Chapter Eighty
🌒 Apotheosis 🌘

Stiles and Amara brought Mason's medical chart to Deaton in hopes that he can share some insight. "Vanishing twin syndrome...?" Deaton asked and Stiles nodded and looked at him hopeful, "This is part of your expertise, right?" He asked and Deaton shook his head slightly.

"Not particularly, no." He said making Stiles frowns in disappointment while Amara sighed as Deaton studies the chart. Just then, the back door slammed open making them turn around as Liam and Scott appear in the doorway, holding up one of the Dread Doctors, who is gravely injured.

"He's still alive!"

The Surgeon laid on the exam table while they all surround him, looking concerned, "Can you keep him alive?" Scott asked as Deaton looked the Dread Doctor over, "I'm not sure he technically is alive."

"Screw keeping him alive! How do we get him to talk?" Liam asked, obviously angry at what had happened the previous night, "Personally, I don't think we utilize torture nearly enough." Stiles muttered and Amara nodded in agreement.

"Come." A deep voice with a french accent said instantly catching Amara attention, "Did you hear that?" She asked. "Come to me... To me..." The voice said again and all of the sudden The Surgeon bolts upright and causes an ear-splittingly loud noise to ring loudly throughout the room, which forces all of them to cover their ears with their hands.

While they're distracted, The Surgeon stands and gets ready to leave. Liam growls and lunges toward him before Scott can stop him, "Liam wait!" Scott yelled. The Surgeon turns and causes an electromagnetic concussive blast that shoves Liam backward into the wall behind him before he crashes to the floor. The Surgeon walks out the door and raises his hand before he walks into the parking lot, which causes all of the metal furniture to fly toward the door to the exam room.

Liam gets to his feet, rubbing his sore neck, but when he and Scott start to chase after The Surgeon, Deaton stops them. "Stop, stop! It's electrified." He said making Scott's eyes widen in shock, and he gently holds out his hand to feel the static electricity coming off of the furniture.

The Surgeon walks outside, and falls to his knees as Sebastien approaches him and gives him a hard look. He takes The Surgeon's mask off, revealing a withered old man underneath with sparse white hair and blood pouring out of his mouth. "Marcel... if this is what immortality looks like, I think you might have been misled." Sebastien said, staring at his old friend, "For you... All for you..." Marcel said. "What did you do with it, Marcel? Where's the pike?" Sebastien asked and Marcel looked up at him, "The Argents... The Argents."

Inside, Amara's eyes widen in shock when he realizes what they're talking about, "The cane!" She said and Liam sighed. "But they took it. They took the cane." Liam said.

A few minutes later Deaton, Scott, Stiles, Amara, and Liam are gathered around the table in the exam room, where Scott is flipping through the pages of Mason's chart. "Maybe there's something in here? Something about how he was a genetic chimera?" Scott asked as he read the file.

"Mason had a vanishing twin." Deaton said and Stiles sighed, "Now we've got a vanishing Mason." He said. "What does that have to do with him turning into a 250-year-old French guy? How does that even happen?" Liam asked confused and then an idea popped into Deaton's head. "Hold on... Scott might have something. Mason's twin wasn't entirely gone- that's what made him a genetic chimera. The DNA was still there. Metaphorically speaking, the DNA of Mason could still be inside Sebastien as well."

"How?"

"Life is energy. Energy doesn't just disappear. The Dread Doctors may have found a way to break the rules of the supernatural world, but there are some rules that simply won't break." Deaton said and Liam's expression becomes hopeful at this news. "So, Mason just can't be gone?" He asked and Deaton looked at him, "Somewhere in Sebastien, he has to still exist in some form. A spark of energy, a flicker of memory..." Deaton said and realizing crossed over Stiles's features.

"Hang on... Liam, you said Mason said something right before he turned." Stiles said and Liam nodded, "He said... "That's not my name."" Liam said and Amara nodded. "He finally remembered his name." She said and Stiles nodded sligntly, "Damnatio memoriae."

"That's what they wanted. They wanted Sebastien to remember his name." Liam said and Deaton looked over at Scott and Amara. "Scott, Amara, you guys know the myth of what happens when you call a werewolf by its given name?" Deaton asked and realization crossed over Scott's features. "It turns back to human.."

