"No man has ever made me feel the things you've made me feel Stanley."
HB

1989

The human vampire hybrid sat alone in his shared apartment waiting for his lover to come back from his job. As a vampire Hayden didn't need a job, nor did he want one.

Stanley wanted to live more humanely though, and got a job as a waiter in a restaurant. The warlock was anything but ordinary in the regular world, but tried to fit in anyway.

When the warlock had gotten this new job Hayden knew right off the bat that his coworker liked him. She was a petite young woman about ten years younger than Stanley at 24.
She was quite beautiful if Hayden could say the least, and smart as well. Unless it came to the ticking bomb of whether Stanley was in a relationship or not.

She asked him once if he was in a relationship, to which she was told that the warlock was in a happy and caring relationship. The young woman was happy for him but saddened that she wasn't able to make a move of her own.
The thing that always bothered her was the fact that she never saw the man's girlfriend. She only ever saw his friend, Hayden. She would never think to put the two pieces of the puzzle together.

That day in particular Hayden decided to head down to Stanley's line of work. Just to see him doing the job he actually loves to do.

The vampire was shocked when he saw Stanley waiting a table with none other than the woman with a crush on him. He politely took their orders with Hayden standing outside the restaurant watching.
His temper had risen when the woman placed an unnecessary hand on his boyfriend's arm. Stanley was too polite to tell her to back off, and Hayden knew that.

It wasn't a time when men were openly gay, and Hayden knew he couldn't- shouldn't do anything.

It was like a moment in heaven when Stanley looked up and locked eyes with his obviously angry boyfriend lurking in the shadows. Stanley only excused himself from the table claiming he had something to get before walking through the restaurant and out the back door.

Stepping outside he was faced with a harsh wind as Hayden sped in front of him. He was pushed against the brick wall of the restaurant, hands above his head and knees struggling to keep him up.

There was one thing that always made Hayden uneasy. It was the fact that he would never be able to grow old with the man he loved, and that said man didn't want to live forever.
It was a course of nature that Stanley didn't want to mes with, and Hayden understood it completely. If he had a choice he wouldn't have lived as long as he has himself.

"I hate that woman. Must she always go around and whore herself around?"

Stanley breathlessly laughed beneath the frame of the smaller man, letting the vampire get his steam off of his chest.

"I wish I could just spell it right out for her that you are mine."

Stanley only nodded his head against the cold brick wall behind him. The air hugged his body making him feel suffocated, but he never planned to move. He loved the feeling of the smaller male's possessiveness.

"Now darling. You know I only have eyes for you."

Stanley leaned forward the tiniest bit, touching his nose against the vampire's sweetly. Their breaths mingled and bodies began to tangle in one another's.

"I know. I just- I get- She just irks me!"

The warlock nodded once more before flipping the two around so he was holding Hayden against the wall. Hayden breathed in deeply as a small crimson blush made it's way across his face.
He looked down shyly, knowing how worked up he had gotten over nothing. Stanley cupped the male's chin making him look up and into his eyes.

"I get it. I do. I wish I could tell the world how you are mine and I am yours. But we can't... Not yet."

Hayden's eyes wanted to water, wanted to shed a tear, but he held it in.

"Then... When? In thirty years when you're old and I'm still looking as young as I do? Or in fifty because we both know the America we live in is not one to let us live peacefully."

Stanley sighed heavily, knowing the vampire was right. He knew deep down he was right, yet he didn't want to ever think of letting him go.

"I don't know Hay... But a vampire and a warlock? We could fight them all off if we truly wanted to."

Hayden sucked in a breath. His hazel eyes met those ocean blue ones and he was done for. How could he ever let go of the man hovering over him? He would never be able to unless he was asked to.

And he prayed he was never asked such a task as that.

"You should get back to work Stanley."

The warlock nodded, pushing himself away from the smaller male. He began to walk away until he felt like something was bound to happen, so he turned sharply and pulled the vampire into a much needed kiss.

"I love you Hayden."

Hayden smiled, "I love you too Stanley."

