later,zoey was convinced by the newsies to go get papes from jack and davey.

she kneeled down and got handed papes from jack.he smiled at her,"go do what you do best zo'
he told her.

zoey grinned,standing up with the papes.she pulled on her newsie cap and waited for race to get his papes.

zoey and race split up to give the kids of new york the papes.zoey knocked on the door of a sweatshop and it opened soon after.

a group of shirtless boys stood there,looking at her.

"hey,you guys read?"
she asked.they all nodded and zoey handed them some pages.

this continued,she made her way across new york until she had no more pages left.

as she made her way back to the square she saw many kids sitting reading the pages.she felt a familiar sense of pride and she grinned.

zoey and jack sat together in the square after jack had apologised for what he said.zoey laid her head on his shoulder and watched mush turn around.

"so when's the others coming kid?"
he asked kid blink.

"they ain't coming"
jack stood up.zoey stood up too and felt race hold her hand.

"ain't gonna be nobody but us."

the newsies told jack to have hope and zoey nodded.

les walked away from the group and racetrack and zoey followed.

"when the circulation bell starts ringing,will we hear it?"les sang.

"nah"race sang back,holding his shoulder.

race took of his hat and huffed.

"what if the delanceys come out swinging,will we hear it?"he sang.

"no!"
les said.

jack stood closer to them and the newsies followed.

"attaboy"
race hit les' hat,placing his own back on.racetrack through his cigarette on the ground and held zoeys hand again.

the newsies paused as they heard hundreds of voices singing.

"look!"

zoey looked to see hundreds of kids coming towards them,singing and cheering.the newsies started cheering and zoey laughed.

race hugged her and she hugged back,"it's really happening race!"

zoey looked up to see spot coming towards them with his newsies behind him.she smiled and they waved at each other.

"the world will feel the fire and finally know!"

the thousands of kids started cheering.

the manhattan newsies made their way though the crowd to the front of pulitzers building.

"strike!strike!strike!"
the kids chanted.

"dear me!"race nudged jack,"what have we here"he pointed to the door opening.

jack and davey energed the building,after zoey had hugged both of them tightly.

her and race cheered with everyone,hugging onto each other.

zoey laughed as she spotted jack open the window at the top of the building.pulitzer stood beside him,shouting at him.

spot called everyone over to the gates as they opened,revealing jack and davey.

everyone asked jack what the said and zoey stood beside les,waiting to hear.jack kneeled down to les' level.

"well,the strikes over.we beat them"
he told les.the two smiled and jack pulled les on his shoulders.he stood up and faced the crowd.

"we beat em!"
he shouted.

everyone cheered and and jumped.zoey jumped into races arms as they both laughed in victory.

thousands of kids yelled and jumped through the streets,zoey was surprised the city wasn't falling down.

weasel pushed through the crowds with the delanceys behind him.he pulled on his hat and walked away.

morris smiled as he passed race and zoey,and zoey grinned.

"jack,it's the bulls,it's the bulls,let me down!"
les told jack.

the newsies pushed zoey and jack down so they didn't get caught.

denton stopped the two,"guys,it's over"

"let them go!"race told him,pulling zoey along.

"no,no,you don't have to run."
"not anymore,not from the likes of him anyways"
denton referred to snyder.

"come on"
he pulled the siblings towards the carriage.

the door opened from the back and kids piled out into the crowd.zoey got closer,waiting for a certain someone.

she frowned as the last kid came out of the carriage.snyder walked around to the back and by now zoey was across from him.

she looked up to see crutchie hopping out of the carriage.she gasped.

"crutchie!"she screamed.he got out as quickly as he quickly and the two ran into a hug.crutchie dropped his crutch and zoey let him put his weight on her.

she held him tightly,tears brimming her eyes.

"i missed you zoey"
he smiled,looking down at her.

"ise missed you too crutchie"
she nodded,smiling.

she picked up his crutch and gave it to him.

snyder stood into the carriage and crutchie stopped him,"uh-remember what i told ya snyder.the first thing you do in jail,make friends with the rats."crutchie told him

"share what you got in common."he smiled.zoey laughed as snyder ignored the boy and turned around.

he sat down in the carriage and crutchie stopped the officer from closing the door.

"officer,may i,please?"
he asked.

"sure kid"
the officer said,letting go of the door.

crutchie slammed the door and locked it,causing the kids around them to cheer.zoey smiled and hugged crutchie again.

the two walked back over to the newsies and they greeted crutchie.

