chapter seven: fuck you.

"Yo, I thought you were coming with us to Elliot's?" Rue asked as the four of them exited the school, but Melanie started walking the other way. "Oh yeah, I am. Just not right now, I have to go check in with Fez and then get ready for later tonight." She said. After getting sent to the principals office, the principal did in fact call Fez. Once Melanie got home he told her that she had to come home right after school. This was his first time being more of a parent figure by giving her a small "punishment" and she honestly wasn't mad because it showed that he cared. And since, that day she had been returning home right after school like she was told.

"Oh yeah, I forgot that Jules got you in trouble." Rue pursed her lips. "Wha-I didn't get her in trouble!" Jules said. "You sort of did.." Elliot spoke. "She could've forfeit the dare." Jules shrugged. "Guys it's whatever, I'll see you later." She waved as she started to walk away.

"Wait! Lanie, I can give you a ride." Elliot pointed behind him over to his car. "You don't have to." She shrugged. "But I want to, so come on." He said as he grabbed her hand and she smiled softly. "Thanks."

Melanie waved at the three who sat in Elliot's car as she opened the door quickly closing it. "Fez! Im home!" She called as she rushed to her room. Then the girl started to get ready for Maddy's party later on. She wanted to get ready early so she could be able to hang out with Rue, Elliot, and Jules before she went to Maddy's party.

She put her hair in a middle part-slicked back bun, she put on a bikini, then over that she wore white pants, a baby blue crop top, with baby blue and white air jordan 1's. For her make up she did a light concealer base, knowing that she was going to be in a hot tub, then simple black eyeliner and false lashes, with a baby blue eyeshadow on her waterline, highlight on her nose and inner corner, and some lip gloss. It was pretty simple but cute, this was the most she went full out on her eyes, she barely wore false eyelashes even though she had some, they were just there.

She quickly packed herself extra clothes for after the hot tub and sprayed herself with perfume.

As she exited her room her eyes widened once she almost ran into her little brother. "Where the fuck are you going?" He asked. "To Maddy's birthday party, why do you wanna know?" She furrowed her eyebrows as she closed her room door behind her. "No reason." Ash shrugged as he made his way to the living room and she followed after him. "Is Fez even here?" She questioned. "Nah, he went somewhere real quick." The girl almost scoffed. "He's always telling me to check in or some shit and is never here. Well tell him I'm off to Cassie's for Maddy's party." She said. "Alright, have fun, I guess." He called as she left.

She laughed as she closed the door, making sure to have her key this time. Once she checked, she was on her way to Elliot's.

And she was at his door before she knew it.

"Hey, Monae." She hugged Elliot's cousin, the two met the second time Melanie and Rue went over, Monae was pretty cool to be around. "Hey, pretty girl. Who you tryna look good for?" Monae smiled as she opened the door. "No one really, I'm just going to a friends party later." Melanie said with a smile. "Well, I hope you have fun later on." She said as Melanie made her way to Elliot's room. "Thank you!" She called as she made her way to his room.

The closer she got she could hear music playing, with Elliot playing his guitar along with the song. Once she entered the room she spoke up. "Hey, losers. I have about," She took her phone from her back pocket and checked the time. "Umm, two hours to hang until I leave." She said. "Woah, you look hot, where are you going?" Rue asked. "Why thank you, Rue. I'm going to Maddy's party later." She spoke as she placed her bag on the floor, sitting next to Rue who was sprawled out of Elliot's bed. Jules sat near the window while Elliot was on the floor, like always.

"Yeah, you look really nice." Elliot agreed, he couldn't seem to look away from her, she smiled. "Thank you-I feel like you guys are gonna give me a horrible ass dare. Why are you guys being so nice?" She laughed nervously. "We can't compliment you?" Elliot asked. "I mean I guess you can, but coming from you two..it's maybe a twist." Melanie explained. "There's never a twist." Rue stated. "Literally, never." Elliot nodded. "Okay, whatever. Thank you for the compliment. Now, let's do something fun." Melanie said which made Jules laugh. "Yeah, let's do something." Jules agreed.

For the last two hours they just spoke about random things, continued their game of truth or dare, and laughed at each other. As Elliot left to the bathroom, Jules turned to Rue.

"I dare you to kiss Elliot when he comes back, for at least, ten seconds." Jules spoke to Rue, Melanie furrowed her eyebrow. "Okay." Rue shrugged as Jules held back her smile. "You wouldn't be uncomfortable or..like upset about that?" Melanie questioned Jules. "No, it's a dare-shit, here he comes." Jules said as she continued to dance to the music, Rue quickly rushed over by the door waiting for him to walk in the room. Once he did, Rue quickly grabbed him and pecked his lips. "That was not ten seconds." Jules shook her head.

