CHAPTER FIVE: I'LL COME WITH YOU
Written By: peachyhxlland

Five hurriedly entered the CIA building after his undercover mission to spy on the Keepers in their secret meeting. The Keepers are a support group known to experience some sort of thinking about their other lives in other timelines. Five had to investigate it, as he needed to know how people started remembering their different lives in another timeline. Attending these meetings also gave Five some sort of twisted therapy. With the Keepers, he can vent out his feelings from his past adventure. He needed somewhere to vent and a place of people who could support him and with whom he could relate when he felt lost.
Because he was so lost in his thoughts, Five almost failed to notice another agent, Derek, coming towards him with his suit. "You're late," Derek informed him as they both walked.
"I know." Five huffed.
Derek was the agent assigned to Five as some sort of assistant. Derek gave Five his suit, and Derek noticed the fake mustache still plastered on Five's face. "Mustache." Five glanced at his assistant before finally noticing his mustache was still on. "Right." Five replied before taking the fake mustache off.
"He's waiting in his office."
He continued to walk until he found the changing room. Five entered the room while his assistant waited outside. After a few minutes, Five came out of the room and lent the clothes he had previously worn to Derek. "That was fast," Derek commented.
"Well, I know my buttons," Five simply replied before he finally entered his boss' office.
"Ahh, Agent Five." CIA Deputy Director Lance Ribbons, a CIA Supervisor, set his files aside as he welcomed Five and Derek into his office. "Please take a seat, you two."
Five and Derek sat down as Five gave the case file about the Keepers to Ribbons. "Sir, I've been tracking down the Keepers for at least a month now," He explained. "The Keepers function mainly as a support group, but with strong cult-like tendencies. Membership is rapidly growing across all metro areas in the US, as well as Europe. It's all there in my report, sir."
"What's the organizing principle?" Ribbons asked as he read what was on Five's report file.
Five took a sharp, deep breath before answering. "They believe we're all somehow stuck in the wrong timeline."
Ribbons chuckled dryly. "Well... just a bunch of looney tunes, if you ask me." He closed the file folder. "Drop this Keeper nonsense. Move on. I think it's time you got back to your other cases. Ladybug, Panama, Chicken Wing."
"Sir, I am making progress with this."
"Now, you listen to me," Ribbons immediately replied as he stood up from his chair. "You have the makings of a fantastic spook. A suspicious mind. A love of complexity and detail. There is a certain maturity that most of my young agents lack. Play your cards right; you'll be running this place someday."
Five nodded. "Thank you for saying that, sir."
Five left the room and instructed Derek to get him some coffee. Derek nodded right away and left. After the assistant left, Five walked around to find his office until he noticed a familiar agent walking inside his own office. Five smirked a little and followed the agent to see his co-worker busy arranging his files on his desk. Five leaned against a doorframe and crossed his arms as he watched his co-worker look through each file. "Never seen you this stressed before, Ethan."
The agent, whose name was Ethan, flinched and turned around to face Five. "Ahh, Five! You're back."
"You seemed to take a lot of cases while I was gone." Ethan chuckled. "It was all a coincidence. A lot of cases were dropped on each agent while you were gone. Be thankful you weren't here to take on more workload."
Five tilted his head and noticed a red folder that Ethan had just placed on his desk. "What's that?"
Ethan glanced at the red folder. "Oh, that? One of the new cases that was assigned to me. The Hargreeves case."
Five furrowed his eyebrows in confusion and shock, walked inside the office, and stood beside Ethan. "The Hargreeves case? Again?"
"I know, right? The CIA hasn't stopped investigating the Hargreeves couple. The old dude has shipped another machine made by Hargreeves Enterprises to Australia. And apparently, a concerned citizen reported something suspicious about them."
"Keep talking."
Ethan took the red folder and opened it to show Five what the contents were. "Someone said that the Hargreeves couple were not the only ones who were living in their grand mansion. They believe there's another Hargreeves inside; it must be their secret kid." Ethan pointed to a picture taped in the folder. "A woman in her 20s. CIA wants to know her connection to the Hargreeves couple."
Five took the folder and took a closer look at the picture. The picture was taken from outside by the concerned citizen, and it shows Reginald and Abigail Hargreeves entering their mansion. But by the door, a young woman was caught in the picture, even for a glimpse. Five's heart started to beat fast and loud. 'No, this can't be...' Five flipped a page and saw another picture. "Ethan, I need this case."
Ethan stared at Five in confusion. "You want more workload?"
"I may have some leads here." Five lied to Ethan as his eyes didn't take off from the picture. "If you want, I can give you one of my cases."
"What about theβ"
"I will not give you the Keepers case."
"Fine." Ethan thought for a moment. "How about the Panama case?"
"Deal." Five replied with no second thoughts and closed the folder. "Tell the boss you switched cases with me."

A knock on the door snapped you out of your thoughts, causing you to look away from the mood and turn your attention to the door. The door opened to reveal a dark-skinned woman in her 20s, smiling brightly at you. "Ready?"
