"I cannot believe you convinced to wear this in public" I say with a grumble.
"What do you mean? You look hot like really hot" Mia grins back at me.
"I look like a slapper"
"But a hot one"
It didn't take Mia long to whisk me out the club once id eventually closed up. My heeled boots clonked and clicked against the pavement as we made our way down a windy road overlooking the bay to our right. One hand attempting to adjust the tight push up bra she'd lended me whilst the other frantically scrolled through Charles Leclercs Instagram page.
I was utterly memorised at how fabricated everything was. He looked relatively normal to his fans- I knew it was heavily PR influenced but this was beyond a miracle act. He spoke differently in videos and interviews, his smile wasn't dark and actually met his eyes- and better yet most of his tattoos were covered by his race suit and long sleeved shirts out the eyes of everyone else. His knuckles were soft and pretty- they didn't look like they'd found someone's cheekbones not like they did earlier.
He was truly a different person.
"Only if he was going to be there tonight" Mia whines beside me.
My eye race up to meet hers I became heavily aware she's now stalking my phone with me.
"You know him?" I ask. Stupid question everyone in Monaco does.
She bellows out a short sarcastic laugh- a normal response from Mia to say the least "Duh every fucker in this place does"
"Not everyone.." My voice drags out rather quickly. Not everyone knew the real Charles Leclerc only the version he wants everyone else to see. I felt lucky in a sense I'd met differently but also sick to my stomach on what that really meant.
"Why are you stalking his Instagram anyways" A question I didn't dare answer with the truth, as much as I hated lying "You're not one of these secret fan girls are you" She laughs.
"Don't be stupid..I was just flicking through Instagram and he came up" I murmer, refusing to tell her the real reason I was doing so much digging on one man.
"He's good looking though isn't he"
My eyes wander back down to my phone in front of me. A picture of him on a golf course which I quickly noticed was a common theme on his page- wearing the same shades I'd seen him wear earlier in the night. Mia was right he was good looking, his features were like a drug you just couldn't help but stare at. Though I'm surprised she didn't recognise him herself that night.
"I suppose" I shrug my shoulders "But I guess most girls think that"
"Oh absolutely" She replies, with a wink.
"Do you think he's different off the track?" I ask curiously "You know like behind closed doors?"
Mia shrugs with uncertainty, it was a question she'd probably never pondered on for the answer too "Who knows I suppose we don't know anyone as well as we think we do"
Her head is turned towards the bay that's now fully within our view. I can almost feel the bass of the speakers blaring music from under my feet. The street is filled with every make of sports car you could imagine- the bodies of colours bouncing off the spot lights dotted around.
"How could you not like this kind of shit" She exclaims rubbing her hands together in excitement.
"How could you like this kind of shit" I shake my head and sigh.
"Sienna" She represses my sarcasm "Learn to live more for crying out loud"
"I'm here aren't I?" I grumble with an eye roll.
"Exactly so start living in the moment"
I came to terms with the fact I wasn't getting out of this one pretty quickly. So instead I fished around in my bag and pull out a pack of twelve cigarettes I'd been safe keeping for Mia and proceeded to light one in my mouth. I could hear Mia's jaw drop beside me and I couldnt help but smirk to myself.
Charles Leclerc wasn't the only one who had a dark side.
"Damn babe when I said live in the moment I didn't think you actually would" She laughs looping her free arm into mine with a comforting tug.
"It's one cigarette" I laugh back "But first round is on you"
"Indeed it is" She squeals with a giggle.
It didnt take me and Mia long to find every spot on the bay with a bar and a seat. The loud crowds around us seemingly occupied by the row of growing cars all with there hoods up for people to spectate at. I did my best efforts to try and cover up the skin I was showing but my attempts failed due to the lack of clothing, every so often I'd catch the eye of some guy walking past and that made me feel even more uncomfortable.
There was a warm glow from a heater above our heads as we sat waiting patiently for our drinks. Mia was classic and ordered her usual which was a double vodka red-bull, whilst I on the other hand stuck to what I knew best. A glass of rose wine. Though we had to deal with red plastic cups, kind of like the ones you'd see in every teen American film at a random house party.