2028

Hayden, Hope, the Ambrosias twins, and the Saltzman twins all sat waiting inside the van a few blocks from where the headmaster, Dorian, and Emma went to try and find the urn.
Hope sat stilly on Hayden's lap as he was currently taking a nap. She softly ran her fingers over the skin of his soft hand, and would lean down to kiss his knuckles every so often.

Josie sat against the van wall with earbuds in, and Hope could tell she wasn't even listening to anything. She shrugged it off as her being antisocial.

Lizzie sat bickering with Dahlia, who would laugh it off along with her twin.

All was still chaotic in the van between the teens and nine hundred year old vampire, but none of them moved to get out.

Half an hour later Alaric and Emma walked back to the van telling them that they would be splitting up to walk around the town looking for anything out of the ordinary.

The tribrid, vampire, and Dahlia went to check out the fountain area while the Saltzman twins and Bellamy walked around the town.
Lizzie and Josie walked around asking if anyone had seen anything suspicious or strange, both receiving shakes of heads as their answers.

Bellamy had managed to get a couple of girl's phone numbers, but nothing else.

The two groups came back together in front of the water fountain, both finding nothing to help them.

"Fun fact: this town as the biggest ball of yarn in the country." Hope's group rolled their eyes at Josie, "And nobody's seen anything strange."

Lizzie sighed, "This isn't exactly a hotpot of activity." The Gemini witch looked directly at Hope them, "Our hopes of finding anything are going up in smoke."

A light bulb went off in the tribrid's head, "Wait, are you passive aggressively referring to that fire in my dorm room three years ago?"

"You mean the one you set on purpose to sabotage our spring break trip with our dad? No, Hope. Why would I talk about that?"

"Dude, you've lost it."

"The only thing that we lost was a week of quality family time. Dad had to cancel the trip to deal with the damage. So mission accomplished."

Hayden clapped his hands, "Well this just sounds like ancient history. Take the stick out of your arse Lizzie."

The Ambrosias twins both laughed. "Ow! Something stung me." Josie slapped at her arm only to uncover a giant forming wart on her forearm.

Hope's nose scrunched up, as well as the others around her, "Ew."

Lizzie leaned over it to inspect it closer, "Gross."

The six of them all looked around when buzzing started to sound all around them. It was getting closer and louder by the seconds.

Hope looked up as a giant hoard of bugs began to fly above them, "This is plague-y, right? It seems plague-y."

Everyone around them started to freak out and run, leaving the group of six looking around with bored looks on their faces.

"Oh it's definitely plague-y."

Jumping into action Hayden looked around to make sure no one could see him, and when he was sure of it, he one by one moved all five of the others into a random SUV stalling on the street.

The bugs swarmed the SUV trying to get in, making Hope cling onto Hayden in fear of what they might do. Lizzie was screaming as the bugs became more and more along with Josie. Dahlia simply stared out curiously.

"You know, these hornets, they're indigenous to Africa, or Southwest Asia. I mean, they shouldn't even be on this continent."

Bellamy deadpanned at his sister with a shake of his head. Hope laughed at her best friend, "Be careful, your geek side is showing."

Lizzie had her eyes covered as another minute went by. It was then that the bugs fell from around the van. They were all dead in an instant.

"Whoa. Look."

Lizzie breathed in, "Look? I would look if I weren't covering my eyes Bellamy!"

Bellamy clicked his tongue, "No, they all..."

"Just died." Hayden finished for him.

A sudden movement in the corner of Josie's eye made her scream before a man in a yellow hazmat suit leaned into their lines of sight.
He motioned for them to get out, which made the tribrid feel uneasy. There was something going on in this town, and she had to figure out what.

"We need to find your dad."

Lizzie scoffed, "Maybe we'll pass the fire station on the way to him."

The man in the hazmat suit pointed to another group walking into what looked to be a building wrapped in plastic. Hayden nodded at the man and lead the others toward the building as discreetly as possible.

