3rd person pov
____________
"Sweetie, you need to wake up," a young woman whispers urgently to the little girl sleeping peacefully in her bed with a small smile stretched across her face.
"Mom? What's wrong?" The girl sits up slowly; sleepiness still shrouding her eyes as she rubs them a few times.
"I can't explain right now. You just need to remember that no matter what happens your dad and I love you." The woman's voice is urgent but laced with sadness as she quickly puts a woollen coat onto her child; buttoning it up with shaking hands.
"What are you talking about? What's going on?" The girl's eyes are wide as her mother hands her a backpack stuffed with clothes before walking over to the window in the corner of the room and pulling it open.
"I need you to be brave for me, okay? Run into the woods and go to our treehouse. Don't look back. No matter what you see." With her last words spoken, the mother embraces her young daughter in a tight hug before helping her out through the window; watching her run off with tear brimmed eyes as she hears the front door slamming followed by the sounds of heavy footsteps and the thudding of a cane with each step.
"Be safe, my little Wren."
~~~
The girl heaves for breath as she runs, gripping the straps of her backpack with white knuckles. The sound of her steps are accentuated by the crackling of leaves while her path is illuminated by the bright full moon shining down on her.
She isn't sure why she's running but she follows her mother's instructions closely and heads for the little treehouse that sits near the centre of the woods.
Reaching the wooden house that sits high amongst the trees, she begins to climb up the rope ladder but falters when she hears a deafening sound ringing throughout the woods.
A scream. Her mother's scream.
With wide eyes, the girl mindlessly drops her bag before running as fast as she can towards her home, tears falling down her rosy cheeks.
She stumbles into her home through the door that lays off of its hinges, treading carefully around the shards of broken glass before halting in her tracks as she eyes a large puddle of red seeping out from behind the leather sofa.
With cautious steps, she walks forward and peers behind the sofa. She lets out a gasp and stumbles backwards, falling to her knees, for right infront of her lay the slashed apart bodies of her mother and father.
Sobs start to wrack her small body as she finds herself unable to tear her eyes away from the gruesome scene.
Focused on her parents' bodies, she doesn't notice the sound of a set of footsteps walking up behind her, nor does she notice the man with glazed over eyes kneeling beside her.
"It's okay, little one," the man whispers as he lays a hand on her shoulder, "you're safe now."
He brushes away her long auburn tresses to expose the back of her neck before flicking out his claws and swiftly pushing them into her neck. The girl stiffens and her eyes become unfocused as the man starts to slowly flick through her memories before retracting his claws.
"W-what happened? Where a-am I?" The girl questions as the man turns her away from the body of her parents. Her wide eyes meet his blind ones as a small smirk falls upon his lips.
"Who are you?" The girl mutters, fear lacing her voice.
"You can call me Deucalion."
Wren's pov
_________
I squeeze my eyes shut and take an audibly deep breath, trying to clear my mind as best as I can.
I wonder what time it is. I'm hungry. No, don't think about that. Clear your mind.
I fidget around in an attempt to get into a more comfortable position as my but aches from the hard wooden flooring.
Maybe I could go get a yoga mat and while I'm at it grab something to eat as well.
Peeking an eye open, I watch the figure that sits beside me, not moving an inch and hardly even breathing.
Maybe he's actually fallen asleep...or he's dead.
Opening both eyes, I lean over and move to poke him in the arm but his hand suddenly darts up and grabs my wrist tightly.
"What are you doing?" He growls at me.
I guess he's not dead then.
"I was just going to grab something to eat," I mutter before he releases my wrist. I frown as I look at the bright red mark that stretches across it now.
"The whole point of meditating is to clear your mind and practise your abilities. How do you expect to grow stronger if you can't even do a simple task like that?"
I stare at the ground for a moment as I fidget with my hands. Deucalion sighs as he watches me behind his tinted glasses before motioning with his hand for me to stand up.