"What does that mean? Someone can just walk up to the Beast, yell Mason's name, and turn him back?" Liam asked confused and Amara slightly shook her head, "Not just someone... Lydia..."

Amara ran into Lydia's hospital room, where Lydia was sleeping, her neck bandaged up where Sebastien clawed her. She sighed before walking over to Lydia, grabbing her hand, which made Lydia start to wake up.

"Hey, you all right?" Amara asked worriedly as she moved a piece of hair out of Lydia's face. When Lydia speaks, her voice is a weak rasp due to her vocal cords being affected by her injury. "Did... Did you find something? A solution?" She asked and Amara sucked in a deep breath and looks at her girlfriend with a saddened expression before nodding.

"Yeah... it's you, Lydia."

Amara, Scott, Liam, and Stiles gathered around Lydia's bed as Melissa walks in, looking nervous and with a syringe concealed discretely in her hand. "Lydia, this is gonna have to be just between us, since I can get fired for it." Melissa said, "It's a cortisone shot. It's gonna bring the inflammation down." Scott said and Lydia nodded and held her arm out.

"Not there." Melissa said before she reaches up and gently peels half of the bandage over her throat away so she can see the claw wounds. Lydia groans in pain, clearly not excited about the prospect of getting a shot in her open wound, and both Stiles and Liam start to look woozy.

"Uh, yeah, okay, I'm gonna need to step back." Stiles said and took a few steps back at Melissa turned to Amara, "Hold her hand." She said and Amara nodded before grabbing Lydia's hand. Melissa takes a deep breath and uncaps the syringe before aiming the needle for her wound.

"Okay, here we go." Melissa mumbled and Lydia tightly grips onto Amara's hand as she braces herself, but before Melissa can do anything, Liam's eyes roll back into his head and he faints, collapsing onto the ground in a heap. Scott rushes over to check on him, and Melissa rolls her eyes before turning back to Lydia.

"Okay, Lydia, this is gonna hurt like a bitch..." Melissa said before she pushes the needle into Lydia's neck, and she gasps in pain and whimpers as she is injected with the cortisone.

A few minutes later Scott, Liam, Stiles, Amara, and a properly-dressed Lydia walked out of the elevator, Amara helping Lydia stay on her feet as they walk. "Okay, I'll get Malia. Text me when you find Parrish." Stiles said and goes to walk away but Scott stops him. "Hold on-" He said making Stiles stop and turn to him as pulls out a cylinder-shaped object wrapped in brown paper out of his jacket pocket and hands it to him.

"What's this?" Stiles asked, "Something I've been working on for a while. Just make sure Malia gets it." Scott said and Stiles looked at him confused. "Is it Plan B?" He asked and Scott sighed softly, "It was Plan A..." He said making Stiles gives him a wary look. "Plan A never works."

"This one will."

Scott, Liam, Amara and Lydia walk through the tunnels in search of the Beast when they hear yelling and grunting nearby where the Beast and Parrish are fighting. The sound of electricity crackling worries Liam even more, who turns back to Scott, "Scott, Amara? You guys hear that?" He asked. "I heard that." Lydia said, "Lydia, save your voice." Scott said.

Amara looked down at her feet, and when she realizes that they're walking through standing water, her eyes widen in shock. "Lydia get out of the water!" She said as she quickly pushes Lydia to the side. Although Amara, Liam and Scott aren't able to get away fast enough before they're all electrocuted so badly that they collapse onto the floor.

Suddenly Theo comes out of nowhere and grabs Lydia by the shoulders and turns her to face him. "Sorry, Lydia." He said and Lydia whimpers in fear as Theo throws her over an open grate a few feet away making Amara's eyes widen. She starts to fall down the hole into the space below, but is saved just in time Amara, who grab her by the wrist.

But when Amara tried to pull her up, Theo kneeled behind her and stabbed his claws into Amara's back, causing her to groan in pain. "Feel that, Amara? Kanima venom." Theo said making Amara furrow her brows until she realize that Theo has Tracy's power and that the Kanima venom.

"You're an idiot." Amara mumbled as she gripped onto Lydia's hand, "Kanima venom has no effect on any kind of witch." She said. "No, but pain does." He said before she groaned in pain when he pushed his claws more but she didn't take her eyes off Lydia. "You can't hold on forever Amara." Theo said as Lydia's hands started to slip out of Amara's slightly making Amara tighten her grip.

