Weeks fly by as the cold disappears from each day a little more than the day before. Hogwarts has now fully transformed into its spring attire, the trees all a mix of different colors as the rain hydrates each plant.
"I honestly can't believe it's already the end of our 5th year," I state quietly, my eyes trained up on the ceiling as Pansy and I lay tiredly atop our beds. There wasn't any light in the room beside the lamp placed on a small bedside table, and the moonlight that creeped beautifully through our cracked window.
Pansy inhales deeply at this, her hands moving to rest behind her head. "I can."
A small amused huff leaves me at her response, my gaze moving off of the blank ceiling to the girl on the bed next to mine. "How?"
"It has been quite the year in my opinion." She shrugs nonchalantly, her eyes meeting mine.
A small smile tugs at the corners of my lips. "Fair enough."
We lay in silence for a few comfortable moments, my eyes now focused on the wand twirling between my fingers.
"But a good one," Pansy adds quietly, something between a smirk and a smile playing at her lips.
"For the most part, I suppose," I say, my teeth gently biting onto my bottom lip as I think of my personal favorite memories of the year.
Today had been our last day of classes, meaning that all we had to do now was pack up everything in our dorm in preparation for leaving tomorrow. At the moment though, packing up was the last thing Pansy and I seemed to want to do.
After a few more moments of silence, I catch my wand so that it stops its twirling before I inhale deeply, pushing myself to sit up on the edge of my bed. I then slowly begin to stand, my eyes glancing around at all the things I still need to pack.
As I pick up my trunk from underneath my bed, letting it land heavily onto my bed, my attention is completely stolen. "Oh wow."
Pansy's gaze turns to me, her eyebrows furrowed with confusion. "What?"
My lips part with surprise as I walk closer to the window, my eyes fully trained on the bright moon and sparkling stars. The night sky was often a beautiful sight at Hogwarts, though the constant rain and occasional cloudy days recently had hidden it more than usual.
"The sky is so clear," I mumble, my hands gently pulling at the curtains to reveal even more shining stars.
Pansy's eyebrows lift as she sits at the edge of her bed, her gaze landing in the same area as mine.
There's a moment of silence as we both admire the view before I can hardly think about what I'm saying as it leaves my mouth. "I wanna go."
"Huh?"
"C'monnn, we can go wake up the boys and then we can all go see the stars one last time before we leave tomorrow," I begin to beg, pulling lightly at Pansy's hand as I try to wish her hesitant expression away.
She glances around our room for a moment, her lips slightly pursing in thought. "Does this mean we don't have to pack?"
A silent laugh leaves me at her response. "For now, yes."
She chews her bottom lip in thought, her eyes wandering around the room. "If you are somehow miraculously able to get the boys to join us, I'll come." Her eyebrows lift.
I narrow my eyes at her, purposefully glaring at her lack of faith in my abilities. "Fine. You better be ready to go whenever I come back," I say, a teasing strictness in my voice as I point my finger at her.
She shrugs nonchalantly, lazily laying back on her bed.
With one more glance out the window, I make my way to our door, leaving the doubtful girl to walk toward the boys' dormitory. There was a very low chance that they were still awake, meaning that I'd soon be dealing with three very grumpy boys. Good thing I seem to have a certain power over one of them.
I make sure my footsteps are light yet quick as I make my way through the corridor full of boy dormitories, my ears on alert for any sounds that could indicate somebody being there and catching me.
I stand silently in front of their door just a few minutes later, my hand lifting to let two knuckles lightly knock on their door. I don't know much about the other two's sleeping tendencies, though I do know that Draco is an extremely light sleeper. Fortunately, I'd have the best chances at making this work if he was the one to answer the door.
After a few moments of silence, I lean closer to the door, my ear only an inch from it as I attempt to hear any signs of movement.
I barely hear the soft brush of footsteps before the door peaks open, my body jerking back as I try to hide what I was doing.
A small smile reaches my lips as I take in the sight before me. A very sleepy Draco. His sleeping attire including grey sweatpants paired with a plain, dark green t-shirt.
