MARCH 28TH

I can't wait to start my break on the 31st. Seriously, this shit is so boring.

Aero's picking me up after and taking me back to the apartment so that I can get ready for the funeral. It feels odd attending someones funeral that I'd never met, but I'll still pay my respects anyway.

Once my class was dismissed it felt like a weight was lifted off my shoulders. My break can't come any sooner.ย

As I exited my class I instantly spotted Aero who was waiting for me with his arms crossed and head leaning back against the wall. He lifted it once he heard the door open and a smile formed on his face seeing me. I walked over to him and placed a kiss against his cheek cheerfully, holding onto his arm as we started walking. I asked him, "Were you bored waiting?"

"I couldn't remember if you said your class finished at 11 or 12 so I showed up at 10:45 in case it was 11, but it wasn't. So I've been standing there for the past hour and 15 minutes," He sighed.

I laughed slightly. My phone rang in my pocket and I picked it up seeing it was Reid. He quickly said, "Hey! My amazing best friend, my platonic soulmate, just the bestest friend I've ever had-"

I cut him off, "I can tell you want something from me."

"Will you come get McDonald's with me?"

I smiled while shaking my head. I've never met anybody who eats more than Reid. I replied, "Wish I could, but I can't. I'm going to a funeral."

"Oh shit. Who died?"

I looked at Aero, since I had no idea what the guys name was. Aero was looking left with a pissed off expression, making me a little confused. I shrugged, "I don't know, actually. Here, we'll drop you something off since we're passing your house anyways."

"This is why you're the best, Hailey."

I rolled my eyes, "Mhm. See you soon idiot."

I ended the call and looked back at Aero, who was still looking in the same direction with the same expression. I looked to see what he was looking at, and I was surprised to see it was Tomas. I looked up at him and asked, "Why are you giving him a death glare?"

I guess Tomas could feel Aero's cold eyes on him because he turned and looked in our direction. He shifted uncomfortably seeing us, something I'd gotten used to. I was expecting him to scurry off in the opposition direction, but to my surprise, he walked over to us.

Well, I guess to Aero. His eyes stayed focused on him and never looked at me once. Tomas said, "Hey Aero. Haven't seen you in a while. How are things?"

Aero almost spat at him, "I've heard you've made my girl upset."

Tomas suddenly took a step back, the anger in Aeros tone being very noticeable. Tomas stuttered, "I-I didn't mean to make her upset."

I suddenly felt very uncomfortable. Tomas doesn't want to be my friend, and that's fine. I started to take a few steps forwards and tugged at Aeros arm, "It's fine, let's just go get Reids lunch."

Aero continued to stare at Tomas for a few moments before finally breaking eye contact and walking forwards with me. Once we were a good distance away from him I said, "Don't go into your assassin mode on him. If he doesn't want to be my friend, that's okay."

"I don't like when people make you upset."

I shrugged, "It's inevitable, I'm going to get upset sometimes and that's okay. Oh, by the way, I told Reid we'd drop him off McDonald's."

He nodded his head, "That's good actually, because I want to ask him if he wants to do something together in April before we move."

My heart felt sad thinking about having to tell Reid that I'm moving, even if it isn't extremely far away. I asked Aero, "Could you leave out the part about moving for now? I want to be the one to tell him, and I want to tell him in the right way. Telling him in his driveway while handing him McDonald's doesn't seem like the right way."

We got into his car and once we were sitting and he tucked some hair behind my ear, "Of course."

I smiled and held onto his right hand while he drove. We went through the drive thru and got Reid what he usually likes. He must've been starving, because he swung the door to his house open the second we pulled into the driveway.

He walked over and Aero rolled his window down. He put his hands against the car and leaned forward, making himself visible to me. His black hair was extremely messy, telling me that he had just woken up.

Aero handed him the bag of food and Reid said, "I've got the best brother and best friend ever. Hey, how long is it until that funeral? You guys wanna come inside and hang out for a bit?"

"We can't," Aero replied. "But I did want to know if you'd want to do something when April starts?"

A huge smile formed on Reids face. He nodded his head, "Yea, of course. Maybe we could play some basketball in the backyard like we used to?"

I made a face remembering how bad Reid was at basketball when I watched him the other day.

"Sure," Aero replied with a slight smile.

Reid hit his hand against the side of the car once, "Cool. Text me whenever."

He walked back inside with his bag of food and Aero started to drive back to our apartment. I love that Reid and Aero's relationship has improved so much.ย

Once we were back at the apartment I took a quick shower before blowdrying my hair. I had laid my dress out on the bed before I got in the shower, so I knew it was ready to put on. I pulled my hair with my straighter, changing the texture from wavy to straight.

I finished and walked out of the bathroom to put my dress on. My eyes widened seeing Aero, who was dressed in full black. I said, "I didn't expect you to dress for the occasion since you have to be tucked away sniping."

