"Y/N! There you are!" Vanessa exclaimed with a sigh of relief.
"Vanessa, hey!" you greeted.
Vanessa was easily one of your closets friends here. One of your closets human friends, anyway. She's been here longer than you, and she was the one who showed you around, and was a sort of mentor to you. She was nice and funny, but quite a bit short-tempered.
"How come you didn't answer? I was calling your name on the walkie-talkie for what felt like hours" she questioned with a chuckle.
You furrowed your brows "You did?"
She gave you a look as if to say duh. "Yeah? Didn't you hear?"
"I guess not" you shrugged "Anyway, what's up?"
"Okay, so" she started "Monty's going on a rampage again, and he's scaring the kids passing by. Because your the only one of us he actually likes, can you sort him out?"
You sighed "Are you for real?"
She pursed her lips "Sorryyyy"
You sighed again. You already had enough shit to do, but you knew nobody else would've been able to deal with him and not come out with at least a missing finger.
"Fine" you grumbled.
"Yayyyy! Thank youuuuu!" she beamed, then she hurried away to run some errands.
Walking down to Monty's green room, you were surprised you didn't hear his roars from the other side of Rockstar Row. You couldn't help but wonder what he was so pissed about this time. Probably another kid driving him up the wall.
You arrived outside his room. His curtains were closed and the window had a large crack in it, that nearly zig zagged from one corner of the window to the other. It sounded like he was throwing things everywhere due to the sound of crashing every second, and he was roaring and growling with frustration.
Gulping, you headed up to the door. You hesitated as you knocked on the metal. "Monty?" you called. His room suddenly went silent. You waited a few moments, before you shook off your nerves, rolled your shoulders back, and entered the room with a swipe of your security pass.
The door opened with a clunk, and you peered into the room, not fully stepping inside. The room was pitch black. Taking a deep breath, you stepped inside, the door closing behind you with another clunk, taking away the last source of light you had.
You felt like you were gonna pee your pants when you saw Monty's red eyes open from the other side of the room, glowing through his star-shaped sunglasses.
You were never scared of Monty, but there were just some times where he can still be a bit scare-y. Times like now.
Not keeping your eyes off him, you stretched your arm out against the wall, hand searching for a light switch. You were met with success when you found it, but your hopes were quickly ruined as you flicked it up and down at least ten times, and no source of light appeared.
You sighed "Did you seriously break the light?" He just growled in response.
You then scrambled around on your belt, searching for the flashlight that was supposed to be equipped at all times. You clutched it, and switched it on, blaring the light straight at Monty.
He was sat on his green sofa at the far end of the room, one arm resting along the top, the other placed on his animatronic thigh. He stared intensely at you through his sunglasses and exhaled deeply, literal steam blowing out of both nostrils.
Taking literally one step into the room, something crushed underneath your foot. You shone the flashlight on the source, to see Monty's own Fizzy Faz: Lime flavour.
You looked back up, shining the light back in his face. He grimaced, holding a hand up to shield his eyes.
"Lower the flashlight, will ya?" he grumbled.
You rolled your eyes, then went over to his vanity and switched on the LED light on the star-shaped mirror, illuminating the room. Thankfully that still worked.
You flicked your flashlight off, and stuffed it back on your belt. You looked back up at Monty, who had now stopped glaring you down, and instead was inspecting his nails, still with an annoyed look on his face.
Now you got a better look at his room, it was a mess. There were claw marks on the walls, things tipped over, empty pizza boxes and soda cans covering the floor, and his vanity mirror had a small crack in it. Even the sofa he was sitting on had been shredded.
You slowly neared him. "What pissed you off this time, buddy?" you asked, watching where you stepped. You heard him exhale as you finally came to a stop, just in front of his knees.
"First, one of the maintenance guys fucked something up with my wiring" he cursed "Second, a dumbass kid thinks it's funny to pick up my bass and start playing with it"
You let out a low whistle "That's unfortunate"
He tilted his head downwards, throwing a glare your way from just over his glasses. You shrugged, crossing your arms over your chest, as he looked away.
There was a quiet moment, before you broke the silence. "Do you want me to help fix that wiring for you?"
He lifted his head and looked at you again, his features ever so slightly softening. He flashed you a side smirk "That would be great"
You jerked your head upwards, signalling for him to stand up, and he did so. You headed over to his vanity, pulling the small stool out, allowing him to sit down on it, and he did so.
You grabbed the toolbox from beside the vanity, and set it down on top of it. You flipped open his back cavity, and got to work. It wasn't that much you needed to do, it was just a faulty wire that the other maintenance guy stupidly fitted in.
"So, do you not feel anything at all when your wires are being replaced?" you broke the silence that had fell among you both, glancing at him through the mirror. He just shook his head, not meeting your eyes. "It's the aftermath that I feel. That's why I flipped out, because I knew it was faulty" You nodded.
"That's why I only want you, because you actually know how to do it right" he snarled, making you chuckle. "I mean, if your gonna do a job, do it right. Right?" you threw another glance at him through the mirror, and he finally met your eyes, and side-smirked again.
A few more moments passed, and you had finished. You pushed the cavity shut, putting the equipment back in the tool box "All done"
As you placed the toolbox back down next to the vanity, he stood up and rolled his shoulders back. "Any better?" you asked, hands on your hips.
He rolled his shoulders back again, checking himself out in the mirror, before turning back to you, flashing his pointy teeth in a smile.
"Tons. Thanks dollface" You snorted at the nickname. You couldn't recall the last time he actually called you by your name. It was always nicknames when it came to Monty.
"Also" you started, looking around his tip of a room. "Any need for trashing the place?" you retorted, smirking as you looking back up at him.
"Yes, there was need. It helps me blow off some steam" he shrugged, returning the smirk. You shook your head, chuckling "Whatever"
Your conversation was interrupted by a voice sounding through your walkie-talkie again. You sighed "That's my cue" You walked over to the door. His face turned into a..sad expression?
"Can't you stay?" he murmured.
Your face softened, and you felt slightly bad for the alligator. "m' sorry Monty, I gotta get to work. I have a shit ton of stuff I have to do. This place works me like craaa-zyy" You chuckled lightly.
He just nodded in understanding. "I'll probably see you later though!" you said cheerily, hoping to lighten his mood. He nodded again "Yeah, probably"
You smiled, and waved him off, then left his green room with a swipe of your security pass.

A/N
let's hope i don't get slaughtered when i say i have a fat crush on monty and he's ONE OF my fav characters.
don't worry, the story will progress to
be more interesting and intense, instead of just blabbing about doing maintenance on an angry alligator, a self-involved wolf, a dumb chicken and a sweet bear 🥰
i'm not sure how frequent i'll be able to post a chapter, because there's an exam in a few weeks and i haven't even started studying yet, and it's super important 😰
anyway, that's all for now!
don't forget to vote!