You gave her a weak smile and nodded. "I think I am." You took your suitcases and walked towards the young woman, and she clung her arm around yours. You leaned your head on her shoulder as the both of you walked out of the room. "Thank you for being here with me, Dani."
"And thank you for trusting me to help you escape for today. Too bad we couldn't do it last night." Danielle, or Dani for short, replied with a wide smile as she carried one of your suitcases. She glanced at your hair and gasped in awe. "Love what you did with your hair. Very chic."
You chuckled faintly. "Thank you."
You and Danielle became friends after Reginald finally allowed you to get outside of the estate. You met her at a pet store when you decided to buy a cat, and Danielle, who was working at the pet store, befriended you. You two have been friends for two years, and now she's helping you escape Reginald and Abigail's house.
"Ms. Snowpeach is in your apartment, right?" You asked worriedly.
"Don't worry, she's cozying up in my bed, waiting for you," Danielle reassured.
"By the way, I don't understand why you didn't do this sooner and chose to stay in this mansion when you have an estranged relationship with your father."
"He's not my father," You quickly replied before huffing. "And I have nowhere else to stay, and the only person I know in this world is him, unfortunately."
Danielle frowned as you two carried on your walk. Danielle had an idea as she got to the bottom of the stairs and saw that you two were close to the front door. "You can stay at my place. Stay with me."
"I'd rather not bother you."
"I insist! We can be roomies and buy a new bed for you! At least stay with me for a while while you look for your own apartment."
You smiled after being reminded of your former roommate back in the first timeline. "Jeanie would've loved to meet you, Dani."
Danielle smiled back. "I bet she's a fun person."
"She really was."
"So, it's a yes, then? You can come live with me?"
"She will not leave this house." When Danielle and you looked back, Reginald was standing by the stairs with Abigail at his side. Danielle stiffened up, as she was startled and terrified that she had finally been caught sneaking you out of the house. Reginald turned his gaze to Danielle. "I think you've overstayed your welcome here, Ms. Davis."
"Reg, I'm not a kid," You reminded him as you turned around. "And I'm sure as hell I'm not your daughter."
"Number Eightβ"
"My name is (Y/n)!" Abigail and Danielle flinched at your yell, while Reginald did not show any emotion. Although Danielle seemed to not notice, Reginald saw the intense red glow in your eyes. He was well aware that escalating the situation would only aggravate you.
"Reggie, let the girl make decisions for herself," Abigail calmly pleaded to Reginald. She was his voice of reason, after all. "She can barely even step a foot outside without you keeping an eye on her 24/7. I think it's time."
Reginald kept his stern stare at you while you glared back without backing down. Reginald gave a huff. "Make one mistake, (Y/n), and I'm dragging you back here. Am I understood?"
With a sneer, you grabbed Danielle's hand, hauled her out of the house, and carried all of your belongings. Once Danielle and you had left the estate, Reginald turned to confront Abigail. "She can't move out, Abigail."
"And what's so wrong with her moving out?"
"The reason why I kept her here under our care is because her powers are out of control. You saw it with your own eyes. Staying here is for her own good."
"That doesn't mean you should make her feel like a prisoner in the only place she can live. I think it's time for her to spread out her wings and move away from us." Abigail tried to reassure her husband with a smile. "She can take care of herself."
With a furrowed brow, Reginald turned his gaze away from his wife and focused it on the front door. "And if she were to fail to control her powers?"
"Her real family is out there to help her, Reg. I think we both have done enough."
After a few minutes of traveling, you and Danielle managed to arrive at her apartment. You cracked a smile when you saw your cat standing up from her cozy spot and immediately jumping down from the bed to run towards you. "Ms. Snowpeach!" You carried your Persian cat and hugged her. "How, I've missed you."
Ms. Snowpeach purred and nestled up to you. Danielle grinned affectionately and, unbeknownst to you, was staring at you with fondness. She realized very quickly that she was nearly daydreaming and instantly forced herself to stop thinking. "Oh, (Y/n), make yourself at home and go unpack your stuff. I have to go somewhere."
You arched an eyebrow as you saw Danielle dash to the bathroom to fix up her makeup. "Where?" You asked curiously while carrying your cat.
"I was invited to a children's birthday party," Danielle explained while applying her mascara. "I'm kinda the babysitter, so the parents invited me."
Just as Danielle was going to put on her lip gloss, she had an idea. "How about you come with me?"
Your eyes widened at her idea. "What? Why? I don't even know the kid."
"Oh, come on! You barely go outside, and you need to socialize more!" When Danielle eventually finished applying her beauty products, she emerged from the bathroom beaming broadly at you. "The parents also said I could bring a plus one."
"I-I don't have a gift..."
"I got you covered." Danielle winked as she walked towards a cabinet and pulled out two gifts. "I've been planning to bring you along for a while now, and I'm glad your moving day just so happens to be today."
Danielle gave you a gift that you can give to the birthday kid. While gazing at the present, you suddenly noticed that there was a birthday card attached to the wrapping paper.
'Grace...' You thought for a minute before smiling. 'I haven't heard that name for years.' You took a deep breath and nodded. "Okay, I'll come with you."
