you sighed and pressed your lips together , debating whether or not if you should tell him. you don't want your friend getting hurt...

you felt your heart racing and you quickly called hide , you needed to talk to someone.

"hey? what's up?" hide said on the other line , he clearly just woken up. "KANEKI HAS LIKED ME EVER SINCE WE WERE KIDS AND YOU NEVER TOLD ME?!" you shouted through the phone . "hey no need to shout!" hide argued back. he took a big sigh.

"dude we both really thought you knew ... cause he confessed his love for you in the letter he gave you. so when you didn't say anything we assumed that you just didn't care". you took a really deep breath ... "if i knew he liked me—" but you were cut off by hide. "if you knew he liked you , you probably wouldn't feel the same regardless. so don't try to stop him and his date okay?!" and with that , he ended the call.

you laid there staring at your phone ... "why do i feel like such a bad person" . you sighed and felt a little anger building up.

kaneki had sent you a few messages but you refuse to look at them from embarrassment. "i feel like they hate me..." you said quietly to yourself. you decided to call you other best friend. ayato.

"please pick up please pick up" you said under your breath as you called him. "hello?" ayato answered. "ayato! can you come over please ... i don't feel good" you said with a anxious voice . you felt as you were getting eaten up by your own anger.

"uh... i don't know i'm so—" ayato was then cut off by a female voice. "ayato come on! we need you" . you sighed and ended the call before he could even answer , he was probably busy with his girlfriend you thought . Or maybe that was his co-worker?

you stood up and headed over to the kitchen to get some breakfast , toast to be exact . after that you opened up your computer to check your emails , looking to see if you're professor has graded your english essay. "ugh of course its a B-" you groaned tilting your head backwards. you felt as your professor hated you , you knew you did very good on your essay to be graded as an A

you looked over at your phone that was on the counter , it buzzed as a notification message from kaneki popped up on your lock screen . you debating if you want to open it or not. "he is probably saying how much of a bad friend i am" you said as you picked up your phone and flopped on the couch. your phone buzzed once again , this time you gave into temptation . you opened kaneki's messages .

after sending that message , you silenced your phone and walked over to your bedroom and took some melatonin gummy bears . you plopped yourself in bed , groaning in anger . you decided to force yourself to bed , you didn't want to deal with these feelings anyways.

when you finally woke up , you woke up looking at your window realizing it was already night time. "oh fuck , what time is it!" you quickly grabbed your phone , 8:01pm . "I can't believe I slept so long... fuck!now I won't be able to sleep".

you stood up looking over at your nightstand , staring at the picture of you , hide , and kaneki . a group photo you guys took last year at a fair. grabbing the picture frame , you stared mostly at kaneki face , he was smiling . It was a very shy smile , you sighed and closed your eyes ."dammit kaneki , if you start dating her you will become distant from us..." you whispered .

you quickly grabbed your phone again and saw a few messages from kaneki , you ignored them and quickly pressed on the "find my friends" app , checking kaneki's location . he was still at his house , you took a big sigh and quickly put on some shoes and a sweater , running out the house to your car. your plan was to stop kaneki from going on the date...

trying your best not to speed , you drove all the way to his house . once you arrived you walked up his porch and knocked on his door , behind it was kaneki surprised to see you. "y/n? what's going ? why are you-" . you put your hand over his mouth "please don't go kankei , I have a bad feeling ... plus if you end up dating her , you might become distance" you pleaded looking into his eyes. he blushes and moved your hand away. "im sorry y/n but im going , I dont want to be late..." kaneki avoided eye contact.

you clenched your teeth as you looked down , you closed your eyes and took a deep breath , you felt a weird feeling rush through your system . "I think I li-" you said but kaneki decided to cut you off.

"please stop..." he said with such soft voice . "huh?!" you said looking up at him . he had a little smile on his face , clearly hiding a little bit of pain . "please stop... dont ruin the nice friendship we have been having for years."

kaneki added , placing a hand on your shoulder . you couldn't force any words come out your mouth. a gush of wind hit you and him , you saw his silky black hair move around as he saw your beautiful h/c hair too. the wind was all you both could hear.

"I got to go y/n , im sorry , I dont want to keep her waiting" kaneki said , trying his best not trying to sound rude. "dont go..." you managed to say , although your throat felt dry and felt extremely sick .

kaneki let out a small breath , smiling . "you were the first beautiful girl in my eyes , and will forever be . im sorry but i believe its a little too late" . you looked down at your feet , hearing him close his door and walk down his porch . "you should go home ... its to dangerous out here at night , especially with these recent ghoul attacks." he said looking at you.

"then you shouldn't go! if a ghoul were to attack you both , you will die!" you said loudly walking down the steps. kaneki pressed his lips together. "I've got to go okay?" kaneki started walking towards his car . " im serious y/n ... go home" he said before he fully got in. you saw him start his car and drive away . that's when you felt the tears start falling...
