You are a close friend of the student council's president, this somehow lead to them listing you as a student council member. Honestly, you thought the council did nothing but govern around the school, showing off their power, and whatnot to the students, but it wasn't.

It suprised you a bit that you didn't know much of the council and you thought it was easy, but it wasn't.

Well, that was mostly because the council's president gave you majority of the tasks that required running around the school. They thought you were athletic but they were very wrong. Of course, a little exercise here and there doesn't hurt and it's never really that tiring, but when it comes to upcoming events, your feet were bound to hurt.

Luckily for you, they let you off early as a 'thank you' for helping around and giving your best despite being forced into participating as another member of the council.

You wanted to go home immediately, but you decided to go visit Yachi and your upperclassman in the volleyball club to see how they were doing.

You didn't know much about sports clubs, you only knew that there were competitions and tournaments, or whatever that they have to participate in, but it was just at that. You also rarely ever came to watch any practice since it wasn't part of the condition the student council president gave you and although you could have, you didn't put much thought into it.

Sports weren't your thing. It's great to see that there are people who are so passionate about it and they get to be healthy, and all that, but you didn't understand them. That's mainly the reason why it's not so often that you give attention to any sports club.

But since you're a close friend of the two managers in the volleyball club and an upperclassman did ask for you to come by once you're finished with your work or when you've got time, you decided to stop by.

The doors were locked and it would be awkward (for you) to ask if you could enter when you're not an associate of the team, so you just watched outside from the window.

You only observed for a short while due to the uncomfortable and painful pose you were in, trying to hold onto the bars that secured the window. It was also hard to watch since the window was dusty and your hands were starting to hurt a lot.

You looked down at your hands; they were dirty. A mix of black and brown painted your palms, they smelled weird too. Thankfully it's a Friday, so you just wiped your hands on your [skirt/pants].

You decided to fish out your phone from your bag and sent a message to the small group chat Yachi, you, and Kiyoko have.

"The doors were locked so I just watched from the window. The guys look so pumped for this year's tournaments, but make sure to remind them to mot overwork. :)

I'm walking back home aheadโ€“ wait I see Hinode by the gate, I'll walk back home with him. Also, I hope you don't mind I left ahead... the errands tired me out and my feet are hurting like hell ('เผŽเบถเฝผฯเผŽเบถเฝผ')"

โ€”

"That's it for today! Go back home and make sure to rest! Don't overwork yourselves!" Coach Ukai yelled at the team in which they responded with a unison, "Yes!"

They all cleaned up with their team managers before they left to go wash up and change. Back in the court were Coach Ukai, the advisor; Takeda-sensei, Kiyoko, and Yachi.

Yachi felt her pockets vibrate, she stopped what she was doing, and took her phone out. It was a message from you to the group chat. She has already finished the tasks she was given, so with that she opened the message.

Her eyes scanned through the two medium sized text boxes. She felt her heart beat fast yet hurt at the same time. She held no romantic feelings towards you, or at least that's what she knows. But seeing you mention Hinode (yours and her neighbor) it made her heart sink.

She felt empty all of a sudden, her heart began feel heavy, and she started to feel displeased. Not towards you but Hinode. She thought and always has thought of that guy as a sweet and kind one, someone that can be trusted with anything, but only jealousy kicked in.

Her eyebrows knitted together; she was frowning and angry, which was almost never an expression she made. Especially outside of her own home.

Her hand gripped on her phone so hard it looked like it was about to break and smash into pieces. But a voice that called out to her stopped all her thoughts and softened her face,

"Hitoka-chan?" It was Kiyoko.

"A-ah! Kiyoko-san! Sorry, I was um... reading a bit." Yachi didn't know what she was saying but brushed it all off anyway, lying to herself that she was just a bit protective of you since Hinode has never come to pick you up from school, or anything.

Yachi changed from her uniform, along with Kiyoko, and before she could even think back to those thoughts that clouded her head back then, Kiyoko was already sending her back home.

โ€”

After sending Yachi home, Kiyoko walked back to her own.

The walk was silent and the only thing keeping her from going crazy from all that silence were the crickets, a few dogs barking and cats meowing, and a footsteps from the people that walked by her.

Kiyoko was fine with having little to no thoughts during the whole walk to her house. She didn't want to remember anything from school yet or think about what she has to do next at home. Just a short, quiet, and relaxing few minutes was all she wanted when she remembered.

That text message.

The feeling of jealousy was first to strike, she didn't understand her own emotions. Why was she jealous anyway?

She rummaged through her thoughts to look for that one thing that made her feel that way.

It was you.

No, no, it was someone else.

"Who is it?!" The voice in her head yelled, she was starting to become frustrated with herself. There was no reason to feel envious of something or someone, there really wasn't.

She thought about it some more and images of people flashed in her head, her head seemed to know who to look for. So many people flooded her head until it went back to you, then to Hinode.

"Hinode?"

She then remembers that text message, that he was walking you home.

"I'm supposed to walk you home." That voice in her head suddenly spoke,

"What? What the hell are you talking about?" She asked herself, shaking her head as if to waggle that voice away.

