The ride in the limousine was thrilling and funny at the same time. Reo and Nagi truly were a cool duo. As you conversed and laughed with them, you found it odd though that you called Reo by his first name, yet Nagi by his last one.
Reo seemed to realise the same thing. "Aren't you guys on first name basis yet?"
Expectantly, he looked at Nagi and you and the white-haired boy averted his gaze from his friend, his grey eyes meeting yours. "You can call me Seishirou"
You shook your head. "May I...call you by a shorter version? Sei? Or Shiro?"
"Sei as in sacred or Shiro as in Samurai or Gentleman", Reo commented with a grin.
"Sure", Nagi's expression didn't change from his usual unbothered cute one, yet you saw how the tips of his ears slightly reddened and felt your own face heating up.
"What do you prefer?", you asked him.
Nagi wasn't sure what to reply. Neither had he thought about someone calling him by his first name, nor had he ever cared. Now when it came to you he did though.
"I haven't thought about that. Just don't call me 'loser'"
You started laughing and a slight blush graced his cheeks.
Kawaii, he thought about you.
"Alright, alright", you replied as you calmed down again. "You're cute Nagi-chan"
The red on the white-haired boy's cheeks intensified. "Will you continue calling me by my last name?"
"Mhm", you nodded. "Nagi stands for 'calm', it fits you best. But adding a 'chan' is cute, even when you're older than me"
"Okay", he decided that he liked your choice.
When the three of you arrived at your home and headed inside, Hyoma and Mika were already there. It seemed like they had been there ever since the afternoon.
Are they friends with (Y/N)'s grandma? Should I become friends with her too?, Nagi thought.
She greeted Reo and you first, before she placed herself in front of Nagi who had walked behind you.
"Nagi-kun, isn't it?", the old lady smiled at him.
"Yes", he affirmed, unsure what else to say.
"You really are pretty tall. Thank you for taking care of my little (Y/N) back then...Please continue protecting her", she gestured him to lean down a bit and he obeyed. The woman continued whispering. "She can be a troublemaker sometimes, you know"
Nagi nodded. "I promise to do my best to protect (Y/N) at all times"
Unfitting to the moment, the boy's stomach rumbled. Bowing down a little bit more, Nagi apologised to the woman for it. "I'm sorry"
Your grandma laughed. "Don't be, let's eat, the food is prepared already. Come on, come on, sit down"
She gestured him to take a seat and he sat down beside you. Reo was sitting on the short side of the table, the red-haired guy and Hayase-kun opposite of Nagi and you.
While eating, the six of you talked about the most different things. The football training camp, how you and him met and how the others helped to set you up. Eventually you ended up talking about games.
"(Y/N) inherited her gaming skills from me", your Nana proudly declared with a laugh.
Nagi cocked his head, interested. "Do you play Mobile Raid too?"
Everyone at the table laughed and Nagi's confusion grew even more.
"No", Hayase-kun laughed and waved his hand. "She's good at chess"
"Ohhh", Nagi understood. However, he had never played chess before so he didn't say any more about it. Suddenly, he felt something touching his hand under the table.
Surprised, he looked to his left, only to spot you, slightly squeezing his hand. Looking up to your face, he found a smile gracing your lips, seemingly only gifted to him.
He gently squeezed your hand in return and was surprised by how cold it was. "Gimme both", he commanded in a gentle tone only you could hear and you obeyed, slightly confused.
Nagi proceeded with warming both of your hands with his, absentmindedly playing with your fingers, as the conversation among the guests continued.
The boy did his best to concentrate and take part in it, however you gave him a hard time as he caught you looking at him regularly from time to time.
Nagi didn't really care about it though. The feeling of the whole situation was unfamiliar to him anyway - he wasn't used to such a heart-warming atmosphere. Nagi normally almost never saw his parents and even when they were home, it was more like a friendship-like relationship they shared.
The feeling in this table was different - warmer. Was this how family should actually feel like? Found family?
An unfamiliar yet pleasant warmth filled his heart and he found himself thoroughly enjoying the moment. Never would he have thought to have that many and great friends and that he'd date a girl - such a wonderful gamer girl at that.
"Your calmness has a different aura right now, Nagi-chan", you stated from his side and he met your gaze. "Are you okay?"
"Yes", he replied, leaning towards you, only for you to hear it. "This is like a true family dinner - thanks to you I can see and experience things like that. I promise that I will make things more interesting and value them even more from now on"
As he retracted slightly, you gave him an astonished stare before a chuckle erupted you which Nagi found really adorable. "I will love to get to know more about you. One thing I can say for sure though"
"What is it?", he asked.
Now you were the one to lean forward, whispering into his ear. "You truly are no loser, Nagi Seishirou"

"Make yourself comfortable", you said, closing the door behind Nagi who had just entered your room. Hyoma, Mika, and Reo had left already and your Nana allowed Nagi to stay over night.
Due to him not attending school that day, he already wore his comfortable clothes - a white hoodie with a shirt of the same colour underneath and big grey sweatpants.
He always looks so comfortable.
Actually you had a hard time holding yourself back from asking him to cuddle you. All your feelings overwhelmed you and several urges perturbed your calmness at the same time.
The urge to cuddle him, the urge to ruffle his hair, the urge to tell him how you felt.
