- Winter Is Coming
Lyra had been stood in front of her closet for the last 2 hours, attempting to find a suitable dress to wear for the feast as she threw numerous articles of clothing from her full wardrobe. It wasn't like the blonde didn't have anything to wear, she had a vast array of dresses collected from all the dinners and celebrations that she was forced to attend with her family due to her parents status - but she didn't have any good enough for tonight.
Sighing, Lyra slammed the closet door closed before hitting her head against it in annoyance. In truth, Lyra hadn't even wanted to attend the feast for the royal family, but Catelyn had forced her as she didn't want to seen disrespectful with the absence of her daughter. Just as the blonde Stark was about to give up and wear one of her dresses her father had gotten her when a look of realisation came across her face.
Lyra rushed across her bedroom picking up the black box that her sister had left her earlier on as she placed it on her bed and slowly opened the box only a gasp escaped from her lips from what was inside. Lyra face contorted into awe as she picked up the dress that Sansa had made her. The dress was a luxurious, floor length evening dress with spaghetti straps that was bright red.
Lyra sighed heavily, as she put the dress on, loving the way it seemed to fit her body perfectly. Moving towards her floor length mirror, Lyra smiled at her reflection as her bright blonde hair was tied up in an elegant braid up-do, with curled pieces framing her face. She kept her makeup dark with a Smokey eye and a gold shimmering glitter that went perfectly with her dress and her bright bluish- purple eyes, which she matched with a light pink lipstick.
The dress fell elegantly, accentuating her curves and pale white skin that seemed to glow radiantly against the alluring red dress. Lyra felt amazing and couldn't help but phrase her younger sister who did an amazing job in creating such a beautiful dress. Luckily, the Stark girl had some silver heels that Lola had gifted her for her birthday the year before as it matched with the dress perfectly.
"You look so beautiful" Catelyn smiled at her daughter in awe and amazement as she came to a stop behind Lyra as she looked absolutely breathe taking and knew she would gain everyone's attention as soon as she walked into the great hall. "The king wants me to marry Khal Drogo, doesn't he? There's no way out of it" Lyra muttered in annoyance as she had seen the King look at both her and Sansa.
Catelyn held a sympathetic expression on her face as she stared at her daughter and reminded her, "Your father hasn't even said yes" Catelyn couldn't help but think that Lyra was the spitting image of her father but had her mothers wildness and unfortunately she and Ned will have to tell the blonde the truth before she left for the narrow sea. " He can't exactly say no, can he? And even if I don't marry Khal Drogo, The King would force me to marry Joffrey and I won't allow Sansa to go through that. You see how smitten she is with him and I know for a fact she won't make it out there with the Dothraki's.
"You'd have to leave home. Leave me" Catelyn spoke with a sad smile as Lyra immediately turned around, gripping her mothers hand in her own as the older women placed her free hand on her cheek, " we'd all have to leave eventually. It's our duty, I'm gonna make you and father proud and I'm gonna do everything I can in my power to come back to you all but I'm going to be okay, because I'm a Stark and I promise you I'm gonna do right by our name"
" I know you will. I spoke with Lola's father and he agreed that she could go with you. I don't want you to be alone especially surrounded by the targaryen's. Lola been your best friend since you were children" Catelyn smiled sadly, pressing a kiss to her cheek before escorting her down to the great hall that was already full swing with people scattered all over the place enjoying the welcome feast for the royal family.
When Lyra arrived at the welcome feast, the great hall was surrounded by people scattered all across the room but their eyes were drawn to her as she strutted through the entrance powerfully. Eric knew the moment that Lyra had arrived as his heart began to beat rapidly against his rib cage as his eyes locked on her stunning figure, he seemed to forget how to breathe and couldn't seem to tear his eyes away from her.
The blonde Stark girl beauty astonished him, each time he saw her it was enchanting as the first time they met when they were seven years old, and he could feel himself falling completely under her spell. Catelyn was immediately escorted towards the Queen side but before Eric would make his way over towards the blonde Robb beat him to it, " you look beautiful, sister" Robb spoke with a grin on his lips as he stared at his sister with his brows raised as it was clear she caught everyone's attention as soon as she walked into the room.
Lyra gasped with an offended expression on her face placing her hand against her chest as she playfully called out to Robb, "It that a compliment, I hear?" Robb rolled his eyes as he offered his arm out for his sister to take leading her towards the table he was sat by with Theon and Lola, " No, you're imagining things" Lyra smiled at Lola gratefully as she handed the blonde a goblet of wine to drink as she definitely needed it if she was going to get through tonight.
