Meilani, Stiles, Scott, Kira and Lydia all sat around in Noah's darkened office with Rafe and Noah. Noah was sat in the chair behind his desk while Rafe leant across the front of the desk with his arms crossed and Meilani got flashbacks to when he used to sit like that whenever her or Scott were in trouble. Much like right now because he was anything but pleased that his twins were in the same place as Barrow. Not like Meilani could even tell him why because he doesn't know about the supernatural and neither does Kira.
"So, when did you get there?"
"At the same time," Stiles responded and Meilani had to roll her lips into her mouth to stop herself from laughing, burying herself further into Stiles' side and holding onto the hand that hung limply under her chin.
Rafe shot Stiles an unamused glance to which Stiles merely grinned at and his eyes shifted to Meilani. "MeMe, help me out here."
Meilani fought the urge to roll her eyes at her father and absentmindedly played with Stiles' hand. "At the same time as me."
"By coincidence?"
"What do you mean by coincidence?" Stiles questioned, not understanding where exactly Rafe was trying to go with this.
"That's what I'm asking you. The two of you show up at the same time. Is that a coincidence?"
Meilani furrowed her eyebrows and flickered her eyes over to her father, feeling his intense gaze on her. "What? Are you asking me?"
"I think he's asking me," Stiles replied.
"I think he's asking the both of you," Lydia chimed in, crossing one leg over the other on the other couch that she was sat on with Scott and Kira.
"Okay, let me answer the questions," Rafe huffed and paused when he realized his mistake in wording. He narrowed his gaze at Meilani and Scott to wipe the amused smirks off their faces and sighed. "Let me ask the questions."
Stiles winked and pointed at Rafe to show him that he got it right that time and Meilani giggled quietly, whacking her boyfriend's chest lightly to knock it off. She really didn't feel like getting a Rafe lecture tonight, thank you very much.
"Just so I have this absolutely clear. Barrow was hiding in the chemistry closet at the school. Someone left him a coded message on the blackboard to kill Kira. Then Barrow took Kira to a power substation and tied her up with the intent of electrocuting her, which blacked out the entire town."
"Sounds about right," Scott said, fiddling with the end of his jacket as he felt like a small child being chastised for having his hand in the cookie jar.
Rafe's eyes flickered over to Stiles and it was obvious he hadn't believed a word they had said all night. Something that didn't necessarily shock Meilani because he wasn't exactly father or man of the year. "How did you know he'd take her to a power substation, Stiles?"
Stiles scratched the side of his head and Meilani could already hear the sarcasm in his voice before he even spoke. "Well, 'cause he was an an electrical engineer. Where else would he have taken Kira?"
Rafe seemed momentarily surprised that Stiles had come to a conclusion like that and considered the Stilinski's boys words for a moment. "That's one hell of a deduction there, Stiles."
"Yeah, what can I say? I take after my pops. He's in law enforcement," Stiles answered proudly, winking at his dad and pointing at him.
Meilani and Noah both snorted at the action and quickly sobered up when Rafe shot them a glare to stay focused on the true task at hand right now. Not like Rafe would get much more out of Meilani and her friends because he didn't know about the supernatural and Meilani didn't necessarily care enough to give him any more than he actually needs.
"Stiles, just, uh... just answer the man," Noah coughed to cover up the laughter that still bubbled in his chest.
"We made a good guess."
Rafe rolled his eyes and his gaze bounced between his twins and Kira suspiciously. "Okay, and what were the three of you doing?"
"Eating pizza."
"Eating sushi."
Scott and Kira exchanged a look with each other, wondering why the other said the opposite thing. Neither one of them were technically wrong, but with how they had just responded, it made them seem like liars to Rafe who hadn't been at Yukimura household.
"Eating sushi and pizza," Scott and Kira said in unison this time.
"Stilinski, you believe any of this?" Rafe asked, turning to Noah in frustration.
"To be honest, I haven't believed a word Stiles has said since he learned how to talk. I think these kids found themselves in the right place at the right time and that girl sitting there is very lucky for it," Noah responded, motioning to Kira who sat awkwardly next to Scott.
"Kira, is that how you remember it?" Rafe inquired, turning to the Yukimura girl who tensed up at being called out on.
Kira glanced around the room at her new friends and their expectant gazes for her to say the one word that could let them all go home. "Yes. Could I get my phone back now?"
"Sorry, but no. We still need it as evidence," Rafe apologized and pushed off from the desk, signaling that they were done for the night. He lead the teens out of the room and handed Kira's phone off to one of the awaiting deputies. "Kira, a deputy is going to take you home, but we'll just need you to fill out some paperwork first, okay?"
Meilani offered the girl a small assuring smile and nodded for the girl to follow the deputy. Nothing else would harm her while they were here at the precinct. She went to walk out with Stiles and Scott when Rafe called her and Scott back, making Meilani reluctantly leave her boyfriend's warmth and stop in front of her father.
