THE NEXT MONDAY Avery was walking to school, her eyes glued the floor every step of the way. She wasn't completly over the fact that Robin had gone missing, but she needed to get over him, or else it would slowly become too much for her and it would slowly start to destroy her, the guilt and pain would ruin her.

She was on her way to school when she noticed three boys running after another boy. Avery squinted her eyes to try and see better, and that's when the three boys threw the boy onto the ground. Avery flinched as the boy fell hard onto the floor, the brunette girl quickly linked the dots and noticed that it was the three boys she had seen in the bathroom the other day, the three boys that she flipped off while walking with Finn, the three boys that would always bully Finn. And the boy currently being beat up, was Finney Blake. Avery, without thinking straight, ran to where they were, desperately wanting to help her new friend.

"Hey, assholes!" Avery shouted as she got closer to the four. The girl pushed two boys away from Finn, and sent a punch onto the boy that was hurting him, making him fall onto the ground, groaning in pain.

"Fucking cowards." She said to them in anger. She was about to throw one of the other boys a punch when she was suddenly hit. It took her a few moments to realise that one of the boys had punched her, making her fall onto the ground. She wasn't gonna lie, it hurt. Really bad. She had never received a punch before, and she didn't like it, at all. She went to touch the area she was hit, only to realise that the two boys were walking towards her, and when they were close enough, they kicked her in her stomach and then in her back. Avery felt like she couldn't breathe, it felt as if all the oxygen from her lungs had been taken away from her and she was desperate to just grab it back.

"Avery!" Shouted Finney, but that didn't help at all. This only caused the two boys to rush to him, and start beating him up.

Avery stayed a few moments laying on the ground, trying to slowly get the oxygen back into her lungs. Soon enough, she crawled to where the boy she hit was, and saw the damage she had done to him. The side of his head was bleeding, she sure had done a lot of damage. Who knew she could punch this good. Although she started to feel bad for him, she quickly stopped after remembering what he did to Finn. She sat next to him, holding her stomach tightly as if it would somehow stop the pain. She looked at the boys infront of her, she looked at the boy being beat up. She wanted to help him, she really did. But she couldn't move from the amount of pain she was in.

...

The boys that beat her and Finney up were quickly sent to the principal's office. She didn't know what would happen to them, but with the amount of pain she was feeling right now, she didn't really care. She was quickly sent to the nurse's office, and Finn was sent right after. The nurse cleaned her up, every single touch to her bruises were painful. The sweet nurse gave Avery some pills to slightly relieve the pain. Although it didn't do much, she was still thankful. The brunette girl had a bruise on the side of her face, from the punch she had received and she had a few bruises on her stomach and her back, which weren't a surprise to her since the kicks she had received were pretty harsh. Even though she was still in a bit of pain, she headed to her first class of the day.

Avery sat in her chair paying attention to her teacher. She looked around the class and she saw that there were many dead frogs spread around.

"Alright class. Today's the day you've been dreading all semester, frog dissection day. Pick a partner." Announced the teacher. Avery sighed as she didn't move. She saw everyone around her moving around, but she stayed sat in her chair. Some students, mostly boys, came up to her asking if she wanted to be their partner, while some students went to ask their friends to be their partners. She looked around the class to see if she had any other choice that was slightly more bearable than having to choose a boy she barely knew. She quickly looked around, and her eye's caught someone she knew. Finney Blake. Finn had a confused, worried look on his face as he saw everyone moving around, noticing how no one was coming up to partner up with him. Avery felt bad for the boy, knowing he was a great person who, unfortunately didn't have many friends. So, she stood up and walked to where he was sat.

"Do you need a partner?" She asked with a genuine, kind smile on her face. Finney stared at her, his eyes wide open as he wondered what she was doing.

"No, no. I mean- yeah I don't have a," Avery sat down beside him before he could finish his sentence.

"Partner." Before Finn sat down, he saw many students looking at him and at Avery with eyes wide open, whispering about how she chose him instead of anyone else who had asked her. Finn looked over at Avery, to see if maybe she was regretting her decision, but the girl looked calm and peaceful as she grabbed her belongings from her backpack. So, just like her, Finn decided to ignore all the states and he finally sat down on his seat.

"Those guys are assholes." Avery spoke up the minute her partner sat down on his chair.

"What?"

"This morning. Everybody's talking about it, you know." She said looking at him.

"Oh." Finney was slightly embarrased that everyone knew that a bunch of bullies were beating him up, and that Avery had to come and "save him." He also felt bad for having to bring Avery into his fight, those boys hurt her, and he hated himself for letting them do that.

"If it makes you feel any better, everyone's talking about me too. They're saying that I "saved your life." Avery said chuckling a bit, trying to lighten the mood, using air quotes when quoting what other students had said. Finn had now turned to look at her, and she was now looking at her work.

"I mean, I don't care about what they're saying. I thought it was pretty cool though." Finn now had a small bright smile in his face, happy that his crush thought it was cool, he didn't even know what she thought was cool, but he was smiling anyway.

But his smile soon faded away when he actually took notice on the bruise on the side of her face.

"Holy shit, are you okay?" Asked Finney looking at her with a worried expression. It was now Avery's turn to look at him with a confused expression.

"What?"

"Your face. I mean, the side of your face. You have a bruise. Does it hurt?" He said holding her face to inspect it closer, making her eyes open wide and blush. Finney quickly noticed what he was doing and let go, blushing a bit too. Avery was then brought back to what he had said and went to touch the side of her face.

"Oh, right. That. Don't worry, it looks worse than it actually is." She told him with a reassuring smile. Even though he didn't really believe her, he let it be and both of them started focusing in class.

...