What a strange thing love is. Probably he feels the same about it though.
You sat down beside him on your bed and stared awkwardly over to your desk. The room at your grandma's house was different than the one back at your mom's. The furniture was older and not much of your taste, yet you felt much more at home anyhow. And that was what truly counted.
"What do you think, shall we have our next date somewhere else than the Arcade or at home?"
You looked at him and he reciprocated the gaze. "Where?"
You had to admit that he looked rather tired and decided that this topic could wait for another night. Or maybe even until your school project was over. "Don't worry about it, let's talk tomorrow"
"Okay. What do you wanna do now?"
"What about we lay down and game a bit before falling asleep?"
"Ah you're really my favourite company", he mumbled and pulled out his phone. You felt a grin gracing your lips and announced to him that you would dress for bed first, leaving for the bathroom. As you changed your clothes, you suddenly remembered something you had almost forgotten.
Hurrying up, you went back to the room rather fast, starting to talk right away as you opened the door. "Nagi-chan, what was your-"
...wish?...
Before you could even fully state your question aloud, you realised that the boy had fallen asleep already.
Wow, he really must have been tired after today.
As silently as possible, you closed the door of your chamber and turned off the light. Carefully, you climbed over Nagi, being amazed by how deep his sleep was that he didn't wake up from your movements.
Fascinating, he sleeps like a mummy.
He laid on his back, having his arms folded, his shirt slightly risen up, showing a little part of his tummy. You felt your heartbeat increasing. Assuming that he probably had gotten rid of his hoodie when you went to the bathroom, you still wondered about his skill to fall asleep that fast.
You placed yourself beside him and asked yourself how long that night would be. How long would it take for you to fall asleep? As you shifted in the sheets, you heard a low mumbling from your right. "Y'good?"
Nagi's sleepy voice reminded you of Choki's...his good night calls. You turned towards the boy, who looked at you with half-closed eyes.
"I'm sorry", you whispered. "Did I wake you up?"
"No, I was still awake"
"Did you trick me?"
"Just rested my eyes a bit"
"You can sleep, it's fine", you layed your head down, your face only inches apart from his.
"I can't"
"Why not?"
"You're annoying", he mumbled, yet his face reddened slightly.
"Huh?"
"Of course I can't. I didn't tell you goodnight yet, dummy. And I also remember your insomnia, so I want you to fall asleep first"
"Nagi-chan..."
How can he be so cute?
"Thank you", you smiled at him warmly and he simply gestured for you to lay down into his arms.
"Come closer", he placed his arms around your back as you felt his warmth embracing you. Immediately you realised how your eyes felt heavier and how his snowy bangs tickled your forehead as you both searched for the most comfortable position.
Soon enough you found it. It was just as if you two belonged together, fitting each other like perfect puzzle pieces.
"Do you remember what I told you over the phone?", he mumbled.
"You mean during our call?"
"Yes"
You felt his heart hammering against his chest from the inside, the rhythm of yours slowly matching his.
"You said you wanted to give me a kiss on the head", you replied shyly.
I hope he means that or it would be totally embarrassing now.
Nothing but your heartbeat and his shallow breath was audible for you as you waited for his reply.
"Can I?", he eventually asked and you hummed a yes and scooted a little away from him again, so that he could act more freely. Nagi took his right hand from your back and caressed the skin of your face as he carefully stroked a strand of your hair behind your ear.
Gently, he grabbed your chin and pulled you closer, placing a soft kiss on your forehead.
"Weird", he mumbled as he pulled you closer to his chest again afterwards.
"What?", you were too absorbed by your feelings for him to understand what he meant by that.
"I wanted to do that for some time now and I don't know why. But it felt good and I don't understand why"
"You're just as clueless when it comes to dating as I am, aren't you?", you chuckled.
"Seems so", he said. "I promise you I'll do my best to make you happy, (Y/N). You're the greatest rival I ever had"
"You too, the first one to really catch my interest. My life was boring before"
"You sound a little bit like Reo, you know?"
"Please promise me you're not secretly a gay in denial who dates a girl cause she's similar to his best friend he's actually in love with", you joked, raising an eyebrow even though he wasn't able to see it anyway.
"What?", he sounded honestly confused.
"Nevermind", you laughed and snuggled closer to him. "So", you felt him placing his head above yours and on the pillow, as his fingers lazily drew circles on your back. "what was your wish now, Nagi-chan?"
"My wish", he mumbled and you felt your eyelids getting heavier again. "is to spend more time with you, (Y/N). Please don't get bored of me"
"I won't", you promised, knowing that what you and Nagi had was very special to you. Once a person made it into your heart, they wouldn't get rid of you again. "I won't, if you won't get annoyed by me"
"Don't worry", he whispered. "I can be myself with you - you're the least annoying person I ever met"
You grinned to yourself, knowing that for Nagi this truly was a compliment. When it came to maintaining interest in something, him and you were somehow as different as day and night, yet at the same time as similar as two different people could be.
Nagi was annoyed easily, you were bored easily. Both of you wanted to win challenges, yet you sought for adventure where he craved for a simple and easy life. However, both of you complemented each other rather well. Nagi calmed you down while you motivated him.
With these thoughts and his familiar smell filling your mind, you slowly drifted off to sleep, laying happily in his arms.
