Y/n sat in the living room of their shared house, playing her PlayStation.
Taylor had been locked up in her at-home studio, working on new music. Y/n didn't know much about it, but when Taylor would come out for drinks and snacks, she would be humming tunes to herself and trying to figure out lyrics for whatever song she was working on at the time.
One time when Taylor had come out for a snack, she was working on one of her classic depressing songs. One of the lyrics that Y/n could remember was something about "the smallest man who ever lived", she had an idea of who that could be about. She had loved the song though, she wanted to try to get Taylor to play a little bit of it for her.
"Are we playing Until Dawn again?" Taylor questioned as she sat next to her girlfriend on the couch, placing a kiss on her cheek. "That's like the third time this week." She continued, turning her attention to the screen to see the section of Sam and Chris at the beginning of the game.
She's seen the game so many times because of Y/n that she practically knew everything.
"Maybe... it's my last day off this week, give me a break." She joked, pausing the game to give Taylor her full attention. Taylor playfully rolled her eyes before letting out a chuckle. "Anyway, how was the songwriting going?" She asked curiously.
"It's pretty good! I think I almost got this one song done."
"Is it the smallest man one?"
Taylor nodded, confirming her thought with a smile. "If you're lucky, I might play it for you later." She teased, kissing her cheek once again and then standing up, making her way toward their shared bedroom.
"Hold on, wait for me!" She spoke, quickly turning off the console, and raced behind her, following her.
Taylor was back to songwriting, working on the next album to break people's hearts including her girlfriend's. With Taylor working, that left Y/n to do whatever she wanted to do. Elvis was working at the store, so he wasn't available.
She wasn't sure what to do. There were too many options to pick.
She stood in the middle of the living room, her hands on her hips as she thought about all the things she could do. Just then, she found herself walking toward the sound of Taylor playing around with chords and humming, trying to figure out lyrics. She cracked the door open, taking a peek inside. After a few seconds, the music stopped, and then the chair spun around, Taylor now facing the door. "Is everything okay, my love?" She questioned curiously.
Y/n fully opened the door, and an embarrassed smile on her face from getting caught. "Yeah, everything is great! Just got a little bored and lonely." Y/n replied, stepping inside the room.
With that, Taylor put her guitar back on its stand before approaching her girlfriend. "We could go out and do something if you'd like?" She suggested, taking her hands into hers and planting a kiss on her forehead.
"I don't wanna disturb you from your work though."
"Y/n, honey, my love, you won't be disturbing me, I want to spend time with you."
"Really?" Y/n questioned, unsure if she was serious or not.
Taylor nodded, letting out a chuckle and kissing her cheek once again. "Yes really, now, let's put our shoes on and we can go." She replied, walking out of the room, and dragging her along behind her.
Y/n rolled her eyes playfully with a smile, following behind her girlfriend.
The couple ended the day in their shared bedroom, cuddled up with a show displayed on the TV. Taylor was focused on the screen, but Y/n looked up at her with a soft smile, admiring her beauty.
The second she caught the sparkle in Taylor's eyes, she realized that this was where the rest of their lives started. She would be spending the rest of her life with the woman that she loved more than anything, the woman she thought she would never see again after she moved to New York. This was truly the happiest that she's ever been.
At that moment, she sat up enough to plant a kiss on her cheek, soon placing her head back on her girlfriend's chest. "What was that for?" Taylor asked curiously, pulling her attention away from the screen and looking down at her, seeing the smile on her face.
"No reason. Just felt like kissing you."
"I know that look on your face, there was a reason. What is it?"
She knew Taylor knew her too well for her own good, she should have known that this would happen. "It's just that I realized that this is where our lives together really start." She pointed out with a grin, soon continuing her thought. "We've been through so much together and now we have a house together, we made this decision together."
Taylor smiled as she listened to her girlfriend talk about the realization she had. She couldn't believe all of this was happening either, she didn't think that she could ever love Y/n in this way. In her mind, they were always meant to be best friends, but she then realized that she was the love of her life, she never wanted to live without her. Now, she'll never have to.
"It is crazy, isn't it? I don't think we ever thought we would end up here."
"See? You get it. We were just best friends like four years ago, and now, you're the love of my life and I can't imagine my life without you."
Taylor smiled at that comment, this was the first time that Y/n had called her that. The love of her life. She's heard those words from other people before, like Joe, but she's never heard it from someone who meant it. "Love of your life, huh?" She questioned curiously, slowly leaning in and planting a kiss on her lips.
With that, Y/n grinned and returned the kiss.