He shrugged, "I'm being respectful."

I put my dress on along with a pair of black heels and looked at myself in the mirror, "Okay. I'm ready."

We started to drive to the funeral and I thought about baking something for Aero tonight. I can't imagine sniping at a funeral being that fun, maybe some chocolate cake could brighten his day.

We pulled into the parking lot and there were barely any cars. He told me we had to get there early, so it didn't surprise me. We got out and entered the building, the amount of decorations taking me by surprise.

"Wow, he must've really loved his dad," I said quietly.

Aero whispered in my ear, "Or he wants other people to think that."

The man of the hour appeared into view, dressed in a suit and tie. He patted his jelled hair as he walked over to us, "Well if it isn't my favourite couple."

"I hope you remember what I said to you," Aero said to Alessandro in a stern voice.

Alessandro nodded, "I do. You will be sniping from the top floor, but make sure to stay out of view. I have a seat for you Hailey where I think that nobody should bother you."

Aero disregarded what Alessandro just said and whispered to me, "If anybody makes you uncomfortable for any reason, come and get me."

I nodded my head and Aero walked away towards the staircase. I followed Alessandro towards a seat near the back and sat down against the wooden seat. He was about to leave when I said, "I'm sorry for your loss."

Aero has told me that Alessandro is now the don, so I'm definitely not here to piss him off. He stopped in his tracks, slowly looking over his shoulder. A small smile formed on his face and he said, "Thank you. I'm sorry for some of our negative encounters."

"Did you ever....kill....that other Hailey Romano?" I asked him, having to pause when saying the word 'kill.'

He nodded, "I did."

He walked away after that, ending the conversation. I sat with my legs crossed and slowly people started arriving and filling up the seats.ย

An older man sat to my left, but he didn't say a word to me. With every minute more and more people arrived and I couldn't believe how many people were here. He must've been very important, or known a lot of people.

Almost every single seat was filled up when a younger man sat to my right. He had blonde curly hair with green eyes and I gave him a small smile before looking forwards again. He asked me, "What's your name?"

I hesitated before answering, "Hailey."

His eyes widened and his eyebrows went up, "Ah, the Hailey Romano I've been ordered not to bother. I hope I'm not bothering you."

I didn't care about who was sitting next to me, so I shook my head, "You're fine."

The funeral conductor who was standing in front of the casket suddenly cleared his throat into the microphone, making everybody's conversation end.ย

He spoke for a while, saying nothing but good things about the deceased. It made me appreciate being alive, and I felt sad for the deceased even though I didn't know him.

The man beside me whispered in my ear, "Do you believe this bullshit?"

I lowered my eyebrows at him. He continued, "He's up there sucking his dick when in reality the don was a terrible man."

I ignored him and looked back up to the front. The funeral conductor continued, "And now I ask for Alessandro Diaz to come up here for the eulogy."

Alessandro replaced where the conductor had been standing and said into the microphone, "My father was a great man. From the second I was born, he was the best dad I could've asked for. He was always so selfless-"

The man whispering in my ear beside me made me not be able to hear the rest of what Alessandro was saying, "Lies lies lies. You look like a smart girl Hailey, so I'm sure you aren't falling for any of this bullshit. You are also very beautiful, too."

I whispered back, "I'm trying to listen."

He rolled his eyes, "Please. Do you even know his name?"

I stayed quiet. He nodded his head in satisfaction and I went back to looking forward and trying to listen. It didn't last long until he whispered again, "What did Black do to earn such a hot girl like you? Maybe you're looking for an upgrade?"

I scoffed in his face. He rolled his eyes, "Don't play hard to get in a dress like that, you're basically begging for attention."

"I'm begging for nothing but for you to leave me alone," I snap.

He laughed slightly, "Feisty. That's just how I like them."

A E R O

I scanned the crowd up and down repeatedly through my sniper scope. It was a no gun funeral, so I wasn't expecting anything to happen, but I'm ready just in case.

As I reached the back again I saw some fucking guy whispering in Hailey's ear. I could see on her face that he was annoyed. He leaned in close, whispering something in her ear, but she shoved him away slightly.

That's my fucking girl.

I kept my view on the two of them. I guess he took the hint because he was back to looking forward, and so was she. I scanned the crowd again but when I got back to the back, he was whispering again. She ignored him, continuing to look forward.

He scooted closer to her and I could feel my jaw clench. She scooted away from him and I was about to go down there and knock him out of his seat.

Right before putting my sniper down, he put his hand on her upper thigh, squeezing it. My blood started to boil and my vision turned red as I fired a shot, sending a bullet directly through his head.

His lifeless body fell forwards out of his seat and screams and gasps filled the air as everybody started to get down onto the ground.

So much for being respectful.
