"THIS IS A terrible plan." Gamora said as all the Ravager crafts dropped into the air. Gamora and Quill sat in the front of the Milano, Ellie in the middle, and Groot and Drax in the back.
"Hey, you're the one who said you wanted to die among friends." Quill chuckled.
"Fire!" Yondu commanded and two large guns were fired, the blast hitting Ronan's shield covering the view of the Ravager ships. "Cover down! Submerge!"
All the crafts dropped down underneath the cover and came up under Ronan's ship.
"Rocket hurry!" Quill said as three Ravager crafts flew past them.
"Holy, that is a lot of pods." Ellie muttered as she watched the swarm of pods dive down toward them. "Two pods at your five o'clock." Ellie informed Quill as she watched their back video. Quill dove out of the way, causing the two pods to collide into another one that was coming at their front.
"Yondu, Quill, now!" Rocket yelled.
Quill dodged pods, blasts, lasers, and explosions as he tried to make it to Ronan's ship.
"They're too many of them, Rocket!" Gamora yelled. "We'll never make it up there!"
Golden star battle crafts surrounded the Milano, creating a protective barrier for it to travel in.
"Peter Quill. This is Denarian Saal of the Nova Corps. For the record, I advised against trusting you here."
"They got my "dick" message!" Quill cheered.
"Prove me wrong." Saal said.
Quill engaged the thrusters harder as they approached the hole in Ronan's ship. Ellie's grip tightened on her seat as she prepared for the hard landing. The ship slid through the hole before scrapping hard against the walls and floor.
Green laser blasts shot at the Milano as Drax cackled maniacally in the back. Everyone jerked as Quill spun the ship to the side, Ellie saw what he was doing and prepared the weapons. Quill grabbed the joy stick next to him and fired at the guards shooting at them.
"Yes!" Drax cheered as they screeched to a stop.
"What are you cackling so loudly for?" Ellie asked through a tired sigh.
"That was so much fun!" Drax laughed. Ellie shook her head as she let out a scoffed chuckle.
The group quietly stepped out of the Milano. Gamora led the way with Quill and Drax behind her, Ellie and Groot behind them.
"I can barely see." Drax said as the group squinted to see.
Ellie spread crackles of blue electricity but it failed to create much light. Groot placed a hand on the girl's shoulder before reaching his other into the air and opening it. Light illuminated from his hand as glowing flurries surrounded them. Ellie looked around in awe remembering when Groot would do this when she was younger.
"When did you learn to do that?" Drax asked.
"Pretty sure the answer is 'I am Groot'." Quill replied.
"The flight deck is 300 meters this way." Gamora informed them before they continued their walk, now being able to see.
"I want you all to know that I am grateful for your acceptance after my blunders. Especially you, little one, I am sorry for what I had said. It is pleasing to once again have...friends. You, Quill, are my friend."
"Thanks." Quill replied shortly.
"This dumb tree, he is my friend." Drax continued, Groot humming in response. "You brave little one, are my friend."
"Aw." Ellie cooed as she placed her hand to her heart.
"And this green whore, she, too..." Drax continued. Ellie cringed as Gamora turned sharply to him.
"Oh, you must stop!" She yelled. Drax was about to say something but was interrupted when the group's attention turned to a woman who landed on the platform in front of them.
"Gamora, look at what you have done. You have always been weak. You stupid, traitorous..." The woman was interrupted when Drax shot his bazooka at her, sending her flying back.
"Oh." Ellie squeaked in surprise as she covered her mouth, not sure if she should feel bad or laugh.
"Nobody talks to my friends like that." Drax grumbled as he lowered the gun.
"Head to the flight deck. I'll shut down the power to the security doors." Gamora instructed. Before Gamora walked off, Ellie grabbed her wrist to stop her. The woman turned towards the young girl with her brows furrowed.
"Good luck." Ellie told her with a closed smile as she let go of Gamora's wrist.
"Thanks." Gamora replied shortly, not used to the affection. She nodded at the rest of them before her and the rest of the group split off in different directions.
The group jogged around a corner before they were blocked off by some of Ronan's army.
"Star-Lord." The head man without a guard helmet addressed Quill.