"Alright, so what's going on? You and father have been acting weirdly ever since the King arrived?" Robb curiously questioned as he sat next to his sister. Lyra groaned in frustration, closing her eyes as she burrowed herself further into the chair she was sat in, " can't we talk about something else? Like that girl over there who hasn't stopped staring at you since I've sat down" she pleaded causing Robb to snort in amusement knowing she was trying to change the subject.
"Nuh-uh, I wanna know what's going on. You've never been good at keeping secrets" Robb stated stubbornly as he drank from the goblet in his hand causing Lyra to roll her eyes, " King Robert wants either me or Sansa to marry Joffrey and the one who doesn't marry his son is sending them to the narrow sea to marry the Khal Drogo. Sansa is just a child and doesn't know any better and thinks that Joffrey is her Prince Charming"
Robb eyes widened in shock as he stared at his sister in disbelief, " Father can't be seriously taking this into consideration" Lyra sighed in frustration as she sent her brother a look and resorted, " Father had already agreed. I insisted on marrying Khal Drogo so Sansa doesn't have to. Listen to me, it's not going to be for long and I will do everything in my power to come back home to you and our family"
"Excuse me, My Lady" Lyra turned around as a handmaiden leaned down to whisper in her ear, " The Queen would like a word with you" Lyra nodded her head turning to look at Robb with an annoyed look on her face causing him to snort quietly as Lyra stood up making her way up the steps and curtsied deeply and stayed down until the Queen spoke as Lola waited for her Lady at the bottom of the steps.
"Hello"Cersei smiled narrowing her eyes dangerously at the blonde who stood back up as she looked her up and down admiring her beauty as she didn't look anything like Eddard Stark or Catelyn Stark, "You are a beauty. How old are you?" Lyra furrowed her brows not even the slightest intimidated by the Queen of the seven kingdoms, " Sixteen, Your Grace,"
"Have you bled yet?" Cersei curiously questioned causing Lyra eyes to widened as she chuckled slightly at the forward question glancing over at her mother as it wasn't something that many people had asked the blonde girl, "Yes, Your Grace" Lyra replied, placing a smile on her lips trying to hide how uncomfortable she felt with the question.
Cersei hummed with a smirk on her face as she took in the dress Lyra was currently wearing and curiously inquired, "And your dress, did you make it yourself?" Lyra shook her head in response as she looked down at the dress before gesturing towards her little sister that was sat with a couple of her friends, Robb and Arya, " No, my little sister did"
The Queen glanced over at Sansa before turning her attention back to Lyra and commented, " Such talent. Perhaps she could make something for me one day" Lyra smiled as she curtsied before turning around walking down the steps and towards Lola who was waiting for the blonde, " what was that all about?" Lyra shook her head letting out a sigh of frustration and muttered, " nothing that is worth repeating. I want to go dance"
"You can't dance alone" Lola exclaimed with her eyes wide in shock glancing at Lyra who just smiled taking her best friend hand and told her, " I won't be alone. Lola, come dance with me. Take off your shoes. Come on. Dance with me. Take off your shoes" The two girls started giggling taking off their shoes, holding hands as they rushed onto the dance floor laughing widely as they spun around in circles while everyone looked at the girls in amusement apart from Queen Cersei who looked unimpressed with the girls behaviour.
Some people laughed, clapping along and even joining the girls dancing. Lyra was spinning around in the centre of the room with Lola with a bright smile on her face when she suddenly stopped when her eyes met Eric's blue ones. Lyra was Eric's escape, everything that he could if possibly wanted as he gazed at her with a longing look on his face only to snap back into reality when feathers begin to fall from the ceiling, reminding both him and Lola when they were children, jumping on a bed together with feathers scattered all around the room.
A bright smile appeared on Lyra's lips at the memory but when their eyes met once again, it felt like it was only the two of them in the room. Benjen Stark who was stood with Robb and Eddard couldn't help but think about his sister when he looked at Lyra as she acted just like her with her wildness and her need to live her life to the fullest. Benjen who was watching his niece dance with Eric with a look of adoration and love in her eyes and couldn't help but think how good they looked together, "they look so happy together" Benjen commented with a small smile on his face noticing how carefree the two were together.
Eddard hummed with a nod of his head glancing towards his daughter with a sad smile on his lips knowing how much Eric meant to her and soon enough their family will be split apart because of the royal family and just hoped that Lyra would understand he was only doing this to protect her and keep his promise to his sister about protecting Lyanna and Rhaegar's daughter knowing if anybody found out they would kill her because of the blood that ruins through her veins.