"Was that a dare?" Elliot questioned. "Maybe." Jules said. Elliot leaned over to Rue, whispering something to her before he turned back to Jules and spoke. "Start the clock." He spoke, Jules started counting as the two started making out, Melanie quickly grew uncomfortable as she furrowed her eyebrows, looking over at Jules. Jules counted the rest quickly, and the two pulled away. "That was amazing." Rue spoke. "Oh..kay, Rue." Jules nodded awkwardly. "Oh, I'm sorry. Are you, are you jealous?" Rue asked her girlfriend. "No, no. I don't get jealous." Jules said, Melanie was just confused to everything that was happening.

"Hey, Elliot." Jules turned to him. "Yeah?" He asked. "Uh, truth or dare?" She questioned. "Dare." He answered. "I dare you to lick from here.." She pointed from her underwear line. "To here." She said and pointed to nearly under her breasts. Elliot turned to Rue, speaking. "Wow. Your girlfriend is sexy." Elliot spoke as he walked over to Jules.

Melanie sat in the corner of the room completely uncomfortable, she had no idea what was going on, but Jules was clearly jealous and wanted to get back a Rue. But if anything, it was just making things hard for Melanie.

Jules and Rue had no idea about the kiss her and Elliot shared, but it seemed like it meant nothing now that Elliot basically was intimate with everyone in the friend group at this point.

Melanie scrolled on her phone, trying to ignore the fact that Elliot was licking the girl's stomach a couple inches away from her. So as she ignored the words that were now coming out of Elliot's mouth as he spoke to Rue and Jules, her phone notification went off making her nearly cry out a thank you. She needed a distraction so she wouldn't cry.

It was Maddy.

"Y'all can continue to lick each other, but I'm heading out since it's past the time I was supposed to leave. I'll bring cake back-or I won't, who knows. I'll call later." Melanie rambled awkwardly as she stood up and grabbed her bag, she didn't let any of her friends speak, she just walked right out. They all stared at the door as it closed.

Elliot but his bottom lip, mentally cursing at himself.

I fucked up. What the fuck was I thinking?

He thought.

"Hey, Mel!" Maddy pulled the girl into a hug. "Hi, Maddy! Happy birthday!" Melanie said over the blasting music. "Thank you! I'm so happy that you made it, I thought you forgot about the party." She stated and Melanie shook her head. "I would never! You look great, by the way." Melanie complimented. "Thank you, babe. You so do you." Maddy smiled as she grabbed Melanie's had and pulled her over the the table, where everyone else was.

"This bitch finally got here so let's all sing happy birthday and get this party started!" Bb said and they all cheered.

The girls sang happy birthday, gave Maddy her gifts, danced along to the music. They were all having a good time, well almost all of them were. Melanie noticed how much Cassie had been drinking and acting weird. The only time Cassie seemed to show some bit of excitement is the moment someone knocked on the door, so Melanie slowly trailed behind, watching as Cassie opened the door.

Once it fully opened, Melanie groaned at the sight of the tall boy walking through the door. Melanie rushed over to Maddy. "You seriously invited him?" Melanie whispered yelled at Maddy, before Maddy could answer Nate was by Maddy's side making the brown girl walk away.

Melanie walked over to Kat and Bb sitting down. "How come you didn't eat any cake?" Bb asked. "Umm, I don't really like cake, I'm saving my piece for someone else, though." Melanie admitted and Kat smiled. "That blonde haired guy I've been seeing you around with a school. That's who you're saving it for?" Kat questioned, Melanie's eyes widened. "Maybe." The girl smirked slightly and Bb laughed. "You got a boyfriend and wasn't gonna tell us?" Bb asked. "No, we're not dating..he's just a friend. I mean, I do like him..either way, I don't think he likes me back." Melanie shrugged. Kat got up, motioning for Melanie to follow her as they walked into that kitchen.

Melanie was confused to how Elliot felt about her after tonight. Either way, she was planning on asking him.

"There's no way that he doesn't like you. When I saw you two at school a few days ago I thought he was your boyfriend, the way he was looking at you with his arm around your shoulder." Kat said as she poured herself a cup of juice and Melanie nodded. "Yeah, but we're just friends, it's hard to talk about feelings. The only time I can is when I'm smoking weed." Melanie scoffed and Kat scoffed along. "Sometimes you gotta do it." Kat said as they made their way back to the living room. "Yeah, I know. How about when I bring him the cake tonight I'll ask-" Melanie stopped talking as she watched in confusion as Cassie walk down the stairs in a pink swimsuit.