"Aren't you glad you came out then?" Mia asks when she's eventually handed her cup.
I shrug my shoulders making a good enough attempt since I knew how much it meant to her that I had come "Yeah it's not as bad as what it seemed"
"See" She grins satisfied "And all you had to do was take my word for it"
"You make it sound so easy" I hum, sipping at my wine.
"That's because it is Si" She whines with a knowing eye roll "You've lived such a sheltered life it's about time you changed that"
"Maybe that's not a bad thing no?" I ask genuinely, picking at the thin lines of my fishnets that were starting to itch my legs.
"What makes you say that?"
"I don't know Mia..so many bad things happen to girls my age back home..in this day and age being a woman and letting loose don't mix well together" I ponder on my own words thinking of life back in the UK. My parents had sheltered me for the majority of my life and in some ways I'd been thankful for that, you'd turn on the news and see nothing but horrific stories. Rape. Abductions. Murder. Terror everywhere.
"That's England babe..THIS!" Her hands fly up to show her surroundings off "This is fucking Monaco"
"What's so special about Monaco?" I groan leaving Mia clearly offended.
"Firstly I'm offended you even asked that and secondly for a girl that moved across the globe to live here I'm not sure why you're even asking that question" She tilted her head to the side and studied me hard "Surely they're must've been something that made you choose Monaco?"
I blink for a second trying to re live the moment back home in my childhood bedroom where I made that choice. It was impulsive to say the least and I wasn't all that convinced myself about moving until I was on the plane with my belongings in cargo beneath me.
"I wanted a fresh start I suppose..always been a sucker for sun and luxury things from being poor you know..plus Monaco offered the best course for architecture and that's what I wanted to do" I swallow back a gulp of wine with a shrug "So I chose Monaco"
"See that's what's good about Monaco" Mia commented back, her eyes now looking past me instead of at me.
"What the university?"
Mia snaps out her trance and looks at me kind of dazed for a second "What?..oh no fuck the university I meant him over there" Her finger jabs past my head making me turn. At first I didn't know what she was pointing at there was that many people around dancing and having fun until my eyes landed on a figure in the middle of the chaos. Tall. Brunette.
Shades. Very black shades.
It felt like my mind was playing tricks on me. Every person with shades I assumed was Charles. But surely not it couldn't have been. He wouldn't have been in such a public area with so little security. I chewed my lip anxiously feeling like I was now being watched from every corner. I turned back to face Mia and placed my drink down with a shaky hand that only she'd noticed before I did.
"Babe? What's wrong"
I looked up into her worried eyes, I know I promised Charles I wouldn't say anything but it was Mia. I had to tell someone, what if I was no longer safe on my own? Having someone that knew would make it less of a burden on my shoulders. Plus I tell Mia everything and it'd been like that since the day I'd started at Rubyz.
"I- I had a really weird encounter earlier whilst on shift" I say in a half calm half shitting myself tone of voice.
"What happened?" Mia placed her hand upon my thigh gravitating some support so I could carry on speaking.
"There was this guy..in the VIP booth I thought he was just an arrogant businessman at first you know because we get a lot of them"
Mia nods and waits patiently for me to carry on.
"But then when I was closing he came back..and I realised...it was Charles Leclerc"
"WHAT-" Mia exclaimed loudly, I was quick to lean forward and shush her. The last thing I needed was someone hearing considering everyone in Monaco knew who he was and majority were Ferrari Fans.
"You're fucking lying.." She whispers with a giggle.
"I wish I was" I mutter anxiously.
"Wait why's that a bad thing you've literally met THE man of Monaco and he came back to talk to you?" She asks knitting her eyebrows together whilst taking a chug of her untouched drink.
"Well...he's not exactly the person everyone thinks he is"
"How so?"
I swallow back hard and sigh knowing if Charles knew I was telling Mia this he'd kill me. But he wasn't around so how was he to know.
"He's got this dark alter personality...I think he's part of a gang Mia"
"Are you sure?" She asks, making my cheeks burn with uncertainty that maybe I'd gotten it wrong.
