"mal! finally!" hazel grabbed onto my arm , taking me over to sage and annalise.
"hey mal." sage smiled at me , as anna just waved , downing a shot.
"you're already taking shots?" i asked her , i don't exactly know when the party started but it couldn't have been going on that long.
"it's been two hours!"
or maybe it could.
i just smiled at her , as she poured another shot and handed it to me.
"cmon! shots!" she talked loud , so i could hear her over the music.
she waited for sage and hazel to grab their shot glasses , before we all drank them.
"cheers!"
and then she laughed , watching mine and sages faces turn from normal to sour.
if there was one thing annalise loved most , it was partys.
"okay! let's dance!" she said , tapping my shoulder before running off to where other teenagers were dancing.
"jeez." i mumbled , following behind hazel and sage.
we all danced together , smiling and laughing at how poorly we danced.
soon enough , i had downed three shots , while hazel , sage and annalise.. i lost count.
"be right back!" anna said , waving as she made her way towards the bathroom.
"i'm gonna go with her." hazel laughed , following behind anna.
"and i'm gonna sit down." sage pointed at me , and then to the couch that was a little far away.
i started the follow her , having a hold on her hand so i didn't get lost in the group of intoxicated teenagers dancing around.
for a party a freshman threw.. this was a lot more people than i expected.
running into someone , i let go of sages hand on accident.
"oh- i'm sorry." i smiled , meeting eyes with miles.
"you're good.. hey , i was looking for you." he smiled.
i felt nervous , like i didn't know the right words to say. "i was with my friends."
i remembered sage , and looked beside him.
"speaking of.. she's waiting for me."
he turned to look at sage , and as he did she waved me off , giving me a smile and a thumbs up before walking to the couch.
"never mind.." i spoke , making him laugh and turn back to me.
"hey.. wanna go talk somewhere else? it's loud right here." he asked me , turning to look in the direction of the stairs.
"yeah." i nodded , grabbing onto his hand as he lead me up the stairs.
-
mean while , sage was making her way to hazel and annalise to tell them about her friend , and ashtray had just been distracted from dealing , watching her walk away with his.. friend?
ashtray would never admit it , but he didn't hate malani as much as he made it out to seem. he actually thought she was funny , and really pretty.
but due to his brothers "rule" of her and him not dating or anything similar to that , his crush on her was soon covered up by "hate"
tho malani never knew that. for as long as she could remember , ashtray hated her. and she hated him. it's just always been way.
-
"when'd you get here?" miles asked me , sitting right next to me on the stairs.
"uh.. like an hour ago? i don't really remember." i shrugged.
"mm. i didn't see you when i got here , so i was just wondering." he nodded , maintaining eye contact.
"did you come with anyone?" he asked me , and i knew he was referring to a guy.
"my brother." i told him , looking down to see fezco sitting on a couch by himself.
i thought of fezco as my brother , but not ashtray. it was weird an complicated.. but i just didn't see ashtray that way.
he nodded , turning to look at people around us.
i was thinking of what to say , but i couldn't think of anything.
"you look good tonight , malani." he took me out of my thoughts , and i felt my cheeks heat up.
"thank you." i smiled , turning my body to face him.
"no problem." he smiled back , turning his body to me also.
he stared in my eyes , like he was waiting to do something.
and before i could ask if he wanted to dance or something , he put his hand on my face and leaned in.
it caught me off guard , but nonetheless i kissed him back.
maybe he will be more than just a hallways crush..
hearing cheers , we pulled away and looked down to see my three friends looking up at us.
i laughed , soon followed by him laughing with me.
"wanna dance?" he stood up , putting his hand out for me to grab.
"sure." i took it , standing up and following him down the stairs and back to where i had been dancing not long ago.
"yeah mal!" anna cheered , making me get embarrassed at how people turned to look at me.
he laughed , putting his hands on my waist as we danced together.
as i turned around , being spun by miles. i ran into someone , again.
"shit- oh." i looked up , seeing ashtray there.
"we're leaving." he told me , glancing at miles before looking at me again.
"what? why?" i asked , watching miles come stand next to me.
he rolled his eyes , "because we're going home malani."
"hey ash." miles put his hand out , ready to dab ashtray up. but ashtray just nodded and started walking to the door.
"i have to go." i told miles , turning to him.
he squinted his eyes , "you're leaving with ashtray?"
oh my god. this looks bad.
should i call ashtray my brother? i don't see him as a brother though.. shit. think fast.
"i live with him.. he's my ride home." i nodded , looking at the door which no one was standing at , meaning he already walked out.
"oh.. alright." miles nodded , pulling me into a hug before saying bye.
i waved at hazel , sage and annalise who were behind miles , and just as i turned around i heard gasps which made me turn around again , seeing nate on the ground with fezco on top of him , repeatedly punching him.
"holy shit." i pulled my phone out , recording it.
so this is why i needed to go outside. im glad i didn't miss this.
nate's face was bloody as he was laying there taking every punch fez was giving him.
maddy and cassie were trying to get fezco off of him , but he didn't budge until some guy pulled him off.
he gave lexi one last look before grabbing his sweater and pointing at me and then the door , meaning for me to go outside.
i rushed over to the door , and to the car before he could get a chance to yell at me for not leaving sooner.. if he would yell at me.
"holy.shit." i mumbled , re-watching the fight video.