With his hair ruffled from sleep, he squints tiredly at me.
"Hi," I whisper, my smile clear in my voice as I admire him.
"Is something wrong?" He mumbles, a certain deepness present in his voice due to just having woken up. His arm presses against the door, his body leaning into the doorframe, causing his t-shirt to rise just slightly above the waistband of his sweatpants, an inch of his pale abdomen catching my eyes.
I swallow, my eyes snapping back up to his quickly. "No, nothing wrong."
There's a few moments of silence in which he seems to be waking up while I seem to struggle to think any coherent thoughts while looking at him.
"Okayyy.." He breaks the silence in a questioning tone, his eyes falling down my body with clear confusion as to why I was still in my school uniform. Minus the robe and tie.
I attempt to ignore the small flutter in my stomach at the slight growl in his voice before speaking. "Hear me out for a second," I begin, putting on my most innocent looking smile as hesitation grows in his expression. "You, me, Pansy, Theo, and Blaise all go up to the astronomy tower right now and look at the stars."
His brows furrow with confusion at my words. "Right now?"
"Yes right now, it's our last night."
He leans his head against the wall, his eyes searching mine as he inhales deeply. "Has anyone else even agreed to this?"
There's a short moment of silence as my tongue pokes at the inside of my cheek, a moment of realization hitting me at how unconvincing this must be.
I slowly lean into the wall next to their door, my body instantly only inches from Draco's. "It doesn't matter much to me if anyone else is there." I slowly brush my fingers through his messy hair, trying my best at a seductive whisper.
A huff of air leaves him as he laughs silently. "Are you trying to flirt your way into convincing me?"
"Shhhh," I respond, continuing to brush my fingers through his hair.
His laughter only becomes heavier at this, his teeth fully showing in a grin. "I'll go, though it's on you to convince the others."
I give him a small glare, my hand immediately falling away from him. "Fine."
A smirk appears on his lips at this, his head ducking down to lightly place a kiss upon my jaw. "Good luck," He whispers, giving me a wink as he opens the door wider, letting me enter.
I inhale deeply as I glance between the two boys sleeping, my teeth biting at my cheek in thought. If I told them the truth of what I wanted to do, there was only a tiny chance they'd comply, resulting in my idea to make a plan in which they had to follow me up the tower.
Surely panic wasn't the way to go, due to the fact that we'd have to stop by my dorm to get Pansy, which would destroy any sense of having to rush.
Forcing them wasn't gonna work, as there's no way I'd ever be able to drag the two of them somewhere.
Surprise seems to be the only idea that's still worthy of a plan.
I glance behind me at Draco still leaning in the doorway, a smug smirk upon his lips as he waits for me to do something. I roll my eyes at him before turning back toward the boys, beginning my plan as I walk toward Blaise's bed first, quickly turning on the lamp right next to him. I repeat the same thing for Theo's lamp.
This gets a stir out of both of them, annoyed groans filling the room.
"Guys! Get up!" I say quietly, though there's an urgency in my voice.
Blaise's eyes flash opens quickly, his arms pushing himself to sit up. "Why are you in our room?" He asks, a slight panic in his voice.
"There's gonna be a super cool firework show soon that we can watch from the astronomy tower! C'mon!" I continue to urge them, pulling the bottom of Theo's blankets away from him, which results in an annoyed groan from him. At least he was awake.
"Why?" Blaise questions as he stands up from his bed, his eyes still half closed.
"It's for our last day!" I say excitedly, tugging at Theo's arm.
Blaise gives a confused look to Draco, though doesn't fight me on it, clearly due to the fact that he isn't fully awake.
"Theo, do you want to see the fireworks or not?!" I continue pulling his arm, earning an angry expression to appear on his face even with his eyes closed.
He peaks one eye open to look at me, his brows furrowed and his lips slightly frowning. "Maybe."
"Then get up!" I pull harshly on his arm. With one last annoyed groan, he begins to sit up, his legs swinging over the edge of the bed.
