✦ 𝙋ENELOPE ✦
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

𝙋enelope Carrow didn't like her boyfriend's friends. They were rough, idiots and they were giving her gray hair. See, Penelope is a Prefect for Ravenclaw and she really wants to be Head Girl next year, but at the rate James, Sirius and Peter are going, but mostly James and Sirius, she didn't want to become Head Girl anymore. She didn't want to deal with their idiotic messes anymore, and she was sure Remus felt the same. They currently sat in The Three Broomsticks, sipping warm coffee and eating warm stew. Penelope had her eyes slightly narrowed as she watched James and Sirius bicker about her former best friend, Lily Evans. Sirius was telling James that Lily would never ever look at him the way he looks at her. Penelope would agree, but she once overheard Lily telling Marlene that one of the two was good looking. She never said the name, but Penelope was sure she meant James.

"Penny, you look like you're about to murder someone." Peter Pettigrew spoke up timidly, stirring his coffee clockwise as he slowly added sugar. Penelope rolled her eyes.

"And I wonder who I would murder." Penelope said, eyes traveling towards James and Sirius.

"Oh come on Penny, don't act as though you weren't as mischievously clever as us once." James said, scooping an enormous amount of stew into his mouth, only to spit it out again. "Hot! Hot!" He bellowed, fanning his mouth and Penelope smirked. Remus elbowed her and she broke her concentration.

"Correction Potter, I was mischievous, I still am clever."

"And all that disappeared when you got that puke worthy blue badge." Sirius said, an actual shudder running down his spine as he thought of the badge.

"Remus is a Prefect too." Peter pointed out and Sirius face palmed himself.

"That's beside the point Wormtail!" Sirius cried out. "Penny actually pranked people with us, although she always ratted us out in the end anyway."

"I can't lie when I'm nervous okay?!" Penelope groaned, shaking her head. "Besides, we all know my pranking days weren't going to last very longβ€”"

"Yeah, your mum found out about it fromβ€”"

"My stupid sister and Narcissa, so yeah, fun." The Prefect huffed out, shaking her head. "We ruled the school together and she repays me by snitching to the one person who hates me."

"Your mother doesn't hate you Penny." James shook his head. "Sheβ€”"

"Just prefers Maisie over me because she's the child of light. Yeah, remind me again because I didn't get the memo the first thousand times." Penelope grumbled, and her eyes traveled to the door just in time to see it swing open and reveal the one person missing from the table. Sirius immediately turned sour, Peter heavily blushed, James' eyes turned into daggers, Penelope sprung up and Remus remained emotionless. "El!"

Elora Snape gave her best friend a huge smile, accepting the bone crushing hug Penelope offered and sat down next to Peter. "Hello guys." She politely greeted them. "Black."

"Snapeβ€”"

"Please be civil to each otherβ€”"

"I was civil until she opened her mouth." Sirius grumbled and Elora shot him a look, resulting in Penelope hitting both of them behind the head.

"And I was going to be civil until I saw himβ€”"

"Shut up." Penelope threw them a glare. "Black, drink this, El, eat this." Penelope pushed her coffee towards Sirius and her stew towards Elora, who reluctantly began eating.

"I don't drink coffee, I only drβ€”"

"Just drink it Padfoot, before she kills you. With one simple glare, she can killβ€”"

"James, just keep quiet." Remus sighed, shaking his head, literally pleading with his friend and James only scoffed.

Penelope victoriously grinned at him. "So El, are you and Sev on talking terms now?"

"He told mum that I'm sleeping with the enemy, counts as something right?" Elora asked, wiping the corners of her mouth with the handkerchief Sirius and Penelope knew all too well. Regulus'.

"Are you really sleeping with him El?" Penelope asked, now a little concerned. It was no secret the Snape twins absolutely hated each other. Well, Severus hated Elora. Penelope can't count the number of days she had to leave Ravenclaw Tower to comfort Elora in Hufflepuff Basement, all because she's crying over the fact that Severus won't talk to her.

"Noβ€”don't give me that look Pen." Elora sighed. "The day he found me, I had an argument with Sev and Lily and you were busy with your boyfriend so I didn't want to disturb you. I was crying in the kitchens when he found me and he gave me his handkerchief. Nothing happened, I swear. I just never had the time to return his handkerchief."

Sirius scoffed. "Regulus would never ever help a Snape." Penelope raised a brow at Sirius. He and Regulus were also not on speaking terms, though they sometimes conversed, unlike the Snape twins. They were having their own war, a war no one but themselves could end. And at this rate, Penelope could see that neither one of them had the guts to end the six year war. And she knew she had to take matters in her own hands.

"Just because you remind me daily how ugly, greasy and downright gross I am Black, doesn't mean Regulus does too." Elora huffed out and for the first time since Penelope knew Sirius, he grew quiet and only downed the coffee Penelope gave him. "He's a good person...." She trailed off, playing with her food and Penelope swallowed hard. She hated the fact that her friends fight all the time. She might not admit it out loud, but she considered James, Peter and Sirius as her friends as well, in fact, she wanted to name James as her child's Godfather should she ever get any children.

"Full moon is coming in two weeks." Remus suddenly spoke, glancing at the watch on James' wrist. James had bought the watch for himself, claiming that he wanted to track the lunar cycle, whereas Sirius and Peter had been studying the calendar every single month. The way they cared for Remus warmed Penelope's heart, it was nice to see people care so much for someone like Remus.

She found out Remus was a werewolf in their fourth year, when James and Sirius were discussing it, in hushed whispers. (That sounded like yells at the time.) Remus then confessed that he wasn't planning on telling her until after graduation, for he was scared she'd leave him. Penelope had assured him that even death would never ever tear them apart.

"That's two days after school starts up again." James announced, brow furrowed in concern. Penelope never heard James worried or concerned unless it was about Remus or his parents. A lot of people, including Penelope herself, thought James Potter an idiot and a dunderhead with an inflated brain but when he wanted, he could be caring and kind. That's the part Penelope really loved about him.

"I know." Remus swallowed hard and Penelope gave him a tight lipped smile, standing up. Her boyfriend eyed her weird.

"I'm suddenly craving chocolate, and other sweet things, care to join me?" Penelope asked and Remus smiled at her, taking her outstretched hand.

"Can I come with?" Sirius asked and James whacked him behind the head. "I mean have fun." He groaned, throwing James a very dirty look and the bespectacled boy only grinned at him.

"I'll just go then." Elora announced, grabbing the stuff she brought with and flashed a smile at Penelope. "It was nice seeing you Penny, and some of you." Sirius turned his glare to her and Elora only scoffed.

Penelope frowned at this but only nodded as Elora hugged her and bid her goodbye again.

"Penny, are you alright?" Remus asked as they walked to Honeydukes once they were out the pub.

"Yeah, yeah I'm fine, not sure about El though." She shrugged. "I saw it in her eyes Rem, she likes him and I know for a fact that he doesn't like her back."

"Getting hurt by someone is just in the process of growing up. She'll learn."

Penelope sighed. "I hope so Rem. She's my friend and I've seen her hurt too many times." She sighed again. "I love her and I don't want her to get hurt again."

Remus frowned before placing a kiss on her forehead. "She'll learn Penny, she'll learn."