"I mean possibly I just got weird vibes off him that's why I was looking at his instagram trying to piece his other personality together"
She lets out a breath hard enough to knock me back of my chair. Her hand ran through her curls a couple of times, I could tell she was thinking hard and figuring out what to say "Shit Si..I mean it's hard to believe he's part of a gang...like surely not"
"I know.." I chewed my bottom lip nervously thinking of all the possibilities that could happen now that I've told Mia.
"Hey look I'm not going to say anything don't worry" She reassures with a smile "If anything it's fucking insane that he came back to talk to you"
"Really? I find it scary as fuck I can't lie" I reply dryly, swirling around the last bit of wine in my cup.
"Well yeah..I get that" Her voice drags off, but not for long. She gets up and immediately takes my hand "Let's not focus on that though let's just focus on having a good fucking time"
Eventually I cave into her demands and nod my head rising to my feet. I needed to let off some steam and my burdens were already lifting off one by one. I take her hand and let her lead me through the crowds.
"You wanna get us some more drinks whilst I found a quiet spot with some cars to dream about having before looking at our bank accounts and crying?" She asks with a grin.
I laugh a little too hard and nod in agreement "Yeah ill be back in a second don't go too far out"
"I'll be around here" She yells after me as I stride away.
I find another makeshift bar within view and decide to go to that one. I would hate to drift off to far and get lost especially in this part of Monaco. Suddenly I hear footsteps approaching me from behind. Before I can turn to see who a pair of strong arms wraps themselves around my waist pulling me back into a firm chest. I recognise the scent immediately as it overpowers my senses, it's Charles.
With a violent tug he lifts me off the ground and hoists me away to a dark alleyway to the right of us.
"Fancy seeing you here" He pants when we're finally face to face.
And my guard immediately goes up in fear.
I try to break out of his hard grasp but found myself failing miserably "What the fuck are you doing?!"
He tightens his grip, preventing me from escaping with his body pressed tightly against me and the wall behind "I just overheard something very interesting about me Sienna" His voice drops to a threatening whisper.
My mind scurries to figure out what he's on about until it suddenly lands on the conversation I had with Mia just minutes prior. He was the man in the crowd. And he overheard fucking everything.
"Shit.." I shakily breathe out.
Charles smirks wickedly "Bingo" He proceeds to tap my nose mockingly with his finger "Didn't think I'd hear it did you? How silly"
I squirm again in his grip trying really hard not to freak out because at this point it was going to do me no favours "Please don't hurt me Charles" I beg helplessly.
He tilts his head studying me with a curious gaze "Hurt you? Why would I do that?" Casual words with underlying mockery.
My eyes darken as I straighten up my head, blowing a lock of sweaty hair out of my face "Why do you think?"
"Because I told you to keep my identity hush and you couldn't help yourself" He replies knowingly.
"Bingo" I repeat his words back sarcastically to him- still attempting to break free at the same time.
A low rumble of laughs formed from his chest "Fiesty I like that" His hands were like iron slabs against my shoulders pinning me exactly how he wanted me "Let me make something clear Sienna...I follow through with my threats"
"Threats?" I echo and then I recall the hostage joke he'd made earlier in the club. But I was too late to react, a blacked out SUV had appeared at the top of the ramp.
Waiting for me.
Charles steps back, releasing me completely from him. The windows of the car are tinted obscuring whoever might be inside already.
"Get in the car Sienna" He commands coldly, his tone leaving no room for argument "Now"
My eyes flicker frantically between the car and Charles, I shake my head in denial "Charles you're not serious"
His jaw clenches, his eyes mimicking dangerously "I'm dead serious so don't make me forcibly put you in there" He takes a single step forward, his imposing presence makes the space around me seem much smaller "Last chance. Get. In. The. Fucking. Car"
I can feel eyes begin to swell fearfully with tears, every bone in my body was vibrating nervously. Then at the last second I try to make a run for it back down the way Charles had dragged me from. But I barely make it two steps before his arms huff me back. He drags me backwards ignoring my obvious struggle and kicking "Stupid" He mutters to himself, opening the back door of the car and clasps his hand tight around my mouth to block the screaming I was doing.
