What if... Someone whistled back?

An alternate ending to an alternate ending

And, here we are again.

The same cemetery in Ohio.

Yelena had gone through so much so quickly, and the girl had now no one to hold her. But, she wished that it wasn't like that. Instead, she wished she could turn back time, as if she were doctor strange and never have to have gone through what happened in 2018, and everything after that. To stay in the peaceful way it was only a day before Thanos would've been enough for the Russian.

She walked with Fanny, down the pathway, like any other visit she'd done. The two graves were similar, however the decorations people had left behind were somewhat different to one and another.

Before Thanos, Aerus was seen more to the world as a second-class Avenger. Unlike Natasha, of who was classed as one of the most important, and that was only because she was officially seen as one of the original six. But, then again, people would argue otherwise, as Air's name was on the plaque with the rest of the six Avenger's names in NYC.

Even with all the sacrifices Aerus had made, Yelena always had her mind trail back to the thought of it being her own fault her lover was dead. The thought that the one she married was no longer with her because she had insisted on helping her sister and other family, was what kept her up at night.

She held a pack of eight beers in one of her hands as she looked down at the two gravestones. One labelled with her sister's name, and one labelled with her lover's name. A sigh escaped her lips as she sat between the two of them, placing the beers in front of her and taking out a small pocket knife.

The girl took a beer out for herself, then placed one to the side of Air's gravestone, leaning up against its side a little before she took a glance at Natasha grave. Before she did anything else, the girl sat next to the grave, leaning her head against her sister's gravestone. She held back tears as she whistled out to Natasha, hoping there would be a reply.

For a moment, the only other whistle there was was the wind, but then the sound was blocked out by the replying whistle. Yelena's eyes opened up, taking another glance at the grave which she had her forehead leaned against.

Slowly, the Russian spy looked up, seeing someone leaning up against the tree. Yelena recognised the suit as she saw the woman. At first, she'd thought of mama, the woman who had worn it in the first place. But that certainly was not Melina. No, with the braided red hair, bleached at its ends, it definitely was not Melina.

Natasha Romanoff's face had now dried up blood on the side of her face from where she'd been laying on the ground on Vormir. Her throat was dry and the Russian now understood what Scott had felt like when he had been in the Quantum Realm for five hours. Starving. She was starving.

Yelena stood up just as slowly as she'd looked up, dropping the bottle of alcohol as she kept her eyes on Natasha. The Avenger held her stomach a little as she leaned against the tree, copying how her sister looked at her. In less than a second, Yelena had become so delicate by her sister's reappearance, she felt as though she was dreaming. Too good to be true.

As Natasha's sister stepped closer, she reached her hand out to Nat, hand on her cheek as tears began to fill her eyes. The older sister gave her younger sister a soft smile, letting her know she wasn't going anywhere. Not anymore.

"Sestra." Natasha spoke out to Yelena, of who was lost for words. The blonde leaned into her sister's embrace, arms wrapped around the girl.

"I knew you'd come back." Yelena murmured quietly into Natasha's shoulder. She began to cry into the girl's shoulder and she comforted her as the two stood underneath the tree, not another word spoken. Ten minutes passed, and neither of the sisters wanted to let go of the other, but something, or someone got in the way.

Fanny jumped up to Natasha, barking at the girl for being so close to her mom for so long. Romanoff let out a small chuckle as she ruffled the dog's fur as the two sisters finally pulled away from the hug. But as she did so, someone else came into mind. The assassin glanced around the graveyard, seeing no one else was present.

But her eyes stopped scanning the graveyard when her eyes caught two gravestones out of the way of the rest. Natasha gave her sister a look before she limped, walking towards the two gravestones her sister was at beforehand. She walked around, seeing toys and letters on both of the graves, making her smile before she saw the names.

Her grave wasn't a big of shock to her, it had obviously been so long, considering that Yelena was so emotional. But, it was Aerus' grave that got to her.

AERUS SHAW

♛

LOVER⋅ AVENGER⋅ HERO

She stared down at the grave, not a word being said as a singular tear fell down her cheek, dropping down to the ground.

"Did they do it?" Natasha asked her sister, looking up at Yelena, behind Aerus' grave, still taking in what was happening. Yelena nodded, a small, small smile was on her face, proud that her lover had saved billions of lives, with her sister.

Natasha nodded in response, looking back down at the grave. She slowly took a gun out of its hoister, emptying in and dropping it in the middle of the grave before staring at it. Moments passed between the two as both Natasha and Yelena took time to remember them. Billions were now alive, but they couldn't be apart of those billions.

Yelena's head snapped up after a moment, but Natasha didn't look away from the grave. The blonde was looking beyond her, someone behind her. He wore any other day clothes that he would wear, because he really wasn't expecting to see her again (and I'm not talking about Yelena).

"'Tasha?" She turned around to the familiar voice that called her name. Clint stood there at the end of the pathway, looking up at the assassin, tears already in his eyes.