"Finally." Quill smiled. The man grabbed Quill's jacket before throwing him over his shoulder. The guards broke towards the rest of them, breaking into a fight.
Ellie held up a shield in front of her body as a guard swung one of its batons at her. It clashed against her shield, the electricity from it shooting through the batton and into the guard, making him shake. She broke her shield and kicked the guard in the chest, sending him to the ground as he continued to shake, she grabbed his batons from his hands. She held them at her sides and sent electricity through them.
As two more guards ran at her, she held one of her batons out, a string of blue crackled from the baton as it wrapped around a guards throat. She threw her arm to the side, sending the guard flying off into the gears below their walkway. She threw the other baton at the second guard, hitting his head, making him stumble back. She knelt down and threaded her fingers through the metal flooring. Her hair stood up from static and her eyes glowed blue as she sent electrons through it. The blue wave wrapped around the guards legs and pulled him to his knees as his body seized. The blue wrapped around his throat before pulling him to the floor, smashing his face on the metal.
She continued to do this similarly with other guards. When no more were around her, her chest heaved as she caught her breath, her hair rising and falling with each breath as blue electricity crackled across her strands that were still stuck up. She joined the rest of the boys beside Groot as they tried to continue their way to the flight deck.
"Oh, no." Quill muttered as more guards ran towards them. Groot stepped in front of them, throwing his arm out as it grew, stabbing a bunch of guards in the chest and abdomen. He yelled as he threw the guards against the walls multiple times, hitting the rest of the guards. When all the guards were down he threw the ones he had stabbed against the wall once more as his arm shrunk back. Ellie's electricity and hair calmed down to normal as Groot turned back to the group and smiled innocently.
The group continued their way to the flight deck, fighting more guards along the way. They finally made it but Gamora had yet to open the door to Ronan.
Once all the guards were down, Quill readied the Hadron Enforcer. The second the door opened they ran in and took down the guards, Gamora joined them from the floor below the flight deck. They went to the center of the floor and turned towards where Ronan stood, his staff glowing purple at his side. Quill aimed the Hadron Enforcer before shooting it. Ellie put a shield in front of her body to shield herself from the explosion as it hit Ronan in the chest.
"You did it!" Drax cheered as Ellie lowered her arms, her shield disappearing into her hands. The group's short relief fled from their bodies as Ronan's figure stood up through the smoke, his staff still glowing.
"What do we do now?" Ellie asked fearfully. Ronan aimed his staff at them. Ellie looked down, expecting the floor to also be metal as it was earlier, but she realized it was some sort of stone. Before she could think of a way to shield her friends, they were blasted with a shock wave, sending them flying back.
Ellie stumbled as she got to her feet. When she looked over at Ronan, she saw him holding Drax by the throat. Before she knew it, Gamora was wrapping herself around the girl as Rocket flew a craft into the flight deck.
"Are you all right?" Gamora asked Ellie as she got off the girl. Ellie coughed as heat covered her body from the fire around them.
"Yeah." She coughed as the two stood up. Ellie went over to Quill who was getting Rocket out of his seat. "Is he okay?" She asked as panic rushed through her. Quill held Rocket in his arms as they joined Groot, Gamora and Drax.
"I think so." Quill answered her. The group looked around as the ship started to crumble around them. Ellie knelt down as she realized the ship was coming down and crashing. Her attention diverted from her panic as Groot's branches wrapped around the group.
"Groot, what are you...?" Ellie trailed off as she looked around. Groot's branches had completely shielded around them, his glowing flurries illuminated around them. Rocket had now awoken and sat next to Ellie.
"No, Groot." Rocket told him as they realized what he was doing.
"Groot, you-you can't! You'll die." Ellie told him as tears flooded her eyes. She looked down at her hands. "I'll-I'll try and create a shield around us." She created a shield around herself before she tried to expand it out.
She had never been able to shield more than herself when she wasn't connected to metal or other electricity, but she could at least try. She grunted with force as she tried to make her shield bigger but nothing worked. She yelled in anger as she gripped her hair. She shuffled up to Groot.
"You can't." She rasped in a whisper.
"Why are you doing this?" Rocket asked desperately. Groot spread small branches towards the two's faces and wiped away their tears as he looked between the two of them.
"We are Groot."