As the two of them tiredly slip on shoes, I turn my attention back to Draco. An amused smirk rests on his lips as he continues to lean against the doorframe, his eyebrow rising up as I meet his gaze. There seemed to be a hint of surprise in his expression, only making me feel more confident.
I slightly cock my head to the side as our eyes stay locked, a small smirk of my own appearing.
Moments later, the four of us are all quietly making our way back to the girls dormitories, a certain excitement flowing through me at the thought of getting to show Pansy that she was wrong.
Theo and Blaise's footsteps were much louder than I would've preferred, though I knew complaining about such a thing would certainly ruin their willing attitudes and possibly send them right back to their dorm.
Once we reach the correct door, I give a light knock before peaking my head in. "You ready to go?"
Pansy huffs amusedly, still laying lazily on her bed. "You wish."
With a small raise of my eyebrows, I let the door fall open, revealing the three boys standing next to me.
Her lips part with shock, her eyes widening as she sits up.
After ignoring a few of her questions, (due to not wanting to give it away to the boys that I was lying) Pansy finally gets up and joins us on our journey up to the astronomy tower.
The cold air had creeped down most of the staircase leading up the tower, though it wasn't nearly as intense as the strong hit of cold air once we reached the top. The cold air wasn't the only breathtaking thing though, in fact the bright, clear night sky hit harder than some cold air ever could.
I inhale sharply at the view, a small cloud of fog appearing as I exhale. There was really no telling whether it was the cold or the view that caused a small water of my eyesโmaybe both. My eyes stay firmly locked with the night sky, though I can see all of my friends admiring it just as I am from my peripheral vision.
My attention falters slightly as I feel some warmth behind me, Draco's arms wrapping around my waist as his head leans down to rest near my own. A small smile tugs at my lips, my hands resting against his cold ones as his thumbs run gently over my stomach.
"Was it worth it?" He asks, his voice barely over a whisper.
"Hm?" I hum, slightly distracted by his warmth to really think about what he was asking.
"Having to force three boys out of bed. Was it worth it?" He explains, a hint of humor in his words.
A humorous huff leaves me at this, causing another small cloud of fog to appear. "Absolutely." I smile contentedly, a large sense of peace and comfort washing over me.
Theo's dramatic shivers soon distract me from my thoughts, my teeth catching onto my bottom lip in an attempt to hide any smile or laughter that might escape at the sight.
"C'mere guys, we can keep each other warm," I say, reluctantly breaking away from Draco's arms to sit down at the edge of the tower. The group makes their way toward me, Theo quickly sitting down next to me. Pansy sits on the other side of Theo, Blaise on the other side of her. Draco sits next to me, leaning back into his arms, half of his body lightly pressed up against my back to keep me warm.
Pansy and I both wrap our arms around Theo, as he seems to be the coldest of the group, and with a glance their way, it looks as if Blaise is doing a good job at keeping Pansy warm.
A small smile seems to be glued onto my lips as the five of us sit in silence, letting the soft sounds of night reach our ears, and the sparkle of each star entertain our eyes.
The stars, the moon, the night sky as a whole has always been a sight filled with comfort and happiness for me, but there was an obvious extra layer of those emotions due solely to the fact that I was with my favorite people. My family.
My eyes wander over the sky, admiring the way each star has its own way of lighting up the sky. I can't help but think of the four people next to me being bright stars in the dark sky that is my life. I doubt there will ever be anything that I am so passionately grateful for as I am for the existence of the people next to me.
I turn my head slightly to admire the blond-haired, grey-eyed boy next to me. My smile grows ever so slightly as his eyes meet mine, a small burst of warmth growing throughout my body. He smiles back at me, his eyes searching mine for a moment before his lips part. "I love you." He lips silently.
"I love you." I repeat his action back to him, before gently resting my head against his chest, my eyes closing for a few moments to take the pure feeling of joy in.
A few moments of silence follow as we all continue to admire the view.
"Wonder when the fireworks are gonna come," Theo mumbles, his body still slightly shivering.
A humorous huff leaves me at this, my smile stretching into a grin. There is no need for fireworks in this moment. I know, in my heart, I have absolutely everything I need right here with me.
