22 weeks.
Texas. That's where her drive ended and where she pulled into the parking lot of a gas station to fill up her tank and pick up some food. When Ally left she had no idea that she would end up in Texas. Let alone even leave California but yet here she was at a 7-Eleven eating a bag of beef jerky as the rain fell quickly.
Ally sighed and set the jerky down picking up her phone and looking at the messages she had received from everyone that Jaden has spoken to.
Chaser: Call me immediately.
Anthony: What the hell is going on?
Avani: sweetheart call me please
And finally the one that caught her eye the most and almost broke her heart all over again.
Jaden: I messed up. Please come home. I need you.
Part of her wanted to turn her car and drive right back to her house and just hug him and touch him and kiss him. And there was the other part that wanted to leave him and California behind.
But she couldn't do that though..her whole life was in California. Ally felt a small flutter in her stomach and she placed a hand over her belly.
Promise.
The tiny human inside of her that continued to grow everyday and move around and remind Ally that the best thing in her life would soon become a reality. That she could hold and touch and protect for eternity.
Promise Camery Hossler. The name made Ally's heart shake and every time the baby moved it was a reminder that even on bad days she still had something good in life.
Ally got out of the car and walked quickly into the station, shivering at the cold and beginning to look around for something good besides more jerky to eat. "You looking for something?" A boy asked.
Ally looked over at him and nodded. "Real food. It feels like I haven't eaten in days." She laughed softly. "There's this Diner about three blocks down the road. It has the best french toast." The boy smiled.
"Maybe you could show me?" Ally asked.
"Sure. Just let me clock out. I'm Hunter by the way." He answered with a smile.
"I'm Ally." She replied.
After laughing and talking about random things they finally reached the diner and Hunter parked Ally's car.
Ally stepped out of her car as Hunter handed her back the keys and she smiled up at him. It faded however when she heard that painful ringtone.
"we keep this lovin a photograph. we keep the memories for ourselves.."
Ally grabbed her phone out of her pocket and hit ignore, refusing to listen to anything Jaden had to say right now.
"Are you okay?" Hunter asked.
Ally nodded. "Yeah, totally." She lied.
Hunter could tell something was up with her but he would wait to ask. He led her into the diner and then sat down at his favorite booth.
"Hunter, how lovely to see you. How're your brothers?" A waitress asked.
"Their good Maggie. Im good as well." Hunter smiled.
"I see you've brought a girl. Finally getting serious with someone," Maggie teased.
"No no, she's just a friend. Um Maggie this is Ally. Ally this is Maggie, the best waitress you'll meet in El Paso." He smiled.
Maggie smiled. "Well, what can I get y'all to drink tonight?" She asked.
"Coffee please," hunter answered.
"Lemonade." Ally answered.
"Alright sugar. And as for food?" Maggie asked.
"Um, the strawberry cream cheese french toast." Hunter answered.
"And for you gorgeous?" Maggie asked.
"Same thing as him." Ally smiled.
"Alright. It'll be ready soon." Maggie said, walking back to the kitchen.
Ally's phone began to ring again an she sighed pulling it out of her pocket and pressing ignore again.
"Are you sure everything is okay?" Hunter asked.
Ally sighed. "No. Nothing is okay. My boyfriend, well Ex boyfriend cheated on me. In our own home. And I guess it hurts so bad because I'm pregnant with his kid." Ally rambled, laying her head against the table.
"Oh, damn. I'm really sorry Ally. I don't know what to say. Um, where do you live?" Hunter asked.
"Los Angeles, California." She answered.
"You drove eleven hours away from home?" Hunter asked.
Ally nodded. "I needed to get away. To clear my head. I never even wanna go back." She mumbled.
"Listen. After we eat, you can crash at my place for the night. But in the morning I want you to call your ex boyfriend and just listen to what he has to say. It sounds like he obviously cares and wants to apologize." Hunter spoke.
Ally sighed. "Fine. But you're paying for dinner." She replied.
"Deal." Hunter says.
