26 weeks.
Ally jolted awake, feeling an excruciating, awful pain in her low abdomen as she sat up, crying out in agony. She pushed herself out of bed, walking to her bathroom and flicking the light on when the blood was extremely visible.
"Jaden!" She screamed, eyes widening at the blood as she tried to feel if her stomach was moving. She kept screaming though, causing Jaden to jump out of bed and rush to the bathroom.
"Holy shit! What happened?" He exclaimed.
"I don't know!" She cried, leaning against the counter.
"We've gotta get to the hospital!" Jaden exclaimed, picking her up, not caring about the messy state her clothes were in.
"You're gonna be okay baby, it's gonna be okay!" He spoke, carrying her out to the car and buckling her in before getting in himself and speeding to the nearest hospital.
Jaden helped Ally into the hospital, yelling for help as two nurses saw them. They ran over to the teens and a nurse knew instantly that Ally was in labor.
"Please, help me! She's only twenty six weeks. She woke up and she was bleeding!" Jaden cried.
"Kelsey, get me doctor Bryson. She's in labor." The nurse in purple scrubs yelled, pushing a gurney to the teens as Jaden helped Ally lay down. Ally took shaky breathes as she held onto Jaden's hand.
"It's okay. You're gonna be okay." He assured her, smiling softly.
Ally nodded as doctors came running, and kept pushing Jaden back. "Im sorry sir, she has to have an emergency C-section." A male nurse said.
"Is she gonna be okay?" Jaden asked.
"Yes." He answered.
Jaden ran a hand through his hair as he made his way to the waiting room, pulling out his phone to call Griffin and the other boys.
Eventually almost an hour passed when a doctor walked out with a sour look on his face and he motioned for Jaden.
The raven haired boy stood up and walked over to the doctor. He could tell something was wrong. Something was very wrong.
"We are doing the Cesarian section, but Promise has a condition. Her heart is weak, it's always had an irregular beat but we never thought it could get this bad." Doctor Bryson spoke.
"Is she gonna survive? What about Ally? Am I gonna lose both of them?" Jaden asked.
"Ally is going to be fine. It's Promise we are worried about. Her heart is extremely weak..she may not even make it through the surgery. And if she does she will be in the ICU for awhile after." Doctor Bryson answered.
And Jaden felt like the world was crashing around him. Promise could die by child birth, something he thought would never happen. But she could die. His own daughter could pass away before he's even gotten to know her.
"What can I do?" Jaden asked.
"Be strong. That's what she needs right now. Is you to be as strong as you can." Doctor Bryson said, before walking back to the surgery room.
"Jaden," Anthony said, walking into the waiting room.
"Hey man," he said softly as Anthony hugged him tightly.
"So, what's going on?" Anthony asked.
And that was when Jaden broke down. Explaining everything through broken sobs as Anthony rubbed his shoulder.
"Everything is gonna be okay," Anthony assured him, holding him tightly. He was scared too, that his niece might die.
Eventually hours had began to pass. Jaden hadn't slept at all, Anthony had gone home and Chase K as well as Griffin had come to visit.
Everyone could see the struggles Jaden was going through. He just got Ally back and now he might lose the only thing keeping them together.
"Mr.Hossler?" A nurse called.
Jaden stood up, walking over to her and she smiled softly. A tear rolling down her cheek and Jaden couldn't help that tears that formed in his own eyes as she handed him a small bow.
"They both made it. They are both healthy. Your daughter is going to be just fine." She smiled.
Jaden couldn't help the excited yelp that left his mouth as he smiled back at her, tears falling.
"Can you put this on her?" He asked.
"Nope, thats your job dad. Follow me," the nurse smiled, leading him to the room.
Jaden couldn't wait to see them. To hold them, to kiss their cheeks and tell them how much they meant to him. They were his world. His reason. His purpose. His promise to keep fighting.
The door was pushed open and he walked into the hospital room, sobbing at the sight of Ally protectively engulfing Promise to her chest. She looked up at him and she smiled softly.
"She's so beautiful," Jaden whispered, looking down at the infant in his fiance's arms. Promise was the most beautiful thing he had ever seen. She was tiny, for being born extremely premature of course, but he loved her anyways.
Jaden took the small bow and placed it around the small baby's head, being as gentle as he possibly could with her.
"Wanna hold your daughter?" Ally asked.
Jaden nodded and held his arms out, cradling the infant and rocking her softly as he watched her take short breathes. She had Ally's nose. And her lips. And hopefully her beautiful eyes too.
"She's the most beautiful thing I've ever laid eyes on." He said, earning a unanimous amount of "awes" from the nurses and staff in the room.
"What is this beautiful miracle's name?" A nurse asked.
"Promise Camery Hossler." Ally answered, as Jaden nodded along to her words.
He placed a gentle kiss on the babygirl's forehead, a tear or two falling. This was the best day of his life. The day he met his reason for being alive.
He sat down on the bed next to Ally and she leaned her head against his shoulder, admiring promise with him and she couldn't help but cry a little herself.
Ally took the small infants hand and placed it against her lips, tears in her eyes as she kissed the infants fingers.
She held the small princess's hand against her chest and took a deep breathe. "That's my heart. It beats for you." She said, smiling softly.
The room began to clear of nurses and Ally yawned softly. Jaden knew she was exhausted and he got up, placing Promise in her small nursery crib.
He made sure Ally was comfortable before kissing her goodnight softly and exiting the room to go update Anthony and Chaser.
"Jaden, lovely to see you again!" Doctor Brock smiled.
Jaden smiled back and shook his hand, nodding in agreement. "My daughter was just born. And you were right. It's a whole new world. I get it know. What you meant when you said that you finally realize why it's like to be willing to give up your life for another person's." Jaden smiled.
"It's gonna be a long journey son, and it won't be easy. But as long as you communicate and take extremely good care of her, I know she'll be incredible. Because well, her dad is pretty cool is you ask me." Doctor Brock replied.
"Thank you, Doctor Brock. For everything." Jaden said. "I couldn't have done this without you."
Doctor Brock smiled. "It's what I do son, congratulations!" He said before walking away.
Jaden reached the waiting room and smiled widely, walking over to the group.
"Promise is beautiful! I can't wait for all of you to meet her!" Jaden exclaimed.
Anthony smiled and hugged the raven haired boy as the others cheered him for being good at something for once.
"So, what now?" Anthony asked.
"Now, we play the game of Life." Jaden smiled.
And being honest, there was nobody else he would rather play the game with. Because there is nobody else he wants in his life.
This was his game of Life, and he was going to make it the best he possibly could. Not just for him, not for Ally.
But for the tiny miracle, asleep, swaddled up in blankets laying against Ally's chest as Ally held her protectively.