"Go find Ethan and Aidan and get something to eat. We'll continue with your training tomorrow." I can't help the wide smile that stretches across my face as I jump up and stretch my legs.
"Thank you," I say before rushing out of the small room and down the stairs of the large house.
"Ennis, have you seen Aidan and Ethan?" I question the man that is sitting on the couch and watching a movie beside Kali.
Kali shushes me but Ennis points to the side. I turn my head to see Aidan and Ethan training outside by the training fields.
"Thanks," I whisper, getting shushed by Kali again, before quietly heading outside.
Ethan and Aidan have been with the pack for about a year now and have the unique ability to merge together to create a bigger and stronger werewolf. It's some sort of twin thing.
I watch the two of them train for a moment before interrupting them.
"Aidan. Ethan," I call out, causing them to stop and turn to face me.
"What?" Aidan growls, his eyes flashing red.
"Deucalion said we could go get something to eat," I mumble, only slightly intimidated by his actions.
"Isn't there anything in the kitchen?" Aidan questions, obviously not in the mood to go out right now.
"Not anything nice. I'm hungry too; let's get pizzas," Ethan argues. Aidan rolls his eyes but agrees nonetheless to go get pizzas.
I hop onto the back of Ethan's motorbike after pulling on my helmet with only a small amount of complaining. Aidan and Ethan don't wear helmets but they say I have to because I don't have super healing so my skull can still be cracked open in an accident.
We drive the short distance into town before parking and walking into our favourite pizza shop.
"..Yeah, we'll have 4 meatlovers, 2 Hawaiians, and 2 chicken Supremes," Aidan orders at the till before handing over a wad of cash.
"Wait time is 10 minutes," the guy working at the till says in a monotone voice. We walk over to the seating area and take a seat at a table while we wait.
Aidan and Ethan talk about sports or something while I fiddle with a napkin, folding it into a triangle before unfolding it and folding it again.
"Wren," Ethan says, pulling me out of my thoughts.
"Mmh?"
"Who's going to win the match on Sunday?" He questions. I roll my eyes.
"I dunno," I reply. Ethan huffs.
"But you're a seer," he whispers the last part so that nobody overhears us in the next to empty shop.
"It doesn't work that well yet. I can't control what I see, it kinda just happens."
That's the part that seems to irritate Deucalion the most. He's been training me since he found me when I was ten but we've still had little to none progress in controlling my sporadic abilities.
Ethan sighs before continuing to talk to Aidan. Checking the time on the large clock that hangs above the till, I see that we still have five minutes left.
I get back to folding the napkin before I notice hands starting to get blurry as a familiar sensation overcomes me.
Great, perfect timing.
Without any further warning, my vision fades black.
~~~
Opening my eyes, I find myself standing in a dark forest in front of a burnt down house. I inspect my surroundings to see a man with dark hair standing over a badly burnt man.
A teenage boy is begging him not to do it. Do what? I take a few more steps forward till I'm standing a few feet away from the dark haired man.
He leads forward and flicks out his claws before slashing the burnt man's throat. I gasp and stumble back a few steps.
The killer looks up with bright red eyes.
"I'm the alpha now."
~~~
I gasp as I wake up, something warm dripping from my nose. I grab the napkin I was folding and quickly wipe away the small trail of blood, an annoying side effect of my visions.
"What did you see?" Aidan questions from beside me. I now notice that I'm on the floor. I must've fallen out of my chair.
I quickly stand up with a helping hand from Ethan and brush myself off.
"There's a new alpha."
~~~
We grabbed our pizzas before rushing back to the pack house, eager to tell Deucalion about my vision.
"..and there was a burnt down house?" Deucalion questions after I told him every detail about the vision. I nod in confirmation.
"Do you know where the new alpha is?" Kali questions as she sees the look on Deucalion's face. He nods slowly.
"Pack up everyone, it looks like we're going to Beacon Hills."
