Witch!Seokjin x Spirit!Jimin
This is a prequel to the Yoonjin one-shot, Magic Shop. This is about how Jimin ended up with Seokjin.
OutOfTheBook you got your wish, here you go :)
My day started off normal. As usual.
I ate my breakfast, went to work at the restaurant near my house, returned home in the evening, then went out for a walk.
I usually went to the forest near my house, for the air was refreshing, and the atmosphere was peaceful and calm. How I loved listening to the melodious chirping of the birds and feeling the breeze blow gently.
I was in that same forest at the moment. But something was off.
The place was eerily silent, save for the howling mistral and the crunching of leaves underneath my boots. The sky appeared a bit darker than usual, and the weather seemed to be a bit chilly.
I looked around and shivered, not because of the cold, but because I felt as if I were being followed.
Suddenly, I heard a THUMP! Then, I heard the sound of rustling coming from the brambles behind me.
I was definitely suspicious, and almost a hundred percent sure I was being followed. My breath quickened as I turned around to face whatever was behind me.
Someone was indeed following me. It was a large man with horns, a tail and a devilish grin.
A demon.
"Perfect," he said in a low and distorted voice as he approached me.
Just as I was about to run away, I felt an invisible force pinning me to a large tree.
"Thought you could try and escape, hmmm?" he drawled.
He slowly walked towards me and unscrewed a tiny glass bottle. He then began to chant in a strange language.
I suddenly began to feel as light as a feather. I felt as if I were floating, dissociated from reality and out of my own body.
"What a-a-are you d-doing?" I stammered with the very little strength I had left.
The demon didn't respond. He simply chuckled.
Soon, I lost consciousness.
*
"Ah, you're awake, little spirit!"
I looked around in panic. I was trapped in the vial.
The demon I met in the forest was standing right in front of me, grinning wickedly.
"What have you done to me?" I yelled, pounding on the glass walls that encased me.
"I'm hungry. I need to eat your soul to survive, young spirit. The name's Hoseok, by the way." said the demon.
"You could have directly swallowed me instead of wasting your time by keeping me trapped in a vial." I spat.
"Spirits like you need to be stripped of their ability to have emotions before I eat them. I don't like eating whiny spirits, they taste disgusting."
"Please don't do that, just let me go! I don't want to end up this way!"
"I'm hungry! I refuse to set you free!"
I had never been so terrified of anyone before. I had met a lot of angry and scary people in the past, but the sight of the angry demon was terrifying enough to bring tears to my eyes.
I let out a wail, a loud one. I had never felt so scared in my life.
"Oh, please. Not the emotional blackmail." scoffed the demon, making me cry even more.
I continued to sob and sob until the demon sighed and grabbed the vial in which I was trapped.
"Where are you t-taking me?" I sniffled.
"I'm taking you to Namjoon, another demon. I'll let him eat you since you whine too much!" snapped the demon.
*
"Hoseok-hyung! Long time no see!" said another demon, flashing a dimpled smile.
"Yeah, it's been a while," said Hoseok, "Now, take this vial and eat him!"
"You're giving me your food?"
"Yeah! I've never had to deal with a spirit that whines and cries so much."
"You can't blame him, hyung. Spirits feel strong emotions, and you know very well why!"
"Yeah, yeah. A human's truest and strongest emotions are felt by the spirit. The body is like a shield, hiding away the emotions that the spirit feels. We all learnt that nonsense in demon school! Now, do as you please with the spirit, Namjoon-ah. I'm off! Enjoy your meal!" said Hoseok before disappearing in a cloud of smoke.
"Don't worry, hyung. I know just what to do with him." said Namjoon, smirking at me through the glass.
I whimpered, burying my face in my hands.
Namjoon looked around and sniffed the air. Then, he peered at me through the glass.
"The coast is clear. Let's get you out of here." he said.
I had never been so grateful.
"Oh, thank you so much!" I cried.
