"Oh, who is she?
A misty MEMORY
A haunting face
Is she a lost EMBRACE?"

-who is she, i monster

"she's not dead." derek insisted.

"derek, he said, 'there's a dead body. it's erica'. doesn't exactly leave us much room for interpretation." stiles said

"then who was in the vault with boyd?"

"someone else, obviously."

"and maybe it was the girl on the motorcycle. the one who saved you?" scott looked over to isaac who was still sitting on the counter next to sasha.

"no she wasn't like us." isaac said. "and whoever was in the vault with boyd was."

"what if that's how erica died? they put them against each other during the full moons and see which one survies." stiles suggested "it's like werewolf thunder dome."

"but boyd wouldn't do that. not to erica anyway. full moon or not." sasha shook her head, not wanting to believe it.

"he might've." scott said. "we don't know how long they've been in there or what the alphas are doing to them."

"we have to get them out tonight." derek said.

"be smart about this derek." deaton said. "you can't just go storming in."

"if isaac got in then so can we."

"but he didn't get through a vault door did he?"

"we need a plan." scott stepped forward.

"how are we gonna come up with a plan to break into a bank vault in less than 24 hours?" derek asked

"uh i think someone already did." stiles held up his phone and began reading from it. "'beacon hills first national closed its doors three months after vault robbery.' doesn't say here how it was robbed, but it probably won't take long to find out."

"how long?" derek asked

"it's the internet derek." stiles scoffed. "okay? minutes."

‒───────‒°‒❀‒°‒───────‒

the next night, the night of the full moon, everyone was at "dereks" new lair. stiles opened the blue prints onto the table and everyone gathered around "okay. you see this? this is how they got it. it's a rooftop air conditioning vent. lead down inside into the wall of the vault which is here. okay?" stiles drew a red circle around the room. "one of the robbers was lowered into this shaft. now that space is so small it took him about twelve hours to drill into that wall, which is stone by the way. then throughout the rest of the night, they siphoned the cash up to the guys back on the roof through that one little shady in the wall. boom."

"can we fit in there?" scott asked

"yes we can but very very barely. and they also patched the wall, obviously, so we're gonna need a drill of some kind. i'm thinking maybe a diamond bit-"

"look forget the drill." derek said

"sorry?"

"if i go in first how much space do i have?"

stiles looked around in shock. "what do you think you're gonna do derek? you gonna punch through the wall?"

"yes stiles, i'm gonna punch through the wall."

"okay big guy, let's see it. let's see that fist. big, old fist. make it, come on. get it out there. don't be scared. big bad wolf. yeah look at that." derek raised his fist slowly. stiles held is hand out in front of dereks, a few inches out. "you see this? that's maybe three inches of room to gather enough force to punch through solid-"

stiles fell back, hitting the table as derek punched his hand. "aah! he could do it."

"i'll get through the wall. who's following me down?" derek scanned the group.

"don't look at me." peter said, sitting on the stairs. "i'm not up to fighting speed yet, and honestly with isaac out of commission you're not looking at very good odds for yourself."

"so i'm supposed to just let them die?"

"one of them is already dead." peter said plainly

"we don't know that." derek growled

"do i have to remind you what we're up against here? a pack of alphas. all of them killers. and if that's not enough to scare your testicles back into your stomach, try to remember that two of them combine bodies to form one giant alpha."

"okay thanks for that imagery, anything else?" sasha yelled at her uncle.

peter sighed, "i'm sure erica and boyd were sweet kids. they're gonna be missed."

"can someone kill him again please?" stiles said.

"derek. seriously. not worth the risk." peter said folding his arms.

"what about you?" derek looked towards the two teenage boys.

"yeah if you want me to come-" stiles began

"not you!"

"scott." stiles nodded towards the other boy.

"i don't know about erica. but if boyd's still alive we have to do something. we have to try." scott looked around

"but?" derek asked, knowing that there was more.

"who's the other girl? the one locked in there with boyd?"

"i don't know." sasha said, standing up from her perch in the window. "but im going to find out."

"no." derek said plainly.

"what?" sasha yelled at him.

"you're not coming."

"uh yeah i am."

"no you're not."

"yes i am! derek if you think im going to sit here while yous go and try save boyd and maybe erica from whoever hurt isaac then you clearly don't know me. im going."

derek bite his lip, thinking of a solid argument to make. he couldn't think of one. "fine." he said reluctantly. "but if you get hurt you can't blame me."

"wasn't planning on it." sasha smiled.

‒───────‒°‒❀‒°‒───────‒

scott looked nervously towards the two bales as they stood outside the bank. "what?" derek asked him.

