Behind that closed door was a neat little room full to the brim of childish things, although you wouldn't dare to call them childish in front of Sans.

Action figures, a few scarves, and a cute little blue car bed in the corner with Chara sitting on top of its sheets, fiddling with their phone.

You silently made your way over to the bed, barely making a sound. Then you whispered right into Chara's left ear, "Boo."

They screamed a little, jumping up, looking around wildly. You doubled over laughing while the ambassador glared at you.

"(N/N)!! Stop doing that," they hissed. "You're going to give me a heart attack someday, you know."

Recovering from your fit of giggles, you shot back, "After everything you've seen, I'm pretty sure it's going to take more than just a little scare to take you down."

The human shrugged, putting their phone away. "So," you smiled, putting your hands under your chin. "How was the meeting today?"

Chara smirked. "Those Anti-Monster people are going down," they declared, their determination beaming. "We have all the best supporters, and we have the rule of majority on our side. There's really no reason for the two species to be apart!"

Your good friend Chara was the ambassador of monsterkind. Ever since they returned from the underground, they were in charge of merging humans and monsters together again. It was going splendidly, even with a few oppressors. Every monster that had ever lived under Mt. Ebott was free to do whatever they (legally) wanted, and there was peace.

It truly was a nice and perfect recovery: mostly everyone getting along, barely anymore violence, and altogether happiness.

That was something that bothered you.

Chara looked over at you, slight concern on their face. "Hey, (N/N)?" They asked softly. "Are you feeling OK? You look a bit sick."

You looked up at them, your normally (E/C) eyes dulled slightly. "I'm just..." You started, thinking through your words carefully. "...bored."

That wasn't a lie. You were bored of the peace. You were bored of the harmony. Chaos was fun. Anarchy was entertaining. Entropy was a thrill, but everything here was just... boring.

The human knew what you meant, and started fiddling with their golden locket. It was a nervous habit, they'd told you, but you had known better.

The locket had once belonged to their late brother. After a bit of gentle interrogation, they admitted that they were silently asking him for help.

A few silent moments passed before Chara brightened. You smiled again; every time they smiled it meant they had an idea. "We could visit my mom," they thought to you, "She could teach us some new things."

Ms. Toriel, former queen of the Underground, now ran a quaint little flower shop downtown. Or in Papyrus' case, just around the corner. She was kind and gentle, always handling both the most beautiful flowers and children with the most amazing amount of care.

Chara had once told you it was to make up for all of the previous fallen children. The guilt had been eating away at her soul for ages, and now she hoped she could forgive herself through golden buttercups and violet roses.

In a few minutes, the two of you were out the door. You had your backpack and phone, and several little knives and vials. Chara, of course, carried their own phone. They didn't care much for violence. In fact, they were against it, but somehow managed to tolerate you.

After walking for a minute, you finally came across the quiet flower shop. Chara did the honors of pushing open the door, a tiny bell ringing as they did.

"Mom?" They called out, slinging their backpack down near the front desk. "Mom, where are you? I'm here with (N/N)."

A few moments later, a familiar face poked out of the doorway. Ms. Toriel has a gentle face, worn with worry and thin sadness after a long life of stress and misery after losing both children and killing a few more.

That was all forgotten, however, when she smiled at you and Chara. "(N/N)! What a nice surprise," they exclaimed, motioning you inside the staff room. "I didn't think you would be dropping by today!"

You smiled back, chuckling. "I am full of surprises, aren't I?" You winked at her, causing Chara to glare at you. You laughed and pushed them lightly.

"I don't suppose you're here to learn more magic?" Asked Ms. Toriel, crossing her arms. You sighed, lips tugging upwards.

"You know me so well," you admitted. Then again, almost every time that you came here, it was to learn magic. Ms. Toriel never hesitated to fill you in on fire magic or a special healing spell. You were personally more interested in the active, offensive spells, such as spells that could make it so a wound from your knife wouldn't heal.

Oh yeah, you really loved that one spell that made it so your enemy could heal. It was your favorite, watching people struggle.

"...(N/N)? (N/N), did you hear anything that I just said?" You were pulled rudely from your thoughts by Chara, who was now squinting at you suspiciously.