Those thoughts halted when her house came into her view and suddenly, she forgot about everything that happened throughout her walk.

โ€”

The next week came and you were a bit perplexed at the fact that Yachi and Kiyoko left you on read then completely went offline. The two of them.

Quite uncanny, really. The first thing that popped up in your head was whether or not their phones were working at all, or their wi-fi. It was not about their health or how they were doing, but it also didn't register in your brain that that wasn't the first thing you thought.

Or maybe that was because you trusted them that much, you knew they wouldn't get in trouble of some sort? Yeah, probably.

You had already finished everything, you were quite motivated today. So instead of lazing around, you cleaned your surroundings and made sure you looked and smelled good today. You then went to checking your bring-home schoolwork before walking to school.

Hinode couldn't walk you to school today since he said he had to go early for his morning soccer practice, you told him it was fine, and walked on your own.

The school soon came into view and before you knew it, classes started.

โ€”

"This is bad. This is bad!" Yachi started to panic, she currently sat on the toilet seat, trying to calm herself and recollect her thoughts.

She felt like she was going crazy and all that happened when her eyes took a glance at you. Was she becoming obsessed or something?

She didn't want to think, not about this, not right now. She needed to focus on her studies, club, and doing her best. Not this unknown feeling.

But it wasn't only her, the same was happening to Kiyoko. The reason for this was Hinode.

The two of them felt ill thinking about the guy, it just suddenly felt like he was someone not to be interacted with. Their heads were filled with nothing but you, your health, and your condition. They felt the sudden need to protect you, keep you away from Hinode.

Keep you away from anyone.

"What is this..."

โ€”

"That's it for today! Wrap it up and go home. For the rest of the week, you'll do nothing but work hard, but don't overwork! Never! Do not do that!" Coach Ukai sounded funny when he said that, but nobody took the time to laugh at it.

"Yes!" They all yelled in unison.

The same things happened like every other after practice, cleaning, washing up then changing. Nobody has noticed Kiyoko and Yachi's weird behaviour, at least none of them but Daichi.

Daichi has a sharp eye, especially when it comes to his team members. He only wants what's best for them which is so kind of him, but he sometimes does it too much.

He kept a close eye on the two as of now.

"There is definitely something wrong..." Daichi mumbled to himself.

He didn't mean to look like a creep or anything, tailing the two girls around wherever they went, it was just that, it became obvious to him that the two managers were acting weird. Very weird.

Everytime he sees you pass by, he'd always manage to catch the two girls look at you intensely. Like hungry dogs looking at meat.

At first, he brushed this off thinking the two had a crush on the same girl, but Kiyoko and Yachi's behaviour were becoming unnatural in his eyes. The two weren't one to act like that and none of their actions sat right with him.

In only a matter of a few weeks, Kiyoko and Yachi weren't the same anymore. Daichi has been observing and he was ready to confront the two about it.

Because having a whole notebook dedicated to plotting one's demise is not an everyday thing.

"This has to be some sick joke..." He thought as he read through the almost unreadable words on the picture he took of a page on the notebook Yachi has.

A sweet girl like her shouldn't have something like this.

โ€”

"You called us, Sawamura?" Kiyoko asked.

He examined her face for a few seconds before sighing, "What are you two up to?" He asked.

"What do you mean, Sawamura-san?" Yachi asked.

"Why does she look confused?" He was also confused himself.

"You're both acting very weird, just what are you two doing?"

"Nothing...?" The two girls looked at each other for a brief second before responding in unison. Deep down, they knew that he knows what's up, or at least the gist of it.

"He has to go."

"Apparently he went swimming and drowned to death..." The news spread fast.

You've never experienced having anyone you're acquainted with, die. And he was swimming in a lake all by himself at night? Was Sawamura crazy or something?

"I think the entrance exams got to him..." Some students joked, which you thought was really messed up. This wasn't something to joke about, so why were they?

If they were in his place, they would understand why. But the thing is, they aren't him. And nobody last saw him after club meetings.

Daichi Sawamura, he was your upperclassman. You never had the guts to walk up to him and talk to him, so he did it for you and it would always end up in long conversations. Although you weren't as close to him, you trusted him. And he shouldn't have died, he did nothing wrong. He was so kind and caring, so why did he? What was the reason?

The rumors spread quickly around the school, some even made speculations on his death and told their group of friends a disturbingly detailed explanation on how they thought he died.

The things you've heard around the school made you sick to your stomach. Not only were the speculations disturbing, they were also disrespectful with how they threw in jokes here and there.

"Yn-san, are you okay?" Kiyoko seemed to be busy so you were here having lunch with Yachi instead.

Your lips were dry, the things you've heard were disgusting, and even though you were looking forward to lunch and eating your food, you didn't feel like it anymore despite your stomach being empty.

"Yn-san...?" She asked again, leaning forward to you, her upperclassman, who appeared to be petrified.

You slowly look at Yachi whose eyebrows were knitted together, her small frown along with her soft, brown eyes that looked to be filled with concern and sympathy. You would never think of the sweet girl as something else other than kind and pure, but her eyes scared you.