"there's just something i can't get out of my head." scott said

"the moons rising scott, what is it?"

"risk and reward."

"what?" sasha looked at him confused

"we're not measuring the risk with enough information. we don't know enough."

"we know times running out." derek said

"yeah but think about it. they put the triskele on your door four months ago. what have they been doing all this time? why wait until now?"

"we don't have the time to figure out every little detail."

"but what if this detail, the reason why they waited, what if it's the most important one?"

"then we do nothing."

"he's right. we need to do something or boyd and erica are already both dead." sasha said

"i know what i'm risking" derek stated. "my life for theirs." derek said before jumping up onto the window, then to the fore escape. "and i won't blame yous if you don't follow me."

sasha sighed before jumping up and following her cousin, closely followed my scott.

‒───────‒°‒❀‒°‒───────‒

scott and sasha followed derek into the vault through the hole he was after punching "boyd?" derek called out to the tall dark figure.

boyd turned around to face the three, growling. "boyd?" sasha spoke. "it's us okay? it sasha and derek.

scott phone began buzzing. he quickly picked it up. "stiles now is not the best time."

"scott! scott!" stiles shouted through the phone. "no listen to me okay? look you gotta get out of there. the walls of the vault are made with a mineral called hecatolite. it scatters the moonlight.."

"what does that mean?" scott asked stiles.

"we're here to get you out okay?" derek spoke to boyd.

"look it keeps the moonlight out okay? they haven't felt the full moon in months."

"think of it like the gladiators in the Roman Colosseum." peter said. "they used to starve the lions for three days, making them more vicious more out of control. deucalion had kept them from shifting for three full moons, diminishing their tolerance to it."

"scott they're gonna be stronger..."

"more savage, more bloodthirsty. scott they're the lions. they're the starved lion and you, derek and sasha just stepped into the colosseum."

"derek..." sasha warned her cousin after hearing the phone call. "we've got a problem. like a really big problem."

derek spun his head back to boyd as another girl stepped out from behind him. a strange scent filled sashas nose. a scent she hadn't smelt since she was a kid. a kid running around a huge house with her cousins playing hide and seek.

"cora?" derek spoke

"who?" scott asked

"cora..." sasha said.

"sasha. derek." the girl spoke. "get out! get out now!"

the vault door opened and a woman stepped in, sprinkling mountain ash down, connecting the line that ran round the whole vault. "no wait!" scott yelled. boyd and cora roared and charged.

‒───────‒°‒❀‒°‒───────‒

the fight seemed to go on forever. as soon as one of them fell to the floor, the other got up and began fighting.

"you know her?" scott asked sasha, looking over to derek who was fighting cora after pushing boyd to the ground.

"she's dereks younger sister..." sasha panted. "but...but she was meant to be dead!"

"look out!" allison yelled, appearing at the vault door. sasha ducked out of the way but boyd picked up scott and through him against the wall.

sasha ran forward, kicking boyd in the back, causing him to fall to the ground. he quickly got up, marching towards sasha who swung at him but boyd dodged every time. he swiped his claws across sasha stomach, sending blood spilling out.

scott yelled and ran up to the two, punching boyd, dragging his attention away from the girl. boyd however was too strong. he threw scott up against the wall and dug his nails into his stomach, lifting him up.

"no don't break the seal!" derek yelled, causing sasha to look over at allison who was bending down at the door, hands hovering over the mountain ash. she looked between the three, derek fighting cora, barely holding her off, sasha who was leaning against the wall, wrapping her shirt around her stomach to stop the bleeding, and scott who was yelling in pain as boyd twisted his claws further into his stomach.

"boyd!" allison yelled and broke the line. boyd let go of scott, then running out the vault door with cora.

derek ran forward, grabbing allisons arm. "don't touch her!" scott growled, him and sasha limping over to the door.

"what we're you thinking?" derek yelled, letting go of allison.

"that i had to do something." allison cried

"she saved our lives." scott said. derek looked over to scott, who had blood running out of his mouth while clutching his stomach and sasha who was panting heavily, blood spreading around her chest and stomach turning her top red.

"what do you think they're gonna do out there?" derek yelled. "do you have any idea what we just set free?"

"you want to blame me?" allison shouted. "well i am not the one turning teenagers into killers."

"no. no, that's just the rest of your family."

"i've made mistakes. gerard is not my fault."

"and what about your mother?"

"wha do you mean?" allison asked. derek looked back at scott, "tell her scott."

"what does he mean scott?" allison looked to scott. "what does he mean?"

i think i figured out what i'm gonna do at the end of this book and i'm scared
