Ella looked at herself in the mirror. She was wearing a sparkly white dress paired with white heels. Her wings were completely white- just a charm, and her flower crown had daisies on it.
She smiled at Lyla through the mirror, who was practically beaming with happiness. Shiloh, now nineteen, Lyla, and Jocelyn, who by now was in the fifth grade, were all standing behind her, smiling happily.
"How're you feeling?" Shiloh asked the twenty-seven year old, who shook her head. "It feels.. surreal. This is something I dreamed of for years, and now it's finally happening."
Ella placed a hand on her stomach, as if to control the nerves. Her wings fluttered nervously behind her as she shook her head.
"It's surreal. I'm marrying the love of my life." She said, tucking back the strand of brown hair that escaped. "I'm so grateful."
Soft violins played in the background as the officiant walked to the stand, ready for the bride and groom's entry. The guests settled down quickly, as the tune changed to a mischievous one. Elijah walked in, smiling widely and waving at their guests, who all smiled at him and some waved back.
The violins changed to a soft, soothing tone, as the bridesmaids and groomsmen began walking out. Jocelyn was first being carried on Micah's shoulders, like they used to do in the old days. Britney was next, hand interlocked with David as they walked down the aisle.
Lyla walked down the aisle next, her hand intertwined with Josiah, and the final pair to walk down the aisle were Shiloh and Judah, bringing up the rear.
Britney and David's son walked up the aisle, next to Mary and her boyfriend's daughter as both of them split at the end to stand with David and Shiloh respectively. Britney and Mary'd been overjoyed when Ella asked for them to be their ring-bearers.
Three pretty little fairy-babies wearing light pink walked down the aisle slowly, dropping down light pink and white petals softly, creating a beautiful carpet for the bride to walk on.
Ella looked up with tears in her eyes as the man next to her wiped them away. Ella's father had never been around, and neither had Elijah's. So, when she had to choose someone to walk her down the aisle, she's picked someone that had always acted like her older brother.
"You okay?" He asked
Ella sniffed and nodded. "Perfect." He smiled, offering his hand, which she took.
"Shall we?"
Ella smiled. "Thank you, Dan."
Daniel Nelson smiled at her. "You never have to thank me."
They rounded the corner, and the violinists began playing 'here comes the bride', and the guests all stood up.
The moment they rounded the corner, Ella's eyes had travelled all across the field.
The field was completely covered by yellow fairy lights that lit up the place. An upside-down V stood behind the Officiant, with white flowers decorating it. The petals ran down the middle of the aisle, creating a soft petal-carpet for her to walk on.
Daniel smiled, and looked at Ella to now see her eyes fixed on the man at the end of the aisle, waiting for her
The moment Ella and Daniel rounded the corner, Elijah was awestruck. As she walked down the aisle towards him, he realised he still felt as enchanted by her beauty as he did the first time he saw her in her fairy form, the first time he'd seen her with her hair down, the first time he'd seen her in his hoodie, the same that he'd felt when he ever saw her.
His eyes clouded as tears sprung into his eyes as Ella walked over to him and turned to face him, her smile teary as well.
The guests sat down as Elijah took her hands into his own.
The officiant began his speech. "Friends, family." He said, "We are gathered here today to celebrate the joyous union of Elijah and Elizabeth. May the happiness we share with them today, be with them always."
"Now, I believe you've written your own vows?" He asked, and they nodded. Elijah cleared his throat, beginning shakily.
"As we stand here today, I promise to cherish and honor the journey we've shared so far, and to continue growing together with love, laughter, and adventure.
You are the sunshine that brightens every day, the calm in every storm, and the safe haven where I can always be myself. Your kindness, empathy, and generosity inspire me to be a better person, and I am grateful for the gift of your presence in my life.
I vow to support your dreams, to be your rock in times of need, and to celebrate your triumphs with joy and enthusiasm. I promise to communicate openly and honestly, to listen with compassion and understanding, and to work through challenges together with patience and respect.
As we build our life together, I commit to nurturing our relationship with laughter, playfulness, and curiosity. I promise to be your partner in every sense of the word, to stand by your side through life's ups and downs, and to cherish our love as a sacred bond between us.
In sickness and in health, in joy and in sorrow, I promise to love you without condition, to honor your spirit, and to cherish our life together. May our love continue to flourish like a garden, tended with care and devotion, and may we always find joy, peace, and happiness in each other's company.
All this I've said because I was meant to, It's whats expected of me, and it is what i will do for the rest of my life. Loving you, Ella, was the best think i have ever done, and I will never, ever regret it.
All the games we played, every mission we went on, made me fall in love with you even deeper than before. And even though we've dated for three years, and we've had our ups and downs, I still see you and fall a little more in love with you every day.
I love you now and forever, Ella."
Ella sniffled, wiping away the tears that dripped down her cheeks.
"This puts my vow to shame." She said, laughing softly. "You've always been my best friend, my supporter, and you love me in love and complete me in ways I never knew possible. From this day forth, I promise to listen to you and learn from you, to support you and accept your support. I will celebrate your successes and mourn your losses as though they were my own. I will love you, and rejoice in your love for me for all of the years of our lives.
I'm not the girl that turned her best friend into her husband just cause. I married my best friend, because you will always be the best thing to ever happen to me.
Not everything in this world is in our control, but as long as we're with the right people, you can handle anything. And you, Elijah Nelson, are the right person for me.
I love you, Eli, and I can't wait to spend the rest of my life with you."
"Ring bearers." The Officiant said, and their nephew and niece walked forward, giving them the rings
"Do you, Elizabeth Hazelwood, take Elijah Nelson, to be your lawfully wedded husband?"
Ella smiled, "I do."
"And do you, Elijah Nelson, take Elizabeth Hazelwood, to be your lawfully wedded wife?"
"I do." He said, a similar serene smile on his face.
"I officially declare you husband and wife. You may now kiss the bride."
Elijah gave Ella one brilliant smile before he grabbed her waist and kissed her. The guests clapped, and cheered as they pulled back, smiling happily at their guests and each other.
FOUR YEARS LATER
"Liana! Get back here!" A girlish voice shouted, followed by another "Catch me if you can, Skye."
The two girls squealed as their father lifted them up. "Liana Lyra and Skye Shiloh. What do you think you're doing, running around the kitchen while your mom is near the stove?"
"Sorry dad." The girls said, as their mother appeared in the kitchen. "Oh, put them down Elijah, they're just kids."
Elijah kept his daughter back on the floor and the two girls ran up to Skye's rooms. He walked to his wife, leaning on the kitchen's doorframe, facing her.
"How is it-" He said, raising a hand to her face, wiping a smear of flour off using his thumb. "-That everytime I see you, you seem to just get prettier."
Ella blushed, pushing him away as she head back into the kitchen. He walked behind her, wrapping her arms around her waist, trapping her against the counter as he placed his chin on her shoulder.
"I fall for you everyday." Ella said, smiling as she placed a soft kiss on his lips, before pulling away.
"I fell for you a long time ago." Elijah said, then added, "But everytime I see you I seem to just be falling harder."