"Oh, my god. We barely just survived a biblical plague. For the last time, I didn't stand that fire, and I've never ruined a spring break."

"Lizzie, now's not the time." Josie tried to get her sister to stop, but it was no use.

"Fifth grade. You callously gave me the flu while we were building our float for witch week. With global warming, I may never seen the Florida keys. That's on you."

Hope had had enough of Lizzie's childish words, and wanted to explode at the Gemini witch would didn't seem to want to stop.

"We built it with Alyssa Chang! Who had pneumonia over spring break. It wasn't me, and I didn't start that fire. And I'm also getting tired of your crap!"

"Um, hey..."

Bellamy snapped out of his trance on the two fighting girls to see Josie looking down at her arm with worry. He quickly walked over to her and looked down at her arm like she was and nearly puked at the site of it.

"There's a boil on your boil."

Josie nodded, looking like she was about to pass out, "Yep. Yep I can see that..."

Hayden stopped ahead of the group when the line started to get closer to them. He looked back to see a fuming Hope, and quickly drug her until she was right beside him.
He leaned down close to her ear and kissed the side of her head before whispering in her ear, "Don't let the bitch witch get the best of you my love."

Hope nodded, about to reply when a man with a blow horn began to talk, "Single file. You're going to be safe. Everyone get in line to be checked in."

As they all got in line they saw people with more boils on their faces and body than the single one that flooded Josie's arm.
They all internally gagged at the sight of them, but tried to remain calm. It wasn't until they were inside that they found Alaric and Emma.

After everyone agreed something was up with the organization there to help with the infestation, they came to the front of the line where a lady with a clipboard stood.

The black haired lady looked up with boredom in her eyes, "You together?"

Alaric and Emma shared an awkward look before the headmaster nodded with a fake smile, placing his arm over the petite woman's shoulders.

"We're here from Roanoke. Came to see the biggest ball of yarn."

The lady nodded, "And these are?"

Alaric squeezed Emma's shoulders a bit tighter, "This is my wife... Emma. Uh... these are my daughters. From my first marriage... And uh the tall one is-" Hope quickly intervened, "My boyfriend."

The woman blinked while Alaric laughed lightly, "And uh- Bellamy and Dahlia here are uh..."

"My girlfriend."

"My boyfriend."

Both Lizzie and Josie glanced at each other before placing their arms on their respective partner. Bellamy wrapped his arms around Lizzie with a small smirk while Dahlia nodded and laced her fingers with Josie's.

The woman let them pass, and as they tried to walk discretely, Hope noticed the man from their adventure of saving Landon staring at her as she walked by.

Beauty like hers doesn't go unnoticed, thought the man.

Hope, Hayden, and Alaric stood at two plastic containers filled with water pouring themselves a cup. Hayden stood behind Hope staring at the man that he recognized from the supposed gas leak that occurred at the house Landon was previously held at.

"Don't look, but that guy over there was outside of Seylah's house when we were in Kansas, with the fake gas leak." Alaric immediately looked, "I said don't look!"

Hayden laughed as the headmaster looked down embarrassed.

"What's he doing here?"

Hayden leaned forward in between the two for them to hear him, "Probably the same thing we were. Trying to cover things up."

Alaric nodded in agreement, "There are groups like this scattered all over the globe. Probably tracking the same activity we were."

The three sipped on their cups of water as normally as they could while looking around. Through an open flap in the plastic tent they were currently in they could see men decorated in black military suits loading a ton of artillery into the back of black SUVs.
It was then that Hayden saw one of the members carrying a tank of air for diving, as well as diving flippers. He tried not to look slightly panicked at the fact that Dorian was still supposed to be out there himself looking for the urn.

"Shit!"

Hope side glanced at her boyfriend while Alaric scolded him about his language.

"Look!" Hayden pointed toward the men, "Look at their gear."

Alaric narrowed his eyes as he saw what Hayden had, "They're here for the urn."

Hope breathed out a whispering, "Dorian."

