"No, I swear it was not him or any of his men. In fact, it was nobody associated with the cartel. I'm afraid it might have something to do with Sofia it sounds insane but it makes sense. However, I will need more proof to ensure that." Estella muttered tapping her fingers against the coffee table. Ana was astonished by this ridiculous assumption and thought it was strange to be accusing her own sister of such a terrible crime.
"What are you talking about? Sofia might be in a relationship with Rafa, but she would never kill anyone." Ana laughed thinking maybe Estella was joking to lighten up the mood but she came to a realization she wasn't by the expression on her best friend's face.
"She would if she saw me getting hurt. At the time Jackson was attacking me outside of the gallery. The pictures didn't show that side, so it makes it seem like Miguel รngel or his men could have done it but it wasn't. It was somebody from a distance, and Sofia would always defend me." Estella leaned back into the chair and stared at Ana.
"ยฟSegura que fue Sofรญa?" Ana wasn't convinced what to believe and Sofia killing someone wasn't plausible. The girl was rebellious but never wild enough to shoot and kill someone for that matter.
"No, necesito mรกs pruebas." Estella got up from her seat and put back on her black coat. She needed to see if her information was possibly true and knew that Sofia could end up doing something crazy like running away with Rafa like some clichรฉ film.
"Keep in contact with me please Estella. As your best friend, I deserve to know what you're getting yourself into." Ana said to Estella causing her to feel happy that she wanted to keep their friendship.
"I will but I should leave now. I think I have some important information." Estella hugged Ana and soon walked out of the house to the black car where the driver waited patiently.
"Where now?" The driver asked once again peeking at her through the rearview mirror.
"Uh this might sound very strange, but I need to go to a church. It's important for me to do so before I return back home." Estella saw the driver's face turn into an expression of confusion but nodded his head.
"Okay."
Estella was nervous thinking of what Miguel รngel had said earlier. Rafa would need to run away far from the authorities and for some reason, she didn't see him doing so without Sofia. This shockingly was starting to seem like an actual Bonnie and Clyde film in real life. Sofia had to be the one who shot Jackson that day but Estella needed confirmation first. Like Ana had said her mother must have taken Sofia to church and she needed to go there before anything went on.
"There! Stop there please." Estella pointed to her mother's familiar car which didn't seem to be too far from the church except the car was parked and appeared to only carry her mother inside no hint of Sofia anywhere.
"Is everything okay Ms. Conesa. Will I need to notify Fรฉlix?" The driver questioned, but she rapidly got out of the car ignoring his question. Estella slowly walked to the car hearing her mother sobbing against the steering wheel of the car. She looked around hoping nobody would be out to see her and when she didn't see anyone around she approached her mother's car.
"Mother," Estella said seeing her mom gasp in awe. The older woman almost jumped out of the car to embrace her oldest daughter but instead carefully got out and hugged her. Estella didn't like how controlling her mother had been in the past but of course, loved her so much and hugged her back.
"I don't have much time. Where is Sofia?" Estella felt awful for breaking their time apart but knew that Sofia was probably in trouble. Her mother sniffled and rubbed her temples in distress.
"That narco took her again. It seemed like it was a planned kidnapping once again but I don't know I think this time he might take her somewhere farther." Her mother began to cry once again, and Estella hugged her to comfort her but thought these circumstances her mother had described were unusual.
"It's okay mom I will find her. And I don't have time to talk to you but to be quick I miss you and dad and I'm completely fine now please I beg you to go back home. Sofia will be okay." Estella gave her mother a consoling smile and hugged her one last time. She helped her into her car and watched her mother drive off and felt sad doing so but knew she had to be serious now.
"I'm sorry to disrupt you, but it seems like patrรณn has ordered for me to drive you back to him. He says it's very important and is an emergency." The driver informed Estella as she stepped back into the car.
"What do you mean emergency? Is it that bad I think I need to figure this out first? I need to find where Rafa could be flying off my younger sister." Estella glared at the driver who seemed deterred by her tone of voice.
"He didn't give too much information but said it's crucial you do so. And it seems like your sister and Rafa have already taken off to Costa Rica. You were too late I'm sorry." The driver confirmed causing Estella to nearly have a panic attack. Her sister had run off with Rafa to Costa Rica which was an entirely different country. And now she was being notified that she had to be driven back to Miguel รngel for no apparent reason at all.
During the entire drive, Estella was anxious which was a never-ending cycle throughout her time in the cartel. She was becoming accustomed to the constant paranoia and uncertainty but this time her sister was involved and she hated that.
Once she was dropped off where she needed to be dropped off she saw Miguel รngel nervously approach her his hands on his hips. He seemed to be uneasy himself to tell Estella what was going to happen and his suggestion to tip off the police on the location of Rafa and Sofia.
"Estella." He hugged her and despite her troubles, Estella chose to hug him back.
"What the hell is happening? Why is my damn sister running off with Rafa to fucking Costa Rica?!" Estella loudly asked once they made their way inside the house. Before Miguel could answer Neto ran down the stairs with a pillow in his hands him being very worried too.
"I fucking told you. I know this would happen! God damn it! But you wouldn't listen! You don't listen! I'm getting the fuck out of here! I recommend you and your little girlfriend do the same." Neto shouted shoving things into suitcases. Miguel glanced at Estella who was completely confused and let go of her hand to calm Neto down.
"There's a way this can end." Miguel รngel looked at Neto who ignored him and continued to shove things into suitcases. "Neto!" Miguel รngel shouted once again earning his attention this time. Estella stared at Miguel wondering what he meant by "ending this all" but had an idea of what he meant.
"Relax Neto and you too Estella." Miguel รngel said looking at the two nervous people. Estella shook her head and paced around the room. Her sister was in Costa Rica, and Rafa had fucked up big time. Certainly, they would be going to complete shit now.
"I figured out a way to make this all go away." He proceeded walking up to Estella to stop her anxious pacing. She stared at him her eyes glistening with fear. She knew what this meant but didn't know if it would be the right decision to make especially now that her sister was entangled in all of this and could be guilty of the death of Jackson. The last thing she needed to see was her sister in a jail cell.
"Miguel รngel what are you talking about?" Estella whimpered her voice being shaky. Miguel glanced at Neto who seemed to be feeling unsettled like Estella. He stared at the two mainly at Estella knowing this decision could be a complicated one to make.
"I think you already know but please let me explain. Sit Estella and Neto if you can." He pointed to the sofa, and Estella nodded her head sitting an appropriate space away from Neto. Miguel looked at Estella and back at Neto to get prepared for what he needed to say.
"We need to give Rafa's location to the police."