All I could do was carry on yelling for my life whilst suffocating against his palm, my body was now completely out of my control and heavily vulnerable for him to do whatever whenever.
I'm tossed easily into the back of the car and up against the door with my legs sprawled out in front of me. There was already an unknown figure sat in the front seat waiting for Charles command. And when he gets it he immediately speeds off down the alley from any last chances of help.
"Calm down" Charles huffs in frustration as I still struggle next to him.
"Calm down?!" I breathe frantically my head plummeting back against the window. My eyes stained with flowing tears.
His expression is unreadable, face turned away from me glasses now off as he gazes out the tinted window. His voice is low and controlled still "I didn't want to do this the hard way but you left me no choice" Eventually he turns to meet my stare with a cold and distant gaze.
"What is your deal?!" I shout out in anger "All this because I didn't keep a stupid secret!"
A muscle visibly twitches in his jaw as he leans dangerously close to my face "It's not just a stupid secret Sienna it's my life my career my everything and you told you're little friend like it was nothing"
I fight in the restraints of rope he was now wrapping around my wrists behind me "Because it does mean nothing to me I don't owe you shit Charles!" I spit back a bit too boldly.
A flash of anger and the next thing I know the back of his hand is flying towards my face, his slap is so hard and rough it sends my head flying to the side. After he straightens his tie gathering some composure "Wrong answer"
I choke out a small sob which I swallow back with my cheek now stinging.
"Now listen carefully you will do as I say Sienna" He warns me with determination.
I gulp back bile that had formed in my throat and focused on counting my breaths in my head, anything to distract myself from the new situation I'd found myself in "Looks like I have no choice" I murmur calmly. The car continues to move smoothly through the city streets the tinted windows blocking the outside world Id took for granted.
"Smart choice" He leans back in his seat adjusting between his legs. I shift my head to look from out the boot watching Monaco slowly leave me behind. What the fuck was I going to do? Mia will be worrying sick. Where's my phone? I need to phone her.
Time was quicker then I thought before I knew it we'd arrived at a pair of large steel gates closing over what looked like a villa beyond. It was nestled quietly in the hills and grape vines. I catch a glimpse of guards stood with guns big enough to knock you out with a hit let along the trigger, it was eerily quiet and dark leaving knots tied in my stomach.
"Where are we?" I ask quietly, flinching at the gash seeping from my cheek.
"My private residence" A matter of fact voice but there's an underlying threat in it "Not exactly a place your friend would think to look for you" His eyes meet the wound to my face "That will remind you to watch your mouth"
I glare at him as he forces me out the car keeping his chest against my back at all times and his hands around the rope tied to mine. He leads me inside, the door closing with a heavy thud behind me making me jump. The villa was massive, luxurious, even with high ceilings and expensive artwork framed on every wall. Before long he guides me up a long stairway and to the last room at the end of the corridor before closing the door behind us. The room was cold but just as nice as the entrance to the fort, there was a queen size bed with red satin sheets in the centre of the room and an en-suite attached to the side.
"You'll stay here there's a bathroom a bed..you know essentials" He sarcastically says, throwing his phone onto the bed.
I squirm again against the ropes as I take in my surroundings, blood trickles off my gashed cheeks down the valley of my breasts which occupies my eyes next "Is the ropes really necessary now?"
Charles jaw clenches as he follows my gaze to the blood stained trail on my chest "You're not exactly trustworthy right now" He speaks through gritted teeth, stepping closer forcing me back up until i hit the bed. His hands find my shoulders spinning me violently around to arch me over the bed "Keep your hands behind your back"
I close my eyes and regain my thoughts quickly, I need to do what he says at all costs. I needed to survive no matter what.
There's a uncomfortable silence, the tension in the room feels like a knife to the throat. I can hear him moving behind me but I can't see exactly what he's doing. Suddenly, I feel the rope restricting me loosen and fall away. I squeeze my hands free and fall face first into the pillows with a gasp of air. My heart is racing that much I thought I could see it touching the skin of my chest, I flip my body over my