Alaric had told everyone to stay calm and collected as he would try and come up with a plan. He was sure this organization would have triggers if Hayden used his vampire abilities, or if any of the teens used their abilities.
He decided to make the girls and Bellamy crossed Emma to keep her secured while he and Hayden went walking around to try and find out a plan.

It was bad enough that the organization had taken their cell phones.

"Hayden. We need to call Dorian, and to do that we need a cell phone. You think you could compel someone to get them back for us?"

Hayden smirked, "Oh is that even a question?"

The two stood up and began to walk until they found someone for Hayden to compel, but was stopped short when the man from the gas leak stopped in front of them.

"Hello. I'm Deputy Agent Clarke. I apologize for the inconvenience. I see you're from Richmond?"

Alaric knew the man was trying to catch him in a lie, "Uh, Roanoke."

"I'm just checking in with everyone. Sooner we get everyone proper medical attention sooner you can go see that giant ball of yarn."

Alaric laughed, "Well, we, uh, don't need any attention, but thank you."

The curly haired man looked down at the clipboard in his hand, "So you came in from Raleigh on a road trip with your family?"

The headmaster once again corrected the agent, "Roanoke."

"Roanoke. Sorry."

The two held eye contact in a way that told the other there was more to each of their stories. Alaric wasn't from Roanoke and the agent wasn't an agent.

"You ever been to Kansas?"

Alaric's smile slowly faded and was replaced with a stoic expression.

Hope watched from her seat against the wall beside Josie who leaned toward her and whispered, "Hey, who is that guy?"

"This creep we met in Kansas when you guys were in Europe."

Both of the Ambrosias twins immediately remembered the man and shared a knowing look.

Lizzie perked up at the mention of her father and Hope together in Kansas, "Why were you in Kansas? Oh, wait, let me guess, it involved you insinuating yourself into a situation where only you could be the hero."

Hope was slowly losing her temper with the blonde Gemini witch, causing her eye to slightly twitch as she snapped back at her.

"As a matter of fact, yeah."

"I swear to god, you will do anything to get attention."

The tribrid scoffed loudly, "Said the narcissist."

Lizzie gasped with mock hurt, "Said the... other narcissist!"

Josie sighed, "Okay guys, can we please just stop?"

"Okay, fine. You know what?" The tribrid paused, "Maybe I was jealous. Maybe I wanted what you had. A simple day with my family. I lost half of my stuff in that fire," Hope's eyes were now beginning to tear up, "including the only painting I made with my dad. Why would I do that to myself?"

The entire group of teens around the tribrid could hear the tremble in her voice and the shaking of her body.

Lizzie was shocked to say the least, and fell completely silent beside her twin who had done the same. Soon enough Hayden showed up in front of Hope in human speed, placing a hand on her shoulder that ran up her neck to rest on her cheek.

The tribrid slowly looked up at him with a shaky smile, making the vampire want to completely destroy the witch who dared to make her upset.

From behind him he could hear Alaric and the man still talking, and only when he heard the words Mystic Falls and school of supernatural children did he crane his neck to look back at them. The creepy looking man leaned forward slightly with a smirk on his face while Alaric's body seemed to be tensed up.

In a matter of seconds Alaric could be seen nodding and then he turned around and walked up to Hope and Hayden. He told them to follow him where they went back to the man and outside the tent.

"I work for an organization that keeps monsters and things that go bump in the night from public view. I thought I recognized you, Gavin, and Jessica..."

"It's Hope, actually."

Hayden let his lips turn upward as he placed his hand on the lower back of his girlfriend as a simple gesture of comfort.

"And I'm Hayden."

Agent Clarke simply overlooked it and continued on, "I wasn't sure if it was a coincidence, so we searched your van. We know you're Alaric Saltzman, headmaster of the Salvatore School. We know a lot about it. You have a terrific reputation."

Alaric narrowed his eyes, "Leave the school out of this."

"I applaud you. You do your job and it makes mine easier."

Hayden stepped forward then, "So then why are we still here?"

Clarke sighed, "Well, I need an entire town to forget what they've seen today. You know, usually it's