There wasn't even a point in lying. "Nope," you confessed, palms up. "Not a single word." They giggled a little before turning back to their adoptive mother.

"Whatcha going to teach today?" Chara asked, eyes shining. Although they couldn't convey magic as easily, they loved to see you try. They really liked seeing you fail, too. Sadistic littleβ€”

"Hmm..." Ms. Toriel murmured, looking at nothing in particular. "I might teach you a spell that could protect yourself from-"

"CanILearnTheWhisperingSpell?" You blurted, suddenly very impatient. The former queen took in a sharp breath. Chara looked away. You suddenly realized that you had made a mistake.

You had overheard a conversation about the 'Whispering Spell,' a spell so dark and powerful that a foe could never recover. Ms. Toriel had gasped and Mr. Asgore had closed his eyes slowly, looking down.

Apparently the 'Whispering Spell' was a taboo to monsterkind. It was a taboo especially now. The only sound was the sound of light breathing and a ticking wall clock.

"...(N/N)," Ms. Toriel finally whispered, breaking the silence. "(N/N), if I told you the spell... if I told you the spell completely then something bad might..."

She trailed off at the determined look in your eyes. While she was stuttering, you had already come up with a counter. "Then don't," you responded simply.

Their eyes both widened comically. You would never turn down a dark spell, especially not when it was quite potentially the darkest spell to ever exist! But you weren't done yet.

"Just tell it to me in fragments," you suggested. "Then I won't hear the whole spell, and I won't be cursed." To top it off, you folded your hands neatly in your lap. Nailed it.

Ms. Toriel's expression turned considerate, gears in her mind turning. Chara pursed their lips, sending another glare at you. Still, you knew they were hopeful. You knew they wanted to know as much as you did.

After a few more seconds of contemplation, Ms. Toriel finally let out a sigh and rubbed the bridge of her nose: another nervous habit. You suddenly realized how observant of the little things you were.

"I suppose," she relented, "That it wouldn't hurt to teach you something..."

You jumped up with a loud whoop, before immediately slapping a hand over your mouth at Ms. Toriel's dead serious face.

"However," she warned, tone hard as a rock. "Never, under any circumstances, use the spell carelessly. That is exactly how your story ends."

Suddenly very solemn, you nodded. Even someone like you knew when enough was enough. And this world certainly wasn't enough. Time to kick it up a notch.

With Chara looking on with huge eyes, you and Ms. Toriel sat down across from each other. She looked you in the eye and you stared right back. After a few seconds of awkward silence, she began.

"(N/N)," she said, maintaining her stone cold tone. You could see Chara shudder out of the corner of your eye. You recalled the time that they told you about their first fight with the queen: how they had died many times to that tone ringing in their ears.

"Do you swear to never use this spell selfishly, to never use it for your own intentions?"

Swallowing hard, you nodded. You needed this spell. There was a gut feeling that you needed this spell...

Clearing her throat, Ms. Toriel began. "Repeat after me. You will never be able to forget this spell. Just don't say it all at once, alright?" Another nod, and she began.

"From my very soul, to the bottom I reach."

"From my very soul, to the bottom I reach..."

"May upon my enemy's power I leech."

"May upon my enemy's power I leech..."

"From greatest evils yet awoken."

"From greatest evils yet awoken..."

"Shatter the one that cannot be broken."

"Shatter the one that cannot be broken."

"For my enemy's redemption, the time is too late."

"For my enemy's redemption, the time is too late..."

"May they suffer the darkness of the strongest HATE."

"May they suffer the darkness of the strongest HATE."

Taking a deep breath in, you feel the words seared into your mind forever. Ms. Toriel took a shaky breath in, breaking eye contact. Chara looked shaken themselves, eyes wider than you'd ever seen them.

You felt powerful. More powerful than ever before. The two royalties looked on as you rolled the words around in your head.

Chara cleared their throat, clearly uncomfortable with the exchange of forbidden words. "(N-N/N), we should get going. Your parents will be worried..."

Getting up, you helped Ms. Toriel stand while thanking her saying, "I never knew there was such a powerful spell. Thank you. I'll use it wisely, I swear..."

Walking out of the flower shop, you and Chara chatted a little bit. But there was an aura of tension in the air, a feeling of discomfort that hovered over the friends.

In the distance, a single raven cawed.
