five: vision

WHEN THE ENHANCED AND THE SUPER SOLDIER GOT TO THE AVENGERS TOWER, THEY SAW EXACTLY WHAT THEY EXPECTED. Bruce was checking the Cradle Ultron's body was in, adjusting some settings, while Tony stood by, ready to upload something.

Steve's loud boots echoed in the air as he stepped up, Elaine, Pietro, and Wanda behind him. "I'm going to say this once."

"How about nonce?" Tony interjected, but Steve paid no attention to the billionaire.

"Shut it down!" Steve ordered as the triplets cautiously looked around. Elaine and Wanda were more on edge, already feeling the horrible energy from being near the body.

"Nope." Tony finalized, stepping away from his computer. "Not gonna happen."

"You don't know what you're doing." Steve tried to reason. Elaine tightly clutched Pietro's arm, trying to find a sense of comfort.

Bruce stood straight from his hunched position. "And you do?" He then pointed to Elaine and Wanda. "They're not in your head?"

A pit of guilt formed in Elaine's stomach while Wanda stepped next to Steve. "I know you're angry—"

Bruce scoffed. "Oh, we're way past that. I could choke the life out of you and your sister and never change a shade."

"Banner," Steve said, stepping forwards. "after everything that's happened—"

"It's nothing compared to what's coming!" Tony snapped.

Elaine finally spoke up. "You don't know what's in there!"

"This isn't a game." Steve stated. Suddenly, a gust of wind blew by everyone as Pietro used his speed to unplug the tubes from the Cradle the body was in.

Bruce stared wide eyed at the plug that was needed to keep the body alive that was now in Pietro's hand. Wires sparked on the floors from the plugs Pietro ripped from the walls.

"No, no. Go on." Pietro sarcastically said, throwing the plug in his hand to the floor. "You were saying?"

A gunshot suddenly ran through the air before the glass underneath their brother shattered, dropping him to the floor below. "Pietro!" Elaine and Wanda shouted, stepping forwards.

"What?" Clint's taunting voice sounded through. "You didn't see that coming?"

A beeping sound began bouncing off the walls before Tony stated. "I'm rerouting the upload."

Steve took his shield and used it like a frisbee, having it cut directly into computers, sending bright sparks flying.

Tony's Iron Man hand suddenly latched onto him and he blasted Steve backwards. Elaine and Wanda immediately moved their hands, creating their mists of powers before they both got trapped in headlocks, their concentration breaking.

"Go ahead, piss me off." Bruce deeply warned from behind them.

As Clint and Tony began fighting Steve, Elaine created a ball of energy and shoved it through her abdomen, forcing Bruce off of them. Wanda turned around, blasting him away.

Elaine suddenly felt an energetic pull, and when she turned around, she came face to face with Thor. Wanda paused her attack on Bruce, turning around and also feeling the pull, but not as strong as Elaine. Everyone watched as Thor jumped onto the box Ultron's body was in and he jolted Mjölnir upwards, taking power from the electricity in the room and from Elaine, who was feeling weaker by the second.

When Thor's hammer was brightly beaming and filled with his thunder, he slammed it down onto the Cradle.

Bruce ran forwards, but he was no match to the God. "Wait!"

Elaine and Wanda's hair began blowing back, watching until Thor finally pulled his hammer away. The Cradle suddenly exploded, sending Thor flying back while Elaine brought her arm up to instinctively shield her face as she crouched and turned away. White fog seeped through the broken Cradle as the body of Ultron came to life, staying in a squatting position with its hands on the floor.

Everyone stood straight again as the body began to slowly stand. Elaine and Wanda kept their eyes narrowed on it as it looked around, finally locking eyes with Thor.

It suddenly flew straight at the God of Thunder, who easily dodged the attack and flung the body straight forwards, having it go through glass and all the way to the windows looking out to the city. The body stopped itself, looking outside as if it were in a trance.

Steve got his shield and jumped down to Thor's level, ready to attack until the God held up a quiet hand, silently stopping him.

The body reached a single hand forward, just inches away from the glass. It was the exact thing Elaine did when she worked for HYDRA and was still an experiment. But then again, her and her siblings powers came from the thing on the body's forehead.

Everyone gathered around as the body's color became grey from the neck down, but keeping its hands a vibrant red. It landed on the floor as Pietro smoothly sped in front of his sisters.

"I am sorry." It spoke for the first time, apologizing. "That was..." It turned to Thor. "odd. Thank you." The body suddenly grew a gold cape, something that Elaine didn't understand.

Was it becoming more of its true self?

"Thor." Steve stated, subtle anger and betrayal laced in his words. "You helped create this?"

"I've had a vision." Thor began. "A whirlpool that suck in all hope of life, and its centre at that." Thor pointed to the yellow glowing stone in the forehead of the body.

      "What? The gem?" Bruce questioned.

"It's the mind stone." Thor clarified. "It's one of the six Infinity Stones. The greatest power in the universe, unparalleled in its destructive capabilities."

"Then why would you bring—" Steve began to counter.

"Because Stark is right." Thor interrupted.

"Oh, it's definitely the end times." Bruce humorously drawled out.

Thor continued. "The Avengers cannot defeat Ultron."

"Not alone." It spoke again, stepping forwards.

"Why does your vision sound like Jarvis?" Steve asked.

"We configured Jarvis' matrix to create something new." Tony explained, stepped forwards as the Vision walked around so he could get a better look at his creation.

Steve muttered. "I think I've had my fill of new."

"You think I'm a child of Ultron." Vision stated, now standing where Tony once was. Elaine still didn't like this thing.

      "You're not?" Steve inquired.

Vision shook his head. "I'm not Ultron. I am not Jarvis. I am... I am."

Elaine stepped forwards, her hair lying neatly against her back. "I looked in your head and saw annihilation."

      "Look again." Vision gently offered.

Clint sarcastically chuckled as he stepped towards them. "Her seal of approval means jack to me."

"Their powers, the horrors in our heads, Ultron himself, they all came from the Mind Stone." Thor told them. "And they're nothing compared to what it can unleash. But with It on our side..."

"Is it?" Steve interjected before turning his head to Vision. "Are you? On our side?"

Vision looked down, almost as if he were thinking. "I don't think it's that simple."

"Well it better get real simple real soon." Clint sassed.

"I am on the side of life." Vision finally said. "Ultron isn't. He will end it all."

Tony asked. "What's he waiting for?"

"You." Vision simply stated. Elaine figured it would be Tony. All Ultron wants is to see the Avengers extinct. Killing Tony Stark would kill them all.

      "Where?" Bruce asked.

"Sokovia." Clint answered for Vision. "He's got Nat there too.

"If we're wrong about you, if you're the monster that Ultron made you to be..." Bruce trailed off.

"What will you do?" Vision asked before he looked at them all, realizing they will destroy him. "I don't want to kill Ultron. He's unique, and he's in pain. But that pain will roll over the earth, so he must be destroyed. Every form he's built, every trace of his presence on the net, we have to act now. And not one of us can do it without the others. Maybe I am a monster. I don't think I'd know if I were one. I'm not what you are, and not what you intended. So there may be no way to make you trust me. But we need to go."

Vision suddenly held up Thor's hammer and handed it to him before he walked off and everyone stared in shock. There were a lot of open mouths, everyone just staring at Thor. There was a long moment of awkward silence, even Elaine felt awkward just being there.

"Right." Thor said, tapping his hammer and few times before patting Tony on the shoulder. "Well done."

"Three minutes." Steve stated. "Get what you need."
