the room was alive with the hum of conversations, the soft clink of glasses, and the laughter that filled the air like music. it was one of those events that felt almost surrealโ€”bright lights, expensive suits, and people you barely knew, all wrapped up in a whirlwind of smiles and polite chatter.

you hadn't really wanted to come, but here you were, trying to smile through the conversations that weren't quite as engaging as you'd hoped. despite the beauty of the event, the entire atmosphere made you feel like you were a bit out of place.

but then, through the sea of people, your eyes met his.

otoya eita.

he was standing across the room, talking to a few people you didn't recognize, his ever-present charming smile lighting up his face. but the moment you looked over at him, something in his gaze shifted.

his eyes locked onto yours. and for a split second, the noise of the room seemed to fade away. you could have sworn the crowd had dimmed, and it was just the two of you standing there. his smile deepened, just the smallest curve of his lips, and his eyes never left yours.

it was like he'd been watching you.

you tried to shake the feeling off, pretending to stay engaged with the conversation you were having. but you could still feel his gaze on youโ€”sharp, knowingโ€”like he was just waiting for you to turn around again.

and when you did?

he was still looking at you, his expression a mix of amusement and something far deeper, far more knowing.

you couldn't help it. the curiosity got the better of you.

you excused yourself from the conversation and made your way across the room, weaving through the crowd of people until you found yourself standing right in front of him.

"otoya," you said, voice playful but with a hint of something else, "are you just going to stare at me all night, or are you going to say something?"

his eyes sparkled as they met yours, and for a brief moment, there was a flicker of somethingโ€”a challenge, a gameโ€”in his gaze. he stepped a little closer, just close enough that you could feel the warmth of his presence, but not so close as to be intrusive.

"well, can you blame me?" he smirked, his voice low and teasing. his eyes ran over you for just a second, like he was appraising you, before he met your gaze again. "you do look... kind of irresistible tonight."

your breath caught for a split second, caught off guard by the boldness of his words. his smirk only deepened as he saw the surprise flicker across your face.

you swallowed, feeling a heat rise in your chest at the intensity of his gaze. "you're impossible," you said, though there was a smile tugging at the corners of your lips despite yourself.

"impossible?" otoya raised an eyebrow, leaning in slightly, his voice dropping to that smooth, melodic tone you knew all too well. "i think you mean irresistible."

you shook your head, trying to keep your composure, but there was something about the way he looked at you that made it feel like the world had narrowed down to just the two of you in this crowded room.

it wasn't just the teasing. it was the fact that he saw youโ€”really saw you. he had that ability to make you feel like you were the only person in the room, even in the middle of all this noise.

"alright, alright," you said, half-laughing and half-sighing, feeling your heart beat a little faster as his smile softened, and he stepped back slightly. "you got me. but don't get any ideas, otoya."

his smirk softened into something a little more genuine, his eyes glimmering with mischief. "no promises."

for a moment, neither of you said anything. the music swelled around you, the chatter of the room picking back up, but the connection lingered, just the two of you standing there, the energy between you undeniable.

and when he looked at you like that, as though he were both challenging and adoring you at the same time, you couldn't help but wonder just how much he was hiding behind that playful grin.

but whatever it wasโ€”he had a way of making it feel like you didn't need to know right now. you were just happy being here, with him.

"maybe we should get out of here," otoya said, his voice warm as he took a step closer again, just enough to make you feel the pull of him. "find somewhere quiet. just the two of us."

you hesitated for a moment, feeling that flutter in your chest again. it was dangerous. it was tempting. but there was something about being with him, just the two of you, that felt too good to resist.

you smiled, knowing there was no turning back now. "lead the way."

and with that, the world outside of the room seemed to blur. all you could focus on was himโ€”his teasing smile, the spark in his eyes, and the pull of his presence that made everything else disappear.

maybe you should have been more careful, but with otoya, you were already in too deep.