As the two girls made it back into the living room, Lexi leaned over the couch arm, trying to get a glimpse at her sister. Melanie, forgetting that she was just telling Kat about her plans for tonight, sat next to Lexi with furrowed brows. "What's wrong with your sister? Do you know? She's been down..this whole time." Melanie asked. Lexi shrugged. "I don't know, she hasn't talked to me." Lexi muttered back.

Music started blasting from the other room making Melanie cover her mouth in disbelief. "Cass is going through it." She whispered and Lexi nodded, hearing as Cassie yelled over the music.

By the time the song was over, the girls started getting ready to get in the hot tub, but Melanie stayed on the couch, still sitting next to Lexi.

"Hey, aren't you getting in the hot tub?" Lexi asked and Melanie shook her head. "Not anymore." She shrugged. "Why's that?" Lexi smiled softly. The two girls wouldn't consider each other best friends, but they did consider each other close friends. And every time they talked, they always got along pretty well. "Because Nate's getting in, not only does Fez not want me around Nate, but something is most definitely about to go down in that hot tub. I hate to say it but, Nate and Maddy aren't a good match and they always end up fighting-so I rather just observe from afar. And lastly, I'm too lazy to do the whole changing thing." She explained. Lexi only laughed. "Yeah, that's true. I mean, it's better to observe sometimes." The brunette said and Melanie nodded. Yeah, she wore a bikini for nothing, but at least she still showed up to the party.

So for the next ten minutes Melanie spent her time talking to Lexi about everything that's been going on, Melanie even questioned Lexi about her and Fez. It was clear that they liked each other and Melanie found it cute. "Yeah, Faye is just staying with us, she has a boyfriend." Melanie finished explaining and Lexi nodded with a smile. "Okay-I just wasn't sure." Lexi said. Melanie was about to speak until screams were heard from the hot tub.

This made Lexi and Melanie stand up as they rushed into the kitchen. "What happened?" The girls asked in unison. "Cassie threw up on all of us." Melanie cringed. "What the fuck?" Melanie muttered as her and Lexi looked outside of the window, watching Suze try to pull her daughter up. "Can somebody help me please!?" Suze called from outside. "I'm sorry, Maddy." Cassie cried. "Nate, get me a fucking towel!" Maddy yelled in disgust.

As Nate went to get Maddy a towel, Melanie walked over to the birthday girl.

"Mads, I'm so sorry that this happened-and I feel so bad for having to leave, but it's getting late and I didn't tell Fez what time I would be back, and on top of that I have to stop somewhere first." Maddy still held a look a disgust on her face, but it softened. "It's okay, Mel. Are we still going shopping this Wednesday?" Maddy asked and Melanie nodded. "Of course we are. Alright, I'll see you later. Love you, Mads." Melanie said as she noticed Nate making his way back. "Love you more, Mel." Maddy spoke as Nate wrapped the towel around her.

Melanie felt horrible for leaving but, she wasn't lying, she had to stop by Elliot's then get home immediately. So, she held her bag in one hand and a plastic plate wrapped foil in the other. She quickly walked on the sidewalk mentally cursing for not having a bike or car.

The girl walked as fast as she could until she made it to Elliot's place. She knocked on the door, patiently waiting for someone to answer, and Monae gladly did.

"Sorry, I know it's late. But I'm dropping this piece of cake off," She held up the plate wrapped in foil. "And I left my clothes upstairs." She said, referring to the clothes she left the other time she spent a night, Monae only nodded, Melanie didn't have to explain herself. "No, you're good." Monae spoke as she opened the door wider for Melanie to enter.

"You can also eat the cake, it doesn't matter who eats it. I'm not giving it to anyone specific." Melanie explained as she made her way to Elliot's room. "Ima eat some right now, shit." Monae spoke, making Melanie chuckle. As she made her way upstairs she was so ready to tease Elliot on how she basically gave Monae the cake.

But as she opened the door, her smile dropped as she noticed Jules sitting on Elliot's bed with no top on, nothing but underwear. "What the fuck is this?" Melanie questioned, Jules head snapped back. "Melanie-I-" before Jules could finish her sentence Melanie walked over to the girl and slapped her. "Fuck you! You have a girlfriend for fucks sake! You're a hypocrite and a fucking cheater." Melanie spat as she grabbed her other bag, she had more to say, but she was only focused on getting out of there before she did anything worse. On her way out of Elliot's room, she bumped into Elliot who was exiting the bathroom with a towel wrapped around his waist.

"Melanie-" she shoved him back before he could finish speaking. "Fuck you." She stormed out.

Going down the stairs quicker than she knew she could. "See you around, Monae." She spoke softly, but didn't give Monae a chance to respond as she closed the door behind her. Elliot held the towel around his waist tightly as he ran over to the door, but it was already closed. "What the fuck did you do to her?" Monae asked her cousin.