"Just let it happen. Let it go. Let everything go." Theo said as Amara didn't take her eyes off of her girlfriend. Amara groans in pain and fear as she struggles with all of her might to hang onto Lydia, but Lydia's hands eventually slipped through hers and Lydia screams when she falls through his grip.

"No!"

Amara, Liam and Scott are still recovering on the ground while Theo smirks devilishly when he hears the sound of the Beast approaching. "You hear that? That's the sound of real power." He said before he wolfs-out and walks around the corner toward Sebastien, who overheard Theo's earlier comment and is both amused and offended by it.

"Another arrogant youth. A contender to steal my name? You think you can take it from me?" Sebastien asked and Theo smirked, "I just want your power." He said before lunging forward. Sebastien grabs one of Theo's wrists but Theo uses his free hand to stab his claws into his gut in hopes of paralyzing him with Kanima venom.

However, Sebastien just looks at him, both smug and amused, and Theo starts to panic when the venom does nothing to incapacitate him. Sebastien closes his eyes, and when he opens them, they glow bright blue as he starts to transform into the Beast.

Dark veins appear on Theo's face as he tries to take Sebastien's pain, life, and power, but the Beast simply throws him against the wall before turning and walking away as he shifts back. All of the sudden the sound of an ultrasonic emitter started going off making Sebastien glance around before following the noise while Theo calls out, "No! No!"

Theo starts to crawl away, but he turns back when he hears footsteps approaching. He looks up to see Deucalion, followed closely by Scott, Amara and Liam, walking over to him. Theo's eyes widen in shock when he realizes he's just been played, "You lied to me. You and Scott..."

Deucalion, looking very satisfied, crouches down so he can look Theo in the eyes, "That's right, Theo. The whole time." He said before removing his sunglasses and closes his eyes. When he opens them again, his eyes are back to their normal, healthy state, revealing that he had been lying the entire time about being re-blinded after Jennifer's magic wore off. Theo looks devastated by this revelation, "It would've never worked..."

"It could have worked... with Belasko's talons." Deucalion said with a shrug and before Theo can react further, Deucalion grabs him by the throat and snaps his neck. Amara chuckled as Theo looked up at Deucalion with wide eyes.

"You broke my neck!" Theo yelled and Deucalion rolls his eyes as he stands to his feet, "And good luck with that." He said before turning to Scott, Amara and Liam, ignoring Theo completely. "There's an access grate that leads to the sub-level. I think we can get to Lydia there." He said and Liam looked at him worriedly, "What about Mason?"

"We can still save your friend." He said and Scott nodded, "Let's go." He said. The four turn to leave, but before they can make it far, when all if the sudden a gun shot went off making them spin around as Deucalion clutches his bleeding wound while he slides down the wall onto the floor, "This just isn't my day..."

Gerard is smiling cruelly as he walks toward them with his gun aimed at Scott, while Makena moved to crouch down next to Deucalion. "This is a surprising alliance, Scott! You and Deucalion?" Gerard said. "How long have you been planning this clever little double-cross?" Gerard asked, "About as long as Amara and I have been planning this one." Argent said as he walked forward. He tosses Scott the cane making Gerard look at him shocked, "What are you doing?" He asked.

"I knew when I brought you back, it would never be about saving lives. Only about immortalizing your own." Argent said before raising his gun aiming it at Gerard, just as Gerard does the same to his son. Keeping his gun trained and his eyes never once leaving his father, "Guys, go."

Scott turns to leave with Liam, but both he and Amara looked hesitant as they turns back to Argent, whose voice is firmer this time. "Go, now!" He said and Scott grabbed Amara's arm before the three of them turn and leave without another word. But as soon as they turn the corner, a gunshot is heard.

Scott, who still has the cane in hand, is walking with Amara and Liam as they try to find the Beast when Liam sighs and stops walking. "I'll do it." He said making them walking as well and give him a sympathetic look.

"Liam..."

"It should be me. If you get me close enough, I'll do it." He said and reaches for the cane in Scott's hand, but Scott quickly pulled it back, "We're not killing your best friend." Amara said as Scott handed her the cane. The second she touched it, the cane it suddenly erupted in flames, burning off the wooden sheath that was concealing the pike.