"MeMe, Scott, I don't know why you guys are lying or why Stilinski is so content to listen to this crap," Rafe chastised and Meilani felt Scott pinch her side slightly, knowing full well his sister was burning on a sarcastic remark. "Just remember something. If half this story about Barrow is true, then not only did someone help set him loose, but he was a pawn in their little game. A mass murderer is bad enough. A mass murderer being controlled by someone? Far worse."
"Yeah, Dad, we get it," Meilani sighed, not really needing any of that on her already throbbing brain.
"Alright, go home you two. It's a school night and I don't mean Stiles', MeMe. I mean home," Rafe said, pointing a finger in Meilani's direction so she knew he meant it.
Meilani puffed out her cheeks but relented and walked out to Stiles who leant against the front of Roscoe. She walked up to him while Scott climbed his way into the backseat of the Jeep. "My dad wants me to come home."
Stiles pouted at Meilani with big hazel eyes, acting like she wanted to go home. She would much rather go to Stiles' and wake up in his arms the next morning. "Who am I supposed to cuddle with then?"
"A pillow, I guess," Meilani mused, squeaking slightly when Stiles wrapped his arms around her waist and brought her flush against him. She looked up at him through her eyelashes and chewed the inside of her lip as her arms wrapped around his neck, playing with the hair at the nape of his neck. "I can always make it up to you tomorrow, though."
Stiles rubbed Meilani's sides and smirked down at her, groaning low in his throat. "Please tell me that's a promise."
Meilani merely brought Stiles down by the back of his neck and pressed her lips to him, feeling him pull her closer to him if that were even possible. She felt her whole body instantly relax in his arms and her heart rate sped up when Stiles cupped the side of her face with one hand while the other stayed on her waist. The two got lost in the quickly heating up kiss as the world around them seemed to blur out and it was just them to.
That was until a very loud car horn startled the two, causing them to scramble apart and away from the Jeep and each other. The couple turned to see Scott hanging in between the front seats with his hand on the horn, narrowing his eyes at the two. "Before I vomit all over this car, can we please go home?"
Meilani smiled sheepishly at her twin and tucked a piece of hair behind her ear. She seriously needed to learn to rein in her hormones.

The next day at school was all but a blur to Meilani. Scott had tried to talk to Kira when they first entered the school, but Stiles had stopped him. He didn't want Scott to get too close to Kira until they knew what she was. She couldn't be like Meilani because even Meilani couldn't walk through the amount of wattage that Kira went through and Meilani was an alpha. She had felt bad to keep Scott from Kira because she knew how much her twin liked the girl, but Stiles was right. They needed to be cautious right now until they could figure out what was going on.
Though, Scott didn't listen of course and found Kira during lunch. Something that turned out to be useful because Scott found out whenever Kira took a picture of herself with the flash on, a sort of firey electricity surrounded her. Barrow had somehow known about it and took multiple pictures of Kira with her phone before Meilani had showed up. Her phone that was still kept in the Sheriff's station and they needed to get it back before someone looked at those photos.
So, Meilani found herself outside the Sheriff's station with Stiles, Scott, and Kira on Halloween night. Scott and Kira had driven over on Scott's bike while Meilani rode over in Roscoe with Stiles. She had fiddled with her thumbs the whole way, feeling the weight of the world appear on her shoulders once again. It seemed like that the feeling would never fully go away.
"Okay, this one will get you into all of the perimeter doors," Stiles informed, handing Meilani a small white keycard before holding up another two. "This one into the evidence room and this one for my father's office."
"Babe, you didn't steal these did you?" Meilani accused, taking the other two keycards from Stiles and shooting him a look.
Stiles smiled innocently at his girlfriend and leant his elbows on the windowsill of the open Jeep window. "No. I cloned them using the RFID emulator."
"Isn't that worse than stealing?" Scott remarked.
"It's smarter."
Meilani snorted in amusement when Kira pulled Scott over to the side to talk to him privately. She didn't know that Meilani knew about the whole picture thing, but Scott and Meilani both told Stiles a small lie about Kira having naked photos on her phone that she'd really rather not have anyone see. Meilani felt bad lying to Stiles about the photos, but Scott had practically begged her not to say anything. He had only told her because she's the alpha and he needed her to help him and Kira break in. She made a joke about feeling used to which Scott gave her a look. She was just shocked Scott didn't see that joke coming.
"Okay," Stiles said once Kira and Scott walked back over to the couple. "So, now almost everybody's out dealing with the blackout. There is always somebody at the front desk, though. There is Dispatch and usually night shifter or two. You guys are gonna use the service door entrance by the dumpster. Alright? Nobody ever uses it. Now, I'll text you if anyone comes out, but, baby, if you get caught I can't help you. My dad is under investigation for an impeachment because of your dad, so, if anything happens I will run and leave all three of you for dead."
