YERIM 𝗣𝗢𝗩
˖ ݁𖥔 ݁˖ 𐙚 ˖ ݁𖥔

exploring busan with jamal was already something i was excited about, but when he casually mentioned his two teammates, michael and alphonso were tagging along, I felt a mix of excitement and nerves. yet, when I met them outside the hotel, any nervousness melted away.

"yerim, right?" michael asks flashing a smile. "jamal's told us a lot about you."
"only good things, i hope," I reply with a nervous laugh.

alphonso grinned, nudging jamal. "oh, only good things. can't shut him up, actually."
jamal's ears turn slight red at alphonso exposing him as he wraps an arm around my shoulders.

the sun was shining as we headed toward haeundae beach, the city's most famous coastline.

as we walked down the boardwalk, the conversation flowed easily. michael was constantly cracking jokes, while alphonso kept trying to get us all to race on the sand.

eventually, he couldn't resist.
"come on  yerim, join me! let's see who's faster, me or michael. you can be the judge."
I laughed, shaking my head. "you'll both be too fast for me to tell!"

"challenge accepted," alphonso said, then sped off, michael right on his heels. jamal and I hung back, watching them sprint like kids on a playground.

after a while, we made our way to gamcheon culture village, a colorful maze of art, street murals, and narrow alleyways. michael was mesmerized by the colors, taking pictures of every mural we passed while alphonso tried to pose next to as many as possible.

"can you take one of us, yerim?" he asked, passing me his phone. I snapped a few photos of him, jamal and michael doing ridiculous poses in front of a bright mural of a tiger.

the four of us wandered through the winding streets, stopping at little cafés and little souvenir shops. jamal bought me a handmade bracelet from one of the vendors, a simple piece with a charm shaped like a wave. "something to remember today by," he said softly as he tied it around my wrist.

eventually, the guys started talking about food, and we all agreed on korean BBQ. a while later we found a small BBQ local restaurant. the scent of grilling pork belly hit us as soon as we walked in.

inside, we sat around a low table with a grill in the center. the atmosphere was warm and cozy, with the quiet hum of conversations filling the room. alphonso and michael immediately took over the grilling, their competitive nature spilling over into who could cook the best meat.

"yerim, you've gotta judge," michael said, flipping a slice of samgyeopsal with a grin. "tell us whose is better."

i laughed, trying a piece from each of them. "honestly, they're both perfect. You guys could open a restaurant."

"see?" alphonso said, smirking at Michael. "she knows what's up."

jamal slid a perfectly wrapped lettuce and meat bundle in front of me. "here, try this one. i guarantee it's better than both of theirs."

I took a bite, the flavors of grilled meat, garlic, and sauce bursting in my mouth. "of course yours won and is the best" I admitted, unable to stop smiling.

as the night went on, the conversation never slowed. We talked about basically everything football, travel, busan, and even random things like our favorite movies.

sitting there, surrounded by the smell of BBQ, the warmth of friends, and the quiet buzz of the restaurant, I couldn't help but feel incredibly lucky.

jamal's hand rested on my knee under the table, a silent gesture of affection that made me feel like I belonged here, right here next to him.

as we left the restaurant, the night air cool against our faces, jamal pulled me a little closer. "you had fun today?"

"yeahh today was really cool" I said, glancing up at him. "your teammates are so funny"
"they're alright" jamal teased, but I could see the pride in his eyes.

and as we strolled through the quiet streets of busan, the four of us laughing and joking, i realized that breaking the don't answer strangers especially on social media rule isn't bad to break it.

in some thoughts jamal suddenly whispers into my ear "being with you is my favorite place to be."