"you won't be seeing much of him anymore."
denton said as they watched the carriage drive away.

"say goodbye warden."

"bye!"the newsies yelled to snyder.

"ah,jack you ought to seen it"crutchie nodded,"he come storming into the refuge waving his walking stick like a sword and he's leading this army of lawyers and cops-"

"who comes walking in?"
jack cut across the boy.

"you know,your friend.him"
crutchie pointed across the way,"teddy roosevelt"

zoeys eyebrows raised as she saw teddy roosevelt greeting all the kids around his carriage.

"the governors very grateful you brought this problem to his attention."denton told jack.

zoey looked at jack and he looked back.they both widened their eyes and looked back to mr roosevelt.

"roosevelt?"
race whispered.

"i said you might need a lift somewhere"
denton told jack."he's glad to oblige,anywhere you want."

zoey paused and looked at jack.she knew what was about to happen and she wasn't sure she was prepared for it to happen.

"so,could he drop me at the train yards."
jack asked.

"yeah,if that's what you want"

the newsies walked towards the carriage,zoey and jack holding hands.

jack shook teddy roosevelt's hand and then turned to zoey.he pulled her into a hug and she hugged back tightly.

"you wanna come with me?"
he asked,looking down at the girl.

she shook her head,looking towards the newsies,"ise got my own dreams jack."

jack nodded and cleared his throat,"yeah,alright..well."he looked at her.

zoey laughed and hugged him again,"i'm a train away jack,go"

jack smiled and pointed to his heart.zoey copied him and he jumped into the carriage.

zoey and roosevelt shook hands and he gave her a smile,"he's in good hands"

zoey smiled at the man.

the carriage started to move and everyone followed it.zoey and race pushed it,both smiling at jack.

zoey didn't let herself cry because she knew jack had wanted this for years.she wasn't gonna take this away from him.

the newsies made their way back to where they originally stood,just not as happy as before.

zoey stood in between mush and kid blink.

"try bottle alley or the harbour"
mush sang,leaning against a pillar.

"i'll go to the harbour"
a newsie said.

"try central park it's guaranteed"
race sang,elbowing zoey.

"try any bank or bum or barber"
crutchie sang.

"they almost all knows how to read"
zoey sang.

the newsies started to walk through the gates.

"summer stinks"
boots sang.

"and winters waiting"
skittery joined.

"welcome to new york"
everyone joined in,"boy,ain't nature fascinating,when youse gotta walk"

davey stood at the barred window,holding up a coin.

"hundred papes."

zoey smiled and mush patted his shoulder.

zoey went next,taking some coins out of her pocket.

she stopped and turned when the crowd started to cheer again.

suddenly,teddy roosevelt's carriage came through the gates.

"jack!"
race exclaimed,jumping down.

"he's back!"
mush smiled.

zoey jumped down and ran to the carriage.crutchie stood beside her and smiled,"jack,this is wonderful.hey jack,how you doing?"

jack pulled zoey into a hug and she laughed,"couldn't stay away cowboy?"she asked.

"i guess i couldn't"
he grinned,pushing her away playfully.

"so how's the headline today?"
jack asked davey.

davey chuckled,"headlines don't sell papes,"he placed his cap on,"newsies sell papes."

everyone cheered and clapped again.

"come here davey"
jack nodded to davey.

davey walked down the steps with his papes and gave them to crutchie.

he and jack spit in their hands and shook them.

zoey laughed and felt a tap on her shoulder.she saw race grinning and she rolled her eyes with a smile.

he pulled her in and the two kissed.the crowd cheered and applauded racetrack.
they pulled apart and race held zoeys hand.

"what,are youse dating now?jack asked seriously.

race looked at him and nodded.jack cracked a smiled,"finally."he laughed,spit shaking with racetrack.

zoey turned and saw sarah coming towards them.she smiled at her and sarah grinned.

once sarah got to jack,he pulled her in for a passionate kiss.

"whoo!jackie boy"
racetrack yelled.

zoey and davey shared a look and they both laughed.

they made their way out of the gates with roosevelt's carriage in front of them,spot conlon inside of it.

zoey laughed at him and he rolled his eyes at the girl playfully.

"go back to brooklyn!"
zoey told him.

"it's a fine life,carrying the banner!"

the newsies continued singing and dancing as they left with their papes in hand.

zoey gave race a kiss on the cheek,and stood with crutchie,the two walking off to their selling spot.