"What are you doing?" Scott asked as they watch flames cover the steel pike, "I'm not doing this." Amara said. Suddenly, Sebastien appears at the other end of the hallway, "That belongs to me." He said making them turn to him.

"It's a family heirloom. I'd like it back, please. Before you melt it." He said and Amara shrugged slightly, "Finders keepers. Why don't you give us back Mason and then we'll consider giving you this." She said and Sebastien cocked his eyebrows at her. "Unfortunately, I would not know where to begin. And, while I've benefited from his memories, I don't have much use for an alter-ego."

Scott, who is clearly furious at him, looks over at the equally-angry Liam and Amara, who both nods before looking back at Sebastien, the three teenagers wolfed-out. "You want it? Come and get it!" Scott said and Sebastien's eyes start to glow a bright blue.

The pike clatters as it falls onto the floor while Amara throws punches at Sebastien who grabbed her wrist. She brought her leg up again, kicking him square in the chest making him stumble back. He growled under his breath before slowly transforming into the Beast and before Odette could do anything his clawed hand sliced across her chest making her cry out in pain as she stumbled back into the wall.

Scott and Liam waisted no time charging at the Beast as Amara could already feel herself healing quickly. She glanced down to see her blood soaked shirt with now had four large slash marks making her groan.

The Beast punches Liam in the face before engaging in a fist fight with Scott, which causes Scott to be tossed several feet backward. Eventually, both Scott and Liam end up in a heap on the floor, and they quickly hop to a crouching position before roaring and lunging for the Beast at the same time.

However, the Beast raises his arms above his head before slamming them down on the ground, causing a concussive blast that throws Scott and Liam against the pipe-lined walls. Amara barely managed to move out of the way before Liam could fly into her.

They groan in pain and writhe on the ground as they recover from this blow, just as the Beast, who has shifted back into a partially-transformed Sebastien, walks over to Amara, who had stepped away from the wall, and grabs her in a choke-hold. "You're strong- there's no doubt in that. But none of you fight with a killer instinct. Let me show you how to go for the throat."

Sebastien's long and sharp claws extend from his nail beds as he grips Amara tighter in a choke-hold, and Liam, seeing the cane laying nearby, gets up and grabs it before he unsheaths it. Sebastien hears this and turns around, still strangling Amara, and turns to Liam as Scott desperately tries to stop him while Amara looked at Liam alarmed.

"Liam, wait! We can still save Mason!" Scott yelled and Liam looked at him
panicked, "Well, who's going to save you?" He asked. Sebastien looks at them all with confusion and frowns, "What kind of werewolves are you?" He asked and despite Scott's warning, Liam roars and lunges for Sebastien with the sword in hand.

"No!"

Sebastien easily shoves Liam backward before he turns back to Amara, gripping her neck tighter while Liam groans and watches in horror. Scott's eyes widen when he noticed Sebastien's claws were about to accidentally stab the back of Amara's neck, "No, wait!" He yelled, going to rush forward but he was too late as Sebastian's claws went into Amara's neck making Sebastien start to see Amara's memories.

Many memories flashed through Amara's mind, from the Hale fire, to the formal, to Allison's death. "Marie-Jeanne?" Sebastien mumbled in confusion before Amara took a deep breath and ripped Sebastien's hands away from her. She stumbled back, putting some space between them, just as Lydia and Kira run down the tunnel.

"Mason..." Lydia called out, her voice still a little scratchy, Sebastien turns toward her and scoffs as he stalks toward them. Kira looked alarmed as she turns to Lydia, "I think you're gonna need to try it a little louder..." She said. Sebastien's eyes glow blue as he approaches them, and Lydia takes a deep breath before she yells at Sebastien as loud as she can while he transforms into the Beast.

"MASONNNNN!"

The force of Lydia's voice is so strong that it hits the Beast in waves, and both Scott and Liam look shocked as they see Lydia's new powers in action for the first time while Amara smiled proudly. The Beast raises his hands to cover his face from the force of Lydia's scream when suddenly, he bursts into a cloud of shadows from which Mason stumbles out.

Corey, who has been pressed against the wall the entire time to watch the plan go down, makes himself visible and rushes forward to catch