Stiles gave Meilani an apologetic look and pressed a soft kiss to her lips. "But I still love you and think you're the prettiest girl in the world."
Scott snickered and crossed his arms across the chest. "You can't use that line every time you're in trouble, dude."
"I will use it till I die, okay?" Stiles defended, pointing a stern finger at Scott to shut up. He dropped his hand from Meilani's cheek and exhaled heavily. "Look, I would have asked my dad, but you know..."
"No, it's fine, Sti, we get it. We'll be fine," Meilani assured her boyfriend, kissing his cheek before she ran off with Scott and Kira to get this done before they ran out of time.
Using the keycards that Stiles had given to them, the trio quietly snuck their way into the precinct and kept low to the ground so they wouldn't be seen by any of the few workers that Stiles mentioned. They had behind a near by desk with one of the night shifter deputies walked by, his radio crackling with random dispatcher notes or calls. They waited for him to grab the file he'd come in for and walk out.
"Stay behind me," Meilani quietly whispered to Kira and Scott, guiding the two quickly across the room and to the evidence room door. She swiped the card along the card reader and quietly pushed open the door, leading Kira and Scott inside. Once her brother and Kira were both safely on the other side, Meilani shut the door and cringed slightly when the door creaked as it clicked shut.
In the safety of the dark room, the trio stood back to their full heights and began to search the small room for where they had placed Kira's phone. With the three of them searching the small space, it didn't take long for Meilani to find it on top of one of the filing cabinets and passed it off to Kira.
Kira tore the phone from the small ziplock type evidence bag and tried to turn the phone on, but all that showed a was a battery bar with a red line at the end to show it was out of battery. "It's dead. We need to take it."
"No, they will notice that it's gone," Meilani declined, shaking her head. They were able to break in and delete those photos, but they wouldn't be able to get away with stealing the phone from evidence. "You have to delete those photos here."
"How do we charge it if the power is out?"
Scott's eyes trailed around the room for anything that could help Kira charge her phone so she could delete those photos. None of them wanted to find out what happened if those photos got into the wrong hands. He froze when his eyes suddenly landed on something on the small brown desk in the room and Meilani noticed he had found a a laptop sat on the desk. "See if you can find a charger cable."
Luckily they had found one in the top drawer of the desk and Meilani flipped open the laptop, freezing when she noticed the background once the laptop turned on. It was a photo of her and Scott sat on Rafe's lap. They couldn't have been more than two and the twins both grinned up at the camera, pointing at it with winks on their faces. Meilani was definitely surprised to see Rafe had made it his background on his laptop.
"Who is that?" Kira questioned, noticing the way that Meilani stared at the screen.
"Uh . . . that's Scott, our dad and I," Meilani whispered, still not processing that Rafe had actually cared that much. It made her remember the good days before Rafe walked out on all of them and they would do things every weekend as a family.
Kira smiled softly at the photo and plugged the chord into the side of the laptop, the wire lighting up a bright blue as she placed the charger into the bottom of the phone. The icon on the phone screen switched to the same icon as before but with the added plug over the battery to show the phone was beginning to charge itself back up. However, it would probably be a minute or two before the phone had enough battery to switch itself back on.
To make matters even worse, Meilani heard the sound of her father's voice and she scrambled over to the door to peak through the window and saw Stiles stood in front of Rafe, blocking the door that would lead to the evidence rom.
"What do you want, Stiles?" Rafe questioned exasperatedly, placing his hands on his hips.
"Oh, shit, Dad is here," Meilani whispered to Scott, glancing over her shoulder at her brother with wide eyes.
"I was just... I was thinking on the case. I was thinking I should clue you in on my thinking. Here's my thinking. I was thinking this . . . I was thinking that Barrow, right . . . Barrow received the information about who to kill at the school, right, you know that? So I was thinking maybe the person who gave him that information, check this out, might actually be someone at the school," Stiles rambled and pat Rafe on the chest, who had glanced down to look at the pale boy's hand on his chest. "And that's, uh, my thinking."
Meilani felt her nerves spike as Rafe hummed at whatever Stiles said and whirled around to face to Scott and Kira with an expectant look on her face. She sighed in relief when Kira announced that the phone was back on and turned back to watch out in case Rafe decided to finish with Stiles before Kira and Scott could delete the pictures.
"You're right," Rafe said to Stiles.
"I am?" Stiles asked in shock, not expecting Rafe to say he was right in the first place. It was mostly just a mumbled mess of words to give his girlfriend and friends more time to delete the photos of Kira that had been taken.
"Yep. We, uh. . . started looking for links between Barrow, faculty and students last night."
"So you already, then, know that stuff? Hmm. You already thought of that."
"Actually, your dad did," Rafe corrected and Meilani felt satisfaction in the way Rafe sounded slightly annoyed that Noah had come up with such a good lead to go with. "His one useful suggestion."
Meilani tensed when she watched Rafe reach out his hand