"You're welcome, kid. It isn't everyday you come across a nice demon like me."
"Had I stayed with Hoseok, I would have been stripped of my emotions and eaten."
"Yes. Now, I will take you to Seokjin-hyung's place."
"Who is he?"
"He's a witch in need of a familiar. You seem like a perfect companion."
"Does that mean I'll transform into an animal?"
"Not necessarily."
"I thought all familiars are animals."
"Like I said, it isn't necessary for a familiar to be an animal."
Namjoon muttered in a strange language under his breath.
In an instant, we found ourselves in a cosy-looking room.
"Namjoon-ah? What brings you here?"
A man wearing red robes strode into the room.
He must be Seokjin-hyung, I thought.
Namjoon held up the vial in which I was contained. I stared up at Seokjin in suspicion, hoping that he wouldn't hurt me like Hoseok did.
"Hey, I get that you're a bit suspicious, but please do trust me, I'm not a bad person. I'm just a witch in need of a companion.
I thought for a moment about Seokjin. He seemed like a nice guy, and he wasn't a soul-eating demon.
He was just a lonely guy in need of a friend, and so was I.
"Can you let me out first?" I asked.
Seokjin nodded, pulling out the cork from the opening of the vial. "Now, you're free." he said.
I emerged from the vial, still tiny enough to be held in a person's palm.
"How am I still small?" I asked.
"Young spirit, since you have recently been separated from your body, you might not be aware of what you're capable of." said Seokjin.
"What am I capable of doing in spirit form?"
"I will guide you as time goes by."
I was willing to be guided, but I wanted my old life back. I wanted to be human again.
"Seokjin-ssi, I was wondering if you could put me back in my body. I really need to go back home." I said.
"I'm so sorry, young spirit. That kind of a spell is irreversible. Not even the most powerful of witches, demons or warlocks can perform such a task. Consider yourself a spirit forever."
I was devastated as those words replayed in my head. A teardrop escaped my eye.
"I wanna go home," I sobbed.
"I know," said Seokjin, "I'm sorry, I can't bring you back. I promise I will make it up to you by teaching you how to adjust to your new form."
I sniffled and wiped away my tears. Since I was forced to be a spirit forever, I had no choice but to deal with it.
"All I can do is to make you comfortable and happy, and to guide you about the life of spirits. You are more powerful than you think you are, so I need to teach you how to control your powers. May I know your name, young spirit?"
"My name is Jimin, Seokjin-ssi."
"Well, it's nice to meet you, Jimin-ssi. Now, our training session will begin. You're tiny at the moment, am I correct?"
"Duh!"
Seokjin laughed. "Yes, now I want you to picture yourself growing back to your original height. Just picture it, don't let other thoughts distract you."
It was fairly simple. Having learnt a bit about meditation, I could imagine myself growing, returning to my original height. I closed my eyes, allowing the change to take place.
"Good job!" praised Seokjin.
I opened my eyes, noticing that I was now back to normal.
"I did it!" I cheered.
"Not bad, for a first-timer," said Seokjin, "But there's more to learn!"
I groaned.
*
"You're adjusting to your spirit form quite well, Jimin-ah." praised Seokjin.
I giggled and blushed.
"You're adorable, aren't you?" he cooed, reaching out to pinch my cheeks.
I screeched, flying away and shrinking in size to make myself fit through the opening of my glass vial.
"Come on, Jimin-ah! I know you're in your usual hiding place! You can't escape!" hollered Seokjin.
I sat inside my vial and face-palmed at my own predictability.
"Jimin-ah, if you don't come out of your vial, I won't prepare my special bulgogi for you!" he said.
I gasped. Not bothering to grow back to my normal height, I flew out of the vial and landed on Seokjin-hyung's palm.
"There you are, Minnie!" he cooed.
I giggled at the nickname.
"Let's have lunch, Minnie." he said, carrying me to the dining table.
