a red blade, his regeneration slows down, huh?!"
"Red blade?!" The halfling called out to Sanemi, head tilting to the side and a deadpan falling over her features. She stood back to her full height after digging an attack, clearly not paying attention to Iguro moments before. "What are you talking about?"
Sanemi turned to her with a raised brow, eye twitching. He pointed his blade at the scene. "Didn't you just see Iguro cut that bastard into pieces with a red blade?!"
The woman remained in confusion for a moment. "No? He had a red blade?"
Sanemi was about to cry out to her in complaint, but something interrupted his call.
Gyomei rushed past the two of them, swinging his chained weapon before crying out to them. "Not the time, you two!"
Without warning, he suddenly angled his chains until both ends of his weapon collided. "What are you-" (Y/N) was swiftly interrupted. Suddenly, his blades collided, sparks flying between them, and when the dust cleared, the blades tips were-
"They're red...Sanemi really wasn't lying..."
"OF COURSE I WASN'T LYING!"
And without another word, Gyomei pulled his chains, rushing at the demon, and after a moment, he angled his chains around his body, leaving the balled part of his weapon to hit through Muzan's shoulder, leaving nothing but a gaping hole. Muzan scoffed.
Seeing this, the woman turned back to Sanemi. Her eyes widened. "Sanemi-"
"Yeah, yeah, I'm on it!" He exclaimed, rolling his eyes before he raced towards Giyuu, who had just skidded back from an attack and regained his balance. "TOMIOKA TAKE THISS!"
Tomioka gasped in surprise at the suddenness of Sanemi racing at him with his blade raised. Was he trying to attack him!?
As an instinct, he raised his blade, ready to counter the blow.
Sparks flew, and a small gust of wind followed the emphasis of the attack, and just as Giyu was about to question the white-haired man, something caught his attention. His blade was red? He thought it was blue...
"NOW'S NOT THE TIME TO QUESTION IT, IDIOT!" Sanemi exclaimed as he jumped away from him.
As that was happening, the halfling scoffed to herself at the situation, reaching down to grab a blade from the ground - no doubt from a demon slayer who had sacrificed themself not long before.
The woman strutted forward, walking towards Muzan. From the ground, a lost katana had buried itself into the soil, half its blade stuck in the ground so its hilt was facing the sky. She strolled past it, and as she did, she collided thw blade and her bew katana. The same sparks flew, and soon, the edge of her new blade was tinted red.
She didn't pause her pursuit. Muzan forced his attacks towards her, aiming to strike, however, with everything around him, he was hardly able to focus. She nonchalantly side stepped each one. Left, then right, then back left, all before she continued forward, and her walk sped up.
It wasn't long before her strut turned into a run, and she was quick to reach his side. Muzan grunted out in annoyance, raising his arm and ready to strike down at her, but she seemed almost uncaring to the attack, lowering herself down into a low and wide stance.
His striking arm was suddenly sliced. Giyu glanced back at her over his shoulder, giving a small nod and skidding to a stop.
Storm Breathing, Seventh Form: Light strike
A second later, a great flash of light emerged from the battlefield.
When she finally skidded to a halt on the other side of him, she let out a breath, her eyes still closed, and waiting for the inevitable sound of flesh.
And a sound she got.
Muzan coughed, falling to his knees and his hands grabbing at his stomach, even though it tried to slip away from his body. She had cut through his stomach completely... "(L/N)....You disgrace...!"
"CAWWWW ONE HOUR AND THREE MINUTES UNTIL SUNRISE."
As Muzan slowly healed, stumbling back to his feet, Sanemi gave out a small pant, reaching down to pick up a talisman from the ground as he ran. Quickly, he reached to stick it to his head, and he soon chuckled to himself at he dashed at the demon once more. "I get it now... Those who are wearing the seal can see each other, but others can't..!"
"Zenitsu! Kanao! I wanna make my blade red, too!" Inosuke cried, a small whine leaving his lips, like he was having a small tantrum to himself.
The woman had just finished jumping away from another attack, her other blade long forgotten as she reached for another one. When she turned back to the battlefield, she felt her eyes widen at the lack of noise.. "Huh? Sanemi?! Where did he go! Has anyone seen him-!"
However, as her eyes scanned over the battlefield, she paused her vision at one person. Muzan. "Huh.." She muttered, confused as she narrowed her eyes at him, as if attempting to confirm what she saw. "What the..."
"Do you see it too, (Y/N)?" Iguro muttered as he skidded to a stop beside her, his eyes never leaving Muzan as he spoke.
She nodded. "I do. He's see-through for you too, right?"
Iguro let out a grunt of agreement. "His brain and organs..they are all in his middle area-"
It was all so sudden.
She couldn't even react as she watched one of Muzans arms reach Iguro. She was about to move, but...he was already cut and swatted away before she could even think.
"Wait-"
The next thing she knew, her stomach had been completely split in half, her eyes widening and her body tensing. It felt as though the entire world around her had frozen in place. As if oxygen itself had stopped working - as if all sense of pain had been lost -
But it returned far too quickly.
All she could really remember from that moment was her back hitting the ground- skidding against the rubble and dirt- hitting her body against any and all objects in the way, until, finally, her back plummeted through the air, and a stab was felt through her heart.
Blood fell from her lips. Her body twitched every few moments. The lower half of her body wasn't regenerating. Her body couldn't move. She felt cold- colder than the harsh winters of the mountains.
And she remained there, unable to find any strength left in her as what was left of her body was dangling from a broken pole- now a spike- surrounded and held up tilted by the pile of rubble around it. Stabbed through her heart, her body was practically in the middle of the pole, either end piercing through her body.
Her body dangled, legs slowly growing, before, suddenly, they stopped. They had stopped regenerating.
She felt her body twitch. She felt the horrid pain all around her body to the point it felt numb. She couldnt move- she couldn't breathe-
"H-....He-..lp-.."