Avery could finally go home, but before heading to her house though, she needed to talk to Finney about the lesson they had together. Because to be honest, she didn't understand what was the assignment they needed to do about cutting a frog open. She didn't even pay much attention, she found it gross having to look at the inside of a frog and every time she did, it made her want to throw up.

She was currently walking with Donna, so Avery told her friend that she needed to talk to Finney, and said goodbye to her. So, she was now trying to find a certain curly haired boy.

WITH FINNEY AND GWEN

Finney and Gwen were walking together, like always.

"Avery! Avery! Avery," Gwen teased her brother, making kiss noises at the end of her sentence.
"Oh, Finney,"

"Stop!"

"Will you be my lab partner?" She made kiss noises again.

"Shut up, you jerk." Finney said again, although he didn't mean it, because he had a huge smile on his face.

"Alright, see you tomorrow!"

"Where you going?"

"I'm staying over at Suzie's tonight. It's friday so,"

"I'll look after dad."

"See you kid." Gwen said as she walked away to her friend's house. Avery was a few feet away from both of them, still searching for the boy, when she turned her head and spotted him. She ran to him and quickly appeared by his side, making the boy slightly jump. But when he turned to look at her, another smile came onto his face.

"Hey, Avery."

"Hey, Finn." Avery said, looking at him while they continued walking together. "So, I was wondering if maybe you could explain to me the assignment we have to do after we disected the frog. I didn't really get it, plus looking at the insides of a frog is gross." Finn laughed at his crush for having such a dislike for this certain topic.

"Yeah, of course, Avery." The boy replied with a smile on his face, making Avery smile too. He was about to start explaining but the brunette girl interrupted him.

"It's Aves. I mean, you can call me Aves. It's my nickname and everybody does so," The girl said with a smile, looking down at her feet. Finney's heart beat faster by the second. The fact that she was letting him call her by the nickname left him heartfelt, and he loved her nickname. He thought, somehow, it completely described her and fit her.

"Oh, okay. Well yeah, of course Aves." Avery then turned to look at him with a bigger smile than before, Finn also mirroring the same smile she had on her face. Finney then began explaining the work she had asked him to explain, and they continued to walk together, Avery complaining that she couldn't understand anything, and Finn laughing at her stubbornness and trouble.

...

"Yeah, that's basically-" Finney was about to finish what he was saying when suddenly a man carrying groceries appeared from behind a van.

The two young teens glanced towards the man and noticed how he had an unusually white face, it was extremly pale. The man instantly dropped all his groceries right infront of the two kids.

"Oh! You goof!" The man said, laughing at himself. Finney and Avery both looked at the man skeptically as they took in his features.

"Wasn't that just peachy keen!" The man continued laughing once more.

"Do you need some help?" Asked Finney approaching the man, making Avery look at the boy and then look back at the man. Don't get her wrong, Avery was all about helping people and everything, but in this situation she felt kinda skeptical, but maybe it was just her being paranoid.

"Do you see that!" The man lifted up a broken egg shell from the floor, making the yolk and the egg white fall onto the pavement.

"Yeah." Finn said with a small laugh. Finney was now pretty close to the man, but Avery wasn't. Avery just stood in her spot watching the two with an expressionless face. The man laughed once again before looking at Avery and pointing at something on the floor closest to her.

"Would you hand me my hat?" Avery looked between the man and the hat on the floor. It looked like a magician's hat. Avery then looked to Finney, but then back at the hat. She didn't know if she should pick it up, what if it was a trap or something? Avery thought hard, but then, she thought about how he was a magician, and he probably worked with kids all the time, so there was no reason to be skeptical. Pushing away all her bad thoughts, she picked the hat up and handed it to the man with a kind smile on her face, but what she didn't notice was that the man didn't take his eyes off her once.

"Yes, ma'am," The man looked around him, which made Avery arch a brow. She found that action really weird, and she didn't want to stay here anymore, but she couldn't just leave in the middle of the conversation, she couldn't leave Finn. Avery looked at the boy next to her trying to get his attention, but he was too busy looking at the man infront of them.

"I am a part time magician." Spoke the man now standing up.

"Would you like to see a magic trick?" The man looked between the two kids, shaking some kind of spray in hand. Avery did not want to see a magic trick, she found his actions super sketchy, and she just wanted to go home, but before she could answer, someone else answered for her.

"Yeah!" Finney smiled. Finney looked amazed by the man infront of him. Avery felt her gaze soften as she turned to look at him, maybe she was just being paranoid. Maybe this was an innocent magic trick after all. Avery then stepped forward and nodded with a small smile. She was now standing a few inches infront of her friend. However, something quickly caught Finn's eyes inside the van, making his mood drop immediately, he stepped forward, looking into the van.

"Are those black balloons in there?" Finney asked in a more serious tone. Avery turned to look at him, and she instantly noticed the worried look on his face. Now she definetly knew something was wrong, she looked back to the man infront of her, waiting for his reply.

"Yeah," The man opened the door of the black van and took the black balloons out of the car. The moment he did, he grabbed the person closest to him, Avery Brown. Avery screamed and fought to get away from the man, but he soon sprayed whatever was in that can into her mouth, and threw her into the van.

"Avery!" Finney shouted. He tried to run away and call for help but the man quickly grabbed the boy right after and just like Avery, Finn fought against the man, trying to get free. Using his toy, he used the sharp edge to cut the arm of the man, causing the man to wail in pain. But the man just brought the can to Finney's mouth and sprayed whatever was left in it into the boy's mouth. And then threw him inside the van, right next to Avery.

And with no one to hear their screams, or to rescue them from the horrible man, the two became the latest victims of The Grabber.