You didn't find any comfort or relief in the way she looked at you. It felt weird to be gazed at like that by her.

"It's probably just because of this morning..." As usual, you brushed everything off as if nothing was wrong.

With the loss of a student who a majority of the students in the school liked, this caused the downfall of the volleyball club. The coach returned back to working part-time at his family-owned store, their advisor tried to get them all together but soon gave up as well as the members.

Yachi and Kiyoko soon quit.

The one who dealt the most damage in the club though... were Sugawara and Asahi. You barely had any connection to them, to Daichi, but that didn't help the fact that you suddenly felt empty.

"Maybe it's just because it's my first time hearing about an acquaintance's death," Your naivety caused you to believe that Daichi's death was a part of the gods' plans for him. The possibility of him being murdered wasn't an option in your head, you were too tired to even think.

You let another week pass with that mindset and another, and another. You noticed a little change within your two best friends' behaviour but you didn't even give it any thought.

"They're still developing, after all." Just another excuse for something you should keep a look out on.

"I'm just too tired." Since when? Since your upperclassman's demise? Didn't you say you barely had any connection to him?

"I'm going to sleep." Your brain was tired but you, yourself, weren't.

Maybe if you stopped lying and listened to yourself for once, everything that's happening now wouldn't have happened.

โ€”

A tally of wished rolled in through your head, turning up the moment the dream you had, ended. It was a dream crammed full with warmth, color, and life.

Your eyes flickered rapidly, trying to get and keep them open. You were tired and felt enervated.

"What path did I choose wrong to end up in this situation?" Your eyes began to blur.

It felt like being on the verge of death, your stomach felt empty to the rim, you felt cold, and frail. You could barely even keep your eyes open inside the cold and dark room that you stayed in.

The tears that started to fill up in your eyes finally let themselves flow, flowing down slowly to your cheeks, down to the pillows. Sniffled and troubled breathing echoed within the walls, yet nobody seemed to hear them.

Your chest tightened, you were terrified of what would happen if you didn't keep your cries to a minimal volume but you couldn't try to stay calm.

Your thoughts were interrupted when the door opened, light flashed its way into your face, making you squint your eyes. You tried to act asleep but it didn't work.

Kiyoko stood in front of you with a poker face.

"What's she doing here?" Something screamed 'danger' about her which you didn't like. She's your friend but then again, you're here in this cold and dark room, while she's standing right in front of you; calm and unbothered.

"K-Kiyoko... what am I doing here?" You asked her, she only knelt down to your height, and caressed your cheek.

"Yn, this is your fault."

"...huh?" The pace of your heartbeat quickened, there was something eerie about her. It was the way she looked and the way she spoke to you, you weren't dumb enough not to suspect her of anything, but your head wasn't working well at the moment.

"Yn, all this happened because of you." She said, looking down at you.

She pulls out a pocket knife before bringing it closer to your face, running the tip of the knife on your face, but didn't press it against your skin too much. The feeling sent shivers down your spine and it made you wonder why this was happening.

Weren't you just about to sleep a second ago? What happened to that?

She runs the pocket knife against your skin for some time, muttering incoherent words, before returning it back into the pocket she got it from.

She was about to leave when you made yourself fall on the floor, "Wait, Kiyoko!"

Can you possibly talk your way out of this?

She only turns to you, a small glint from her glasses captured your eyes. It was very dark, you could hardly see her face, yet you knew what kind of expression she wore.

"Kiyoko, please tell me... what happened." You choked on your words, you wanted to just close your eyes for now and very much rathered having to sleep in a dark room all alone than deal with someone who... you can't even understand or read anymore.

How many more days passed? It felt like forever during the time you stayed inside this dark room, you got three meals everyday, but it was still tiring.

You couldn't move a lot anymore, you were frail.

The two girls, Yachi and Kiyoko, you didn't know what to think of them anymore. Only yesterday, or maybe not, did you start to get ahold of yourself, you tried to connect the dots with the minimal knowledge you have of what was happening to you.

In the midst of thinking, the door opened revealing the two girls you were just thinking about. They seemed to be dragging something, not sure what but it seemed heavy. They soon threw the heavy object onto the floor beside you.

"Yn!"

You were wrong, it wasn't an object. It was someone.

"What are you doing here, Hinode?! Are you okay?!" You asked, gathering all your strength to crawl towards the boy, only to be carried aside by Kiyoko. "Yn, we're doing this for you, so stop and look at us. Not him."

"What?"

"Ask about us instead, not him. We experience pain and make risks everyday for you, yet the first person you ask of their well-being is this... bitch?"

Kiyoko and Yachi made a deal before, that they would help each other get rid of everything standing in their way to share youโ€”

"K-Kiyoko... what are you saying?"

Loud footsteps caught your attention, you turned to Hinode to see that he was being tied to a chair, sitting in front of you. Yachi had a sad look on her face as she did, she soon looked at you, "Look at what you're making us do... we just want to spend time with you, yet every day, we have to do this."

"B-But you don't have to! I'm right here! You
